04:17 a VPN *DOES NOT PROVIDE ANONYMITY* it is a web proxy - nothing else. Not even Tor provides anonymity now as it was downgraded to "privacy" in literature. The connection to and from a VPN might be encrypted, but that doesn't stop them logging what you do or manipulating traffic. For example, a VPN is approached and paid to redirect people looking at or for certain products to a certain shop or supplier. This does happen! Think about it, if it was SO secure no one saw your traffic, how could a VPN offer to filter certain sites for you? They see and record EVERYTHING YOU DO. If data flows through equipment in the UK, then by Law, all data is logged and that means a full list of what you did is made available. They can also sell all your browsing habits to companies and often do to make money. When you go via your ISP, they are governed by LAW and in the UK there are strict data protection laws. If you connect to a company outside the UK, that protection has gone and you can not do a thing about it. You downgrade your own privacy using a VPN.
A VPN does not protect you from anything, it mostly messes up access to sites as the IP ranges are on block-lists, you can't get BBCi, ITVplayer, 4OD, Netflix or similar as they are blocked, most sites require endless captcha inputs. The sites still know who you are anyway from your browser and computer via info stored, whether you log-in or from equipment serial numbers and embedded unique identity numbers assigned to *YOU* when you download and install software.
The old argument about using free WiFi has gone, who does that now when most use 4G or 5G when out and about. You are still protected using phone data. No casual hacker can decrypt your phone signal.
So think again seriously - why downgrade your privacy and not want to be protected by UK Law ? Are you happy about logging in to the bank or ebay via a proxy server with people watching? If I go on ebay and search for items, I can get a list of post codes of other VPN users that have looked at products or bought them, if I go on TV services, some VPNs re-purpose your connection and use you as the proxy so the users assumes YOUR identity and IP number as the VPN itself is blocked. This happened twice on BBCi. I connected via a VPN and the traffic was routed out from the VPN through a customer's IP and on to BBCi. I have also traced IPs back to fake servers.
A VPN does not provide any security or privacy, it lowers it and puts you at risk. If you need to use WiFi when out, set up your own Raspberry Pi with PiVPN and PiHole and you can connect to your home network using Wireguard on a phone or PC - this is extremely secure and puts you back out from your home network. No company in the middle messing with or looking at your traffic or selling info.
You would be amazed at the number of Log_ins for banks, social media, email and other systems VPNs can see and store.

Thanks, I'm going to research VPNs to better understand them other internet apps, sites and programs. I don't trust people blindly especially highly positive "reviews" vedios this vedio is probably an add. Furthermore I'll get into privacy laws in my country.
      Have a good day.

      Where's my potato?!

    • @awilywolf
      @awilywolf 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Most people understand this. A VPN is risk mitigation, not risk elimination. In theory, a VPN company could release data pertaining to any user engaging their service under certain legal pressures. However, most are subject to loose or absent data retention/forwarding obligations - though you still have to be careful on this point and investigate where your VPN is based and what laws it may be subject to..
If you want super secure anonymity/untraceability use TAILS with/out TOR, a zombie system with Qubes OS, or a Raspberry Pi with a VPN purchased through washed/untraceable cryptocurrency.
The above options are a Snowden level of crazy, but are viable and necessary under certain circumstances. Really depends on your threat model.

As a common Brave Browser user (I'm using it right now), it is an amazing one. 10 out of 10 and I would recommend. It is safe. in-fact it shows that I have 56 blocked trackers currently. it's truly amazing. I would 100% recommend (Like I said earlier). So this is just amazing, also for some reason I've noticed it improves my gameplay on games that I use brave browser for. I gotta say, this is great. Well that's my view. See ya.

I just saw this review content in regards to the brave browser, I just happen to use brave for a couple of days now and I still wanna know what other people think about it, based on this one it is more like a mixed content of review/Ad, the minimalistic design of brave browser is well thought, people will argue that it is chrome in disguise, well it is running chrome engine in the first place, I found brave faster than any other browsers I`d used (the well-known browsers) so far so good, the security is good enough for me, but we all know that browsers come with drawbacks too so I know brave will have one, I turned something on the settings and some video streaming sites are not even working properly, only youtube. I did a thorough search into its settings and the feature I turned on has to do with direct links (I`m no IT so sorry for a very simple explanation) when I turned it off every other video worked just like a charm, so I need to do more research about brave browser, but like I said earlier so far so good.

THIS last update , 1/2024, was what left me wanting out. I had all my settings just as I preferred and this last update wiped them out. When brave can improve it's site WITHOUT wiping out all your preferences, especially in the NEWS, then maybe I'll come back. Meanwhile I do not have time to go through all the news sites that I have zero interest in, and they are MANNNNY, which are now placed in my face annoyingly. When changes annoy, it's cool when within reason, this change is not within reason due to the LENNNNGTHY amount of news sites to go through in order to delete them, I have better things assigned to my time and my preferences were already set.

It's the best browser I could find for a while. but from what I can see the only thing it's missing is a vpn to block your ip and hide it from the government and websites that censor like youtube and all other social media etc. Luckily I found one browser that seems like a brave killer. Epic private browser. This isn't an ad for them but in my research for the best opsec and security I find that Epic is the best browser available since it is free, comes with a built in VPN, adblocker, proxy and is built on chromium. It has everything brave has in terms of security plus that built in proxy which really makes it superior for me.

Hi, about 14 days ago, the link between Uphold and Brave stopped working. It says - Unfortunately, your Brave Rewards cannot be verified because Brave Rewards Verification is not currently supported in your region.
Don't you know what's going on? So I am not getting BAT tokens. So far there has been no problem. I'm from Czech Republic. Thank you

Hey there, have you tried contacting Brave support/community regarding this? I'm sure they would be able to help you quickly!

10 seconds in, and you're assaulted by a pun on "Brave" being "brave". That's a nope from me. Besides, this smells like a 6 minute ad for Brave Browser anyway...

Should I turn off Brave Analytics P3A from tracking me ??? Also why do they make it so hard to get into my settings without using links for each setting.????

@@Saras_Photobox2015 I dont think so. it depends if you are using background play on mobile. Also you are going to have to configure settings for that stuff to make sure it doesnt reduce battery life as fast.

Does this sight avoid ad blockers? I am trying to find a way to bypass adblockers. Google has not returned any emails. If you are Google, you do what you want I guess. Anyway I am unable to see this video, because they claim I am using ad blockers, which I am not. the icon is not on my computer.

I've been using Brave for over eight years. They sure screwed it up with all the spam ads. Over half of my bookmarks are missing since they were updated last week. I'm going back to firefox.

This individual you see in the video is not "John". I suspect "John" is an actor. There is a group of Crypto youtube channels out there using this actor to scam people.
