My friends hated playing Polar Pass against me back in the day because the skill gap was super apparent, lol. I was the only one who was able to perfectly execute the narrow stretch with water on both sides every time without fail.
14:03 I agree with you, and I think part of it may have to do with the fact the spiral in Papu's Pyramid is fully made up of 90 degree angles, which makes it a lot easier to do mini-turbos. As a result, it's pretty hard to get through at first but once you get better the drifting system, it becomes pretty fun to steer through. Meanwhile the spiral in Komodo Mines is just one long and sharp curve so it's basically impossible to just drift through it without braking or hopping or just bouncing into the wall. Also great ranking video. Polar Pass and Hot Air Skyway are my favorites so it's nice to see them so high up here. Can't wait for the Nitro Kart and Nitro Fueled rankings
I have a soft spot for that level because I remember in 2019 I was on the verge of taking my life but for some strange reason I was watching someone play Polar Pass on TH-cam and it completely calmed me down 😂sad I know
Great vid, Riko! Hot Air Skyway Cortex Castle has always done it for me so it's nice to see them up high on the list . Cortex Castle is a cloose 2nd. Honestly crazy how CTR & NF are simultaneously the best kart-racers around this modern age.
I have like over 300 hours in Nitro Fueled and have played plenty of the original CTR on Duckstation and I kid you not I forgot Slide Colosseum even existed until you mentioned it, insanity
Especially considering the statues of Cortex with green fire behind him. It gives you the sense of the threat he perceives himself to be, and he CAN be quite a threat at times.
My parents suprised my sister and I a PS1 on Christmas when CTR came out. It alongside Spyro were the first games we got. N.Gin Labs was always my favorite track, I just love the theme, speed and its really fun. Sewer Speedway is close though.
It's great to see Sewer Speedway so high on the ranking. I think it has a good length, enough hazards to make it engaging, a fun shortcut, and you can run on the walls at the last section. Easily my favorite track in the game!
Fun story - I was in a CTR tournament some years ago and the tournament organizers had decided that Oxide Station would be the grand final. I pointed out that it's not available in multiplayer, upon which they argued with me for a few minutes before checking themselves. Since I'd finished 1st in every race in the tournament so far, I let my grand final opponent pick the track, she picked my worst track (Papu Pyramid) and destroyed me. The moral of the story is Papu Pyramid is bottom tier and always will be.
🎉 yaayy another Riko vid! Amazing work as always. I completely agree with turbo track, I used to get so proud with myself about unlocking it but playing again as and playing it in NF I felt like why is this your end game gift track
just gonna add that turbo track is among the lower of my preferences, BUT the pleasure i get from it is the control, being able to maneuver into the turbos, or evade them for the tightest turn ever, it’s just pleasure to get out of the “M” just a bit faster than last time, right on the next turbo, i liked it enough that the oxide ghost time trial on the track was almost easy. but yeah, for speed n gin labs rocks, but ONLY after understanding usf, which is not explained on the game i think, and debatably a gimmick for the super jumps, and as a leftover turbo track
It's cool how we all can have different experiences or opinions with/on certain tracks. I'll be honest, Polar Pass is one of the few tracks I DREAD when replaying adventure mode. Meanwhile, Tiny Colosseum is my absolute favorite.
Hot take: I love slide colosseum. I learned how the boost mechanics work on that track and had to rely on skill to maintain speed. It's a great track to learn the game on.
I generally agree with this - nice list! Personally, my top would probably be Sewer Speedway. Coco park is definitely the easiest track - I've introduced the game to my sons theough Nitro fueled and Coco park was the first track my 5 year old was able to win on his own.
Another great video Riko! My personal top 3: 1st Sewer Speedway 2nd Polar Pass 3rd N Gin Labs Still remember as a Kid when I first unlocked the time trail Ghost for Tropy and Oxide on Polar Pass and how awesome it was as a reveil since I had no idea it was a thing and just wanted to practice. Still like Sewer more as I always look forward to it on a fresh playthrough in the first hub. Btw a future video should be ranking all Crash characters so I can confirm you are a real one by ranking Pura above Polar xD
Papu Pyramid's Spiral isn't as tedious as Dragon Mines' so I'm not surprised the later is ranked lower. Hot Air Skyway is my personal favorite because when you know how to drive, it go pretty fast and the satisfaction is huge. But I do agree on Polar Pass being one of the best because it has everything right about CTR as a whole =)
Good list. HAS is my favorite from OG but we matched on the Sewer Speedway placement, though in transition to NF Sewer is the worst in terms of decrease in quality. Very excited for the rest of the trilogy!
