Hello there! In my experience, once it’s on, it’s on. The back has a really strong adhesive on the back of it. That is why you have to make sure about placement before pressing down. 😅
So glad I came across this video. I’m just about to get started on my master bath in my 30 year old house. We’re not trying to gut everything and start over, just freshen up and clean up. This will be a huge help for my mirrors. Thanks for this great idea!

Thank you. Keep up the great work. Tom
Thank you! The cost point to fix this in the traditional way was my inspiration to finding a cheaper/better solution. Appreciate the feedback and being able to relate to this fix!
Thanks Tammy! I was about to call a glass company to cut down the mirrors to get rid of the areas that lost the silver. Your method will be cheaper faster and look better! Looks like our local Lowes has the tile in stock.
@@TammysHomeTips I went to Harbor Freight and bought a Pittsburgh 10inch Heavy Duty End Nipper #38496 $9.99. It does a fast neat cutting of the stainless steel pieces to finish the corners. It makes it so easy to trim the pieces to get them to fit. Much easier than an angle grinder or hack saw.
Love this idea! I may use this but instead of a single row I might cut them so that there are two rows to give a little more framing structure/aesthetic.
Great idea! I'm wondering if it would work for my two door mirrored medicine cabinet. It has no frame, clips, or pulls. Hence we open it by grasping the bottom edge. And of course over time those place at the bottom edges oxydize and blacken. Each spot is an inch or so long. Obviously I could do this - placing tile strips to stop at center edge of each door. But am wondering if the strips themselves would then oxydize in same places (since there are no pulls). Previously I had thought of framing it all somehow. Don't want to replace cabinet, and it doesn't look like replacing the glass is possible.....
You could buy one tile, cut a strip off and see how the placement would be before removing the backing and adhering it to the medicine cabinet. Each tile costs about $11 so it is an affordable experiment at least 🙃
Okay, so, I did a little investigating and if you have a second person to help, you can back the mirror clips out, one at a time, and place the strip behind it before screwing it back in again. You would have to be a lot more careful with this option though.
Thank you for that idea. I am now excited to go look for peel and stick on tiles to put on the mirror. I went yesterday to Michael's and they were going to charge $560 for just the frame pieces to go over. Nah I love your idea the best! But I notice there are clips holding the top of the mirror can I remove that or how do I go around that?
I’m so glad this will help! It depends on if the clips are flat against the mirror or are the type that protrude out. If they protrude out, you might have a second person hold the mirror so you can back the clips out temporarily and you can place the tiles behind it and screw then back in. I have done this in a previous home.
@@TammysHomeTips thank you for your reply! I have the one that pertrudes out. And I noticed on the bottom of the mirror it has a lengthy silver metal all across the mirror as if it is working as a clip but it is flat so hopefully the tile will sit flat over top of it. 🤔
I have watched several of these videos. Another person used an extra adhesive for longer, stronger hold. Do you think that is necessary? It’s in the humid bathroom and I’m also planning to go with 3 strips, all the way around. You definitely make it look easy. What are your thoughts on the extra adhesive? TFS!
These definitely do not need extra adhesive. In fact, make sure you lay it out first before you remove the adhesive because it’s a permanent solution. Wishing you success on your project!! 🙂

Great question! I should have shown that more clearly. The backing is a black soft foam-like layer that has the adhesive on it. When you cut the strips apart, there might be small pieces of the foam-like backing that didn’t cut smoothly. It’s best to pull those little pieces off before adhering it to the mirror. If they are the flat metal clips you can go right over them but the larger clear plastic ones you can loosen one at a time and slip that one piece behind it then tighten it again before you move on to the next one. Hi Kim! Hope you are doing well! 💐
Frame? What frame? I’d have put 2 or 3 layers for the frame to really bring out the beauty of the whole mirror and not just a Bandaid fix with a teeny strip
That is absolutely an option as well. Glad this video inspired you. Thank you for sharing your viewpoint. 🙂
I liked what you did but I just wish you were able to zoom in some more on what you were doing. In other words, I think the videography needs improvement.
Thank you for the feedback. I dropped the ball on that. You can use the edge of the mirror as a guide for placement and even practice how you will place it before removing the backing. Thank you for sharing your constructive criticism 🙏🏼
Poor audio and poor video; I could barely tell what sshe was doing.
You are very correct. It was my first endeavor and I’m working on improving. I have a lot to learn still. Never thought so many people would see this video. Just glad it has helped people fix their mirror dilemma with some ideas and a little imagination 🤪🙏🏼 Appreciate your feedback though. I will keep working on it.
@@TammysHomeTips I'm sure you will iron out the problems. Thanks for responding to my comment. So many don't.
Thank you 🙏🏼 Appreciate you ❤️
My mirror has the mirror clips. How would I work around the clips?
If they are the flat metal clips you can go right over them but the larger clear plastic ones you can loosen one at a time and slip that one piece behind it then tighten it again before you move on to the next one. Just be sure not to over tighten the clip so you don’t crack the mirror. I have done this several times without issues.
