That's a multiverse bending cope hoooly. Explain to me how does cancellation of true sight or a straight up downgrade in terms of exchanging battle pass for the shit we have now is ,,making the game better''. The only, and i mean ONLY good change that has been done in last 3 years is the facets, and even them have been done extremely unevenly, with some being laughably bad and other ridiculously strong. I don't know if you're trying to fool others or yourself, but Valve abandoned ship, deal with it.
@@remorselesswinter4214 holy hate. You do realize it is literally impossible to make every facet on the same level? As like any moba strategy game there's good ones and bad ones. Even so there has been many other updates to keep the game fresh. I used to have this attitude, but it’s actually very bad for your mental well being. When I used to be obsessed with dota, nothing else was interesting to me, and other games felt so boring. Now that I’m not obsessed anymore I can enjoy my life and have fun playing games that aren’t as stimulating.
League also has better new player experience solely because of the fact that there is -better mmr distribution resulting in better match making - less smurfs This is the one sole factor that determines wheather new players actually stick to this game and League actually matches up their new players with new players instead of other players with 1k hours already which will hate you for being in their team and even when you get someone with lesser hours or a new account, the chances of them being a smurf is higher than the chances of them being a new player in Dota 2 sadly
@@xazarl3381 more fun, yes if you are low IQ and can't do more than one thing for thousands of hours, if repetitive is considered fun then I envy you. Same bs every game is not fun for me.
@@bovineavenger734 Mate all dota2 players can do is talk like there game is hard its not hard its difficult to start once your passed that its easier than league. Laning phase in dota 2 vs league is laughable at how much harder league is put gameplay side by side i would laugh my ass off.
Fall off ?? Yes. But not populer to the point of dying ?? Its not, i don't think it Will ever dying Dota reach 600k-700k right now. ITS literally top 5 steam game all of time. Apex only reach 200k-450k people never say ITS dying.
As a 4000hr+ Dota2 player i can say on behalf of my fellow players we do not care about popularity, we log in load up the game and hope for a competent team on both sides. that way we all can have fun in a challenging match, loss or win once both teams played well, we enjoy the experience.
The problem is that all of you will grow older, and you will have your adult problems. and there will be no new generation of players to continue playing. As time passes, the number of players will eventually decline.
you do realize that popularity (aka userbase of variable skill) is a prerequisite for just that, a composite and balanced team, drawn from a big pool of players? dota2 is chock full of scripters, hackers, boosters, smurfers and it made me quit years ago and it's only become worse from what I've read and seen.
After putting tons of hours into both games I really do just think League has the gameplay that most people will enjoy. Its mostly fast paced, revolves mostly around outplay mechanics and singular skill (at least compared to dota) and is much easier to learn and get into. everything about it caters much more to a casual audience while still having something for hardcore players to like. DotA is much more strategy and team oriented as well as way more complex. ive played DotA for around 2k hours and I still have no idea what im doing half the time because theres just so much to do and learn. In league you just wack your opponent and your lane creeps and sometimes gank but for dota you are doing 20 different small things trying to gain every small advantage possible. Most people don't have the patience or willingness to do all that. SImply put if you grab a random person and told them they had to pick either League or Dota, most people will pick league simply because its easier to pick up and learn and allows individual skill to shine more.
It's more casual, yeah, same reason ARMA will never have the number of players of CSGO which will never meet the numbers of Freefire which will never equal Minecraft. The easier and more dumbed down games will always have more players, since they are scrapping the bottom.
You just described what changed over the years. Gamers today are too simple minded and avoid anything a bit complex. Almost all gamers I know that is around my age or older that have tried both for a while hate lol (although may have preferred it initially until they got deeper into dota) and the younger people are compared to me, more and more of them can’t get into dota at all because it’s too hard or complex. I have tried lol for a few weeks every couple years since it came out, and I can never get into it. And it was basically the exact same game as before with the exception of a couple imbalances heroes that are behind a paywall
You say dota has too much nuances then say league is better and shows more individual skills expression, makes no sense. Being able to control lane equilibrium, deny creeps, block camps, pull waves, make clean rotations farm the map efficiently, stack camps, secure mid lanes rune, while mastering your hero, this is individual skill expression. Not I press these buttons and use my flash u go brrrr
@@bovineavenger734 Scraping the bottom kinda feels like a negative way to put it. Games that are more casual simply attract a wider audience because the barrier to entry is smaller. MOBAs in general will always have more players than, say, RTS games because they're so much easier to get into and learn (despite being so similar). They're all great games, it's just a matter of which ones have a bigger barrier to entry or not.