The one I really disagree with is Dingo Canyon. Dingo Canyon imo is a really great one, specifically because of the Froggying and Speed Ghost mechanic. Going down that big hill just to try your best to get huge speed ghosts and jumps to mitigate the water is awesome, and right after you have up-hills again and again that are a prime area to fit a few more in. But you don't want to lose your reserves, so you can't do it too much either without just going slower. Lastly, the second turn after the giant hill that leads to the second pair or armadillos is also a little bit of a tricky turn, which can be very easy to take a bad line on with a Speed character specifically. Overall it's a track that you can optimize a lot on, but is not the easiest to do so either. When you pull it off though it's so satisfying. Coco Park actually has a similar appeal, as an aside, and its straight-forwardness just makes it all the more interesting to see how you lost or gained time. And the fact that Mystery Cave really doesn't have have any great opportunities for this kind of thing is part of why I'm not huge on it, because it feels like it ought to. Final thoughts: Tiny Arena would be one of my favourites if not for its S-turn in the middle, Roo's Tubes's speedghosts are sick, and I absolutely agree that Polar Pass is one of the highest peaks of this game, and is my personal favourite as well. I feel like most people would probably walk away happy enough with your list.
I hope there will be a Crash Tag Team Racing ranking somewhere down the line, though I know how mixed the opinion on that game is. I got a bundle for PS2 when I was little and it had Twinsanity, Nitro Kart, and that game, and CTTR was definitely the one I spent the most time with. Something about the collect-a-thon style hub worlds, the cheesy theme park vibes, and the immature humor got a grasp of me when I was younger. Shocking lol
I don’t have a particular attachment to CTTR, and tbh I think the racing is by far the worst part of it (I actually find the rest of it pretty fun), and the tracks being boring imo is a huge part of that. So I just don’t think a track ranking for it would be that interesting to make or watch
Hard for me to pick a favourite as there are several good ones. I like Crash Cove's simplicity and yes the shortcut in Tiger Temple is creative and clever.
For me the top 2 are: 1. Sewer Speedway 2. Papu's Pyramid Most other tracks are really good so I wouldn't know how to rank them overall. As for Tiny Arena... That's a track I both love and hate. It's one of the most fun tracks for me because it's so bumpy, but it feels too long sometimes. And I agree about Slide Colosseum and Turbo Track being the worst. To be fair to the Turbo Track's "M" section, it's there to give turn characters an edge since speed characters would dominate the track otherwise (they still do, but this was meant to balance that). From what I recall when they were designing tracks they tried to balance out most of them in some way, to ensure not 1 engine/driving style is best. For example, that 90-degree turn section in Papu's Pyramid allows turn characters to not bump into corners while also having an easier time getting the boost at the end. Also, chaining shortcuts is easier with a higher turn rate and the final turn (if shortcut is not used) is very easy for turn characters. While speed characters can gain advantage in other sections. Another example is Polar Pass. Turn characters have two sections that favor them. One being those disconnected ramps with turbo pads where a sharp turn is needed after them. The other is that wall mini-shortcut; if a turn character fails it or the player doesn't know they can jump over the wall, turn characters have an easier time getting into the turbo pad behind the wall. Also keep in mind that they designed the game for casual players and not speedrunners, so a lot of sections make sense when you think about the fact that lots of players didn't even know how to do mini turbos.
Predicted 3 of the top 4 correctly; and in order, too! Everybody knows Polar Pass is the business. Especially the mega cut over the river. Honestly didn't know about Oxide Station not being playable in multiplayer either (no friends havin ass lmao), but it makes sense! PS1 would probably burst into flames trying to render 4 parts of the level at once lol
@@KylieKyubii no worries there, with only text it's pretty hard sometimes and I didn't really write it in a way that made it any easier xD great video btw
I agree with most of your list. I'd put Tiger Temple lower than Tiny Arena, and move Tiny Arena wayyy up. Arena's too long, I agree, but it's at least technical enough to keep gameplay interesting. Tiger Temple's just... boring, shortcut notwithstanding. And Coco Park should be dead last. We already had the tutorial track in Crash Cove. Why the heck is there a second one? And I think Hot Air Skyway is my #1. But, god damn, Polar Pass is a close 2nd, maybe 3rd. I should make a countdown like this. Great video.
CTR is my favorite kart racer of all time. Scratch that. It's my favorite racing game of all time. The only track I don't like really like is Dragon Mines. Every other track is either good og great IMO. And that mini turbo mechanic is so good. Nitro Fueled just don't hit the same spot for me as the original. If only Brio and Tawna was available in the original as well.
