    What a great idea for a desk. And it's 2 in one. Came out so elegantly! Love the pillows as accents in the chairs too! 😜

    What grit sand paper and what type of cloth did u use?

    • @TammysHomeTips
      @TammysHomeTips  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! Completely neglected to mention that. I used 320 grit finishing sand paper and Minwax staining cloth.

    I think they’re called Vevor table legs, but which one did u used 16 or 28? I found the top at lowes and want to make a desk I don’t like the cheap laminate top that store made.

      @TammysHomeTips  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Rock&Roll I agree! That was a big motivator for me too. It is the 28 inch one. Much success for your project!

    Did you drill into the top of the filing cabinet at all or is the butcher block just resting on top of it (after filling the gap)?

    I saw this same Butcher Block and thought it would make an unique L-Shape Desktop for my studio. I saw on Lowe's website that the Butcher Block is finished already, and just needs to be sealed. If I may ask, why did you choose to sand it 3X and seal it, and was the Butcher Block not smooth and finished as advertised? Any feedback you can provide would be really helpful!

    • @TammysHomeTips
      @TammysHomeTips  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the question. Actually it did come smooth. We lightly sanded between the polyurethane coating since the wood tends to absorb the liquid and cause the wood filaments to expand slightly. After a coat or two it remains fairly smooth.

      @@TammysHomeTips Thank you so much for responding! It makes sense what you did because you wanted the sealant to go deep into the pores of the wood. Well I’ll ask this last question then, does this make the sealant last longer, and instead of every 3 years for a reapply, it’s every 5-6?

      I would say it depends on how you are planning on using it. As a desk it might last longer without refinishing. On the other hand, in the kitchen it may need refinishing more often. I cannot say for sure. 🙃

      @@TammysHomeTips Thank you! I would guess then that using it only as a desk in a studio for content creation and studying would last longer than using it as a countertop. Thank you so much for your help, I cannot thank you enough. This Butcher Block is pretty pricey, but it is unique, sturdy, and spacious, and it's all the things that makes it a custom desk, as opposed to getting a generic office desk that does not meet your needs! Thank you again!

    Is that 1.5 inch?

    • @TammysHomeTips
      @TammysHomeTips  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I believe so… It’s standard thickness for a butcher block top.

    Do you think one that's 6' long would need support in the middle?

    • @TammysHomeTips
      @TammysHomeTips  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm… I’m not sure. I guess it depends on if you put the legs in from each end a few more inches than I did.

    • @tls5625
      @tls5625 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TammysHomeTips I actually wanted to set it on 2 filing cabinets instead of attaching legs.

    • @TammysHomeTips
      @TammysHomeTips  ปีที่แล้ว

      In that case, it should be plenty of support in my opinion. 👍🏼👍🏼

    Where did you get the legs Tammy?

      I forgot to mention that part… I searched online for metal table/desk legs and there are lots to choose from. Hope you find one you like! 🙌🏼

      @ChapoCandela I actually bought mine through Walmart but the one I purchased is no longer available unfortunately. There are a variety of different kinds when you do a search. If I can find a comparable one I will send it you way.
