Oh, there is so much to say... the little Glen from the end of part one, the church bells from part two.... all the starlings, feasting in the field. Very nice finds! When it comes to the Iron Cross, we have to remember that, that was some young man's pride and joy... Look at the condition! I'm happy you found it... Beste, Anna
Hello Hans. Another great video. You know I love the relics you find and again another great bunch. I love the ring, the fleur-de-lis badge and the brass tap. I also loved the pictures of the scenery you included. The bird in the tree and the pine cones especially. Thank you again for sharing with us.
Mama's gone detecting hello :) thank you! i'm very happy that you like my finds and the nature shots i include. nature is a very important facet of my hobby :) thank you for watching my videos! i appreciate your support :) all the best, GL&HH! hans

Lovely area Hans, beautiful photography, I love your exciting videos, the iron cross is amazing, great find, Thank You for sharing your wonderful relics.
Hans, I've enjoyed all your videos. I lived in Germany for four years in Wiesbaden. I spent a lot of time in the Taunus region. There's a lot of history there. Best wishes. Dan
Dan Chamberlain hello dan! thank you for watching my videos! i'm very happy to hear that you like them! wiesbaden is just around the corner from my place and you're right, it's an area with a lot of history and it's beautiful too :) all the best, hans
Very nice finds Hans ! Iron cross is awesome...I can see troughout your videos you also have an eye for the nature around you and especially the lovely birds. I have the feeling that most of us, detectorsists, love being in the out as a welcome side effect of detecting. Keep the goodies coming ;-) GL & HH !
Johan de vlieger hello johan :) i'm happy to hear that you like my finds! the iron cross is really cool and a nice piece of history. . . i love nature, that's right and the birds are always around, pleasing me with their appearance and their lovely singing. . .i never feel alone :) thank you for watching my videos johan! i appreciate it! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Very nice hunt Hans! The iron cross was a great find and the thimbles keep coming! The aluminum bowl item looked like a mess tin- maybe the holes were for the handle .Brass item looked like a gas valve .the Boy Scout pin was a good find also.Love your videos and the artistic nature shots. Thanks, Fred
***** hello fred! thank you, i'm glad you like the hunt! very interesting what you've said about the bowl thing! i instantly knew what you meant as i 've seen something like this before. . .yo are also right about the gas valve! thank you for watching my videos fred! i appreciate your support! all the best, hans
That Iron Cross looks identical to what was sold in Dime Stores in the USA when I was a boy...around 1960. They had black enamal with white trim and were about the same size. Always the W and 1914, never the Swastika and 1939. I think it's a reproduction marketed for Kids.
Wow Hans, what great finds! That Iron Cross is stunning.... if I was to go to Germany to detect and found only 1 thing and it was a cross like that, I would go home perfectly happy! An early relic of the "Great War"... what a day! I guess that parking lot find was a real omen! Cheers! Al
***** hello al :) i'm very happy about the find result and you are right maybe the one pfennig from the parking lot helped me finding it ;) these war relics are strange finds. . on the one hand they fascinate you because of their history on the other hand they give you the creeps because you know what these soldiers had to endure. . . thank you for watching my videos al! i appreciate it my friend! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Thanks for uploading again! Wonderful finds esp. the iron cross.'W' might be Wermarcht , I remember from WW2 a Doctor said he got it for bravery.I just continue to be amazed at the excellence of your filming! Danke Shoerne! Still coid, snow cover good here in U,P. of Michigan, its so nice to see ypur green fields! Very best regards Frank
Frank D'Alberto hello frank :) thank you for watching my video! i'm glad you like my finds! the w on the cross stands for wilhelm II the last german emperor who ruled germany from 1888 to 1918. . .it makes me very happy that you like the way of my filming!!! it encourages me to continue :) i wish you good detecting weather soon! thank you for your kind comment! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Very nice job Hans!!! I have my grandfather’s iron cross , same one you found actually. He was in the Kaiser’s horse drawn artillery during WWI, lived through that mess just to be killed on the job building a skyscraper in New York City in 1930 when my father was only 5 years old
Hi Hans, wonderful video to watch. It looks like the scouts were camping in that field and lost their pocket money! The 'pot' thing could be cooking equipment for camping. The iron cross is in such great condition! GL & HH
Rachel Norton hello rachel! thank you! i'm so happy that you like it! haha poor kids. . could very well be! you are right about the "pot thing" i thought about the lid of something. . the two holes could be from a missing handle. . . the cross is indeed in a stunning condition . . the first viewer already doubted the genuineness of the cross because of that. . i'm not sure but i'm happy anyways :) thank you for watching and for your kind comment :) all the best, GL&HH! hans
Hans, your videos are very well done and I really enjoy watching them. I found your channel a few weeks ago and subscribed right away. It's too cold and snowy here in Michigan USA to detect so your channel keeps me going until I can get out myself. Thanks for the channel, and HH Jeff
Rebsix hello jeff! thank you for your kind words about my videos! it makes me very happy to hear that you like watching them :) i wish you nice detecting weather soon! thank you for watching and for subscribing to my channel! i appreciate it :) all the best, GL&HH! hans

