Hey man laws and contracts do that sometimes
My thought, pretty much. “It’s a common practice over there” well, it shouldn’t be. If we can encourage them to do better, then we should.
honestly I don't really see many people use this as an excuse for them to keep at it. maybe I'm looking in the wrong places, but at worst it's like a "well it sucks but we can't really do much about what Nintendo's done for decades"
Except in games and physical CDs, because...
Yeah many places have "common practice" that are not good. And usually they get rightfully criticized, but for some reason there's this "japan can do no wrong" attitude a lot of people have
The fact that this app launched with a Bowser playlist front and center in the announcement ad and lacked any of the 3D World Bowser themes throttled my excitement for it.
SAAAAME, no World Bowser theme is criminal !!
I think they should do that next, I’d wait a while before getting it though
Also, no Bowser’s Fury. Seriously, they need to add 3D World + Bowser’s Fury ASAP.
Not helping this, king bowser from Mario galaxy can’t be looped… the f*cking *boss fight theme of the main guy that LOOPS IN THE GOD DAMN GAME ITSELF*
@mrhalfsaid1389 Didn't even realize this, lol. Kingfin can't be extended either. And King Bowser being a two-versions-in-one isn't even an excuse, since all of the Super Mario Bros. Wonder course themes can be extended despite most of them being 2-in-1s.

On the composer credits thing, I beat TTYD remake recently and not only did it list composers and musicians but it listed the specific instruments each performer played. If a game's credits are going to go into that much detail to credit the artists, it can't be some corporate policy stopping them doing it for this.
Also as as a fun thing they could do in future, itd be cool if they included videos of performances for some songs like how they've released on youtube for Mariokart and Splatoon.
It could though, you don't know the details behind it.
For all we know it could've been done in secret and by the time corporate realized it was public information and removing it would make them look really bad. You're falling for a false equivalence, assuming the two things are equal with 0 information.
Nintendo probably believes if the games do it then that’s good enough
They do also on physical releases of their soundtrack. But, the official app don't. That's weird.
Yeah, it hardly feels like this is information Nintendo wants to keep secret. It’s really just negligence on their part.
I’m glad i’m not the only person that makes one huge playlist for music

@dragonbreathmediamelodies6884 that doesn't make sense in this scenario. They are competing with TH-cam which has Nintendo's entire library of songs. They need to offer a better service since it's something you pay for. Why would I use the app if I pay for an inferior product, less songs, lower limit on songs in a playlist, no song credits and more. There is zero reason to use it. And drip feeding songs is one of them, we want to pick and choose what songs we listen to and we have less options on Nintendo's app, people will just use TH-cam instead.
your voice training is genuinely so impressive, in just a year your voice has massively improved!
honestly a inspiration ngl.
If I can be 100% honest, I kinda hate the mere fact that this app exists. For someone like me without nso, I’m not paying monthly for only nintendo tracks. It’s also just way more inconvenient than uploading unlisted vids in a playlist to yt, especially since then I can mix the tracks in with songs not made for nintendo games.
yeah like why would i download an app when i can download them from ost sites instead.
I mean true but at the end of the day you're not going to get an a nso just to play Nintendo music

About missing tracks, I have to add Splatoon 3 is missing a BIG chunk of music since it doesn't have none of the post release music, either from multiplayer, Side Order, or grand festival/Festive Splatfests.
Not to mention no music from Splatoon 1 or 2 at all, which is already on Splatoon 3, like, truly lacking so much of fan favorite tracks...
I forgot to mention this but yes it's such ass
@@Bizabizow To be fair, they DO actually release _Splatoon_ music for purchase: the "Splatune" albums.
Ordertune, the album for the post-launch _Splatoon 3_ songs, isn't coming out for a few more weeks, which is probably why the Music App only has songs featured on Splatune 3.
Having said that: Nintendo has released a few Behind-the-scenes videos about the production of _Splatoon 3's_ post-launch music, and yet has squandered the very obvious opportunity to promote the upcoming album. Dumb.
@@iblitz95 kinda unrelated but im not sure if they're actually using the mixes from splatune 3. there's some little differences in that album (big man's voice sounds different and the 2nd loop of the singleplayer tracks has extra clapping) that isnt present in the app. i dont really know where im going with this but i just needed to say this cause ive been thinking about it since release.