@@adamhero459 I agree on this and it is not only for MOBA and it applies to a lot of games nowadays. Games nowadays are kinda dumb down to the point it's easy to play with or put some paywall/microtransactions to make it easier. Also if you watch some game reviews of some huge streamers and some critics, they are kinda at fault with this because they got massive support from their viewers. Then they review a game trying to fix a certain aspect of the game which is not game breaking, it's just little nuance to make it difficult. Devs will just adjust with these people to avoid the loss of their player base. Calling them out "Get good at the game or skill issue" makes them mad and make a lot of BS excuse, they can't accept that they are just bad playing the game. lol
I will say this about dota tho...no other game in my life has given me adrenaline rushes like I get with certain moments playing dota...your heart pumping and your body getting warmer and your mind 100 percent focused on the moment maybe even shaking a lil bit...I cant find a replacement for that feeling...thats probly why this game is so addictive
I agree, theres nothing like making a comeback after 60+ mins into the game or winning a 4x5. Sure League also may have moments like this but on Dota its much more intense of a rush.
If you play FPS games then I suggest trying R6. Its also a knowledge check game and the highs you get from the game is almost there to what the highs Dota can give you.
Yeah this is kinda my problem with league. Everything good or strong gets nerfed down and even when you are completely owning it doesn’t feel that satisfying. There is no build or champion that will ever result in the insane damage levels you can get in dota 2 on a fed pa/lina/clinx etc. That feeling is what lets me tolerate the insane levels of toxicity in dota 2 hahaha
@@ML-eq4rx there’s a lot of calculation things to do in Dota, compare to league. In league if you try to fail one time or mid way continuously til the late parts of the game, in the next clash it can be easier to do a rebound with the exact right moments. The phasing is really quick. In Dota 2 however, one mistake alone can become fatal and it’s hard to watch and wait every time a failure follows up from the next you try to get that rebound while the enemy team will do the same. And with the game’s physics and many possibilities you can try to implement, I can guaranteed you it can go more harder and more complex the way it is than the possible ways you can try to kill a hero/champ and win the game. And losing is more stressful while the desperate one tries to comeback to try the game once more.
@@Tullex2Don't try to act dumb bro, we all love dota, but just search for a match in both games and you will see. I'm pretty sure at least 6 out of the 10 players in a dota match are going to be +25 year olds, while LoL has a bunch of teenagers playing it, with Arcane increasing it even more.
They really don't, steam is the best gaming platform by default, if you want to game, you will end up arriving at the steam landing page, and this is their main source of profits, they don't care about marketing their games cuz they make them for passion, not for profit
Yes and No. As Blitz mentionned they're the first industry to introduce battle pass. Now look how far it has gone and how other online games are using it to milk their own players. Valve has always that free to play and balance philosophy . A newcomer with 100 hours will be as same as a guy xith 20k+ hours. Same as a guy who spent 5$ and a guy who spent 100k. On top of that , the high amount of prizepool is a poisoned gift. Pro players will just ensure their slot for TI and try to win then retire. Look at OG after they won 2 TI. They became the richest guys in esport industry. It is good for the player but bad for valve . Plus it promotes unsortsmanship like matchfix ,bets... Whats really unfortunate is how they managed the pro scene . We've got a lot of legendary superstars. And valve just let them retired. They are one of the reason why people are watching pro games. Not having D2 tournaments is not helping in order to promote or to find new pro players.
Its not a loss, its a smaller win, for everyone. My spectre arcana was locked behind a pay/play wall that was 59hours and 100 bucks worth. This year? I bought myself a venge arcana and gifted my brother sky arcana at a reasonable price with the coins. I bought all the expansions, played every mini game. Spent hours on nest of thorns. Days more just scratching my head trying to figure out the new patch that came every month. Guys, this is what dota is about. Quality. Quality of the game, not the name.