Hello, Nice hunt, nice coins and finds. The vidéo is very well. What you fund at 9,15 is what the fisher use to catch a big fish. Hope to see more. So sorry for my english. Bye Chris.
ChrisDetek 34 salut chris :) thank you for watching and for your kind comment! i'm glad to hear that you like my video! thank you also for defining the object at 9:15! very interesting! your english is great :) all the best, GL&HH! hans
Hi Hans, How are you, enjoyed your two videos and some great finds,I liked the small ring, iron cross, thimble and the brass tap, realy great finds.I remember a lot of the German coins from my army days in Dortmund in 1973/74 and specially
I remember the 50-Pfennig coins you showed in other videos when I saw the 50-Pfennig piece from 1985 and your report of the explanation why farmers used to throw them on the fields to get a lucky harvest. They all depict corn/wheat. I like that idea that farmers for hudnreds of years threw pennies on their fields. Brought luck by mineralizing the soil for sure.
Yup, I thought that bag seal was a small Celtic unit or a Saxon sceat when I first saw it!..haha, awesome iron cross though!. You sounded a little bit depressed at the end there, all of us who detect know how it is Hans, its better to detect somewhere rather than wait for crops to come out of ploughland permission. Pasture is not my favourite but its what I hunt the on most, I wish I could pull fibulae and Saxon coinage out of it but the oldest (dateable) thing I've had is seventeenth century coins (and I'm still chuffed with that tbh!).. Hunts like these make the ancient finds, like from your dream field, all the sweeter :-) keep it up mate, we love your videos
Richard Bacon hello richard! haha. . always these mean moments. . but on the other hand they keep the juices running on a cold day . . :) i'm not depressed. . .maybe it came across like that but it's not the way i feel. . .i really like detecting this meadow as it has a different spectrum of finds to offer. . .and in a few weeks i will be detecting my dream field again :) congrats on your 1700s coins. . i love coins from this century and i consider them to be top finds! thank you for watching and commenting my friend! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Thank you Hans, just viewed your message 2-9-15. I will view your presentations in the language of your choice, because you are a man of great charactor…GL/HH.
Sco/ire America thank you for your support and for your kind words my friend! it's much appreciated :) thank you for watching my videos!! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Hi Hans, today in good spirits go to search, I had a new land to discover. The first pits that I dig, only trash, the fourth pit that I dig, shovel broken. Such a lovely weather and no scoop to dig pits LOL. That scoop what you have, where can you buy it seems a handy scoop. But okay, today no thimble found.
Harrie D aww. . i'm sorry to hear that! but i know days like that! don't worry, there will be better detecting days! look for the "black ada invader long"
Great video Hans, loads of different finds and a fab Iron Cross. Thank for sharing. Look forward to your next hunt, all the best mate as always and HH Charlie
crabstick333 hello charlie :) thank you for watching my friend! i'm glad that you liked it! i can't complain about my finds and the cross was my find of the day :) thank you for your kind comment! all the best to you! GL&HH! hans

Little John hello john! thank you for watching and for your kind words about my video! i'm glad you like my finds :) all the best and good luck and happy hunting on your next detecting day! hans
Wow ! If only those items could tell a story. The iron cross was like a memorial keepsake maybe a necklace or something similar. Worth money as it's rare. Interesting video (y)
Another awesome video! Always cool to see the early war relics come out of the ground. Yeh...its always nice to find the precious metals but the old relics can be just as or even sometimes more rewarding. Keep up the vids and good luck on your next venture!
da2moso hello! thank you my friend! glad you like my vid :) you are absolutely right. . .i'm very happy about my relics and i appreciate them. . .even though i'm looking forward to finding my next silver coin ;) thank you for watching and commenting!!! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Hello Hans, wonderful hunt. Enjoyed every minute, thank you. If you would allow me, I believe that large bowl may be an air cleaner or filter cover perhaps from a tractor.. Gl/ HH until next time my friend…bill
Sco/ire America hello bill :) thank you, i'm glad to hear you liked the hunt! very interesting what you've said about the "bowl" find! i could imagine something like that too! thank you for watching and for your helpful comment!! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Good work on the iron cross - different type to the one I found and yours is what I thought iron crosses looked like - I didn't recognise the one I found, lol GL&HH
Pondguru thank you richard! it might not be an iron cross that a soldier would have got for military bravery but it's definitely from the time of ww1. . i'm still trying to find out how it was used. thank you for watching! GL&HH! hans
Chao. Desde Chile. Spanish.

