I can’t believe the scale of emotions I went through. I laughed at her, then rooted for her, then felt sorry for her, then got excited for her. Great performance. They were both brilliant.
it's amazing!
I noticed that he seems like he breaks all the time but he knows how to make it seem like it's part of the act..those subtle chuckles he does at times. I might be wrong lol but just something I noticed on most of his funniest sketches
@@briantafadzwarukanda2412 I noticed that too! It's very subtle and seamless.
@@briantafadzwarukanda2412 I think you’re right as well
@@briantafadzwarukanda2412 people sure love it when actor’s “break character”… now it’s become a thing they will do just for the laughs and recognition. It gets quite annoying when you recognize it for what it is.
I love how she keeps handing him pens! 😂
You hsve to be proactive...lol
Are you drakes girlfriend?? Cause you look just like her!
yeessss it made me laugh every time she handed him one.
Yes
Yesss
This was years of training and talent condensed to six minutes of pure fun. No over-acting. No mugging. Roller-coaster of emotions.
They are hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣
No pete davidson or jimmy fallon you mean?
What's mugging?
When a Comedian can take you on a Carousel of Emotions in ONE skit , you know they are very talented.
The way she says the word "pizza" kills me all on its own 😂😂😂
She says its like pizzzza
Its gr8!!!
actually, she was quite close to the correct italian pron.
Thank you commenting cuz now i have to watch this and will feel really good for free
Piza
As a previous banker, I can attest to this type of delusional insanity. 😂
Mircea Sauciuc tell us more
@@sherylpierson9662 hahaha lmao
This is not insanity. This is legitimate. She legitimately loves eatin pizza
The question he never asked. "How would you propose to pay back this loan?"
tell us
This skit is not only a classic, it is one of their best ones ever.
Pure comedic genius.
100 percent agree. It’s my favorite sketch
I read that she improvised literally like 90% of this skit.
I could imagine that happening
This is what would make SNL relevant again if they did that with every skit. It’s not about the writing it’s about the players
Yeah you could tell. Because it sucked.
She’s amazing... look at all her movies bloopers... 😂
Alex Totheroh you didn’t have to watch it and people don’t care😂
Lol. She puts way more effort to her characters than any other guest I've seen.
absolutely true! love her.
That's so true. She's fun to watch and she makes her characters unique and engaging. Some other hosts out there should take notes.
Melissa McCarthy can make even average writing funny. That's talent.
Muzi Tshabalala yeah, she actually knows her lines and acts them out instead of focusing on a teleprompter.
haha, this is probably not being read off the teleprompter right? I mean i don't think she couldve been reading and at the same time had that comedic timing.
I keep coming back to this sketch because not only is it hilarious, I am just in awe of the brilliant performances of Melissa and Jason, especially knowing much of it was improvised. Such talent. One of my top 10 SNL sketches ever.
Mine too🎉😊
This is my favorite sketch and I watch it at least once a month
Can we just give this man credit for not breaking character while doing a scene with this hilarious woman
yea...he cant even keep up with her ad-libbing.
The universe already gifted him Olivia Wilde, he good.
He laughed like 5 times soooo?
They're the only ones who never break character on snl
He did technically break character when he laughed at 0:26
“May I use your desk and clear your leather accessory items?” 😂🤣
I was already laughing but when she said that, I absolutely lost it 😂
that got me so good! hahahaha
That was the bomb
I died at this line! 😂😂
Barb, this character actually felt real. This is why Melissa is an amazing, and horribly underrated actress. I felt emotional at the end, and happy and excited. No other snl cast member ever did that to me
Who calls her underrated?.. yes she's funny but all of her movies become the same thing after awhile. Ik a lot of people that like her but she becomes over played very quickly. I see a lot of you people saying "this person is underrated" I don't think you even know what that word means
she is a brilliant comedic actress but unfortunately her husband keeps putting her in his god awful movies
I'm guessing you haven't seen much SNL. This isn't anywhere near being the best of SNL.
@@tphillips37this is honestly one of the best SNL skits when it was released
She’s really convincing
Lmao right?! That's the best part🤣🤣
this woman would most definitely have a _pisa buniss_ if it were up to me
Yup!
She improvised most of this too.
acting is a strange artform and I admire those who do it successfully
"Oh, excuse me!"
"That's just a chair. You don't have to say excuse me to a chair.."