thats why they remove bp, but people just dont see the complete atmosphere... crownfall is a bp for the whole year not just seasonal for ti like before. That makes the game more enjoyable like you said. Good narrative in comics, 2 new heroes, The recent ban for almost 70k smurf accounts
"Battlepass is such christmas that we as player always wait for, to comeback into dota & spend our money" spoiler, IT IS NOT atleast judging from steamdb & steamcharts, there were NO ACTUAL INCREASED on active player number during the early days/weeks of Battlepass release even the biggest ever BP, which was 2020 BP (the golden one) that literally HAPPENING DURING PANDEMIC, when we lock ourself at home, when we have nothing to do except playing this cursed game the numbers didnt even had a significant increase, not even a spike but when the new map design came around, when the facets & Crownfall Act II came, we suddenly got the spikes and more ironically, the average daily active player in 2023 is still bigger than the 2020, even tho again, there were pandemic, there were biggest BP we ever had. i'm sorry to ruin your expectation but sometimes, lifes works in a very mysterious way it is what it is, guys 🙃
how would dota be more popular than league when dota is a literal nightmare for new players because of the amount of mechanics it has compared to LOL, league is literally so easy compared to dota of course most people would generally lean over league while dota is full of veteran players, popular doesnt really mean better game anyway, i'd rather play chess over checkers
i dont know it was pretty easy for me to get into and very enjoyable i really liked the challenge of being absolute shit and every kill felt so deserved and learning new items and combos was just cery rewarding and fun
That's a complete lie. Dota has a comprehensive tutorial teaching you everything from creep denying to projectile disjointing. League just throws you into a match
League is harder by default because there are more bugs there not shown in the tutorials and skins spiking the fps or even breaking the game. Dota is only hard for beginners if you don't do the tutorial. The tutorial is so comprehensive that you only need to master your chosen hero and get used to other heroes to be better at the game. TL;DR LoL is sphagetti code and will bite you in the butt one way or the othwr
League has always been easier than dota but it hasnt always been this much more popular than dota. In reality riot has better marketing, thats the main reason. There is never a point were dota comes up in mainstream conversation/meme culture. Also i think the bigger issue with dota is that it is horribly toxic, not only is it overwhelming to be a new player ur also gonna get spam reported and flamed for playing poorley. Dota 2 has the most toxic community out of any game i have played.
I would say that dota also had much harder time appealing to younger audiences. Riot has been updating league in a way that speeds up the game to appeal to teenagers and kids who cannot focus for more than half a minute for years now. Over time all of the abilities cooldowns has decreased, the average game time has decreased, eveyr new hero released has much mroe mobility than the older ones. Generally the game is faster. Dota 2 is still very loyal to the theme that dota all stars had. Very macro heavy game where good calls matter much more than micro skills. And because of that I love dota 2 and basically stopped playing league. However I can see how younger audiences may not like it.
Valve has infinite steam money so now games are just their passion projects, once they burn out they just move on to other things, unlike Riot which needs to keep marketing and updating League to stay afloat. After 2016, with games like Overwatch coming out it was over for Mobas, never saw anyone else playing Dota again. League was also trending downward in popularity but they got a lot of new players with good marketing like KDA songs, cosplayable skins and Arcane.
Current Dota 2 looks like a niche old man game now, 2012 Dota was daring in how it embraced the toxicity and grassroots nature of the game into its aesthetics, with cool and fucked up characters cursing and roasting each other be enemies or teammates... but time moved on and Dota just never even attempted to adapt to what's cool or trendy now, only with an Arcana every now and then, while League completely overhauled the game and most champions visually and started releasing spinoff universes like KDA to spread their reach.
xD The level of cope you guys are projecting is actually just denying reality. ,,Oh yeah, valve just left dota because they were bored, and they have infinite money so they dont have to care'' Valve is valued at 13 Billion dollars. Which is a lot, sure, more than the 4 Billions of Riot games. But, there's this funny thing, you know, Riot is owned by Tencent, a chinese demigod megacompany with a net worth of uhhh... ah yes half a trillion US dollars. THEY have infinite money. Also, you act like Valve did nothing to help Dota and they just let it die. That's also not true. They made Dragons Blood, they actually tried to keep dota afloat as well, it just didn't work. And when it didn't work, they gave up. They abandoned ship, not because they ,,burned out'', because they literally tried to save it and they couldn't. THAT's the difference between Riot and Valve. Riot pulled their game out of the moba depression, valve did not. Oh and another thing, you saying that Riot has to update League to stay afloat because they have nothing else is actually insane to say. They beat Valve in mobas, they now contest their ,,golden son'' CS through valorant, and they're making a MMO. Valve is just a worse, less passionate game studio, straight up. Stop playing valve apologists.