Great finds Hans! I'm surprised the iron cross is not silver! You must be hunting near an air base. I'm pretty sure I heard a C-5 Galaxy pass over your head at one point. Best wishes and HH, Dave.
Daddydigger1 hello dave, thank you my friend! i'm not sure, maybe it is. . .but i've learned that it could be only a civilian version of the iron cross. . .anyways, still a nice find :) the frankfurt airport is not far away but i don't know if galaxies start and land there. . . thank you for watching and commenting!!! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Another great video ,i was shocked seeing the 5 mark piece as i was holding the same coin in my hand that i found last week ,it was from 1976 and has a g mark next to the date .Maybe that small strange thing is a helmet for a small Tommy soldier from ww1 lol GL&HH John
JOHN MCDONALD hello john, lol really?? what a coincidence ! it was a lot of money back in the german mark time. . i remember that it once was my pocket money for one week when i was about 14 years old or so :) lol. . .or a bowl for kraut ;) thank you for watching and commenting my friend! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Well done Hans, Over 8 Marks = € 4,00 Spendies if you bring them to the Landesbank ...the Iron Cross Looks very small to be a full size .. thou it has to be a Halfsize (halbgrösse) .. nice find .. Best regards Gerd
Gerd Miesbauer lol. . .thank you for the tip gerd. . i could pay some gas with it :) you are right about the iron cross! it's half size and maybe even a imitation. . we'll see, i'll let you know :) thank you for watching and commenting my friend! all the best,GL&HH! hans
Great video as usual Hans. Been waiting all week for it! :) The Iron Cross is a brilliant find. Looks like one for civilian wear as it appears smaller than the normal military version of the medal. They had different ones for different occasions, I think wives/widows could even wear them too in some instances if memory serves me correctly.
Nice video & finds Hans Love the iron cross. The first find of part 2 @ 12 minutes could be a badge from a german boy scouts knife, I have a knife with that same badge. GL&HH Don
Don koffie hello don! it's a nice one and it's my find of the day :) thank you for your interesting and helpful remark about the badge. . .you could be absolutely right as i didn't find traces of a pin on the backside . . . thank you for watching my videos don! i appreciate it my friend! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Shiel Stark hello my friend! nothing is impossible :) a viewer from new zealand told my that she found a reichspfennig on her site :) thank you for watching!!! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Hans, I await each of your videos with great anticipation. Perhaps its our shared heritage or shared interest in metal detecting. That large bowl shaped object reminds me of and electric motor end cover. Wasn't that small finger ring a beauty?! Great video as always! I'm so jealous right now because I'm in the frozen snow covered land of North America. Your videos help to get me through to spring. Thank you very much!
Robert Klauka hello robert! your comment made me really happy! it's a big compliment for me to think that people are anticipating my videos. . thank you for everything you've said and also for your help in defining the "bowl" object i will try to post the next video as soon as possible to help you endure the winter ;) thank you for watching my videos robert! i appreciate your support! all the best and soon GL&HH! hans
GroundDog Digs unfortunately it's not a real one. . .it's a cross for civilians who supported the war indirectly . . still a great find for me :) thank you for watching and commenting!!! all the best, GL&HH! hans
livingabovethe12th hello! welcome on my channel :) thank you for watching and subscribing! i'm glad you like my videos! please stay tuned :) all the best, hans
Guten Tag Hans. since you found the Iron Cross, I thought it appropriate to ask a question about military finds. I have not seen you find one of these items in the videos I have watched thus far (started with Number One,) however I have seen a number of them found on WWII battle fields in Germany and Russia. I refer to the ID tags worn by individual soldiers, Hundemarken(?) When I see a detectorist find these I wonder if any attempt is made to record them with some authority to see if they could aid in identifying a fallen soldier. I realize there were a variety of reasons why they may not be associated with a causality, but even then they might provide clues as to a missing soldier. There was a recent news items about two American Soldiers bodies being discovered and identified and returned for burial, due to someone finding one of our Dog Tags and it brought to mind the ones I see in the videos. Again, enjoy your videos, your patience and descriptions of your finds, the care with which you document each for archaeologists and for us the armchair folk!
hello randolph, I'm not explicitly searching for ww2 items as they are not really my cup of tea ;) of course I don't mind to find badges and finding a gun would be interesting too. I'm aware of the appropriate handling of these "hundemarken" we have institutions here in germany where you can report these and they take care of the identification of the soldier and the contacting of the descendants. they of course maintain relations to the respective institutions of the allies in case it is an english, american or french soldier. thank you for watching my videos and for your kind comment!! all the best, hans
Hallo Hans!
hi there nice finds the only thing i found strange about the video was the volume was low i had my computer volume right up and the youtube volume right up. but other than that thank you for sharing your finds especially the cross very cool. paul
racoonman100 hello paul! thank you! happy to hear that :) yes it's strange. . i've got another comment from a viewer telling me that the volume is quite low. . .i can't explain it, sorry. . .hope the other vids are ok. . . thank you for watching and commenting!!! all the best, hans
Hans Hans Hans, what can I say it again? LOL Nice thimble have you again, I still find nothing Fuck Y hahahahahaha. The Iron Cross is also a very nice find and also the scouting PIN is beautiful. Lately I find only some junk, but okay tomorrow I think a nice day to go search and now I will also go find a thimble you'll see. Nice weekend and put down a new film here again soon. Greetings Har
Harrie D hello harrie! haha. . sorry buddy but this meadow is extreme. . .thimbles are normally a relatively rare find for me too. . .i keep my fingers crossed for you to be successful this weekend! maybe you'll find your first thimble :) thank you for watching and commenting my friend! all the best, GL&HH! hans
john whitehead hello john. . . it's a nice one but unfortunately not the original. . .it's more likely a cross for civilians. trash is metal detecting reality. . .there is a necessity to show it :) thank you for watching and commenting!!! all the best, hans
Hallo Hans, the modern bullet is a 9mm Parabellum; it is used in pistols and sub machineguns. Most modern pistols use the 9mm PB, as did the German Army for its different pistols and sub machineguns too - the Luger, Walther P 38 and MP 40 for example. But also modern pistols such as the Beretta 92 (USA) and Glock (Austria) use this very common caliber. When it comes to the EK II, I don't think 1914 indicates the year it is received, rather when it was reinstated and whenever you received it later on, it would read 1914 during WW I. During WW II, then you will see 1939 at the bottom regardless of which year it was awarded. And I also did a great find today - have a look: s777.photobucket.com/user/xvii-Behlau/slideshow/Metal%20Detecting/2015%20Februari
