I'm so happy you dropped by my channel! Vintage linens are an artform that should be given a new purpose and not just stored away or (gasp!) thrown away! Happy crafting! PS. I will be posting a new video next Weds showing how to repurpose vintage sewing patterns.
I love this, and I do love saving the torn or damaged linens. I cringe if a beautiful and pristine one is cut up. I’d probably frame a card like this if I had one.
@@StarrLara-j8m what a nice compliment. Thank you! I'm agree with you on the linens that are still in good condition; I would never repurpose linens that are not damaged. Happy crafting!
Thank you, Melanie, for sharing your talent. I have some vintage pieces and this is another great idea. The card is so lovely.❤ Subscribed and will be watching your videos from Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦
Hello there! I'm so excited you stopped by and have become a new subscriber! The work that went into vintage linens is just so special, I had to find a way to salvage the old torn, stained material(s). My heart smiles if you pick up any inspiration from my video(s). Happy crafting!
When I find beautiful old hand made linen & cotton pieces that are at the thrift store, I start to cry thinking of the time and love it was made for someone. Especially handmade lace & tatting.💖
I agree. I also think about all the stained/torn linens that get thrown away (gasp!). The handiwork is indeed a lost art form. I only repurpose linens that are damaged. It's truly gratifying to give the old linens a new life. Thank you for dropping by and sharing your thoughts. Happy crafting!
Many people are rescuing the vintage linens to make these lovely items. This card could be used to create a mini-journal by the recipient in order to keep it "in circulation" and enjoy writing poetry, memories or making sketches. The cover and a few pages of blank paper can be sewn in with a three hole pamphlet stitch.
Fantastic idea! I love reading comments with possible alternative, creative options. I agree; this vintage linen piece would have made a lovely journal cover.
Oh, thank you for the lovely comment! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. It's very gratifying to figure out ways to give old items a new life and I'm happy to share those ideas. Happy crafting!

Beautiful! I’ve been making cards with vintage embroidered pieces since I first saw your video. I work at a thrift shop and have been saving the ones with slight damage because they were getting thrown out. I finally found an embroidered lady💕💕💕 thank you for the inspiration and instructions.
It warms my heart to hear stories like this! I'm so glad you joined the club and found a way to repurpose those old, torn, stained linens. Someone put a lot of effort into creating these works of art, so I'm glad you are salvaging them and giving them a new purpose! I'd love to see your creations. Happy crafting!

Hello. Thank you for dropping by my channel and becoming a new subscriber! Yes, there is something gratifying about giving new life to old, worn items that are destined for the trash. There is still a bit of art in the handiwork that went into those old linens even if they are torn and stained. So happy you found some inspiration for your old linens. Happy crafting!
Oh wow! I love this idea. I have lots of vintage linen pieces and will be trying this now! Great way to save my mom and grandma’s linens which I have saved.

Hello there! I'm so happy you dropped by my channel and that you are a new subscriber! I'm glad you found some inspiration for your old linens. That is so exciting for me to hear!!! It's so gratifying to give new life to old, unused items. Happy crafting!
Thank you for stopping by my channel! I love to repurpose vintage items that are probably headed for the trash. It's oddly gratifying to give things like these lovely, old linens new life; someone spent a bit of time creating the hand-work. Happy crafting!
How charming! There is a way to whiten the stained fabric of old linen that I can’t remember at the moment, but if you Google it, you can easily find it. I was thinking how this might look even prettier if it were whitened first. It could also be starched and ironed. At that point, you would probably want to frame it! L O L
Thank you for your feedback. I'm always interested in learning from other crafters. Yes, the handiwork in these old linens is priceless. I'm just happy to repurpose them and give them a new life rather than staying packed away or (gasp) thrown away. Happy crafting!
In all the videos I've watched over the years, I've never seen this spray adhesive, or any spray adhesive used. I just added a cover to my junk journal and it's lumpy. I don't like it. I think it needs this adhesive and I'd be very happy! Thank you for sharing this linen idea that is very dear to my heart. Be well.
Hello, Joyce! I would love to hear your feedback after you give the Elmer's Spray Adhesive a try for your journal cover. I've had good luck using it for adhering any type of fabric to paper. The brayer is a great tool as well, to really "push/adhere" the sprayed fabric to the paper. Just make sure you read the directions on the can for permanent adhesion. Happy crafting!
I wish you had turned it into a picture that she could frame and have FOREVER……love it…Thankyou very much…hugs carolyn from Columbus Georgia
I think it could still be framed, don't you? I was happy to save this jewel from going into the trash.
That's the first handmade card I have ever liked. But then I am lover of vintage, ripped, torn, stained linens. They should be used. Brilliant😊
