Of course Naughty Dog are so damn good! They're so good that they couldn't even make a completely bad game, even if they wanted to, and CTR is a prime example of it that shows!
Best turbo system and controls of any kart racer imho, and so many amazing tracks. Sewer Speedway might be the best one, it perfectly showcases how crazy you can get with this games mechanics Also, I don't know if you already know this , but there's an extra level to power sliding: the longer you hold the slide, the longer the boost is. So, in order to maximize speed, you have mix short and long boost depending on the type of turns you are facing. Pretty cool
I actually kinda feel bad for the devs of Team Sonic Racing. It's a good game. Fun. And I really enjoy the Sonic racers in general (All-Stars Transformed was great). But...they chose to release it right before CTRNF. A horrible choice. It either needed to be released way sooner, or way later. Any player base it actually has is gonna fade pretty damn quick as soon as CTRNF comes out. I mean, Team Sonic Racing is already kind of a down-grade from All-Stars Transformed, with it's forced team mechanic (which you'd think they'd know was a bad idea seeing as it's always unpopular when games do it. Just look at MKDD, CNK, and CTTR). And it didn't have the variety of characters like All-Stars had, it's just Sonic now. Good game, with a couple downgrades. Mix that, with the release alongside CTR, and they've doomed their game right from the start. They're already fighting against Mario Kart on Switch, which is eating a chunk out of their player base.

I mean, that's cool that you'll be playing 'em all. But there's a lot of people that don't want to play 3 different kart racers at the same time. I've even seen quite a few people say they only even play the Sonic and Mario kart racers because they couldn't play CTR. Regardless of if you specifically are planning to play 'em all, Team Sonic Racing is gonna lose quite a few players to CTR. Personally, I don't own Team Sonic Racing, but I can guarantee I probably won't even touch another kart racer for a while after CTR releases. Especially since I'm gonna need to grind out those Wumpa Coins for the Pit Stop, and grind out my Nitro meter in the Grand Prix. My point was that I don't think Team Sonic Racing really deserves to lose a chunk of it's player base. It's not bad. I just think it released at just about the worst possible time. Right before one of the best kart racers ever gets a remake.
TXF I know CTRNF will the best racing game in 2019 If there is one thing I like about games like CTRNF and manny Master peace games it’s how much Replayability the game has to this day even in 2019

1999 is such a long damn time; I was being 6 years old when this game came out. My brother rented this so many times in Blockbuster and next year he actually got the game.
Man, like you, I thought I was really good at this game... but when I learnt about the reserve system I finally understood how deep the mechanics of CTR go. The speed of this game is just fantastic. I urge you to search for more Ultimate Sacred Fire clips. I found one of CTR Nitro Fueled where one guy basically plays the whole Polar Pass track with USF and the speed he achieves is utterly incredible. Nearly game breaking.

I got the ps1 back in 99 and this was the game that I got with it. I remember getting home to play but I never had a memory stick so I had to run out and get one the same day to play it 😂
I recently replayed this game too on the PS3 download store, and I am now awaiting Gamecube copies of Nitro Kart and Tag Team Racing. I know that they don't hold up as well, but I want to experience the originals before the remake. I made that mistake with the N. Sane Trilogy, and I won't do it again with these racing games. I also played the original Crash trilogy, and I'll also blast my way through a replay of the N. Sane trilogy before June 21. If I could do it with Spyro, then I can still do the same with Crash.

Yeah I'm seeing a lot of people claiming automatic 10/10 because of all the racers and customization... sorry but it doesn't work like that. But as long as it's still just as fun to play, I won't be complaining.

