Sorry to hear you're under the weather bud, but I just wanted to say how happy I am to have found this channel. I'm originally from South Africa and I used to buy a gaming magazine called New Age Gaming every single month on release day...the main reason being that they had a free disk full of video content. The videos I would look forward to most were The Final Bosman! Your style of critique and discussion paired with genuine authenticity just really appeals to me. Given that we had terrible and overpriced internet, that was my only access to the show and I was so sad when that era came to an end. Then all these years later I heard a reference to your channel during the Friends Per Second podcast... I still get the same excitement to hear you speak about something in the games industry that is completely outside of my expectations. Keep up the awesome work bud and I hope you get better soon!
@@kennethwells4177Yeah I can't say I ever remember seeing Final Bosman on any of the disks I looked at. I do recall them having a lot of Game Trailers videos in them though, which were quite fun and I remember seeing Kyle appear in some of those. Cool to see other people who enjoyed the New Age Gaming Magazines, loved them growing up.
Funny you highlighted Mario Odyssey, I have gone back to watch the EZA reaction to the Mario and zelda BOTW trailers soooooo many times. Infectious joy.
I'm happy someone pointed out how badly the Indy scene was shot/edited. I felt like I was taking crazy pills. Especially since Spielberg is very good at directing action comedy moments.
I don't understand this hype of XBOX E3 showing. I predicted they would be showing alot of games (to get into the Good graces of gamers and hopefully hype up Gamepass), but most will just be CGI for games that are 4-6 years away. And that's exactly how it happened. Then you got to consider the fact that almost all of these games are gonna be on PS5....
Kyle break down of the weird direction of trailers or cutscenes was great. It's the kinda stuff that takes me out of games when cutscenes make no sense and have awful shot composition.
I love that he has hair. My first thought for why he would put the bandana on quickly is that he’s embarrassed he’s bald, but nope he has a full head of hair.
Actually, anyone who has finished Gears 3 knows Marcus has a full head of hair, as he takes the doo-rag off in the final cutscene of the campaign. That being said, Marcus' GOW3 hair is so Marvel's Wolverine-like/UE3 dated that you immediately want him to put the bandana back on. It's just one big black clump of short, spiky hair 😂
I think variety is an interesting one, because it DOES need to be there on a fundamental level and people will complain if it isn't, but variety also usually ends up sparking the most common complaints (people who only play one genre/are anticipating one specific game upset about everything else taking up time). Always appreciate the analysis, these shows are so interesting from production viewpoints!
Considering Perfect Dark looked like a combination of Deus Ex and Mirrors Edge I don't think it was purely prestige in my eyes. It may not be original in terms of gameplay, but it did look like exciting gameplay from an immersive sim-like perspective.
Yea Game of the show, but it also looked scripted like the initial Bioshock Infinite gameplay reveal, it’s more of a target than a preview of the final product.
Kyle I am so with you on that cutscene direction, I also am baffled at people saying how good it looked. You managed to put into words the nitpics I was thinking.
@@ThisAlbino You’re watching this trailer thinking yeah perfect dark is back and looking cool with all its grounded sci-fi near future tech spy espionage, then BAM! A fucking huge colorful glowing orb with mfers in hazmats suits approaching it in this trippy sequence. That’s a doc brown spider monster, for sure.
I think I finally know how it is to one who is not into anime/JRPGs watchin a Nintendo Direct full of Japanese titles. I enjoy Doom, but I don't gush over it the same way as so many others do. I'll probably try Perfect Dark, but I don't get how others are so hyped for it after the trailer. It felt like an alright showcase overall and I'm so confused on why so many love it.
@@christopherlyndsay8611You can say the exact same thing for wanting to be naively excited too. At least people’s anger was justified, the positive buzz around the Xbox showcase is due to the same copium/hopium they have been serving their fanbase for the past 10 years.

Enjoyed that, man that makes a lot of sense. Xbox could get a little sales bump over the holiday season though, imo. Really all Xbox has been missing is consistency with game releases. Looks like they have it now.
(after credits) on the Indy thing, pretty sure the scene is spliced up so it SEEMS like a complete movie scene. Video games are not made like that. Like I had assumed the box double thing was the same box... but I guess it's just a box double. Anyway I'm an editor, when you try to edit out the interactive portions sometimes it just looks like that. It do be like that sometimes. Just assume this is like 3 or 4 videogame cutscenes spliced into one entertaining movie. with like short qte's and negotiation segments (like in the bridge of the ship) in between. look up Adam Koralik's back to the future telltale movie and you get what I mean. It's not a movie, it's a videogame made to look like a movie :).
I had no issues following the Indy cut scene, but sure - they could change two or three of the camera angles to be better. Even still… it was pretty awesome.
The Xbox Showcase being so good kinda explains the weird lack of announcements at SGF I'm pretty sure MS paid good money to take all the good games and show them on their showcase lol

Please link up with Huber again. I miss your chemistry. I think a one off show or even some streams would lighten the mood in these gloomy gaming times
Kyle, that scene appears in the Avowed trailer because they wanted to show that the game has a 3-person mode which was later confirmed. It would have been much better to have a text accompanying the scene saying that it has 3 person mode because it just looked like a cinematic scene. The COD BO6 direct, although it had its problems, was very good at showing innovations in gameplay and a strong focus on the campaign, which was enough for a person like me, who had lost interest in COD, to want to play again. Of course, joining Gamepass reduces an important barrier. Oh and Perfect dark is an immersive sim with parkour elements (a mix of Deus Ex and Mirrors Edge), which the trailer shows made a lot of people interested in the game, the trailer communicates this very well.
It's great that Xbox is starting to rise again. It only took them 70 billion dollars, almost ten years of showing basically nothing and lose exclusivity on their franchises. Yay! - Before you start, i own an Xbox.
As I get older and feel less connected to modern videos games I only feel more connected to the dark prince of nerd media. Love you KB, keep up the amazing work 👏👏👏
i don't really cod much but its so funny because he thought that deep dive wasn't good when the cod community felt it was the best deep dive they have seen in over a decade. literally had everything they wanted it was the xbox showcase of deep dives.