Damn I say excuse me to inanimate objects 😂
@@heidicarbaugh7958 same 😂
Omg yessssss, I laughed so hard
I think she makes more money doing movies!!
There was a teacher in my HS, Mrs. Spencer, who said, “Excuse me furniture,” once, and I have been saying it for 50 years.
The way she says pizza... “Peesza!” Lol 😂😂😂
So funny lol
This sketch is actually quite remarkable. McCarthy doesn't appear to be reading any prompter ; it looks like she's mostly winging it. And Sudeikis seems to be in partial improvisation mode as well because he's keeping up very well with her random additions. Very rare to see that on SNL where the skits are most of the time rigorously scripted
Anfubvinch besides no bad language sex kissing nudity gender stuff just plain ol comedy
I wonder if they wrote it together... It would explain the ability to slightly improvise if they both know the exact flow and timing of where the sketch is going, rather than just reading someone else's script.
SNL doesn't use teleprompters. They use cue cards. Yes, they both had a a few slight instances where they seemed to add a little bit off the cuff, but they are in no way winging it. All SNL sketches are scripted. They just happen to be better at not making it obvious that they're reading cards.
Or they just memorized the lines well before performing the sketch
hgb0005 they rehearse as well. plus this sketch was originally written by melissa in 2000 for an audition.
It's simple, Melissa McCarthy is a legend. She cracks me up every time! I bloody love her.
Can we just saying Barb is absolutely adorable? Also, in the end the she scored a pizza. Melissa McCarthy is a treasure.
The amount of improv in this skit makes it seem so much more lifelike, McCarthy and Sudeikis are so incredible
One of the BEST sketches SNL ever did....I just love Melissa - such a wonderful actress!
All of Melissa's characters are kind of sadly sympathetic
Love ya... And her. They sad but funny 😁
Love u TJ! Best channel ever! :)
She played a super abusive women’s basketball coach
All except for Sookie!
@@josweet3715 exactly.
“It is legitimate I legitimately love eating pizza.”
I love how aggressively upset he gets when she’s eating the pizza
I know! It's like he's personally offended by watching her eat pizza.
“ *And I said Barb you luuuuuuuv eating pizza* ”
😂😂😂😂😂
Barb didn't die in stranger things, she went into hiding and started a piza business::))
+Abdullah- Balloon oh my god you took that comment far too seriously
Well, that was a pretty psychotic response..
Luce Nicholls bahahahaha
The Angry Engineer Quite the contrary. In that balloon's endeavour to become human, I'd say it was a huge step.
Barb died a horrible death but she was revived with leftover pizza. She truly is our hero.
Jason and Melissa are so funny together. They have so much chemistry and I find myself doubled over in laughter watching them in these snl sketches.
We are all Barb, deep down
Jesse Bond true. Capriciosa Forever.
Jesse Bond then we all dies, upside down
Jesse Bond *died
Jesse Bond i
Jesse Bond yup
She doesn't seem to play a character, when she goes into the skit, she Becomes the character she's playing! She nails every single scene she is in! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣👍🏼
I love the way she keeps flapping the pizza slice at him.
My god she is AMAZING!! If she was on the SNL cast she'd be the absolute best by far she's really nailing every skit! And Spy was hilarious
+axelle32 Spy was hilarious but Statham stole the show.
+axelle32 She doesn't need cue-cards, which is great.
Yep, and she does not have to read the cue cards!!
Zarkow cause she’s a trained comedic actress and not just a comedian lol
She's too good to be a regular. Unfortunately.
She is a natural. It shows. You can see she is sticking with the sketch plan and like a natural, she will put in small running gags of her own. She's great
“Yeah man, that’s it!” Her comedic timing is just impeccable 😂
The way she says pizza XD
Joshua Graham PEEHSA
That's probly... That's probly like a 2.. 3 day old peetsa peesa....
Peeesa
Why is she so perfect???
Joni Rose she's the Lucille Ball of our time.
Because she commits fully, to every role. That's literally all it takes to be a good performer (instrumental talents aside).
[ed] Will Farrell has the same thing, no matter what they're playing, or how much it fits their sense of humour, they both ignore themselves completely and just DO THE SKETCH.
Shawn Ingram yeah she even had a tv show like her
Please someone tell me, cause im not english.. does she have, like, accent? Which accent is that?
ArtjomAlexandsson southern like accent
Jason and Melissa play two people who are frustrated with each other so damn well. I wish they'd write something like this with them again.