There's about 15% of Nintendo's first party Switch game catalog, they're releasing retro OSTs at the same rate as recent OSTs, no 3DS or Wii U game OSTS, there have been TONS of bugs with the app crashing both when it's open AND in the background, and there's _NO XENOBLADE._

I still don't understand why Nintendo didn't just reupload all their music on a TH-cam channel.
I guess because of vague fears about third party management or something.

@@xxratsrcutexx3494 I feel this is the most likely answer here. Why else is the app tied to an NSO subscription?

the lack of credit is what's ruining it for me. Especially when they went out of their way to make character specific playlists and a SEPERATE category for in universe "splatoon artists". This legit looks like an insult. It's such basic decency that the fact it's not there yet really makes me believe they wont add it unless everyone complains about it for years and journalists start to seriously call them out (they probably won't so I'm not hoping for anything at this point).
I'll just stick to youtube, random internet users have more respect for creators than a giant corpo ever will.
The only thing I hope is for them to include all Nintendo media not just the games
I want the Mario movie sound track and the Pokemon anime sound track and detective pikachu and Mario super show etc
Don’t get your hopes up for the Pokémon soundtrack. Remember that Nintendo DOES NOT HAVE FULL CONTROL OVER POKÉMON, so they don’t have full say on that.
That probably comes down to licensing though. If Illumination owns the rights to the Mario movie soundtrack for instance and they don’t want it on the app, then there’s not much Nintendo can do about that

I'm just scared that Nintendo removing song on YT will some day effect SiIvaGunner
:,(

I imagine what SiIvaGunner does falls under parody law or something similar possibly, so it shouldn't be anything to worry about.
Funny thing is I'm pretty sure it DID effect SiIva at some point, with rips being reuploaded on SiIvaGunner 2 for a while before they were able to be reinstated on the main channel.
'Course I could be completely misremembering but I do recall something along those lines happening.
Still so upset that we're missing so much of the Splatoon 3 OST😭 especially since the game finished updating for the most part, they really have no excuse... (also praying I don't have to wait like 3 years for Splatoon 2 and 1)
true! I mean, the entirety of Side Order is missing (and theres no chirpy chips...)
It’s the whole ost
They actually do have an excuse: Ordertune. It comes out in a few weeks, but Nintendo really hasn't tried promoting it.
There's no way they would sell an album _after_ putting the contents of said album on their own application.
Is it a good excuse? No, but it _is_ an excuse.
While TH-cam is still in a lot ways the more appealing option, I think one particular boon that the app has is that a lot of songs are being released in their original audio quality and not the compressed versions we got on original systems. Songs from the Wii in particular hugely benefit from this as that era was basically a transitional point music wise where they were capable of doing so much more with game soundtracks, both with expanded versatility of synthetic music and the ability to easily use live recorded music, but the system still compressed the music heavily. Gamecube and 3DS music will likely also benefit from this as well.
I’m still trying to wrap my head around the whole point of this. Literally every other publisher is fine with their music being on the big music players but Nintendo *has* to make their own platform. And they have to drip feed music that already exists. 99/100 people would much rather just add these songs to their iTunes or Spotify library and call it a day. But noooooo Nintendo has to have things be exclusive to their insular baby. Couldn’t even imagine having Mario in my iTunes. Miyamoto would rather shoot me
This is making me vaguely recall something about Tatsuro Yamashita. And how he doesn't like streaming platforms and such.
Can't say anything concrete about it though, memory's too hazy.
Lol I just listen to songs I like on TH-cam (not youtube music, just regular youtube) and it's amazing. Basically every song ever is on here since you can upload songs to YT unofficially unlike music platforms

