Nice breakdown! I usually tend to avoid reclassing because of some misguided idea of canonical classes and perhaps I should do a run of fe11 on hard four or five so I can really get into the benefits
This is a video I wish I had years ago when I first started FE, knowing when to reclass is one of the bigger decisions I felt like I had to make and a video like this would’ve been amazing haha. And your transitions are so clean, love the attention to detail there…awesome video as usual! (Couldn’t find the Easter egg, I’m a fake fan)
Thank you for the kind feedback! I keep trying to put out informational videos every now and then to help people in their experiences and hopefully the message is good for everyone who watches it!
So I basically wanna use Alear, Anna, Jean, Celine, Chloe and Clanne. Any recommendations as to what’s more efficient for story progression/fun capability?
Chloe is fine in griffon knight, I personally enjoy reclassing her to martial master around the time hortênsia arrive, because you’ll have fliers covered usually with Ivy,Hortênsia and Kagetsu as wyvern. Her spd cap is higher so she can benefit from flashing fists +eirika the most to make a playerphase nuke. Anna, Clanne are all kinda different flavors of the same dish. Clanne is the easiest to get online, but you gotta fix his magic, Anna needs some babying early on, but but has the highest ceiling potential, both like mage knight. Jean can specialize the best in any class you choose but it has to be early and fast. Either full physical or full magical. Sage or general/berserker for those beefy 100% stat growths. He can do fine in griffon knight due to high class growths across the board and access to levin sword. Celine and Alear honestly benefit the most from being in their natural classes. Celine with byleth gives a great magical boost with dance, has enough spd with spd inherent plus the emblem to reach doubling thresholds and can benefit from Thyrsus and all the weapons byleth confers the most IMO because they scale off magic as well. Alear is just too good in divine dragon child witb the dragon bonuses To warrant swapping him out IMO, but I’ve seen success in wolf knight with Roy and such to patch his lower strength. Hope this helps!
I've never understood the fear of having to use Bronze weapons in Fates. Thanks to Smithing Bronze get on par to their upgraded versions, if not having a small might deficiency and better hit rates! Plus, D is just 20 combats away and C is 30 more, so 50 and in those two ranks there's the bulk of the actually useful weapons of the game And materials are not a problem, people just don't trade minerals
I think the issue with bronze weapons, or at least for me to not justify reclassing, is two-fold. First, they don’t proc any skills, so in case you has a unit with that build in mind, it’s kinda counterproductive. Second, the mt is pretty significant to the point that if I’m mid game and trying to one round stuff, I’m not gonna sit there launching that many bad attacks to justify it. I do agree that if it’s done earlier it’s easier to circumvent this issue!
This is the only aspect of Fire Emblem that feels super daunting to me because reclassing has different implications in every game and I often get caught in the details of what level should they be, what skills do I want, which characters do I choose, etc which is so stressful. I plan on trying Engage soon and I feel that this video was super insightful, I like the more straightforward approach of reclassing in that game. I’m going to try having fun with it and not think about it too much.
I never liked reclassing. Like you say it devolves into min max skill builds. It just makes every character almost like every other character instead of being a unique unit with their own strengths and weaknessses.

Cool video, missed the part about how reclassing Lapis is optimal and based though
Directors cut take! Ahahhahaha

When I use Reclass in FEDS it's for class changing but when I use it in Awakening or Fates I do it to grab some useful skills
Pretty cool topic to talk about, great video ^^
Thank you, hopefully it can help people on their runs!

I wish the shadow dragon limited reclassing based on unit type caps came back
Too long, reclassed everyone into Wyvern (and died to ballistas)