@@citizen4610 My point in question, we're even talking like old people now lol. And no I'm not talking about gay shit, I'm talking about League's music videos, popular new characters and spinoffs/crossovers, meanwhile dota 2 gets a generic bird with a sword, Valve completely gave up on getting new players.
Listen i uninstalled dota last week not because i was bored but because i needed some rest for mental health and shit, but ik goin back in a couple of weeks
The thing is, Riot spend A LOT of money on advertisement while Valve have close to none at all while still holding 2nd place. That is saying something.
Wasn't valve spending money on dragon's blood too? Lets be honest though valve ain't getting considerable new players now. They even recognize it by investing more on deadlock development instead
@dbtayam7647 Dragon's bBlood and..? Compared to Riot its pennies. Dota doesn't get many new players because of lack of advertisement and high skill floor. And Valve started expanding on Deadlovk because Dota is self sustainable game that requires minimum maintenance.
It's in 2nd place because realistically there is no competition in the MOBA genre, please name me 3 more other MOBA currently other than LoL and Dota...
I like grandma's house. I like the times I've spent there. I like the community there. I like the smells. I like the fact that I brought my then-girlfriend there when we met, my wife there with me when we got married, and there again soon when we reveal the baby bump. Sure I'm appreciating it more now that I'm older, but while she's here, I'm going to relish every second I have with her, because a tiny little part of me is scared that she's not going to last forever. And though the house has shrunk a bit, the fire a little less bright than in my youth, I'm still going to invite as many people as I can to her place, because though it may not be fancy, I really do love grandma's place.
“The burning fire they once had get smaller and smaller as time goes on” This is the part that hurts the most :( realizing that the passion and excitement that kept me coming back to the game year after year has been slowly dying and is now a shell of its former self. Even if the crownfall update is awesome and a really neat change of pace the gameplay updates are coming less and less frequently and it just seems like they no longer care to continue to push the game towards a unique and bright future 😔
Seriously, back when I was in high school, I used to save up for months to buy levels and it felt good, even on my potato pc. Now that I have a good gaming setup and can play the game at max settings I don't have ANY NEW ITEMS TO BUY COZ VALVE WONT LET ME. sad
To put it simply. Valve management did not care enough.......... They try just not enough. They were the greatest to the point they changed the whole game industry with the battlepass
Sure there are less players... but Reddit is not representative of the community. It's just full of crybabies, I don't count their opinion on any topic. I mean, they removed FOMO and you only get the reddit Stockholm syndrome users complaining. Higher Popularity does not mean a better game (I'm not saying in comparison with LOL, just saying that higher numbers does not mean the quality of the game is better) The later updates have being a GREAT addition (Facets/Passives/New Map) The new battlepass is way better. The number of people playing is still huge. I don't care about "spinoff" games or media... It's great when you have a hit, but it can only maybe get new players to try it for a while, but will change nothing on wether they like the game or not. I'm just talking about dota changes. I don't play LOL but it's good to see others still enjoying it!
Honestly I disagree with the importance you put on the battle pass. New players don't start playing a game because of that. Dota has been suffering because there hasn't been an influx of new players to make up for the old ones who stopped playing (me). There are other issues, including how complex the game is. It has one of the steepest learning curve's and while that's fantastic and one of my favourite parts of the game, it is a massive barrier to playerbase growth.
Its more ancient Egypt because its very complex, also i heard that ice frog is an Egyptian hes name is Abdallah Ismail, there are a ton of items that have Egyptian names, Aghanim, kaya, sange, yasha.. etcc ALSO ROSHAN is a female name im guessing that he put his ex as monster in the game XDD
It's quite simple actually, most of dota's player base in it's prime was guys over 20 who came from first dota, we're all older now and have things to do besides playing dota every day. League is just much more appealing to the younger generation than Dota is in it's current state.
They should just bring back the battlepass there nothing wrong with saying "sorry, we we're wrong, let's bring back the battle pass for you guys"! dota playtime go stonks
I am sorry, no. I play dota all year now when I only overdidso around the battlepass before. Crownfall has been amazing, the battlepass was just fomo and I am glad it is buried. I hope the entire industry follows through.
- Walks on to the edge of the pit, steals last hit on baron. - Blinks in to the pit, steals last hit, picks up aegis, gets out with aegis intact. Same play, difference in required execution...