I do, honestly, unironically think CTR is the best kart racer made to this day, though NF is almost right there with it. I'm very much looking forward to seeing the ranking for that and especially CNK, i don't think that game ever gets the love it deserves.
The community made the original ctr into a online game for free and suprisingly is better then nitro fueled online. Also besides of that i highly reccomend Dr. Robotnik Ring Racers,is the best kart racing fangame of all time. 151 race tracks, almost 50 characters to unlock,so many mechanics then is one of the most complex kart racing ever and the visuals are gorgeous like wow, they nailed the Saturn era style. P.d. i love Sewer Speedway A LOT.
18: Turbo Track (Kind of boring. There’s pretty much nothing. It’s not bad, just bland)(Riko’s Spot: 18) 17: Slide Colleseum (Exactly the same as Turbo Track! Should not be a final track!)(Riko’s Spot: 17) 16: Roo’s Tubes (Does exactly what it should as a beginner)(Riko’s Spot: 13) 15: Coco Park (I like the color and look, but the track doesn’t have much else)(Riko’s Spot: 9) 14: Blizzard Bluff (This version is a lot better than the one in Nitro Fueled. Love the shortcut)(Riko’s Spot: 14) 13: Tiger Temple (The shortcut is so cool, but the track aside from that is just ok)(Riko’s Spot: 10) 12: Dragon Mines (A bit of broken, frustrating track that I enjoy)(Riko’s Spot: 16) 11: Tiny Arena (Goes on a little too long even though it’s a more fun, better version of Wario Stadium)(Riko’s Spot: 11) 10: Dingo Canyon (A very underrated track! I love this one so much!)(Riko’s Spot: 15) 9: Crash Cove (Idk why but I love this iconic, comforting first track!)(Riko’s Spot: 12) 8: Mystery Caves (This track goes way too hard for being so early in the game)(Riko’s Spot: 8) 7: Papu’s Pyramid (Papu’s Pyramid is peak level design! Papu’s Pyramid is peak!)(Riko’s Spot: 7) 6: Sewer Speedway (Ah…the memories! The memories of having a blast in this banger track!)(Riko’s Spot: 2) 5: Oxide Station (A perfectly complex and difficult challenge worthy of being the final track)(Riko’s Spot: 3) 4: Polar Pass (An ice track has no reason going this unnecessarily hard)(Riko’s Spot: 1) 3: N. Gin Labs (Everything I want from a track in one epic course! Love it!)(Riko’s Spot: 5) 2: Hot Air Skyway (CTR’s Rainbow Road only maybe better)(Riko’s Spot: 4) 1: Cortex Castle (This track has always done it for me. It has always been my favorite!)(Riko’s Spot: 6)
It's my favourite Kart racer, I dunno I just get a better sense of speed out of it. Although I do remember really enjoying Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed.
Honestly? CTR was AMAZING for when it came out, easily being way better than Mario Kart 64 in my opinion, and it holds up well to this day. If someone asked me "Hey, wanna come round and play Crash Team Racing" I’d be there so damn fast.
Here I am, in 2024, at my Mom's country house. I found my old PSone, the mini version, with CTR in the disc bay!! But I can't play it. I can't find the AV cord 😭 F U C K
I slightly prefer CTRNF as well as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but that’s just my opinion. I think it’s completely valid to like the original CTR over both. :3
I was using MAGIX Video Pro X and then switched to DaVinci Resolve. However, after I made this video, Resolve stopped working and I switched back to MAGIX. So it’s up in the air right now. 😂
My friends hated playing Polar Pass against me back in the day because the skill gap was super apparent, lol. I was the only one who was able to perfectly execute the narrow stretch with water on both sides every time without fail.

Also great ranking video. Polar Pass and Hot Air Skyway are my favorites so it's nice to see them so high up here. Can't wait for the Nitro Kart and Nitro Fueled rankings
The color scheme of polar pass is SO GOOD too. Very pleasant to the eyes. It's amazing how they managed to make 2 snow tracks very distinct visually
I have a soft spot for that level because I remember in 2019 I was on the verge of taking my life but for some strange reason I was watching someone play Polar Pass on TH-cam and it completely calmed me down 😂sad I know
@scantyer I agree with the visual appearance, but also Polar Pass's theme is one of my favorite songs in the game. Noice Scanty pfp btw.
snowy white + orange vs BLUUUUU ICEEEEE
That number 6 rank transition almost made me spit out my drink of laughing at a random fart joke from Riko lol
Great vid, Riko! Hot Air Skyway Cortex Castle has always done it for me so it's nice to see them up high on the list . Cortex Castle is a cloose 2nd. Honestly crazy how CTR & NF are simultaneously the best kart-racers around this modern age.
