  • A video about my attempts to improve dust collection in my tiny workshop!
    Helped by the Central Technology Systems (CTS or Cen-Tec for short) power tool adapter and hose set, a 3D printed Y hose splitter and a universal, reusable dust extractor bag.
    Not gonna blow anyone's mind this video but as always, I hope showing how I've put these dust extraction bits to use and what I think of them will help others in some way.
    The Cen-Tec adaptors now mean not only can I attach the vacuum to the usual power tools - plunge saw, sanders etc - but, also attach it to the table saw, bandsaw, router table and mitre saw properly - at last!!
    Cen-Tec sent me the power tool adaptor set for the purpose of review (thanks muchly Lewis) but, no monies changed hands and, as ever when I accept items for review, I'm under no obligation to say nice things.
    All the links below are affiliate links meaning if you use them, I may qualify for a small commission at no extra cost to you.
    I mention in the video a discount code for CTS/Cen-tec but I think it'll automatically discount your order if you use my link. I'll try and clear this up with Lewis there and update as necessary.
    Cen-tec also do conductive hose and adaptor sets for those concerned about that sort of thing, as well as all manor of other dust extraction odd and sods. Worth exploring the shop.

    I got myself a set of these about six months ago and can't fault them. I get most use from them with my track saw, biscuit jointer and a variety of sanders. They all have different size nozzles so I colour coded mine with a spot of enamel paint. Works a treat, red nozzle on random orbital sander and biscuit machine, blue on track saw and 1/2 inch routervand so on. Works a treat.

      Good to hear mate. Like the idea of colour coding. One thing I've noticed after making this vid is previously, the old adaptor used to fit inside the port on my electric hand planer. With these cen-tec, I can seat around the port. Pretty sure this would mean it'd clog less. But yeah, great for all the different sized ports.👍

    I've been using these for a while, having seen them on the Badger Workshop channel, and I love the things.....they make swapping between tools a piece of cake. I've got a few extractors in the shop from Record, Numatic, Bosch and DeWalt, and I have one of these fittings on each hose. Incidentally I got one set of adaptors that are anti static, and the rubber on those feels softer than the standard set.
    When I used to work out of a double garage, the dust would fill the place within seconds every time I switched on a circular saw or sander. The answer was a 'fan in a can' ambient air filter - they work like magic in a small space.

    • @BischBaschBosch
      @BischBaschBosch  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers for that David. Interesting that the anti-stat are softer. Yeah, I was gonna get an air filter when I got the planer thicknesser. I didn't as my general extraction was so bad I thought I'd wait to at least get dust levels from the tools down first. A filter is on the list though.👍

      I saw CTS Quick Click on Rag 'n' Bone Brown and Badger Workshop, and made myself blue metal drum cyclone separator based on Charlie DIYte. I have a separate shop vac for the tablesaw. The CTS staff were super helpful guiding me to ensure I got the right fitting adapters for all my various tools, and ensuring I could simply connect up to the cyclone. I was going to bodge a piped dust system using a CamVac dual motor but so far the CTS one-hose system is working great.

    I love the connector Set and i think, i own three of them by now. First one i bought about two or three years ago.
    To avoid changing the bags, i used an older xl L-Boxx on Top of my Bosch Vac and installed a smaller cyclone to fill up a plastic bag in the L-Boxx. Works good for me and saves lots of expensive bags for the vac.

    • @BischBaschBosch
      @BischBaschBosch  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I'm pretty sold on them myself now. Did think a while back about using an empty l-boxx or 2 with a cyclone. I kind of like having tools on top of the vac though. The reusable bags workin ok though. Be good if I could get a years use out of it.

    I have a large collection of the Cen-Tec adapters and hoses used daily....no complaints....direct match to the FLEX extractor.
    Very reasonably priced in the States...pretty sure they are made here.
    They have an anti-static version also....a bit more money but sized the same.

