Regarding the Fort Bend County Appraisal District, you can forget about lowering your annual appraisal. I have hired and fired two companies that could not lower our appraisal meaningfully. It is the worst appraisal district in the Houston Area, so you better think twice about that before you buy a home in Fort Bend County. And, they are building houses in Fort Bend County like there is no tomorrow at "high" prices, which will be used against you by the appraisal district appraisers and the appraisal board. In fact, I spoke with a company representative who does property tax protests who lives a few miles from me in Fort Bend County and he could not even get his property tax appraisal reduced, so now you know.
I don’t recognize the Katy photo ops you put. I grew up near the cinco ranch area and graduated from seven lakes. What part of Katy were you talking about?
What do you think of Villages of cypress lakes subdivision in cypress 77429? I heard powers surge a lot out there? Did that area experience frozen pipes lines during the last freeze?
This subdivision is a nice neighborhood. The entire area experienced issues during the last freeze. I am not sure specifically the impacts of this subdivision. It's usually case by case for each house.
Towne lake in cypress has a lake for boating, but it is for residents only. Other than that one, the closest boating lakes would probably be lake Conroe or lake Houston. This link will have more info on boating lakes tpwd.texas.gov/fishboat/boat/where/
I’m a sucker for the walking trails and nature so if I were moving to Katy I’d probably choose Elyson or Cross Creek Ranch (fulshear). But it all depends on what is important to you!
It is not common, but there are some areas of Katy that are more prone to flooding than others. You can check a particular area or address by using this map. www.harriscountyfemt.org
Katy and Cypress have areas where there is a lot of shopping, food and entertainment. Katy has Trader Joes and Whole Foods but Cypress doesn't (yet!). Lone Star Community College has campus locations in both areas and both have a handful of trade colleges. Major universities are not too far away either!
I guess it would depend what you consider affordable. The market is a little crazy right now and home prices are increasing. It would be pretty difficult to find anything newer under 250 in the cypress area right now.
@@livinginhouston just visited jasmine heights in katy, nice but bro everything is saling fast..cheapest house was 3/2 for 276k and a 4x3 2200 sqt is 309k.
Cypress kid here.I have to be honest Katy is better district wise.Cypress is better however in individual school wise with schools like cy woods, ranch, bridgeland and cy fair. But Katy also has Tompkins, seven lakes, cinco ranch and Katy high itself.I wouldn’t say Katy sucks like that, you must’ve went to the bottom side of Katy schools

Both cities have beautiful parks and landscaping. Thank you for the information.
Thank you
Elyson and Bridgeland are my two favorites

It’s not easy to choose between Katy or Cypress, however; Katy is amazing. But again, they’re both beautiful. BTW, I’m a Katy resident of 8yrs
They both have really great things about them.
We are doing a tour in Cypress when we come down at the end of June. Looking into Cypress, Spring, Tomball & Humble
There are great communities and things to do in all of those places! Are you coming from out of town? Let me know if you need any recommendations.
Go to cypress if you want some of the best out of houston
@livinginhouston what re your views on new avalon at Cypress community? We are planning to buy there.
Good community 😀
Cypress wins!
🙌
Nice and helpful

I also have a question. If bridgeland high is in cy fair, where is the side of bridgeland that Waller isd owns going to go to?
Other side of 290 when it's built
Is there any nearby lakes that you could go boating ? Watercraft?

Depends on what you consider to be "floods"
Do they have downtowns? Colleges, doctors, or Whole Foods? I am on retested with my bf and us to move their.

I have 2 jobs offer.. 1 in Katy & the other in North Houston so I would choose spring. I don’t know which city I want to move. Any recommendations?
This depends on a lot of different factors but I generally like Katy more! That’s my opinion though and it could be different for you.
Moving to Houston and would like more info

How dare you. Katy is dumb.

I for sure think everyone should research each school individually and not just the district as a whole.
