I also own one. I bought it 6 years ago as my first car. It still makes me smile everytime I drive it. This is the best hot hatch for the money!
whalerracing I fill like I need one badly !
Still got it?
i would argue this is the worlds most fun car to drive ever
@@ODEL__ a 1.5 dci?
@FEGToroTTSDH orosbu çocuğu 2.0 16v
I own one, and I can really recommend buying one.
Can you drive MANY miles with it? Without needing a new back??
Steve Hash def no, but the driving experience is just simply amazing.
thanks for uploading this!!! for us who are looking for an "first car".
I owned this exact car back in the day
I want one of these now. Thanks for the "suggestion" Hammond! (and Men and Motors for that matter.) Thanks Guys! :-D.
Do you have one now
Just bought a phase 2 and it was due the belts an dephaser. Took it to renault and they wanted £1019 just for the timing belt and aux belt. I nearly shat a brick, so having it done at a specialist he's doing the lot for £485.
Does the phase 1 need a dephaser?
That happened cause they already were low on parts.
The reason I bought a 206 GTi instead of a clio 172 is because the clio is (at least where i live) pretty expensive to maintain, and there aren't many parts around, whereas the 206 is much cheaper to maintain. But in terms of sheer fun and driving - i would take the clio any day over the pug!
Timing belt kit 75euro
Special Tools ~100euro
Dephaser 100eu
Crankshaft pulley + screws ~200 Euro
Easy fix at home

Even specialist garages don't like doing it. I just took my 182 in for all the belts as well as a clutch and they just pulled the engine out because it made everything quicker and easier. I don't think your average home mechanic really wants to be removing engine mounts to perform regular maintenance. Fair play if you do though, but it's not a reasonable suggestion for most people.
cheers again for this wish there was a review on a 1.2 16V 2001 model though haha ive just passed my test and looking for a first car i think the clio route is probs best ! Thanks for this
Don't get a 1.2 ANYTHING you will be kicking yourself forever, honestly bear minimum should be 1.4 I have the Clio 182 and its well worth it :-D big smiles all round.
dont listen to him! 1.2 is as big as you can afford after just passing! i have the 1.2 clio 2003, love it! faster than you think mind
TheJimsterJim I reckon at least a 1.4, all guys when they pass wanna drive fast lol.
I have the 2001 version it good First car :d Quick too I got mine for £700 too however had to spend a bit on repairing it.
Try to stay away from second hand french cars. They drop to bits and blow up. Go Japanese or German if possible.
Neeeeeeed the song name from the intro
what's that song! and no it ain't darude haha
Darude - before the storm
Hottest of the hot hatches until the Civic Type R came along! If you have 5 grand to spend an EP3 is still the fastest / most reliable / practical thing to go for.
And the Civic is A LOT better build quality. Especially the engines.
Uneducated noob and sucker the Honda Civic R is in the class of the Renault Megane
So compare it to the King and reference "Megane 3 RS" but not with the Clio RS !
Pandemonium Lig I said for £5000 or less. You can't get a good condition Megane 3 RS for that. Unless it's not been looked after and is dropping to bits, or has been in a smash. Also the civic was compared to the Clio 172 back before the Megane was invented. Look up the video of Clio 172/ civic type r / MG ZR
I never managed to break mine on track. Missed gears and all.
What problems have this car? please tell me all about it
Not so crazy actually in my opinion. But if You plan on working on it yourself some gray hair will result. Changing timing belt for example requires special tools and is a pain in the a…
Lot of strange engineering solutions on that one.
But as said, sounds amazing, pulls Ok, handles like a go-kart.