Lmao this is such a over simplification. I played on GM in League and I can say both games are hard. Any non ranked immortal will be stuck in d4 for a long time
@@Arkantos1900 It is very much the same as comparing pc to consoles, one has a lot of variables that can and will change per person, and the other will always have the most even of a playground. So the real question being, is a game or in the case of my example the platform easier, because there are lots of complex systems to learn and never quite master, or mechanics being easy to pick ip and actually masterable. One presents the question in a way where if i know more and better than you i will most likely always win (or have better hardware), and the other more about facing your opponents without extra friction from the game.
@@Arkantos1900 Pro players have jumped from DOTA to League easy, but we haven't seen the opposite happen, it's like comparing Counter Strike to PVP Minecraft.
Ive quit both games a good while ago, but here are my takes: -Ive joined League in 2014, and for the first few years up until like...2018-2019, i was having fun. It had many gamemodes, cool champion designs, and even tho i wasnt competitive, i did try my best to win every game i could. I used to make lot of friends in the games, and sometimes we all went into a ranked match out of pure craziness. My downfall started around the time the items got reworked, and Samira came out. I just couldnt care less of the games anymore, i had trouble with the new items for a while, and most of my friends left the game. When i got to university in 2021, my first semester was horrible, and i needed to study more, thats when i started to ask why i was playing the game. The gamemodes werent interesting anymore, the champion designs got terrible (seriously, wall of texts for abilities, expensive af skins, etc), and i just wanted to win, but not in a game that was over 30 minutes or so. In fact, i only played ARAM for most of my time, until i quit. And as far as i know, League will get rid of free hextech chests after good games, which definitely will strike the playerbase intensely. -I got to know Dota 2 around 2015-2016, not so long after League, and at first, even with good tutorials, i was bad at the game. Heck, somehow i got a permanent mute on my character. Imagine playing a game for months without any way to chat with others. But ive found Dota 2 to be more complex, more strategic, and less snowballing, though, the grafics and hero designs were worse than Lol. Even if your side is losing, you can buy items that would shut down the strongest opponent, which mostly have an active effect (in Dota 2, most items have active effects). Also, you can try many mods with friends, and one that stood out for me was Ability Draft, where you could pick from a roster of abilities to create your hero, who could be really op at times (like 100% cd reduction, or all passive skills). The reason why ive quit Dota 2 was simply that i could never truly grasp the gameplay. I didnt know how to juke opponents, how to efficiently place wards, how to build the characters. I wasnt spending much time on these, probably because i enjoyed anything but the regular game mode, and in the end, i abandoned the game like Lol.
Riot is the company that will continue to press on and valve is nice and cozy grandma's house - a great metaphor for "those who pursue greatness vs those who are already great and content"
@@andrewgreeb916Neither does Riot, when stuff like Pentakill and Arcane were essentially pet projects that Riot decided they wanted to fund fully, so much so that Pentakill has had 3 albums and Arcane is one of the most popular and best animated shows ever made which will be expanded to 3 other regions. Rioters definitely care about what they make, not to mention that they don't have a lot of crunch time and have a good amount of paid days off as well, not to mention good salaries.
Valve doesn't need to pay advertisements for theur games while Rito spends like 80% of their budget on advertisements. Dota 2 is fine with the players right now and would last longer than LoL. They're playing the long game. That's just how Valve works.
the problem i see about dota 2's stagnating growth is that newer and younger audience don't want to spend 300 hrs just to know the basic mechanics of dota 2 while in lol you become decent in 300 hrs in dota it takes about 1500 hrs just to be decent at the game.
The amount of copium is the comments saying lol is more popular because its easier. Lol has always been easier but its never been this far ahead of dota. Face it vavle doesn't care, the last 3 TIs have been underwhelming due to bad metas and low prize pools. And vavle does not care about branching out into the mainstream and they dont promote the game. the main thing that prevents new players from playing this game is not that the game is hard, its because it has the most toxic gatekeeping community i have ever experienced. There are plenty of hard games that are massivly mainstream, example being Chess, ppl can play hard games. But the reality is that toxicity is normalized and when ur a new player ur gonna get flamed and reported constantly, and valve doesnt care. Theres a reason Grubby quit and yall cant accept it.
as much as I love playing Dota 2, this game has becoming the one that is left with full of memories, I kept playing it as if its one of my routine, opening it thinking of playing atleast 1 game but not able to, I switch my main game to monster hunter as I kept looking for games to play and spend my time as much as I spend in Dota 2 (21k hours), I might just require friends to play the game or I am just tired.