I'm disappointed you can't loop stickbrush symphony. That is the perfect song to listen for an extended amount of time.
@@nicolausaguillon3659 *Can't
You can't loop ANY _Pokemon Scarlet/Violet_ songs, either!
My biggest nitpick is that there's no widget for music controls. Most music apps (SoundCloud, Pandora, yt music, Spotify, and more) have it and it's just convenient.
OMG! I'm not the only person who just makes one giga playlist and puts it on shuffle!
Mine's called "Cookin' Music (Official)" cause my original TH-cam playlist was just called "Cookin' Music".
That makes me happy!
Nintendo music feels like its the "see we did it" base and in like 2 yrs will be true to the Nintendo style instead of the lackluster app that it is. this just feels more like a beta phase than an actual final release, well just have to see
It’s good enough for being new
nah this sucks. Release it when it's finished.
One dumb feature I'd want implemented in the app is a "most listened" page, be it globally, by game, by franchise, or by playlist. Let me know what the randos of the world listen to the most so I can get mad at them.
3:06 they're almost certainly never going to add _everything._ like, I'm not going to hold my breath for Cornfield Memories from Tingle's Ballon Trip of Love or the Bicycle music from Okaeri! Chibi-Robo!
Cornfield Memories is a certified banger. That entire game has so many good songs lol
I’m going to keep bothering Nintendo to add DDR Mario Mix 😈
I think the idea of a nintendo radio would be really cool! Imagine if it was kind of like a fictionalized radio station where a host or hosts would occassionally come in and talk between tracks, maybe having "cameos" from nintendo characters or something? It would have to be pre-recorded to some extent so high-profile voice actors would more easily be able to fit it into their schedules, but a really interesting concept.
The one OST i'm waiting for is EarthBound, not because i'll buy the app for an ost i really like, but just, i would like to see it in there out of spite for every single person that has said that EB/Mother songs couldn't be added to Smash Bros. for copyright conflict reasons (despite the fact that they're obviously already songs in Smash Bros. that conflict with the copyright people usually bring up)
Im a little worried the Mother 3 ost won't be on there
@@femtondemasker325 yeah, this is one of the reasons I'm so pissed about this app. Mother 3 and plenty of other Japan only or obscure games are probably gonna get shafted, which means when Nintendo inevitably strikes all the OST channels on TH-cam done, those soundtracks are gonna go with them.
i just want the three houses ost dawg 😭 all the fe3h music has been practically snapped from youtube

Also! I love the ideas you mentioned of being able to change the UI and have a Nintendo radio! Also being able to block certain songs out of your shuffle playlist, and adding protypes of songs and things to learn about composers companies etc. is brilliant! Another idea I had is maybe there can be a feature where you could listen to character voice clips bc that’s kinda my guilty pleasure when I’m bored😭😭😭 maybe you could listen to different sound effects from different games too and it takes you to a page where you can kinda just press buttons idk lol. They could make this app great! And I feel like they could still make their app to where they can gain revenue from apps! It would’ve been way easier to just upload it to TH-cam or Spotify but you know Nintendo lmao
i like it! im looking at it through the viewpoint of it just being a fun little thing to check in on every week or so to see what theyve added, while still having my youtube playlists as my main way of listening to the stuff of theirs
This is the first video of yours I've seen but your videos have a really relaxing vibe, you have a soothing voice I could fall asleep to (in a good way!)
something i saw that i really liked is that you can hide spoiling music like final bosses and like "song that plays when (your favorite character) FUCKING DIES" songs. that was really smart
I get a fuzzy feeling whenever I see you upload a new video! Keep up the good work and thank you for the laughs :)
Honestly the biggest complaint from me is really just how limited it is on release, like how music focused Splatoon is and not only are there only tracks from 3 specifically, it's only from, like, the first season of 3.
I get not releasing the second half of 3's music as it seems like they're waiting to drop Ordertune first, but c'mon no Splatoon 1 or 2 music???

