    I like how you put Micaiah in the thumbnail as if anyone in the right mind would ironman Radiant Dawn

      @FireEmbros  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I actually recently streamed an Ironman of Radiant dawn on HM and I gotta say, Micaiah's not as bad as you'd think. The true difficult chapters are the ones with the Crimean Royal guard because the endgame conditions are brutal and those units can get overwhelmed (plus FOW and horses galore).

    While I do not plan on an Ironman run anytime soon, I can remember, as someone who watches Mangs, I still remember when Wolt of all people killed Zephiel.

    Very well informed and high quality vid. Many of the points you made were ones I've learned the hard way one way or another, especially the dancer/thief one. Iron Man runs are my favorite way to play the game, as it tests the limits of your knowledge and strategy

    Great video!
    I feel like more people should try iron mans. Its the most fun I've had with fire emblem. It makes every move so important, and increase the overall tention of the game. It also really increases Immersion which is an underrated factor. It's basically a multiplier for fun. Until you lose... 😅

    I don't restart the full playthrough when my lord dies. I never deliberately fail to save other units and I do my best to avoid dangerous situations, but I just restart the chapter if I lose him. I just don't have the time to replay several chapters over.

      Yeah the "reset the whole run when lord dies" rule is really just to prevent any temptation of using the lord as a sacrificial "reset chapter" button intentionally. But if you can trust yourself to just not abuse that loophole, there's nothing requiring you to follow the rule.

    This is a really good video, speaking as someone who is starting to do ironman and blind ironman runs (I learnt 90% of the lessons here the hard way, but only you can put it into words). These lessons remind me so much of XCOM 2 ironman runs, because the RNG in that game does not care about you.
    Especially on items. I used to not really care about healing items, but on ironmen, I actually overuse them because healer turn economy is too vital to use less than optimally.
    Looking forward to seeing more videos on ironman running. I learnt a lot on valuing and creating units just by playing this way.

    My usual ironan strategy is:
    Map is "kill boss" use warp
    Other maps: panic!

    Some of the things you’ve listed are exactly why I love these games. Setting up a defense or assault in genealogy or thracia, vestaria saga are all so much fun. I haven’t tried an Ironman yet but I do at some point.

    In Sacred Stones ironman , the hardest chapter is chapter 6 , because they have the most fearsome enemy , that fighter with a halberd.

    This video brings up some points on why Berwick Saga is so amazing to ironman.
    -No snowball effect due to staggered turn order
    -Everyone is viable and usable at the same time
    -Lots of amazing weapons and items to use for difficult situations
    -Lord has a Sword that breaks when he would take lethal damage
    -Splitting your army is much more viable

    Super cool video.
    I have found it helpful to always plan around things that impose timers on you in a map.
    Like thieves, burnable villages, or particularly dangerous reinforcements.
    If you can deal with those you can take the rest of the map slow and without splitting up, like you mentioned in the video

    Should have added the check your fail conditions as number1 :D . I don't know how many runs of some people ended because for example elincia died in RD in chapters where you could choose not to deploy her but did or seadalls chapter in engage. It's not always only your mainlord/s dies. But otherwise pretty great tipps

  • @SultanHardin

    Funny how you also lost your Dieck on "The Silver Wolf" I guess that map just kills Diecks. I lost mine there as well. That aside though a tip i'd have is when it comes to crits/procs on the enemies "if it can proc, assume it will". Either do what you can to avoid the crit/proc, or have someone face it that CAN afford it. (ie, an enemy swordmaster with a killing edge, and putting your General or Wyvern Lord in range).

    • @FireEmbros
      @FireEmbros  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh yeah, I always do the famous "if it can happen, it already has"!!!
      Dieck was a calculated decision, but one I had to make at that point instead of risking another unit. He was just the most likely candidate to survive and to complete the job, unfortunately he didn't =/.

    I don’t Ironman three houses because the cast is so small and having played casual mode first I got extremely attached to the blue lions and golden deer. That being said I do have autism so I absolutely hate losing units in preventable deaths. In a similar game, XCOM 2 war of the chosen I got around that by allowing “essential” characters who are prohibited from dying, think like a lord on fire emblem. My essential characters Jane Kelly, Pratol Mox, Dragonova, and the Templar. It’s like Byleth and the three house leaders if you want an analogy. It’s easier when the characters you use are gonna be random anyway vs all preset characters. Plus Jane Kelly did survive the story canonically and became a col. My reasoning I can do this on XCOM 2 and not fire emblem is XCOM it’s extremely easy to replace fallen soldiers, fire emblem now has a set character limit which stops me. Also I only have three houses so I have only one game to go off of.

      @@msutter117 totally cool to NOT Ironman as well. It’s a matter of preference 100%. I’ve heard good things about Xcom, maybe I’ll
      Give it a shot in the future

    • @msutter117
      @msutter117 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@FireEmbros it’s very similar to fire emblem in many ways. If a soldier dies it’s permanent, losing a high rank soldier is costly and takes time to recover from. Fire emblem classic mode inspired how I play XCOM so there’s a neat thing there. But I highly recommend trying it out since XCOM enemy within and XCOM 2 war of the chosen are different in their own ways but they are challenging if you’re not careful.

      Ire is so dangerous in an iron man and it’s really just a coin flip. Extremely powerful and pretty much nobody can survive it. I’m sorry for your loss with Nailah, but very glad you completed it regardless :)!
