i did a very similar project on my '05 OBXT Limited. I got a parts legacy wagon for 600 cad and swapped the suspensions between vehicles. I painted everything and pressed in new poly bushings. now im considering a 6 spd swap and essentially building and outback spec b
That's a good deal on the parts car. The 6 speed is definitely a game changer if you are willing to put in the time and money. Good luck on your build!
Great stuff here. I have an 05 legacy I want to sti swap at some point in the future if possible. The information you have provided will be very useful. Thank you.
what coilovers do you have? Will kegacy coils fit on the obxt? I have an 05 lgt sedan and plan to swap my car onto an obxt or lgt wagon. I prefer the looks of the obxt and the 4.44 fd until i can 6 swap it
Yeah so I have bc coilovers for a legacy gt. They work on obxt but the rear end is at max height and it's pretty low. If you remove the body spacers it fixes that but there are alot of parts involved with that. You also need rear adjustable lower control arms because your tow will be all messed up at that height. I have some older videos that go into more detail on lowering a outback.
Wow I appreciate the quick responses. I discovered your channel today and I've spent the last several hours glued to my PC lol. Thank you, and I look forward to your tuning videos and learning how to myself. I'm at 335whp on a dyno dynamics via ap v2 and I'm about to convert to top feed, 1300cc and an fp green or bcpx500 shooting for 400whp on 92 and 450 on e85.
@michaeli-7186 definitely possible, I always make my gasoline tunes kind of conservative an I was able to get 380whp on 91. I never tuned it on e85 but 450 is definitely doable. I was looking at the bcpx500 turbo too before I decided to go with the blouch 1.5xtr.
I used legacy gt spec b rear axles because they come with the r180 diff and legacy hubs so they work perfect. The front axles are the original outback/legacy 5mt axles.
I'll be watching this VERY closely and as always I'll have lots of questions, so let's begin, shall we? What's the hardware you're, those oval plates, using in place of the oem rear alignment bolts? I've got the KTA124 (and the adjustable camber bushings) setup on the rear but the rear alignment never stays put once I drive it from the alignment shop. Oh, and what's the label/transmission code on your new 6 speed?
The hardware that is used on the inside of the rear control arms is from whiteline. It's a toe adjustment lockout bolt so the alignment doesn't move from that mounting point. The transmission code for the 6 speed is TY856WW8MD. Thanks for watching and keep the questions coming!
If you are talking about the transmission crossmember bushings that are energy suspension I believe. The rear differential bushings that are in the subframe are from whiteline
@@SWSpeedCo Oh boy, how did you get those Whiteline rear diff bushings pressed in? The C-clamp in the Autozone kit isn't big enough to get around the subframe. Did you just use some bolts and washers and crank down on that to press the new bushings in?

A lot of work, but well worth it in the end. Good job on torquing everything properly as it should be.
Thank you!
i want to swap 6 speed forester SH 3rd gen ej20/ ej25 09--13 model. which transmission, axles and diff is compatible.

Nice job! This looks very similar to what I did to 6mt swap my 2008 H6 outback, minus the canbus work.
Geez one man job ! Great job with the click click edit
Thank you!
It's like torque wrench asmr

This is what I want to do to my 2018 3.6 Outback
Are you ever gonna put brembos from an sti on here?
I will probably do wilwood brakes at some point

@swspeed what year Spec B did you order the axles from? Sedan/wagon? I am looking these videos more and more! Keep up the great work and videos.
Thank you!! The spec b only came in sedan and were made from 2007 to 2009 so any from those 3 years will work.
@SW Speed, dude what grill is that?? I'm looking to replace my 08 OBXT stock grill with a mess grill!
It just some no-name grill I bought off ebay years ago. Thanks for watching!
Just realized mesh was autocorrected to mess, didn't mean to imply anything was a mess! Dope OB!@@SWSpeedCo
Thanks haha! I didn't even notice, I read it as mesh.

Yeah I used the bolt and washer trick. I wasn't able to press them all the way in until I dropped the subframe.
Can you work on mine ???? Im been serious !!!!