No their statistics are measured different (monthly users vs concurrent users) which means if you have 10 accounts they all count. I know someone who has a little under 15 accounts and yes he uses them and yes he is a loser
I feel like around 2017-2018 is when League really gain huge leap and crossing dota's popularity with lot of rework, increasing QoL, and expanding their IP through other form of medium like music with their Pentakill, KDA, and other stuff
Believe it or not but from 2011 to 2013 Dota 2 was seen as the trendy game to play, not just for moba players but gaming in general, while League was struggling to retain its playerbase. But after 2014 it was over, Valve stopped giving a fuck about games, League started overhauling their visuals, promoting the game (valve barely released any videos) and people also moved onto newer games like Overwatch.
As a league player trying to learn Dota, I literally just spent the last 2 hours watching my first Dota 2 pro games (TI 2024) and the viewing interface feels much less streamlined and optimized for viewing than league. You can't see all heroes items, level, kda at a quick glance, only when the caster click on a specific hero, and other relevant stats like gold difference, tower number, important objectives, last hit, etc are not shown or extremely hard to see. Also in league the champion portraits from each team are arranged from top to bottom depending on their roles (top-jungle-mid-carry-sp) and it's consistent every game, so even if you don't know the champ, you at least know what their role in the game is and who they are facing. For dota, the arrangement seems completely random and I have to spend minutes each game trying to figure out what heroes go where, and I already watched a dozen of dota guides. Also the when the screen switches from one place to another, it's helpful to see the box on the mini map indicating where the camera currently is showing, especially when you are not familiar with the map, which Dota somehow doesn't have. I feel like spectating intuition is very important for new players trying to get into the game because that's how I got into league in the first place 12 years ago, from seeing a league tournament on youtube which had better spectating UI than dota 2 in 2024.
Lol may be more popular, but it's due to the fact that they appealed to the gay and female side, you can see that by the skins they release, characters and lore all super woke. If that means Dota is less popular I'll take it
The moba genre continually fumbles seasonal updates to the extent that it’s genuinely shocking to hear that these games had revolutionary update schedules back in the day.
This is how R6 feels like compared to Valorant and CS. R6 is like Dota 2 in a sense that the gadget and operator synergies are superb and both require you to have insane amount of knowledge to rise up against the competition. Both are knowledge checks that have a high skill floor but very rewarding when you get good in the game.
And guess what? They are still not that profitable for being popular. They now resort to allow betting site to sponsor their teams while Valve try to ban betting site or any sponsor in their tournament event.
The moment team OG got the back to back aegis which every pro dota player or champions is aiming for, the magic is gone, most of us root for a 3peat for OG but it didn't happen and after that i stop watching TI, i guess most of the community grow together with the game were all adults now and busy with our own lives, ti for us is an event once a year we came back to watch every year and back to our regular days after the event.
I really don't understand why Valve decided to focus less on Dota. The battlepass made millions for them, and TI was the biggest Esports event in the world.
League of Legends prioritizes smooth, fast-paced gameplay with unique, mechanically expressive champions, making micro-play and skirmishing a core focus. In contrast, Dota 2 plays more like a strategy game, where each hero is a chess piece, and macro-level decision-making, resource management, and positioning are more important than pure mechanics. While both games share MOBA elements, League thrives on fluidity and individual skill, whereas Dota emphasizes strategic depth and adaptability.
I think it's important to note that the hype for League generally has died down alot, atleast for the game. The IP is gaining popularity for sure due to things like Arcane and RIOT is branching out their playerbase with games like Valorant. But league as a standalone game is hemorrhaging players in the west particularly. Especially NA and EU. This is somewhat offset by gains in China though. The landscape for League of Legends has changed alot. Most people have moved on from being players of the game to being watchers instead. As most have gotten older people are partaking in the community by watching the E-sport scene, Arcane or Streamers more so than actually playing the game itself. League is kinda struggling with recruiting new and young players outside of China and Korea. This obviously isn't a problem isolated to League, but literally happens to all game IPs as time takes its toll. 5-10 years ago every kid played League. Nowadays they play other games and genres, mainly FPS or Battleroyale games.
What makes me play dota more is actually the items that you use to counter the hero's skills, Blademail is an example, when i played LOL, the items would just boost the hero's states, but after watching this, im thinking of returning to LOL cause ngl i didnt give it enough chance, in terms of "in-game" visuals, i enjoy Dota's more
They have made it clear long ago that even they share the same essence of moba but they are completely two different game and yet here we are arguing on which one is better 🎉🎉😮
it's really sad that the only defense mechanisms these dota players have to those who quit the game. "gOoD bYe LoW iQ, gOoDbYe hErALd, gOoD riDdAnCe" ya'll so offended of people making choices like leaving the game. Just proving this videos point. Dota is cooked.

