I gave up metal detecting years ago, there was nobody in my part of Texas 150 years ago. Nothing but a bunch of poor dirt farmers. If I lived on ancient grounds like you, I'd be out every weekend. Great finds!
In Norfolk VA metal detectors metal detectors can be checked out at the library, It just started this year. Your choice of music & your photography are the best. .
Filming at golden hour like this allowed you to beautifully capture the essence of autumn. You are a master videographer, Hans! Congratulations on all the wonderful finds, and thanks for the video!
Always love your videos. They are consistently great quality in finds as well as in the video itself. I love how much care and effort you put into each one.
Amazing finds! I appreciate that sometimes you show us all the trash too. The treasures to trash ratio keeps things realistic in terms of showing all the false signals you still must dig to get the good items. That spoon fragment was very interesting. Congratulations!!!!
The first coin of the video is a celtic coin. It is called "potin à la grosse tête" in french and "sequaner potin" in Germany. This kind of celtic coin is usually found in east of France, Switzerland and in south-west of Germany
thank you very much for defining the coin for me! I'm so excited about this coin. It's very interesting to find a Celtic coin on a roman villa site. It's known that the Celts made the land arable before the Romans invaded. There could have been a Celtic farmstead before. I hope I will find more evidence for that.
Thank you for another beautiful video, Hans, so appreciative of your dedication and artistry. Good thing about taking out all that trash is that you won't have to detect it again. Congrats on those gorgeous coins!
thank you for watching and for your support my friend :) that's right.you also make it easier for your detector to find possible deeper targets that get camouflaged by shallow trash layers.
Oh Hans.... 201 videos! Holy smokes, congratulations! Beautiful shot of the sunset and deer. Good job finding the silver. You take care, big hugs....Beste, Anna
hey anna :) it's been over 10 years that I started filming. I totally missed to make a jubilee episode :D thank you for being a loyal viewer and friend over the years! I appreciate your support :) all the best, take care, too and big hugs, hans
Hans, I am so excited to tell you that I recognize the bronze coin! I found one exactly like it in the Albs. It is a Celtic coin from the Sequani tribe. It is indeed a stylized wolf on the back. If memory serves me correctly, it is roughly 100 to 60 B.C.!!
I am so thankful for this channel - every video is classy, beautifully arranged, relaxing, interesting, and positive. You dig up treasures, but the rest of us have already found our treasures, in every new video that you post.
Thank you for showing the trash you dug at the end of the video, gives us a visual of all the disapointment you persevere through to find the treasure.
Thanks for the wonderful videos over the years. This year marks my 50th year of metal detection, My mantra has been "dig every signal". If I had not done, and continue to do this, the mind boggles at the treasures I would have missed. Keep up the good work.
50 years of metal detection 😲. In some weird way you do beat me but at 54 years old I do remember as a toddler following my Dad metal detecting around a beach way back in the erly 70's which I think did start my venture into metal detecting and I have enjoyed every second to present. 😀🙂. P.s. I dig every signal also. 😊.
my pleasure. thank you for watching my videos and for your kind comment. I pretty much dig every signal, too. I had too many eye opener moments when I checked "bad signals" and they turned out to be something. congrats on 50 years in the hobby :)
Great video today, I really enjoy your efforts. I too do a lot of detecting over here in the U.S. It's nice just to be out with God and nature, and you never know what you might find. Your videos are so peaceful keep it up.
G’day again from Australia, Hans It is great to see you back out in the “Roman field” and I too enjoyed the finds you found on this dig. As for the trash you found. I am sure the farmer will be grateful lol. Best wishes. Andy

I’ll say it for you Hans, WOW!! It must have been a village located at that location. Would like to go back in time to see what it was like at that time. You’re the best. Your friend from Athens, Georgia.
thank you my friend :) there was a roman villa on this field. in dry years one can see the outlines of the buildings showing as crop marks. all the best and greetings from germany, hans
Hi Hans, nice hunt once again, we never know what we'll find on the day. A few nice surprises came up today, well found. Good luck for your next outing 👌👍😀👋 Tony
Hello Tony, thank you for watching and for commenting :) I really had to work hard for these finds. I have to do a video where I show every dig because one can get a wrong impression about the field when watching the video :D All the best to you and happy hunting, Hans
Thanks for the great video. The range and variety of targets far exceeds anything we have over here in California. What an exciting day you had. Good hunting.
problem is I haven't got a collection as I hand over all substantial finds to the department of archaeology :) thank you for watching and for your kindcomment!
Such a large coin, I don't think I've seen one that large before. Beautiful relic Hans. I love it when you're excited and so pleased with what you've found. I always wish you well.

Lovely Hans! Really great filming too my friend: (Even your B-Roll is a 'cut above' 🙏🏻). Really love that Denarius, and it cleaned up beautifully hey? Thanks so much for taking us along... Bobby 🐝
Removing all the trash is arguably as time worthy as preserving the great finds. Absolutely love your videos. Do you ever think about making a trip to the US to detect with any of our more known detectorists? The finds would not be as old but the comradery and preservation of history would be just as important.