Another great thing about ctr are all the shortcuts you can go through jumping. It took me 20 years and a bunch of you tube videos to find all about them
I still remember the Nitro Kart video where he complained about not being able to play as the boss characters. It's finally happened! Also, Nitro-Fueled will allow the characters asidwe from the original 8 to appear as opponents.
I definitely agree with you on seeing the same eight characters in arcade, despite unlocking everyone. But, this game is still amazing to this day. Cheers, mate! I'm keen to see you go back to Nitro Kart.
There's actually another level of mastery that let's you keep boost throughout the rest of the track. You overload the boost reservoir byte value so it becomes negative and once that happens you're constantly in boost. Driving over a super pad for ultimate sacred fire let's you keep that as long as you don't get another external boost from jumping, pads or drifting.
An upgraded review? Dude, this video is a remake from the ground up!:D And honestly- comparing it to the original vid, this is definitely a sign of how much your content and sense of humor has improved, giving us, the viewers, one of the most high quality shows on the internet. Nice revisit, Jak! One thing I really liked about your original CTR review was the "put up a parking lot" gag, it always cracked me up along with that extremely sad Crash. To me this is one of the best games ever made, I've always liked it way much more than all the Mario Kart games. Can't wait for Nitro Fueled either! Tho I'd have to get myself a PS4 first. This was an AMAZING updated review of your original one and while I still think the old one has it charm and I will continue to re-watch it, this is more than a perfect follow up that gets your points across beautifully. "The fact that the control is so tight means that the player is in full control." I AGREE so much with this and you pretty much said how I felt about this game since the day I played it back in 1999. I'm surprised that there are people who think the controls being super tight is a bad thing because in my honest opinion, it's the best thing about it and why it makes it one of the best Kart racing games ever made and hell, I'd go so far to say that it surpasses Mario Kart. I never liked Mario Kart's looser control physics. i'm not saying that Mario Kart is bad because It's definitely a fun game but it's hard for me to say that I think it's better than Crash Team Racing on a technical level because at he end of the day, I always found myself coming back to Crash Team Racing because of it's super tight, responsive control. I still think it's a bummer that they didn't include Dr. N-Brio, Koala Kong, and Tawna Bandicoot as playable racers in the game because Crash Team Racing was meant to be a final goodbye from Naughty Dog before they moved onto Jak & Daxter and those characters were a par of their Crash Bandicoot history and it just sucked that they forgot to include them to make it a proper send off. And I also agree that it sucked that you couldn't race against the boss characters outside of Adventure Mode as soon as you unlock them. That's something I didn't even realize when I did my review back in 2015 LOL But aside from all this, the game definitely holds up even 20 years later. I think that young kids today would be able to enjoy the game just as much as those of us who grew up with it back in the day. As far as Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is concerned, it's really going to come down to the game's control that makes or breaks it for me. The game is looking promising so far with the beautiful graphics and featuring characters like Crunch and Nitrus Oxide as playable characters (though please don't forget about Dr. N-Brio, Koala Kong, and Tawna, they deserve to be here too!). But all that is gonna mean squat if they butcher the control physics so I'm crossing my fingers that they don't screw that up. Anyway, amazing re-review and looking forward to the look back on Crash Nitro Kart. :)
Hey Jak :D Amazing improvement on your original review of the game! As someone who got the chance to try out the Demo for Nitro Fuelled, having had a go at both Sewer Speedway and Clockwork Wumpa, I can happily say that for the most part, the Remake is absolutely visually stunning and handles great. My only real gripe with it is that the controls, although are tight, they're not quite as sharp as the original, (Having said that its only very slightly off) I'm sure with the time they have left and a few patches, CTR Nitro Fuelled will be everything we hoped it would be. I met this game with a fair bit of scepticism, as its not only my favourite Crash game, it was my first ever gaming experience and I have cherished it ever since. I'm glad that Beenox has proven me wrong thus far. Very eager to to play the full game, as well as hearing your thoughts on it. :D
I've been playing CTR since 2009 (I know I was quite late to the party) and I only managed to master the "sacred fire" thing... 2 months ago. It took more than 12 fucking years. This game is amazing.
Ahh crash team racing was and still is my fave cart racing games💕💕💕. And one of my top 4 favorite games of all time... and I’m 32!!!!! I remember beating all of Oxides time trial times and thinking I had unlocked him like N. Tropy. Only to find out he couldn't be unlocked. Truly devastating. But despite that this game is still a 10/10 for me. If you don't give a 10 to this game I don't think you ever will give a 10.
Great revisit! Definitely agree with what you said about Adventure Mode setting the game apart from other racers - so long as Nitro-Fueled nails that and the controls, I'd be happy even without being able to play online (besides, my mortal fingers are unworthy of the Ultimate Sacred Fire!).
After all this, if Crash Nitro Fuelled doesn't have all of the tightness and precision in the driving mechanics, then with that shortcoming alone, it'll never reach the same height as the original.
Crash nitro kart is an underrated gem from 128 bits era imo, the story was engaging and the characters, as you said in the video but with ctr, are full of charisma. P.D. Good video 👍👍.
I played Yesterday on PS3 for remind before Nitro fueled comes up, and There's so many things to Improve, especially when you compare to newest Mario Kart or Sonic Transformed