Lars Wistedt hello lars! thank you for your interesting and helpful comment! this meadow definitely has a military history. . .i keep finding bullets, military badges, tent rivets, stripper clips cartridges etc. . .i'm looking forward to finding out more about this place :) you are right about the date on the iron cross. . .it's the beginning of ww1 and has nothing to do with the year it was handed over. for some reasons i wasn't able to open your link. . i'll try it later :) thank you for watching and commenting!!! all the best, GL&HH! hans
There were no Knight's Cross in WW1, it's a miniature necklace or trinket....probably worn by a child of an Iron Cross 1st or 2nd class recipient...I've seen some similar before...it is a great find.
what are the poles in the ground that leads your channel? I have some Bank Deutcher Lander coins and also the successor coins. DDR coins were aluminum I was there in 1975 traveling by train from Finland to Prague and of course some Koruna coins. That ww1 iron cross is a great find ! I am pleased to follow you - I was at Sembach near Kaiserslautern in the west.
+granskare it's a barrow of a celtic prince. . .follow this link for more: www.keltenwelt-glauberg.de/en/ thank you for watching and for your kind words :)
Sauna Tonttu hello! thank you for your interesting comment! that could be an explanation for the amount of thimbles i keep finding on this meadow! thank you for watching and commentig!!! all the best, GL&HH! hans
penguin chick hello my friend :) thank you for watching! i'm glad that you like my finds. . .i'm definitely happy about them too :) the iron cross was of course find of the day !! thank you for your kind comment! all the best, hans
Great video Hans, no really old relics but still nice finds. It's nice to find silver and gold but for me it's not the value of things but holding history in your hands. Is it possible to find out who lost the Iron Cross? Keep detecting that field it will give up something good soon. GL & HH Keith.
enginemaker hello keith, thank you! i'm very happy that you like my video! thats right. . .it's about the history and not the value of the objects. . .i'm happy to detect this meadow, it doesn't get boring :) finding the owner of the cross is almost impossible. . .it's not personalized with a name or something. . . i hope you are right about the field :) thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, GL&HH! hans
In 1973 DM 5 was my weekly pocket money, I felt rich. Then I let a 5M piece slide down between the car window and door body. Lost for good. Being a cortina (Taunus) it was doubled in value
hello andy. I can remember when 5 DM were my pocket money too. . It was a lot compared to 5€ today. heartbreaking story of you loosing your money . . I can imagine how appalled you must have been about that.maybe some scrap dealer found it and wondered about how it came there :D
Hello Hans! A little hint about iron crosses here, as you seemed to struggle to discover that the exemplary you found doesn't seem to be original: All of the iron crosses have the initials ''FW'' instead of just the ''W'' as in this case. That's being because the inventor of the iron cross (As military- award, of course...) was Friedrich Wilhelm III. in 1813, to honor participants of the uprising against Napoleon, hence his initials were inscripted onto any of those... They always have a backside, by the way. ;) Maybe you were aware of all that, but i just thought i might point that out in case you did not. Good luck and keep it up!
+suesswarendieb hello suesswarendieb, thank you for your helpful and informative comment. I was already told that it isn't what I thought it was. . one viewer said that it is the "ritterkreuz" that veterans would wear on their neck. . .I struggle to find a comparandum though. . thank you for watching and for your kind words! all the best, hans
sorry about that Hans, hit the wrong key, the 5 marks and yes it was a lot of money then. I will put this video up on the club forum, KMMDC, you are welcome on any time Hans, it might get you some more subscriptions, all the best my friend, take care, Regards Richard,GL&HH.
booeddie100 hello richard :) i'm fine, thank you! i hope you're fine too! i'm glad that you like my finds. . i'm very happy about them! it's amazing how many of my fellow youtubers have been stationed in germany. . .i didn't know that you've been here too :) thank you for posting my video on your forum. . .it's a very well designed and constructed site. . .i love your list of metal detector manuals. . very useful and interesting! thank you for watching my friend! i appreciate your support! take care too and best wishes,GH&HH! hans
The red looking bowl thing looked like the cover for a fire alarm bell like I see mounted on walls in public buildings. Any idea what the W in the middle of the Iron Cross stands for? Good hunt!
Greg Kerr hello greg, thank you for your guess! i always appreciate helpful comments! the w on the cross stands for wilhelm II the last german emperor who ruled germany from 1888 to 1918 :) thank you for watching and commenting! all the best, GL&HH! hans
+The Coughing Captain hello! thank you for watching and for your comment! you could be right about that. . there were hundreds of different styles and types of clothes fasteners like disc fibulae etc. . in medieval times. . maybe that's what it is :) all the best, hans
You are very lucky to have all that history in your backyard to detect. I m from B.C. Canada and I wish i had that at my finger tips. Great video. I found out i have a German background.Have you ever hear the last name Hatt in your country?
Hunter Hatt hello hunter hatt! yes, i know and i don't take it for granted! i treat the history with respect and i try to preserve it. . .thank you for watching my video! i'm glad you like it! yes, your name is definitely german. . . i'm always astonished how many canadian and american viewers have a german background :) all the best, alles gute :) hans
My grandfather was in the Canadian Military in ww2 and my great grandfather spent two years in a trench in France with the Britsh army. Its strange to think we are all kind of have the same connection. In ww2 I think the canadian , british and Americans has some respect for the german soldier and Airmen but there wasnt that respect when it came to the Japanese. They were a different Animal all together. I really enjoy the discoveries you have. just keep it up my friend!
LG, hans
+munched55 thank you for watching and for your help! i didn't know about the caliber . . . i was able to define the boy scout badge. . it's a so called "bundeslilie" i always show a picture of the cleaned and defined finds after each find. . there you can see the explanation :) all the best, hans
Ansonsten Top- Präsentation, weiter so !
wadoman699 hello my friend! yes it is :) i'd say it was a camp site where boy scouts and military units had field days. . i keep finding bullets, badges, stripper clips, buckles of gas masks etc. . .later on it could have been used as a fair ground. . .it would explain the modern money! the w on the cross stands for wilhelm II the last german emperor who ruled germany from 1888 to 1918. thank you for watching and commenting :) all the best, hans
TekReview's thank you for telling me my friend. . .i'm not very familiar with calibres of guns. . .thank you for watching and commenting!!! all the best, hans
TerraGermania Yes I am not into the gun thing either. Some of those coins bring back memories of the fairs in Germany. Watching the Soccer Games in Wirfus and spending money at the Shooting Gallery for toy prizes.