As a person who loves Pokémon, I’m worried this could end up somewhat similar to the NSO virtual consoles, where TPC is yet to release GB and GBA games to the service. Sure, Scarlet and Violet have their soundtrack, but I’m worried that a lot of older games will take ages to come to the service despite Pokémon being one of Nintendos biggest series. This’ll definitely be a problem outside of Pokémon, no doubt so it’s worrying to think about how many games could get lost in the shuffle
Yea I’m surprised about how little there is game wise especially some by consoles on there especially with their bigger franchises. Like I’m glad they put games like the tomodachi ost and nintendogs somewhat underrated games but it’s super lackluster in the selection choices. Like they have access to so much osts couldn’t they wait to launch this until they had a bigger library implemented? It’s not really worth using at the moment.
One feature that would be really cool would be some sort of stem player, at least for the already sequenced stuff (in fact streaming the sequence data for songs where that's an option would easily take up less bandwidth and severside storage), and also a better way of switching between variants of songs (that could even coincide with the stem player for songs that in-game have layers added to them, like the High-Chain versions of the songs in Mario RPG Remake)
I think another cool idea to make the service better than TH-cam would be adaptive music interactivity
You know those moments in games where different versions of the music play depending on you actions in game? Like a different remix plays when you go underwater or additional instruments appear and disappear when different enemies are on the field. It would be cool if whenever those kind of soundtracks popped up in the app, there would be a little gui menu, where you could configure the song while it keeps playing: select different versions, turn different instruments on and off and of course an option to remember your preferences for that song next time it plays
In Spotify the limit of songs in a playlist was 100,000 but now it’s literally unlimited so there’s no excuse Nintendo. 😡
I have ONE playlist that is 6,000+ songs and counting.
17:47 Bizabizow falls off of Rainbow Road (Wii) in the Spiny Cup of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Edition
i think my biggest issue with the app is not everyone wants just wants to listen to video game music, especially just Nintendo music, sure the library is extensive but having to download and use a separate music app to listen to a small selection of music when you sometimes get the itch to listen to them
meanwhile to those that have downloaded/ripped the music can use it however they please, can properly credit the files, and have a visualizer. sure its not the most accessible option but it allows for a lot more freedom and options than the app
I think it would also be a fun idea to have sliders to slow songs down, add reverb, speed them up, etc… because nightcore and slowed versions have such a big market on TH-cam - giving the listener the ability to adjust this to their liking would be a hug advantage on Nintendo’s part
Love your ideas and the video(thanks for saying the playlist limit, was unaware of that ) and want to add a few myself alongside a little known fact: In the some regions including UK, the Track Information within the app is named “Intellectual Property Notices” and I think Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are the only ost to be more than just “Copyright Nintendo”.
As well as comparing to other services to see ways the app can be better, I feel it’s also worth comparing to owning the ost physically. By viewing through that perspective a few ideas pop up:
1. (To over emphasise the point as much as everyone as) Can understand if there are select cases where when asked a composer may request to remain uncredited. But for composer that are credited for a physical ost then they should logically be fine with being credited in the app too! So especially for switch games, there should be no problem
2. Add more options of editing the tracks such as listening to them in reverse or changing speed. Especially as that happens WITHIN the game (e.g. Phases of boss fights and Mario Kart Final laps)
3. There are extra songs in osts that could still be added to the app. One example is Splatune has “demo” version of 2 Clickbait songs and the Nintendo Live Concert version of Deep Cut’s music. Doubt we may ever get them, but one way they could add them is making these extras exclusive for NSO expansion members. Would LOVE if any renditions from many past and future official concerts could be included too. (As some of those are tricky to find in high quality)
4. (More specific and personal wish) Lyrics for any songs with vocals. An ideal addition for singalongs!🎤 Similarly to the credits, this is another way to remove the step of researching about these songs on a wiki by allow us to see this info.
That all being, still hopeful that a few of the ideas proposed in this do happen and shall look forward to seeing the future of the app and your channel:)
the kieran playlist tempts me beyond anything (+the idea of eventually more character playlists) but without composer credits, the slow drip feed, and how sparse i KNOW kieran and carmine's playlists must be i'm not particularly interested at the current moment. definitely just going to stick to fan options, especially since i love the rainy day overlays on music so much.
If they really want to make this more interesting to TH-cam to me is if they add toggleable adaptive layers. Let me hit the shy guy or frontrunner button on Mario Kart track, switch to the underwater version of a track on the fly. There's enough Nintendo games that have adaptive audio these days, and it would be a very fun feature.
10:23 As one who loves collecting songs into a playlist, it's almost like an archive not only of when things were released, but also when have I watched a video featuring a song. Give or take.
I have a bad feeling the endless ocean osts may never be added
The 3DS sound app had fun visualisers. They had an Excitebike one, a Play-Yan one, etc.
Nintendo "forgetting" to credit their composers is a very generous characterization.
This is Nintendo.
It’s wild to me the intervals for looping goes straight to 15 minutes, there should be 5 and 10 minute intervals
Your not alone on the playlist size, as someone who has a playlist of over 5k songs on Spotify, 2k is laughably low
you know those playsets that are like, little plastic baby versions of kitchens or storefronts or whatever so children can pretend to be adults? This app feels like that to me. Not because video game music isn't "real music" or whatever, I don't believe that, but the app presenting itself like any other music streaming service while having like 6 songs max per playlist and an overall lack of songs overall feels like. I dunno. like "awww it's pretending to be Spotify"
My biggest gripe is that it's a Music App. I know that sounds weird at first, but think of it like this: when I buy music off of iTunes or Bandcamp I'm able to download said music and add it to my "Everything" styled playlist. I have PaRappa the Rapper, Owl City, idk freakin' Gummybar, all in the same playlist and I'd like to have an official way to add Nintendo's stuff to THAT as well. It's the same big reason I dislike other music streaming platforms, I'd like to buy my music once and be able to have this wacky playlist with a bunch of different artists on ALL my platforms (Then again I'm 1 in about 3 people that still listen to music through their Nintendo 3DS from time to time, but there ain't no Spotify or Nintendo Music App on 3DS or iPod).
As a big splatoon fan I'm very happy with there being a place for all splatoon music to be since there is sooooo many songs and I also like how they add the most simplest of audios, I'm excided for some of my favorite bands and songs to be added
What frustrates me tho is that there’s nothing from wave 1 or after?? Like why are there missing tracks?? I want my grandfest music!!
@Sire-Swagg most likely they will be added after ordertune releases
it’ll be worth it when they add origami king’s ost that shit is peak nintendo music
Thank god I can finally listen to the bredbug music on repeat without taking away A SINGLE PENNY from Daddy Shiggy and Massive Hero Soccer Guy
it'll be great in 30 years when all the music is on it
10:18 im glad im not the only one who does this
I just hate that it's only for Nintendo Membership owners, subscriptions suck
Yep. I canceled mine a while ago and then I find out about this app which made me think about renewing my subscription but nah, one soundtrack a week? And they don’t even got everything I want
i love your bowser jr obsession i relate to that
He's the best
Most of the time Mother music goes missing it's Sony's copyright not Nintendo's. Nintendo used Sony Music to sell the Mother CD from back in the day, the copyright data is still in their database. As for songs that can't be longer, they are songs that do not really have a source that can allow that to be smooth. A few songs are sourced in a way that stops the longer playback.
I'm currently in the process of breaking down my 5000 video youtube playlist of all the songs I've been listening to since elementary school into more vibes based playlists. It is... a process.
tl;dw absolutely not
I still stand by the fact this isn’t a service, it's an excuse. They just made this to justify takedowns. Nintendo are scum.
Taking away people's ability to casually listen to their music wherever for free and then making not just their own music app, but making it EXCLUSIVELY subscription based, is probably one of the greediest things nintendo has ever done.
i wish it was the pibby music app!
What
I personally think it's fine. It's a way to listen to Nintendo music with my phone locked and it's basically free. I just want more variety, especially from some of the more obscure games. Things like Rhythm Heaven, Brain Age and WarioWare. If they can get some third parties onboard, it'd be great to get some songs from Smash Bros. Or even games that were mainly on Nintendo consoles like Ace Attorney and Cooking Mama.
Brain Age got added literally the day after I made this comment.
I'm not sure how to feel about that.
Well it’s not really free since you have to buy a subscription first.
No it’s LITERALLY useless considering you need a Nintendo online account like at that point why not just make it a free updated feature on the switch for Nintendo online users it’s just stupid and useless (huge companies make a good and not incompetent decision: impossible)
"A few" songs missing? Where's my entire 2-screened tiny laptop soundtrack!?
One thing that I’d like them to add that’s a long shot is adding adaptive music layers. For the Mario Wonder songs it plays one loop normal and then one with the elephant drums. It would be cool to have the option to toggle that on and off especially for songs that would have yoshi drums or any of the pikmin soundtracks
This literally is already blowing up and its been like 57 seconds what-
I bet Nintendo made the app as an excuse to not let people reupload music from their games on platforms like TH-cam
So much Splatoon 3 music just isn't there as of right now. Other than songs from Big Run and a couple of Squid Sister Songs, there are no tracks from after the launch of the game.
Yoko & The Gold Bazookas
H2Whoa
Riot Act
SashiMori
Seasonal Splatfest Music
Off the Hook
Hell, even the Side Order DLC

