Thanks for the helpful tips on an affordable extraction system. It’s refreshing to see a guy who’s not in a huge worshop with every shiny Festool machine known to man. Will definitely subscribe. 🙂
Brilliant Dean I put mine together yesterday and it works a treat I have never had my bandsaw running so dust free and now don't have to drag my vacuum around changing bags every few days
Good morning. I’ve just stumbled across your channel and am very glad I did . I do love to find fellow Englishmen recommending this I can actually get hold over from places like B&Q and screwfix. Your set up looks great and a lot more approachable for a complete novice with a regular garage (like me). Now subscribed and poking through all your other vids . Have a good day
Great tips, I'm in the middle of building my garden room/workshop and planning. This is really helpful, loved the pressure release valve on the dust collector.
@@WoodworkJourney I have a 100mm flexible toilet waste connector thing near my lathe for dust, so I'm right with you on the 'using what you have' principle 🤣
Loved your video. I am a 68 year old Carpenter, (wanting to retire, but the bank wont let me!!) who would desperately love to have my own garage/workshop. So while I'm dreaming of my workshop, I'm gaining ideas for dust extraction.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and idea for the Dust Collection system. I am doing up my Cave (AKA Shed) and dust collection is very important (as we all know). I bought one of those Cyclonic Cone, Valve & Bucket, and the bucket buckled as soon as I connected to my wee vacuum cleaner that my wife didn’t like anymore (ha ha ha)… Anyways, I’m now thinking to get those Triton’s Cyclone Cylinder [Orange coloured Drum], as that hopefully will do a better job with my Triton Shop Vac (I am not sure though)… Any advice will be greatly appreciated my friend. Being disabled it is very hard to get things done no matter how small those jobs are. I hope your finger is now mended (better be as this is look like two years ago), and you have updated the whole system by now. If you got any video of your updates please let us know. @@WoodworkJourney Seems great. Just 3D printing some blanks and an adapter. But it's fantastic not having to watch out for loads of cables and keep moving things around to keep it safe.
This is the best video I've found for me! My 'shop in progress' is probably quarter the size of yours, so its a real challenge, but I think many of your ideas will work in my shop. Great vid, most grateful! I subscribed straight away!
Excellent 👌🏼 Thanks. Looking for push fit pipe fittings this evening. I just recently made a dust cart with a Ryobi industrial vac and a DeWalt tornado. Good to see you're at over 10k subscribers now 👏🏼
You wouldn’t believe my cyclone it’s home made from a sheet of steel that was never going to be used it’s as big as the Axminster cyclone. It was murder to shape but works well it’s also on a large blue barrel. So that’s half my workspace used up! The pipe work is a four inch hose sometimes into a block of wood with a hoover hose jammed in it. Posh. Love your setup.
@@WoodworkJourney You're welcome! From one content creator to another I can tell how much effort you put into this video. It really is well done and well presented 😁
Hi Dean, 1, Glad to hear the workshop injuries are healing 2, Yes please with the table saw dust collection/extraction video, it's always good to watch these type of videos for insight and inspiration, watching your videos of late has got me thinking about making some layout changes to my own set up to improve the workspace and put in a dust collection system rather than plug in each tool individually, thank you for sharing and congratulations on your growing number of subscribers one of which I'm happy to be, I always look forward to your videos, take care.
This is perfect, just what i need in my shop. I have similar sized space and similar vacuum and cyclone. I think I'm going to mount my vacuum remote to a wrist strap, sick of putting it down and forgetting where i left it!
Great job Dean, love the push-fit + pond hose components - very flexible for future mods if required. I'll be nicking most of your ideas when I eventually empty out my garage and start putting a proper shop together. Anyone want to buy some golf clubs? Or speaker cabs? Or photo enlargers? Or....never mind. Ebay will get a bashing soon! Love to see what you come up with for your table saw & thicknesser. Look after your finger mate. All the best.
enjoyed this video mate. great to meet you over here! looking forward to seeing this system in action, im in the process of sorting out my dust collection bit by bit. I've subbed up!
I’m looking into putting a permanent system in my small shop and this looks ideal. Have you seen any issues with blockages etc with the smaller diameter pipe?
Great video dean. How did you connect the 40mm pipe to the cyclone. I Know they are typically 50mm plus. And how did you connect the hose pipe to the pvc pipe. Thank you
Nice solution, just stumbled upon your vid/channel while researching. I'm guessing you're in Lincs or north Norfolk if you have fighter jets? I'm from Cromer before moving out here and am quite used to the jets :)
@@WoodworkJourney that sounds great 👍 I've been using old vacuum cleaner hoses but never considered waste pipe and fittings before. The smooth internal bore will help no end. Thanks again.
Nicely done Dean & as I’ve mentioned before, very similar to my system, which I’m also extremely pleased with, although I find the pond hose is a bit stiff on my mitre saw connection, so might get something a bit more flexible in the future. I think a barrel & cyclone will be next at some point, but I need to find space for it 🥴.
Great video Dean, glad to see that the finger is improving. You can point 👉! I was wondering how the system would work with a small diameter pipe and you reassure me that for fine dust it will be fine. Time to really sort out a system in my shop, getting fed up wheeling the hoover around. The CTS quick click hose adapters are brilliant and are well worth the money. I have colour coded mine with a dab of enamel paint on the adapter and a corresponding dab on tge dust outlet on the tool. Saves loads of time working out which one fits what! They are about £26 for the set of four adapters and one hose attachment.
Well it’s still new but it’s doing an awesome job so far. Yeah the CTS stuff isn’t crazy money, but I live on a pretty tight budget so it’s not happening for the moment
It’s a good question. The simple answer is that I didn’t. After doing some research it seemed like the chances of a static building up to that level is incredibly small
@@WoodworkJourney I think it would be nearly impossible to do. Because plastic and rubber o rings aren't conductors, you'd need an earth wire to every single component and bend etc and on the inside coming out to connect to earth.
Hi Dean. I used the same waste pipe for my system. I changed the plastic container for a metal one as the relief valve didn't seem to work(it was leaking air slightly). My vacuum is a Henry, and works superbly. Keep those videos coming.
What about the static build up when using PVC? Was always warned about it being a nasty fire risk because of the wood dust and chips along with the risk of sparking? Is this true?
Great video just found u. Im guessing you dont run a thickness plainer am trying organise my dust extraction system its driving me nuts. My machines are 40mm fittings but the extractor is 100mm pipe trying get it to run properly is really starting do my head in. 🏴👍
I don’t use this system for my tablesaw, Thickness planer, or soon to come router table. For those it’s my HVLP chip extractor. A 40mm system HPLV system will not run 100mm pipe unfortunately.
A really can't figure out what am gonna do. I have a jet extractor problem a seem be having is trying get the fittings down in size. Do u have an email a could send u couple pictures see if you can shed any light

Nice system, I've been watching and getting ideas, got a 1000w Henry I'm going to put to the same use. Do you find suction as good on your furthest bench flexi hose as back at the beginning etc? Not sure does suction loss occur over length or is it really noticeable. Thanks
@@WoodworkJourney Good, I'm keen, thinking though I might do it in 50mm, bit pricier but less likely to block etc and a bit more flow rate. Enjoying your videos, thanks