I told my cousin after he passed away to leave me a penny so I know he is watching over me. I seem to find a lot of pennies on the ground everywhere I go.
Westcoast Mark hello mark :) thank you, i'm glad you like them! it's hard to tell how old the thimbles are as they were made the same way for centuries . .i think most of the thimbles i find date from the 16 to the 18th century. . one i've found is definitely medieval and another one could even be roman :) thank you for watching and commenting!!! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Hello Hans. Did you go to a new camera for this video? It's 1080p but you've gone to a full screen presentation. Very well done as usual and nice finds.
+Deluk hello deluk, the camera is the same. I've just chosen another picture format. . .I'm and autodidact in filming so I'm still learning ..haha thank you for watching my videos and for your kind words! I'm happy to hear that you like my videos and the finds! all the best, hans
+TerraGermania Thanks for the reply. Your editing makes it seem that there is someone else doing the filming and that's hard to do, also time consuming. Very impressive. With your camera being held together with tape and super glue you could do worse than bidding, and winning, this faulty one on eBay, Item #221941885924 or search for HX-WA30. Good luck.I started by watching your most recent ones but enjoyed them so much I went back to #1. I have a few more to watch to bridge the gap.As you do GPS logging, I wonder if you've done a finds map of your dream and buckle fields? It could be done as separate plots chronologically and would tell you and/or your archaeologist what parts are the most productive. I expect that you know that by now in a general way of course.Happy hunting.
my pleasure! It makes me happy to hear that my filming generates the impression of having a camera man :) It isn't as time consuming as it was in the beginning . . I'm used to my methods . . .thank you for your hint about the camcorder. . I'm shocked about how high the price of these cameras went. I thought they would become more cheap over the time. I don't transfer my gps coordinates to maps anymore as the archaeologists have more professional methods of doing that and fortunately I have access to these maps :) thank you for watching my videos! I appreciate your support! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Harrie D hello again :) it is a celtic barrow which is not very far away from frankfurt. . .you can buy the cd with all the music from my videos. . .check this site: www.notabene-musik.de/page10/page10.html thank you for watching my videos :)
Derek Naylor hello my friend! thank you, i'm glad to hear you like the finds :) the w on the cross stands for wilhelm II the last german emperor who ruled germany from 1888-1918 thank you for watching!!! all the best, GL&HH! hans
Hi Hans. The tap thing at 10.48, is almost 100% definitely a Victorian gas light valve, for a wall mounted gas lamp. Here is a picture of a more ornate version. img1.etsystatic.com/000/0/5264348/il_fullxfull.187987569.jpg Hope that helps. P.
conversely123 hey P. thank you so much for your helpful comment and the fantastic picture. . .it's a really ornate and beautiful comparandum! it's great to know exactly what it is :) thank you for watching!!! all the best, hans
.so!!
LG, hans
Where do you find the time to hunt? Do you have a job? Where is all the snow? Does it snow there? Ha ha! Do you have to report all your finds to an archeologist? Just a few questions.
Matthew Summers hello matthew! i'm in the fortunate position to have a job with a lot of spare time :). . .we had snow but only for a short time. . .at the moment it's quite cold but it's dry and sunny. i have to report all substantial finds such as celtic, roman or medieval. . .i show everything i can't evaluate but i don't have to show every reichspfennig ;) thank you for watching!!!
+Marco Ceccarelli hello marco! thank you, glad you like them. . unfortunately I don't sell any of my finds. . but I don't have ww2 buckles anyways ;) thank you for watching! all the best, hans
Beste, Anna
+Anna M. Addison hello anna,
It's great that you watch all my videos! thank you for that and for your kind comments :)
all the best,
hans
Hello Hans. Another great video. You know I love the relics you find and again another great bunch. I love the ring, the fleur-de-lis badge and the brass tap.
Dan
Dan Chamberlain hello dan!
thank you for watching my videos! i'm very happy to hear that you like them! wiesbaden is just around the corner from my place and you're right, it's an area with a lot of history and it's beautiful too :)
all the best,
hans
Very nice finds Hans ! Iron cross is awesome...I can see troughout your videos you also have an eye for the nature around you and especially the lovely birds. I have the feeling that most of us, detectorsists, love being in the out as a welcome side effect of detecting. Keep the goodies coming ;-) GL & HH !
Johan de vlieger hello johan :)
i'm happy to hear that you like my finds! the iron cross is really cool and a nice piece of history. . .
i love nature, that's right and the birds are always around, pleasing me with their appearance and their lovely singing. . .i never feel alone :)
thank you for watching my videos johan! i appreciate it!
all the best, GL&HH!
***** hello fred!
thank you, i'm glad you like the hunt!
very interesting what you've said about the bowl thing! i instantly knew what you meant as i 've seen something like this before. . .yo are also right about the gas valve!
thank you for watching my videos fred! i appreciate your support!
all the best,
hans
That Iron Cross looks identical to what was sold in Dime Stores in the USA when I was a boy...around 1960. They had black enamal with white trim and were about the same size. Always the W and 1914, never the Swastika and 1939. I think it's a reproduction marketed for Kids.
Wow Hans, what great finds! That Iron Cross is stunning.... if I was to go to Germany to detect and found only 1 thing and it was a cross like that, I would go home perfectly happy! An early relic of the "Great War"... what a day! I guess that parking lot find was a real omen! Cheers! Al
***** hello al :)
i'm very happy about the find result and you are right maybe the one pfennig from the parking lot helped me finding it ;) these war relics are strange finds. . on the one hand they fascinate you because of their history on the other hand they give you the creeps because you know what these soldiers had to endure. . .
thank you for watching my videos al! i appreciate it my friend!
all the best, GL&HH!
Frank D'Alberto hello frank :) thank you for watching my video! i'm glad you like my finds! the w on the cross stands for wilhelm II the last german emperor who ruled germany from 1888 to 1918. . .it makes me very happy that you like the way of my filming!!! it encourages me to continue :)
i wish you good detecting weather soon! thank you for your kind comment!
all the best, GL&HH!
GL & HH
Rachel Norton hello rachel!
thank you! i'm so happy that you like it!
haha poor kids. . could very well be! you are right about the "pot thing" i thought about the lid of something. . the two holes could be from a missing handle. . .
the cross is indeed in a stunning condition . . the first viewer already doubted the genuineness of the cross because of that. . i'm not sure but i'm happy anyways :)
thank you for watching and for your kind comment :)
all the best, GL&HH!
hans
Hans, your videos are very well done and I really enjoy watching them. I found your channel a few weeks ago and subscribed right away. It's too cold and snowy here in Michigan USA to detect so your channel keeps me going until I can get out myself. Thanks for the channel, and HH

