“Can You Ever Forgive Me” was nothing short of brilliant and a vehicle that finally showcased her very real acting skills.
She makes it look easy and that’s very commonly seen as frivolous.
Vanessa plays the 'innocent bystander caught up in the madness of the focus character' PERFECTLY every time. I miss Vanessa.

It would be funny if in the end Vanessa's character still won because she got some kind of bonus that totally crushed everything Melissa got.
Or if they subtracted the amount of reparations and fines for all the crimes she was committing and she ended up owing money. Or she didn't get her cart across the line in time (I know she stole the clock).

SNL has five days to prepare episodes. They aren't building an entire supermarket set filled with food. They filmed on location after hours.
EDIT: For the record, this was at PriceRite on Bleecker St. Melissa also filmed at a basketball court for one episode and a movie theater for another. They film these digital shorts in advance so they can film on location since the live show is limited to just a single backdrop set. For spatial issues, they even have to tear down the sets after the sketches are done so they can use the space for a following sketch. For example, the opening monologue is at the same spot that Weekend Update is.
