    4 wheel drive weighs 75kg more than 2 wheel drive, but Tiptronic is 40kg heavier than the manual, so the difference in total weight of the two cars in this video is minimal, but interestingly, most of the extra 4wd weight is on the front wheels whereas most of the extra Tiptronic weight is on the rear wheels, so the C2S has quite a lot more rear weight bias.

  • @std882

    A lot of people talked about the wider look of the C4S but in reality, the total difference is only 1.5 inches. It's so minute that it doesn't even really show. And not really visible unless you put spacer in the 4S. But then the tires will stick out a bit more that's it. The 911s that truly shows the difference between the narrow body and wider body are the mid 70s through to the early 90s. It's liek day and night but with only 1.5 inches difference?
    I like the 4S for it's AWD. It's safer when it snow. Otherwise I'd go for the 2S.

    I own two 991.1's a GTS (PDK) and a C4S (Manual) both wide bodies, the all wheel drive on the 991.1(C4S) even though its planted the steering feels almost as light and responsive as the GTS rear wheel drive, amazing technology as you really do not feel the all wheel drive grip kick in until it is gradually needed for situation and performance. They are both a joy to drive for different reasons, normally aspirated PSE systems are music to the ears

    The awd feels planted but there’s nothing like a proper rear wheel + manual 😊. As you’ve mentioned, you have to be on your toes and alert. It’s more lively and more rewarding to drive imo.

    When test driving a couple 2S and 4S models I had exactly the same observations as you Satch. Couldn’t really choose between the two, until a nice specced 2S (with rare X51 powerkit and other nice options) came on my path. Bought that one, it’s a manual of course. Haven’t looked back since, but I remember also really liking the planted feeling of the 4S.

    Great review. I like your presentation style, straight and to the point. I'd love to compare myself but alas I only have one type, a 997.2 C2S w/ Sport+ & PSE. I swapped out the OEM muffler bypass with an aftermarket German product and when I open the valves, the exhaust sound is significantly improved. I do take highway curves at higher speeds on morning commutes, and to your point it is a lively exchange, knowing you have that pendulum in the back swaying you around - but that is what I enjoy most about the car; the sensation of driving a 911 is unique. Those two dot ones are gorgeous in those colours.

    Awesome colors on both, great looking porches. Love your channel, keep up the uploads. Learned so much from you. You got me hooked on buying Porche one day. Cheers from Canada mate!! I was i UK London second week of January and you have some sick cars there. Met some awsome people there, if you were going to buy your first Porche based on your experience now. Which would you pick Cayman or 911, with 50k budget. Thanks and keep them coming mate!!!

    Great vid! I’ve been a proud owner of both the 4S and 2S and I prefer the 2S. Mainly because it has more of a raw feel. I like to break the rear end loose every once in a while and the 2S allows me to do it. Just my own preference between the two. Both are amazing cars. Keep up the good work!

    I think the 997 is the sweet spot for the 911 on looks and size. I would keep to a manual car fo rmy own preference, but would need to drive a 4S and S back to back on roads I know well to determine which way to jump. On looks alone - the 4S every day, but I'd have to go with the better drive regardless of looks. One day maybe as a replacement to my Cayman R, but would prefer to wait till I could get one as a stable mate! (It could be a veeery long wait)

    Nice video thanks. Did you know that on a 997.2 C4S , if you pull up the handbrake just one one click, it turns the car into a 2wd 911, deactivating the front end. It works, trust me but not sure if this is the case with a 997.1 though - maybe you should try?

    An enjoyable video well produced. Having passed my sell by date ,cafe racer in the 60s. Without doubt the 2S just for the sheer pleasure of the input. 997.1 manual yes you could dissapear through a hedge in the wet easily resisting is one of lifes little pleasures. Again a good and fair review keep up the good work!

    As a long term 4S owner, I have had it sideways more times than I could count on spiritted drives. I find the 4S nose to be a lot less bouncy and vauge at high speeds compared to the S.
    Of course when you look in your side mirrors, there is no getting away from those wide hips! 😁

      Oddly enough I would say the difference in the way they drive is minimal, but the S versions are nearly always much higher spec, and that's what can make them worth more.

    Good looking cars. Very nicely detailed. Great review. Driving a rear wheel drive with proper rubber in the winter is actually not bad and quite frankly it is a lot of fun. I live in Chicago so I speak from experience. Both cars are great in this review but like knifes, each for a different purpose. You nailed it.

    The C2S would be much lighter it manual. God awful Tiptronic S! The C2S is just a much better car to drive, more fun and more agile. However, the 4S is far better on those wet, snowy, icy roads etc. Plus the 4 wheel drive is adaptive depending on where the grip is needed. I don't think the 4S is really that much wider unless you reaallllly look for it. Wheel size/design and ride height does add to it though. Good video again mate 👍

      It’d be just like any other awd vehicle versus a rwd iteration. There’s a front diff that will fluid changes every so often and you will not be able to lengthen your tire life span by rotation frequency to the degree that you can on a rwd car. Rwd won’t have to worry about the CV axle will go at some point on the 4s

  • @ulrichgunther9905
    @ulrichgunther9905 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The 2S is for people who can drive. On country roads the 2S is a lot more fun. A 4 wheel drive is what you need in a car with front engine where you can't get the force power on the road. A Porsche does not need 4wd. And I would never get a sports exhaust. Why bother others with the noise of my car. This is obnoxious.

    • @gjonno
      @gjonno 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on £££. If talking reasonable money then gen 2 996 or any 997 Carrera. Normal sports seats are really comfortable. All Carreras great fun and plenty quick enough for our roads. Late model 987 Boxster S not to be sniffed at either.
      If all year round car then Carrera 4 is gr8 choice

    Great video 👍 Sorry may be I miss understood I thought any “S” variant had the wider body so I was under the impression a 4s and 2s both have the same wider body type and size over the standard cars - am I wrong ?

    • @pjay3028
      @pjay3028 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, only the 4wd cars are widebody, so a base Carrera 4 is actually wider than a Carrera 2S.

      Indeed you would. I've owned 16 (911S) models. The extra power can save your life or take your life. My 4S (997.2 with 12,923 Miles is a blast to drive. Fabspeed Intake adds 14Hp to the wheels. Simply awesome. I ditched a 991 to fall in love again. The 991 defies physics but the 997.2 just feels more Porsche-ish

    Reported weight differential is 55 kg. Which would be pretty respectable to run a driveshaft, box and shafts out the front, I suspect with fluids etc., it would be several kg more than that.
    15 kg would be a no-brainer choice to go for 4s over 2s, stating 15kg makes this video misleading from my research......I don't think you are in any way trying to mislead anyone! Maybe check number stats again and at least note the difference?