Hello, Nice hunt, nice coins and finds. The vidéo is very well. What you fund at 9,15 is what the fisher use to catch a big fish. Hope to see more. So sorry for my english.
Bye Chris.

Richard Bacon hello richard!
haha. . always these mean moments. . but on the other hand they keep the juices running on a cold day . . :)
i'm not depressed. . .maybe it came across like that but it's not the way i feel. . .i really like detecting this meadow as it has a different spectrum of finds to offer. . .and in a few weeks i will be detecting my dream field again :)
congrats on your 1700s coins. . i love coins from this century and i consider them to be top finds!
thank you for watching and commenting my friend!
all the best, GL&HH!

Wow ! If only those items could tell a story. The iron cross was like a memorial keepsake maybe a necklace or something similar. Worth money as it's rare. Interesting video (y)
hello paul,
that would be great. I would have so many questions. thank you for watching and for your kind comment. all the best,
hans
Another awesome video! Always cool to see the early war relics come out of the ground. Yeh...its always nice to find the precious metals but the old relics can be just as or even sometimes more rewarding. Keep up the vids and good luck on your next venture!

Hello Hans, wonderful hunt. Enjoyed every minute, thank you. If you would allow me, I believe that large bowl may be an air cleaner or filter cover perhaps from a tractor.. Gl/ HH until next time my friend…bill

Good work on the iron cross - different type to the one I found and yours is what I thought iron crosses looked like - I didn't recognise the one I found, lol
GL&HH
Pondguru thank you richard! it might not be an iron cross that a soldier would have got for military bravery but it's definitely from the time of ww1. . i'm still trying to find out how it was used.
thank you for watching! GL&HH!
hans
TerraGermania I'm no good on WWI or WWII history but I'm sure one of the viewers will advise on exactly what type it is and where it was worn.
me neither lol. . .you are right about the viewers. . i already received interesting hints . . .
TerraGermania Glad they have been helpful. When I found my iron cross most of them just told me I was stupid for not recognising it, lol
lol. . .even here in germany not everyone would recognizes the iron cross. . so no worries
some great finds, well done, really enjoying your videos
lonewolf thank you lonewolf! i'm glad to hear that! please stay tuned and thank you for watching my videos!!!

I Love the Iron Cross a little WWI history and you find more thimbles then anybody :) & a Boy Scout badge is pretty cool too it looks real old.
YFZMoto it's always amazing when these items pop out of the ground. . .very exciting moments! haha. . yes the thimbles. . .i'm just thinking about a reason why there are so many of them on this meadow!?
thank you for watching and commenting!!!

hans
Great finds Hans! I'm surprised the iron cross is not silver! You must be hunting near an air base. I'm pretty sure I heard a C-5 Galaxy pass over your head at one point. Best wishes and HH, Dave.
Daddydigger1 hello dave,
thank you my friend! i'm not sure, maybe it is. . .but i've learned that it could be only a civilian version of the iron cross. . .anyways, still a nice find :)
the frankfurt airport is not far away but i don't know if galaxies start and land there. . .
thank you for watching and commenting!!!
all the best, GL&HH!
hans
TerraGermania, Thank You for your Thank You.
You must find a ribbon and box on ebay sometime for the Cross you have found, happy digging.
+exsgt007 haha. . my pleasure :)
that would be cool. . but wearing it on my neck would be another option ;)
Another great video ,i was shocked seeing the 5 mark piece as i was holding the same coin in my hand that i found last week ,it was from 1976 and has a g mark next to the date .Maybe that small strange thing is a helmet for a small Tommy soldier from ww1 lol GL&HH John
JOHN MCDONALD hello john,
lol really?? what a coincidence ! it was a lot of money back in the german mark time. . i remember that it once was my pocket money for one week when i was about 14 years old or so :)
lol. . .or a bowl for kraut ;)
thank you for watching and commenting my friend!
all the best, GL&HH!
hans
Well done Hans,
Over 8 Marks = € 4,00 Spendies if you bring them to the Landesbank ...the Iron Cross Looks very small to be a full size .. thou it has to be a Halfsize (halbgrösse) .. nice find ..
Best regards
Gerd
Gerd Miesbauer lol. . .thank you for the tip gerd. . i could pay some gas with it :)
you are right about the iron cross! it's half size and maybe even a imitation. . we'll see, i'll let you know :)

Always a pleasure Hans ..
GL
Best regards
Gerd
Wow Hans, finding a watch winder in a field must be as hard as finding a watch winder in a field :)
haha definitely! :D
Nice video & finds Hans
Love the iron cross.
The first find of part 2 @ 12 minutes could be a badge from a german boy scouts knife, I have a knife with that same badge.
GL&HH Don
Don koffie hello don!
it's a nice one and it's my find of the day :)
thank you for your interesting and helpful remark about the badge. . .you could be absolutely right as i didn't find traces of a pin on the backside . . .

Robert Klauka hello robert!
your comment made me really happy! it's a big compliment for me to think that people are anticipating my videos. . thank you for everything you've said and also for your help in defining the "bowl" object

Again, enjoy your videos, your patience and descriptions of your finds, the care with which you document each for archaeologists and for us the armchair folk!
hello randolph,
I'm not explicitly searching for ww2 items as they are not really my cup of tea ;) of course I don't mind to find badges and finding a gun would be interesting too. I'm aware of the appropriate handling of these "hundemarken" we have institutions here in germany where you can report these and they take care of the identification of the soldier and the contacting of the descendants. they of course maintain relations to the respective institutions of the allies in case it is an english, american or french soldier.
thank you for watching my videos and for your kind comment!!
all the best,
hans
Hallo Hans! :-)
Max Koschuh hallo max!

PS: das autokennzeichen HH bedeutet übrigens hansestadt hamburg ;)
hi there nice finds the only thing i found strange about the video was the volume was low i had my computer volume right up and the youtube volume right up.

paul
racoonman100 hello paul!

all the best,
hans
No worries it's all good good luck out there.