the biggest problem is that this barely helps.. atall.. if i listen to nintendo music, im not gonna be listening to ONLY nintendo music. Im gonna want to add it to playlists along with other songs i also enjoy on youtube. This makes the app pretty much useless for me and a lot of other people
I was immediately smacked by the cozy vibes, take this subscribe
I feel that way too :') she's so lovely and soft spoken and I love the autumnal theme of her channel. Its all so calming :')
Love the thumbnail.
It's me, I'm the one other person.
"Actually just a playlist, you know, for music." Recently passed 420
One of my biggest qualms with the app is the fact that they smoosh some songs together instead of also listing them individually.
Hateno Village (night) is a very pretty song but 9 times out of 10 I would rather just listen to the daytime theme!
If I had to guess, they could do a soundtrack a day, but choose not to so that people will maybe keep their subscription up in hopes that their favorite ost will play. I dont think people are holding onto their NSO subscription because their desperate to listen to the Hey Pikmin Ost officially, but nintendo might be dumb enough to think that.
They really should just make youtube channel for it, i dont think the channel would make a ton of money but it would save them money, not having to develop and maintain an app like that. Honestly I dont think this app is gonna be around for more than a year or two but hey, maybe im wrong
I also make a ginormous playlist with all the music I listen to. The one I have on Spotify is around 2700 tracks lol

