Jomtien Near Pattaya is the best kept secret of Thailand, it has night life, great beach and night markets. I don't think there is any place in the world which could give 500 dollar one bedroom apartment with a beach view with sunshine all year around. Jomtien has it all for cheap.

Have lived here in Jomtien for a year now, Grocery shopping can be done 15min away is Big c, Lotus and fresh vegetable and fruit market. Yes, its easy to fall for this place and enjoy the relaxing vibe.
Just outside Hua Hin you can rent a two bed terraced house for £160 gbp a month. No brainer, all bills £40 gbp. You can live there for £200 a month all paid. My pension is currently £204 a week. No brainer.

My council tax is £158 a month and the road outside is like Soi Pothole. Very tempted to move.

I live in Jomtien and its already over populated. Well during high season. I and my Thai lady friend think the food is better in Hua Hin where we lived for 2 years. Driving in Pattaya is crazy dangerous too. Us Farangs must have targets on our backs. But the new beach and sunsets in Jomtien are da bomb.

Interesting… I was thinking the opposite. Home base in HH and visit other beaches. I stayed in Pattaya and surrounding for ten days, only spend a day in HH.
They are each other direct opposites. One is the drain hole of S. E. Asia, famous for sex trafficking the other is the summer residence of the King, weekend hide out for the Bangkok elite even the pm visits Hua Hin often. As for foreigners from US or Europe I never really understood what is so special about Hua Hin as a beach destination. The horses spoil that for me and the lack of quality beach clubs. 🎉
Loads of problems Thai drinking and loud music in nightetime. Some foreigners as well.