    Thanks for showing us this Set. Think I will order some set myself.
    CTS has also this great Cyclone set, really nice and with alls bits that one would need. You may want to add this to your dust extraction setup, as it really saves you changing that bag all the time. I used a 30cm pipe by 150 long with a cyc at the top and lid at the bottom. It hides away in a corner and I can easily empty it into a bin. The vacuuming result hasn’t changed. Should I find the article, I’ll drop you the link.

      Cheers. If you order anything, follow the link in the description and use the code and you should get 5% off at checkout👍 They did offer me their cyclone thing and I would love it but can't spare the floor space for the extra bucket it'd need, so turned it down. Great addition if you have the space.

      @DKWalser ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BischBaschBosch I recently added their cyclone to my set up. It works great. I built a small cart, using the wheels on the base of the dust extractor, that allows me to mount the cyclone above the dust extractor. It doesn't take up any more floor space (which is just as important in my small shop as it is in yours). The down side is that the dust extractor no longer stores under my work bench.

    I've had my kit for about 2 years and it's good quality. BUT, remember it's a tapered hose and is meant to be used as the fixed length you bought. So you can't cut it as the end clips won't screw onto the hose. 38mm down to 32mm

    • @BischBaschBosch
      @BischBaschBosch  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe you got a different hose to me chap but the one I've got isn't tapered. Just a straight plastic hose, 32mm id and 38mm od each end (and all the way through). Absolutely fine to split.

      @BischBaschBosch  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MillfieldWheels That's interesting if the anti-stat are tapered. I wouldn't chop up an anti-stat though. Even if it wasn't tapered, you'd have to complete the metal connections again. Not sure how easy that is with the cen-tec screw on fittings.

    Just wanted to throw this out there. But i use a rigid vac as a contractor. The filters are kinda overpriced for what they are. So you can make a filter last forever if you get yourself a pool skimmer filter sock and put it over your vac filter. Just knock the fine dust off the sock when your dumping your vac and good to go. Hope this helps some of you guys. It probably saves me 200 to 300 a year on filters.

    • @BischBaschBosch
      @BischBaschBosch  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers for that. Not s bad idea. The last time I bought the proper bosch bags, the last one, I just cut the top and taped it around the filter (cylinder type). Similar idea as yours. Lasted really well - and saved a fortune one the bags which are really overpriced from Bosch.👍

    Hi , I have watched the video and really appreciate the work you have put into it. I have been after some sort of dust extraction system for a while, not for wood working as such but more for renovation and sanding in an old 1880 cottage in Lancashire. We don't have a lot of cash and have been looking at dust extractors, henry vacuums etc on various sites, and after several failed bids finally bought a guess what yes, bosch gas 20 l sfc for £53.00. The main task it has to do will be sanding the beams, skirtings doors etc of all the dark stain and varnishes that have been applied over the years. I have bought a set of CTS adapters which should be arriving soon and was wondering if you had any further advice.

    • @BischBaschBosch
      @BischBaschBosch  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good price for a Bosch Gas 20l. It's proved a very reliable extractor for me - more so than the more expensive Gas 35 I had. It'll serve you well no doubt. One annoying thing with the 20L though is it has the cylinder type filter. This stops you from properly filling a bag and getting your monies worth. Hence why I bought and show in this vid the "universal" reusable filter bag. My ones still going. Saves so much money over the Bosch bags. There's a link in description. Comes from Poland so bit of a wait but worth it I think. The vac will survive using without bags - I did for a long time on site - but, constant cleaning of the filter isn't healthy! Remember to remove the filter when/if using as a wet vac. That's it really mate. A very plug and go vac. Good luck with the renovation mate.

      Hi Matt. In the video I show the standard power tool adaptor going inside the mt55 port. It's a better fit than my old bosch one but I've since found the largest adapter in the set (38mm id) will fit over the mt55 port. Takes a bit of a push on but once on you can lift the saw by it!! That's the one I recommend. I'll pop a link for it below. To use it, you'll also need the "thread and clip ring" thing that attaches to your hose. Easy to find in the site.👍