BAM
I’m personally fine with the one soundtrack per week style. While I use the app daily it does bring joy every time it gets updated and I always listen too the New soundtrack added even if I don’t particularly like the music or game in question.
However this is also a smart move Nintendo’s part as this does technically mean the app will have “new” features for seemingly years if not upwards to half a decade.
Genuinely who else other than the most die hard Nintendo fans who have been subbed to NSO since day 1 are gonna go out and subscribe just to use this?? I already paid for the game, you got me interested, I liked the music, I'm not gonna pay AGAIN just to listen to the music more easily. The app exists for existing Nintendo fans, the way they built it isn't to attract new fans. The lack of credit is insulting and lazy, the drip feed is mind numbing, but locking it behind a subscription killed it immediately. They shut down the easiest form of enjoyment then shove a half assed solution in your face and wonder why people still pirate...
Thanks for specifically shouting out the Wario's Woods soundtrack at the end. I love that one.
I’m hoping in the future nintendo adds some third party games like pac man party and the sonic Ds games
Now the pro gamer move is to take a capture card and post videos of all the music in this app onto TH-cam
another issue: there's no desktop version! even if the app was perfect, how am i supposed to listen to nintendo music while working on my pc, have my pc headphones in one ear and mobile headphones in the other? it's a big missed opportunity at the moment. i usually listen to instrumentals and game ost music on my pc while i'm working so that not being an option at all really limits the app's viability for me.
That’s true, they should do that too
As nice as having an official way of listening to the music is, I'll basically never use it because i rarely just listen to "single game soundtrack" playlists all that often. Being limited to just "nintendo music" on the app, even if they added other companies' music as you suggested in the video, would be wayyyy too limiting. Not to mention the inconvenience of having to load an entire separate app just for nintendo music. They really should've just uploaded all the music to youtube and spotify, what a strange move.
omg your new avatar is so cool!!
I was honestly kind of bummed that this of all things was made into a drip feed process, even if the output is considerably faster than NSO games on Switch.
This feels like a considerably less complicated job in some regards, and it just makes TH-cam feel like a more viable option in the end lol
The app itself isn’t bad, but it honestly just makes TH-cam feel like a more convenient option now, especially with having any OST at your disposal without having to wait a few weeks to have a chance to listen to a soundtrack :(
Yeah :( and none of this wouldn't be happening if Nintendo weren't so crappy :(
glad i'm not the only one bugged by the absence of the nintendo channel music lol
genuinely the nintendo radio station would be so cool!! the way i imagine it, there could be daily themes that the station would play music according to or if there was a big release there could be a longer event specifically celebrating that. there could also be ad breaks where new games/features/products could be advertised and there could be commercials from the characters themselves!!! i feel like this fits so much w the concept of the app and would definitely make me want to use the app specifically over a playlist on youtube hehe