League also has better new player experience solely because of the fact that there is
-better mmr distribution resulting in better match making
- less smurfs
This is the one sole factor that determines wheather new players actually stick to this game and League actually matches up their new players with new players instead of other players with 1k hours already which will hate you for being in their team and even when you get someone with lesser hours or a new account, the chances of them being a smurf is higher than the chances of them being a new player in Dota 2 sadly

As a 4000hr+ Dota2 player i can say on behalf of my fellow players we do not care about popularity, we log in load up the game and hope for a competent team on both sides. that way we all can have fun in a challenging match, loss or win once both teams played well, we enjoy the experience.
it sucks if your enemy is sh1t at playing.
The problem is that all of you will grow older, and you will have your adult problems. and there will be no new generation of players to continue playing. As time passes, the number of players will eventually decline.
you do realize that popularity (aka userbase of variable skill) is a prerequisite for just that, a composite and balanced team, drawn from a big pool of players? dota2 is chock full of scripters, hackers, boosters, smurfers and it made me quit years ago and it's only become worse from what I've read and seen.
sames
masive cope.
Calling them out "Get good at the game or skill issue" makes them mad and make a lot of BS excuse, they can't accept that they are just bad playing the game. lol

Don't want to say it but Valve really need to hire a marketing team.
They really don't, steam is the best gaming platform by default, if you want to game, you will end up arriving at the steam landing page, and this is their main source of profits, they don't care about marketing their games cuz they make them for passion, not for profit
they would if they cared
Valve never promote anything they do not just dota , they let the games they produce speak for themselves
enforcing woke politics on dota would be sad tho

Both game are good on their own way, its just the player are just insecure
League has always been easier than dota but it hasnt always been this much more popular than dota. In reality riot has better marketing, thats the main reason. There is never a point were dota comes up in mainstream conversation/meme culture. Also i think the bigger issue with dota is that it is horribly toxic, not only is it overwhelming to be a new player ur also gonna get spam reported and flamed for playing poorley. Dota 2 has the most toxic community out of any game i have played.
I watched Arcane in Netflix and it was so good. Then I played Dota 2 after..
Lmao how did you get there
lol same
😂 EXACTLY WHAT I did
SAME
I would say that dota also had much harder time appealing to younger audiences.

@SeaHorseOfTH-cam if what's cool and trendy nowadays is DEI slop, then I want none of that in dota
xD The level of cope you guys are projecting is actually just denying reality. ,,Oh yeah, valve just left dota because they were bored, and they have infinite money so they dont have to care'' Valve is valued at 13 Billion dollars.
Well by pure statistics MLBB is overtaking Dota as #2
The only "advertising" league does is through their music and animations, which fans really enjoy and can help get new players into the game.

This is the part that hurts the most :( realizing that the passion and excitement that kept me coming back to the game year after year has been slowly dying and is now a shell of its former self.
Also the availability of Games through Phones.

It's quite simple actually, most of dota's player base in it's prime was guys over 20 who came from first dota, we're all older now and have things to do besides playing dota every day. League is just much more appealing to the younger generation than Dota is in it's current state.

@@Arkantos1900 Pro players have jumped from DOTA to League easy, but we haven't seen the opposite happen, it's like comparing Counter Strike to PVP Minecraft.
Ive quit both games a good while ago, but here are my takes:
-Ive joined League in 2014, and for the first few years up until like...2018-2019, i was having fun.
Valve doesn't force their employees to work on anything, so some things get abandoned for the new stuff.
"Most thrilling exciting and downriight nail-biting grand finals ever recorded"
Several Dota 2 TI grand finals begs to differ.
Valve doesn't need to pay advertisements for theur games while Rito spends like 80% of their budget on advertisements. Dota 2 is fine with the players right now and would last longer than LoL. They're playing the long game. That's just how Valve works.
I'd say valorant and arcane is the one getting advertisement not league itself. Also, both games are going down hill specially dota 2
the problem i see about dota 2's stagnating growth is that newer and younger audience don't want to spend 300 hrs just to know the basic mechanics of dota 2 while in lol you become decent in 300 hrs in dota it takes about 1500 hrs just to be decent at the game.
my all time best days was watching blitz streams and laughing my ass off... i hope where ever you are youre happy blitz, much love brother.