This was an AMAZING updated review of your original one and while I still think the old one has it charm and I will continue to re-watch it, this is more than a perfect follow up that gets your points across beautifully. "The fact that the control is so tight means that the player is in full control." I AGREE so much with this and you pretty much said how I felt about this game since the day I played it back in 1999. I'm surprised that there are people who think the controls being super tight is a bad thing because in my honest opinion, it's the best thing about it and why it makes it one of the best Kart racing games ever made and hell, I'd go so far to say that it surpasses Mario Kart. I never liked Mario Kart's looser control physics. i'm not saying that Mario Kart is bad because It's definitely a fun game but it's hard for me to say that I think it's better than Crash Team Racing on a technical level because at he end of the day, I always found myself coming back to Crash Team Racing because of it's super tight, responsive control.
I still think it's a bummer that they didn't include Dr. N-Brio, Koala Kong, and Tawna Bandicoot as playable racers in the game because Crash Team Racing was meant to be a final goodbye from Naughty Dog before they moved onto Jak & Daxter and those characters were a par of their Crash Bandicoot history and it just sucked that they forgot to include them to make it a proper send off. And I also agree that it sucked that you couldn't race against the boss characters outside of Adventure Mode as soon as you unlock them. That's something I didn't even realize when I did my review back in 2015 LOL But aside from all this, the game definitely holds up even 20 years later. I think that young kids today would be able to enjoy the game just as much as those of us who grew up with it back in the day.
As far as Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is concerned, it's really going to come down to the game's control that makes or breaks it for me. The game is looking promising so far with the beautiful graphics and featuring characters like Crunch and Nitrus Oxide as playable characters (though please don't forget about Dr. N-Brio, Koala Kong, and Tawna, they deserve to be here too!). But all that is gonna mean squat if they butcher the control physics so I'm crossing my fingers that they don't screw that up. Anyway, amazing re-review and looking forward to the look back on Crash Nitro Kart. :)

Amazing improvement on your original review of the game!
As someone who got the chance to try out the Demo for Nitro Fuelled, having had a go at both Sewer Speedway and Clockwork Wumpa, I can happily say that for the most part, the Remake is absolutely visually stunning and handles great.
My only real gripe with it is that the controls, although are tight, they're not quite as sharp as the original, (Having said that its only very slightly off)
I'm sure with the time they have left and a few patches, CTR Nitro Fuelled will be everything we hoped it would be. I met this game with a fair bit of scepticism, as its not only my favourite Crash game, it was my first ever gaming experience and I have cherished it ever since.
I'm glad that Beenox has proven me wrong thus far. Very eager to to play the full game, as well as hearing your thoughts on it. :D
I've been playing CTR since 2009 (I know I was quite late to the party) and I only managed to master the "sacred fire" thing... 2 months ago. It took more than 12 fucking years.

I remember beating all of Oxides time trial times and thinking I had unlocked him like N. Tropy. Only to find out he couldn't be unlocked. Truly devastating. But despite that this game is still a 10/10 for me. If you don't give a 10 to this game I don't think you ever will give a 10.

Great revisit! Definitely agree with what you said about Adventure Mode setting the game apart from other racers - so long as Nitro-Fueled nails that and the controls, I'd be happy even without being able to play online (besides, my mortal fingers are unworthy of the Ultimate Sacred Fire!).
While Oxide is playable in Nitro Kart, Nitro Fuled will let everyone experience how he'll truly play out. Hovercraft or Not.

After all this, if Crash Nitro Fuelled doesn't have all of the tightness and precision in the driving mechanics, then with that shortcoming alone, it'll never reach the same height as the original.
I pre-ordered the standard edition of the game cause I'm not spending an extra $35+ on a character and a few other things.

Crash nitro kart is an underrated gem from 128 bits era imo, the story was engaging and the characters, as you said in the video but with ctr, are full of charisma.