Dingo Canyon truly is one of the tracks of all time.
Very remarkable ranking!
And it's funny cause, Polar Pass was also put into the #1 spot on Square Eyed Jak's video of CTR tracks from worst to best.
my favourite track is oxide station. as a kid when I saw the huge boosts and wavy turns, my jaw hit the floor.
I have like over 300 hours in Nitro Fueled and have played plenty of the original CTR on Duckstation and I kid you not I forgot Slide Colosseum even existed until you mentioned it, insanity
Tiny's arena and hot air skyway are some of my favorite tracks
*_Cortex Castle is my favorite. It never gets old for me, and it looks stunning in the remake._*
Especially considering the statues of Cortex with green fire behind him. It gives you the sense of the threat he perceives himself to be, and he CAN be quite a threat at times.
I cheered when Sewer Speedway placed so high, always been my favourite and I’ve never heard anyone else rave about it, great list!
You got me in to Crash speedrunning and Crash as a whole.
Good ranking vid. Mystery Caves is my absolute favorite track. Polar Pass is definitely a very strong track with very good winter music.
I just felt like searching for a ranking of the maps of this game and you uploaded this 1 month ago. Nice timing :D
those transitions are like random jump scares but with laughter.
Alright alright I'll sub. Every video I've been seeing from you has been pretty consistently fire
My parents suprised my sister and I a PS1 on Christmas when CTR came out. It alongside Spyro were the first games we got. N.Gin Labs was always my favorite track, I just love the theme, speed and its really fun. Sewer Speedway is close though.
hell yeah!! i'd put n gin labs at the top personally, but i agree with most rankings here 👍love the transition gags as well lawl
3:50 at first I was thinking: “what’s wrong with turbo track?” Then I thought: “oh, everything actually”😂
It's great to see Sewer Speedway so high on the ranking. I think it has a good length, enough hazards to make it engaging, a fun shortcut, and you can run on the walls at the last section. Easily my favorite track in the game!

great video, never finished this game but all these tracks look hella fun
Papu's Pyramid spiral is definitely easier than Dragon Mine's. It takes longer to get through, but it doesn't bend as much.
I agree with most of them! Sewers is probably my number 1. Great video :D
Hell is traveling up the Dragon Mines spiral, over and over in an endless loop, just like Sisyphus.
I could not agree more with the polar pass ranking. Music goes so hard, track is so fun!!
It's cool how we all can have different experiences or opinions with/on certain tracks. I'll be honest, Polar Pass is one of the few tracks I DREAD when replaying adventure mode. Meanwhile, Tiny Colosseum is my absolute favorite.
Great video Riko! Glad you are a fellow Sewer Speedway lover. :) Looking forward to the next vids in the series!
20:07 this made me wheeze so hard
Honestly a very fair ranking
Hot take: I love slide colosseum. I learned how the boost mechanics work on that track and had to rely on skill to maintain speed. It's a great track to learn the game on.

Dingo Canyon’s soundtrack is probably my favorite out of all of them. That alone made it one of my favorites
another banger video, unexpected theme and im excited for the next rankings
Another great video Riko!
My personal top 3:
1st Sewer Speedway
2nd Polar Pass
3rd N Gin Labs
Still remember as a Kid when I first unlocked the time trail Ghost for Tropy and Oxide on Polar Pass and how awesome it was as a reveil since I had no idea it was a thing and just wanted to practice. Pura is a cat so he wins by default
Very nice video :), I instantly subbed. Looking up to the cnk and the ctrnf rankings
This is a really good video. Good job.
I really appreciate that Nitro Fueled fixed Turbo Track's issues with some simple mechanic changes
Polar Pass is my fav too. Track is GOATED. Love the transitions, they were funny.
They’re high key my favorite parts of these ranking videos to make 😂
The Wonder Showzen slaves built the pyramids song made me laugh my ass off, wasn't expecting that at all
Oxide station is now playable in multiplayer with the fan mod 60 FPS widescreen online play patch
Personal turbo track and that 90° turn end of race is vety skill doing good. Need multiple break jump combo in short time very cool.
Always a shock to the system being reminded Wonder Showzen existed.
My favourite is sewer speedway.
15:05 Princess Peach's reward to Mario for letting her get kidnapped so much.