Harrie D hello harrie!
haha. . sorry buddy but this meadow is extreme. . .thimbles are normally a relatively rare find for me too. . .i keep my fingers crossed for you to be successful this weekend! maybe you'll find your first thimble :)
thank you for watching and commenting my friend!
all the best, GL&HH!
hans
a very nice iron cross hans, and nice to see on your vids the amount of trash you have to dig! all the best.
john whitehead hello john. . .
it's a nice one but unfortunately not the original. . .it's more likely a cross for civilians.
trash is metal detecting reality. . .there is a necessity to show it :)
thank you for watching and commenting!!!
all the best,
hans
And I also did a great find today - have a look:
s777.photobucket.com/user/xvii-Behlau/slideshow/Metal%20Detecting/2015%20Februari
Lars Wistedt hello lars!
thank you for your interesting and helpful comment! this meadow definitely has a military history. . .i keep finding bullets, military badges, tent rivets, stripper clips cartridges etc. . .i'm looking forward to finding out more about this place :)
you are right about the date on the iron cross. . .it's the beginning of ww1 and has nothing to do with the year it was handed over.
for some reasons i wasn't able to open your link. . i'll try it later :)
thank you for watching and commenting!!!
all the best, GL&HH!
hans
this iron cross is a miniature of the knights cross worn around the neck. Great find.look at the ring position, 2nd class is at 90 deg.
+Haggis Eater hello!
thank you for your explanation and for watching my video!
all the best,
+granskare it's a barrow of a celtic prince. . .follow this link for more: www.keltenwelt-glauberg.de/en/
thank you for watching and for your kind words :)
Thimbles were used as protection while working on the field. One on each finger.
Sauna Tonttu hello!
thank you for your interesting comment! that could be an explanation for the amount of thimbles i keep finding on this meadow!
thank you for watching and commentig!!!
all the best, GL&HH!
hans
Great stuff and thanksWW2HH
very cool finds hans, gotta love the iron cross, and the ring, and the thimble LOL should i keep going? :)
penguin chick hello my friend :) thank you for watching! i'm glad that you like my finds. . .i'm definitely happy about them too :) the iron cross was of course find of the day !!
thank you for your kind comment!
all the best,
hans
haha. . danke :) es freut mich, dass du dranbleibst!
Great video Hans, no really old relics but still nice finds. It's nice to find silver and gold but for me it's not the value of things but holding history in your hands. Is it possible to find out who lost the Iron Cross? Keep detecting that field it will give up something good soon. GL & HH Keith.
enginemaker hello keith,
thank you! i'm very happy that you like my video!
thats right. . .it's about the history and not the value of the objects. . .i'm happy to detect this meadow, it doesn't get boring :)
finding the owner of the cross is almost impossible. . .it's not personalized with a name or something. . .
i hope you are right about the field :)
thank you for watching and for your kind comment!
all the best, GL&HH!