Theres a reason Grubby quit and yall cant accept it.
as much as I love playing Dota 2, this game has becoming the one that is left with full of memories, I kept playing it as if its one of my routine, opening it thinking of playing atleast 1 game but not able to, I switch my main game to monster hunter as I kept looking for games to play and spend my time as much as I spend in Dota 2 (21k hours), I might just require friends to play the game or I am just tired.
wasnt LoL always 10 times more popular?
No their statistics are measured different (monthly users vs concurrent users) which means if you have 10 accounts they all count. I know someone who has a little under 15 accounts and yes he uses them and yes he is a loser
not at Dota 2 release, but quickly after and onwards yes
@@SeaHorseOfTH-cam didnt really realizied it, playing Dota since 2024 for 15k hours now xD
I’ve tried League multiple times in my life, and never could enjoy it. Dota, has had me interested for over 12 years.
I think dota is the best it's ever been honestly.
That last line hit hard, Dota is like home for sure
League is where new players in the MOBA category are welcome. Dota 2 however, is not beginner-friendly and it's no place for idiots.
Sure felt different when I started.
League was not accommodating in the skightest
So true
Bruh you cannot tell me the Russian dude screaming dog and slurs in the voice chat is not an idiot. Please both games suffer from this psh
Not really : P league is definitely not friendly to beginners. And the game does no real good in trying to make it better for them.
as dota player, we dont care popularity, we just keep playing
stream when :(
One day
@ ambatucry 😢
Dota 2 will always be one of the best online games ever created, in terms of quality, cretivity, and innovation. That's enough for me.
But you can watch it from dota interface and check everything 😊
6:56 until season 2.
because league is baby dota for baby brains, and the truth is the bell curve is real and 98% of the population has baby brains so they prefer league
: P you’re trying to be superior for essentially liking a different toy than someone else and you should probably stop
2 Videos in span of a week, i must be dreamin
Every second video of yours is shit talking the game you play the most i dont get it
Lol may be more popular, but it's due to the fact that they appealed to the gay and female side, you can see that by the skins they release, characters and lore all super woke. If that means Dota is less popular I'll take it
Lol copium
Real
Bro, touch grass, you've spent too much time on the internet.
The moba genre continually fumbles seasonal updates to the extent that it’s genuinely shocking to hear that these games had revolutionary update schedules back in the day.
Because LoL is easier to learn and play, that's what these young incompetent gamers look for
love your work for dota man, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Love from Brazil
dota 2 would be amazing If valve cared just cared 10% of riot cared about league
Bro i guess im a hater but that play at 1:02 was so .... eh.. lame lol.
Yeah this dude has never seen player stealen Roshan from other people there a 3000 clip better then that one in Dota 2 😅
For real there are a 3000 clip better then tat one
@jahdielpinero671 word. thats the first thing i thought, rosh steal already more complex than that shot.
Been watching this guy's stuff on and off for many years now but this one really hit different.
I like dota now more than before without big fomo every battle pass.
07:55 400 rerolls got 1 arcana and it was pudge, a hero which you can never pick because he is always banned
Dota's learning curve is just way too high and until valve figures out how to solve that the game will never return to its previous highs.
Damn blitz making vids back to back. Massive W
As a former league player. Dota is the better GAME. League is the better PRODUCT. Plain and simple.
Dota 2 is just chillin tbh. Like a stop-n-go game to those are already in their 30's. My ghad, I'm so old now...
Such a nice and warm video. Thanks for that
You need a peak brain in DOTA .u need to counter the counter in Hero's and Item's!
Hardest game ive ever played to win!
You came up with this cleverly. I didn't even get it at first.
What makes me play dota more is actually the items that you use to counter the hero's skills, Blademail is an example, when i played LOL, the items would just boost the hero's states, but after watching this, im thinking of returning to LOL cause ngl i didnt give it enough chance, in terms of "in-game" visuals, i enjoy Dota's more
Dota 2 is the newer game and yet looks and feels so unbelievably antiquated compared to League
It took the facet system to get over my addiction. Dota is no longer that Game I fell in love with during 2011.
The focused gameplay is what excites me and takes me away from real life
Dota 2 ticking time bomb was SET.......... thanks blitz for recap this whole things at the end of year
If I were to go back 5 years ago I would do it all over again because this game geniunely is the most fun ive had.