Good list. HAS is my favorite from OG but we matched on the Sewer Speedway placement, though in transition to NF Sewer is the worst in terms of decrease in quality. Very excited for the rest of the trilogy!
Hey bro welcome back
15:04
I think I lost a lung by laughing
So happy to see a ton of people praise Sewer Speedway cause both my older brothers told me it was garbage as a kid
Love that Sam got it should been shown more
The one I really disagree with is Dingo Canyon. Dingo Canyon imo is a really great one, specifically because of the Froggying and Speed Ghost mechanic. Riko, I want a list video every day and a documentary video every week! XD
Babe wake up new Riko video just dropped
I hope there will be a Crash Tag Team Racing ranking somewhere down the line, though I know how mixed the opinion on that game is. Well holy shit I never knew that was teeth or even a face in Tiger Temple. I would say either Polar Pass or Hot Air Skyway are my favourites.
It's crazy that I've watched two videos and they both said polar pass was the best and what's even crazier is that I agree
Polar Pass Supremacy 😤
17:49 I'll say more: hot air skyway is the rainbow road equivalent of CTR. That's why it's so good
For me the top 2 are:
1. Sewer Speedway
2. Papu's Pyramid
Most other tracks are really good so I wouldn't know how to rank them overall. As for Tiny Arena... That's a track I both love and hate. It's one of the most fun tracks for me because it's so bumpy, but it feels too long sometimes.

Great list! 🎉
I am looking forward to the tag team racing tier list
SC is elevated by the dance party aesthetic in Nitro Fueled imo
how can bro say that the 2nd turbo type is called ultimate sacred fire and not elaborate on the history of that 😭😭
Because that wasn’t the point of the video, nor do I know the history.
seems like you missed the fact i clearly wrote it as a joke xd
Sarcasm/humor is hard to interpret through text sometimes, my bad. 😪
@@KylieKyubii no worries there, with only text it's pretty hard sometimes and I didn't really write it in a way that made it any easier xD great video btw

There's only one or two positions I would contest, out of 18. Not bad man.
18: Turbo Track (Kind of boring. There’s pretty much nothing. It’s not bad, just bland)(Riko’s Spot: 18)

1: Cortex Castle (This track has always done it for me. It has always been my favorite!)(Riko’s Spot: 6)
I would put Blizzard Bluff much higher because i love that track, but i respect your opinion
Cant wait for CNK and Nitro Fueled rankings!
YOU SHALL PASS!
The original CTR Is my favorite game, I really hope we get CTR Nitrofueled upgraded for PS5 or a sequel
Ah, Pete Holmes Badman reference, I see.
Sees him play as Pura...Yay Pura!
Hot air skyway #1 for me.
10,000 subs. very cool.
It's my favourite Kart racer, I dunno I just get a better sense of speed out of it. Although I do remember really enjoying Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed.
Huge missed opportunity to name the first track “Crash Course”
Its just to learn u-turning right on turbo track
I would also argue that n trophy would never be caught dead in a sewer lol
LMAOOO so fax abt dingo canyon
I guess my top five would be
1. Sewer Speedway
2. Papu’s Pyramid
3. Oxide Station
4. Cortex Castle
5. N. Gin Lab
I like the asthetic of using Eaxh character fke their own home track. But I would argue that N trophy should be used in turbo track/slide coliseum
Was definitely just a case of throwing him somewhere lol
We have the same bottom 3 and same top 1 tracks!
Hey, Riko! You stopped speedrunning PS for PSX? Why? I would like seeing you back!
Honestly? CTR was AMAZING for when it came out, easily being way better than Mario Kart 64 in my opinion, and it holds up well to this day. If someone asked me "Hey, wanna come round and play Crash Team Racing" I’d be there so damn fast.
I low kea feal like crash bash lvls would make for fun ctr maps
Here I am, in 2024, at my Mom's country house. I found my old PSone, the mini version, with CTR in the disc bay!!
But I can't play it. I can't find the AV cord 😭 F U C K
What IS better than CTR? CTR NF?
I slightly prefer CTRNF as well as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but that’s just my opinion. I think it’s completely valid to like the original CTR over both. :3
CTRNF has fucked up physics if you have played a lot of the original. I hate the game. There's an online mod for the original.
Which editing software did you use then switch to?
I was using MAGIX Video Pro X and then switched to DaVinci Resolve. However, after I made this video, Resolve stopped working and I switched back to MAGIX.
So it’s up in the air right now. 😂
Do you intend for the trilogy be back to back to back or have other videos between?
A couple videos in between probably but I think they’ll both be done within this year.