At 09:04 it is a swivel for a falcon , a smal falcon , that is used in falconry .
Hello Hans!
A little hint about iron crosses here, as you seemed to struggle to discover that the exemplary you found doesn't seem to be original:
All of the iron crosses have the initials ''FW'' instead of just the ''W'' as in this case. That's being because the inventor of the iron cross (As military- award, of course...) was Friedrich Wilhelm III. in 1813, to honor participants of the uprising against Napoleon, hence his initials were inscripted onto any of those... They always have a backside, by the way. ;)
Maybe you were aware of all that, but i just thought i might point that out in case you did not.
Good luck and keep it up!
+suesswarendieb hello suesswarendieb,
thank you for your helpful and informative comment. I was already told that it isn't what I thought it was. . one viewer said that it is the "ritterkreuz" that veterans would wear on their neck. . .I struggle to find a comparandum though. .
thank you for watching and for your kind words!
all the best,
hans
The iron cross that I have at home has "W" and "1914" on the one side and "FW" and "1813" on the other.
sorry about that Hans, hit the wrong key, the 5 marks and yes it was a lot of money then. I will put this video up on the club forum, KMMDC, you are welcome on any time Hans, it might get you some more subscriptions, all the best my friend, take care, Regards Richard,GL&HH.
booeddie100 hello richard :)
i'm fine, thank you! i hope you're fine too! i'm glad that you like my finds. . i'm very happy about them! it's amazing how many of my fellow youtubers have been stationed in germany. . .i didn't know that you've been here too :)
thank you for posting my video on your forum. . .it's a very well designed and constructed site. . .i love your list of metal detector manuals. . very useful and interesting!
thank you for watching my friend! i appreciate your support!
take care too and best wishes,GH&HH!
hans
Great as always !!!
Ernesto Frettlöhr thank you ernesto :) i'm glad you like my video!
tank you for watching!!!
all the best,
hans
The red looking bowl thing looked like the cover for a fire alarm bell like I see mounted on walls in public buildings. Any idea what the W in the middle of the Iron Cross stands for? Good hunt!
Greg Kerr hello greg,
thank you for your guess! i always appreciate helpful comments!
the w on the cross stands for wilhelm II the last german emperor who ruled germany from 1888 to 1918 :)
thank you for watching and commenting!
all the best, GL&HH!
hans
your find at 8:00 might be a holder for a cape or a different clothing piece... could be medieval
+The Coughing Captain hello! thank you for watching and for your comment!
you could be right about that. . there were hundreds of different styles and types of clothes fasteners like disc fibulae etc. . in medieval times. . maybe that's what it is :)
all the best,
hans
The item at 17:30 looks like an air cleaner cover for a tractor or vehicle to me
You are very lucky to have all that history in your backyard to detect. I m from B.C. Canada and I wish i had that at my finger tips. Great video. I found out i have a German background.Have you ever hear the last name Hatt in your country?
Hunter Hatt hello hunter hatt!
yes, i know and i don't take it for granted! i treat the history with respect and i try to preserve it. . .thank you for watching my video! i'm glad you like it!
yes, your name is definitely german. . . i'm always astonished how many canadian and american viewers have a german background :)
all the best, alles gute :)
hans
My grandfather was in the Canadian Military in ww2 and my great grandfather spent two years in a trench in France with the Britsh army. Its strange to think we are all kind of have the same connection. In ww2 I think the canadian , british and Americans has some respect for the german soldier and Airmen but there wasnt that respect when it came to the Japanese. They were a different Animal all together. I really enjoy the discoveries you have. just keep it up my friend!
reiner traeger hallo reiner!
LG,
hans
didn't see if anyone already mentioned that the bullet is 9mm and the badge looks to be Boy Scout.
+munched55 thank you for watching and for your help! i didn't know about the caliber . . . i was able to define the boy scout badge. . it's a so called "bundeslilie" i always show a picture of the cleaned and defined finds after each find. . there you can see the explanation :)
all the best,
hans
Hallo Hans,
Ansonsten Top- Präsentation, weiter so !
hallo!
LG,
hans
Hans, that is a great site. Maybe an old home site? Congratulations on that sweet Iron Cross. What does the W stand for in the middle?
wadoman699 hello my friend!
yes it is :) i'd say it was a camp site where boy scouts and military units had field days. . i keep finding bullets, badges, stripper clips, buckles of gas masks etc. . .later on it could have been used as a fair ground. . .it would explain the modern money!
the w on the cross stands for wilhelm II the last german emperor who ruled germany from 1888 to 1918.
thank you for watching and commenting :)
all the best,
hans
Hans I think the bullet is a .38 caliber. The short snub nosed gun.
TekReview's thank you for telling me my friend. . .i'm not very familiar with calibres of guns. . .thank you for watching and commenting!!!
all the best,
hans
TerraGermania Yes I am not into the gun thing either. Some of those coins bring back memories of the fairs in Germany. Watching the Soccer Games in Wirfus and spending money at the Shooting Gallery for toy prizes.
I told my cousin after he passed away to leave me a penny so I know he is watching over me. I seem to find a lot of pennies on the ground everywhere I go.
I think the big item is a primer gass engine
6:05 listen to that sound, awesome
Max Koschuh haha. . .
Its a falconry swivel I have them the same Hawking swivel or should I say furniture All the best mate Pete UK
17:31 it could also be from a car , where the lamp goes in that may explain the holes
+fsls13 you might be right about that. . good guess! thank you for watching and for your helpful comment!
all the best,
hans
haha. . egal, wir haben uns verstanden :)
TerraGermania dat stimmt
Great finds Hans! I like the iron cross and of course the thimble. Do you know old the thimbles you are finding are?
GL&HH
Mark
Westcoast Mark hello mark :)
thank you, i'm glad you like them! it's hard to tell how old the thimbles are as they were made the same way for centuries . .i think most of the thimbles i find date from the 16 to the 18th century. . one i've found is definitely medieval and another one could even be roman :)
thank you for watching and commenting!!!
all the best, GL&HH!
hans
vlg, GL&HH!
hans
ok,danke...weiter viel glück !
dir auch, danke :)
Hello Hans. Did you go to a new camera for this video? It's 1080p but you've gone to a full screen presentation. Very well done as usual and nice finds.
+Deluk hello deluk,
the camera is the same. I've just chosen another picture format. . .I'm and autodidact in filming so I'm still learning ..haha
thank you for watching my videos and for your kind words! I'm happy to hear that you like my videos and the finds!
all the best,
hans
I don't transfer my gps coordinates to maps anymore as the archaeologists have more professional methods of doing that and fortunately I have access to these maps :)
thank you for watching my videos! I appreciate your support!
all the best, GL&HH!
hans
At 9:07 you have a swivel. Cheers Hans.
Oh one more question, in the beginning of your video is a hill is that a mound? and where is that?
you always have nice music, so that's also said.
Harrie D hello again :) it is a celtic barrow which is not very far away from frankfurt. . .you can buy the cd with all the music from my videos. . .check this site:
www.notabene-musik.de/page10/page10.html
thank you for watching my videos :)
brilliant finds and video hans great mix of finds :)..is the W on the iron cross for wehrmacht ?
Derek Naylor hello my friend! thank you, i'm glad to hear you like the finds :) the w on the cross stands for wilhelm II the last german emperor who ruled germany from 1888-1918
thank you for watching!!!
all the best, GL&HH!
hans
Hi Hans. The tap thing at 10.48, is almost 100% definitely a Victorian gas light valve, for a wall mounted gas lamp.
Here is a picture of a more ornate version.
img1.etsystatic.com/000/0/5264348/il_fullxfull.187987569.jpg
Hope that helps. P.
conversely123 hey P.
thank you so much for your helpful comment and the fantastic picture. . .it's a really ornate and beautiful comparandum! it's great to know exactly what it is :)
thank you for watching!!!
all the best,
hans
Moin Hans,
.so!! ;)
LG,
hans
Another question : What does the 'W' on the iron cross stand for ?
+David White the W stands for Wilhelm II. the former emperor of germany. . .
+TerraGermania : Thanks.
LG,
hans
ich drück dir die Daumen
für gute funde!
danke dir :)
thank you
TOM EMBLETON hello tom!
thank you for watching!!!
all the best,
hans
Where do you find the time to hunt? Do you have a job? Where is all the snow? Does it snow there? Ha ha! Do you have to report all your finds to an archeologist? Just a few questions.
Oh by the way...your new name is "Thimble Man". I as well enjoy finding thimbles. Im up to about 6 from the same field.
Matthew Summers lol. . ok, i can live with that :) thimbles are lovely finds and very collectable. . .congrats on your ones :)
Matthew Summers hello matthew!
i'm in the fortunate position to have a job with a lot of spare time :). . .we had snow but only for a short time. . .at the moment it's quite cold but it's dry and sunny.
i have to report all substantial finds such as celtic, roman or medieval. . .i show everything i can't evaluate but i don't have to show every reichspfennig ;)
thank you for watching!!!
? difference between mark and phrenic? compared to usa money?
one mark was approximately one dollar. . maybe even more.
thank you for watching!
awesome videos would you sell any German World War 2 belt buckles
+Marco Ceccarelli hello marco!
thank you, glad you like them. .
unfortunately I don't sell any of my finds. . but I don't have ww2 buckles anyways ;)
thank you for watching!
all the best,
hans
+TerraGermania thank you I appreciate that if you know anybody let me know my wife's grandfather fought in World War 2 he got all his medals stolen
my pleasure :)