Melissa is adorable! That voice is so calming! Give her the loan already! EAT ALL THE PIZZAS!!!!
-My friends call me “oh no-“ ---on the phone.
- Sure, yeah. Best way to call
She makes things way funnier than they are, hard to imagine who else could sell this idea. She has that Tim Conway kind of energy that just knows how to work the absurdity of the situation.
I wish Melissa McCarthy were a regular SNL cast member! She's so effing funny LOL!
🌟 🙈
McCarthy *_was_* considered to be a cast member some years back! LMAO.
No, she's not
I’d like to see her with a classic cast not the new one
Yes
U wouldn’t want that because if you go through all her sketches they boil down to subtle variations of the same character she plays…so it would get boring after awhile
The way she says “pizza...”
peesah
4:46 - 5:46 Felt like I was watching a play, not a tv sketch. They handled comedy and drama within that minute without breaking or trying to make each other laugh like on eeevery other snl sketch. I’d love to see them acting together in a movie or series, I know I’d watch it right away. Also, I love how Melissa brings her characters alive for a few minutes, I can imagine the life of Barb just hearing her talk, her mannerisms… she is a really great actress.
If only every episode was Melissa McCarthy as the guest star...
Well, she's been on at least twice this season.
Julius Maloney shit are you nuts too bad that they are not able to get the original cast members back on.
Julius Maloney I LOVE your comment and your profile picture!
Julius Maloney how do you get so many likes!!!🤔
haha. I know. She is so funny.
''Do what you love and money will come after'' got me laughing uncontrollably 😂😂😂
me too, after he says what part of it did you read
and she says saw the title and pushed it back
She played heartbreak so perfectly that the audience truly felt bad for her
"May I use your desk and clear your leather accessory items?"
😂
😅😅😅😅😂
I choked and peed when she said that
That slow motion run
Would love to see Sudekis and McCarthy in a movie together.
YESSSS! Like the Tammy movie
Holy crap this woman is an amazing actor
actress cos she's a woman.
@@rockyross7108 How dare you assume this human being's gender.
Yep. That comment was true 4 years ago and now she is an Oscar nominee. I always knew it too. She is F-ing amazing.
“I thought whoa, what a title, and that set it off. So, i just closed it and set it right there on the shelf ”🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
I believe it was "that said it all" at 2:51.
I read it as I heard it
Jazzy Doggo sameeee

That's my favorite line. She kills me there.
I was not familiar with her work before this but she totally won me over with her SNL sketches. You can tell she puts her own spin on them. Incredible charisma. Very funny!!
lets be honest: it´s not your first time watching this.
Kris Art It’s is for me!
@Gabby Diomand 69th
I am 77 and worked in bank lending for 30 years.First time I watched this I lost a contact lens from laughing.Melissa is the absolute best.
I watch it again and again!
my first (:
1:20
I have no clue why, but the way she says "on the phone" cracks me tf up
That was funny as he'll
0:30 I got a good pizza Plan😂😂😂😂
I think the reason it's so funny is that she's moved the descriptive phrase to an incorrect place in the sentence. Melissa says, "My friends call me all the time, they say - on the phone - Barb..." when people normally say, "My friends call me on the phone all the time and say..." She turned "on the phone" into an interjection, which is nonsensical. It isn't a common mistake; I don't think I've ever heard it anywhere else, and it struck me how brilliant and distinctive it was when I first heard it. I'll have to work it into a novel some day. Melissa's the real deal.
“I thought WOAH what a title , so i just closed that book and pushed it right on to the side”😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
she is such a natural comedic actress. she makes it look easy.
This woman is a genius... Oh my God, how the hell Sudeikis managed himself for not lose it even once? jajaja
Because she's not funny at all. What I'm more surprised about is how he manage to avoid throwing up all over this fat, gassy whale.
Nin13666 Alright, copy then pal, you don’t like her… I really can’t remember why I needed to know this about you, but… thanks?
***** Thank you very much for the link, it's very interesting... So, if I understood correctly, when a person A starts trashing a person B, calling names and unnecessarily pointing out the corporal characteristics that he/she finds inadequate in person B, it just means that person A is projecting his/her own insecurities and hate for him/herself in person B?... very interesting indeed. I can understand much better now where are coming from some comments of very particular TH-cam users. Thanks.
Nin13666 Hi again, pal. It’s good to know you still feel pretty well about yourself. You’re definitely wining at life.
Nin13666 Whaaattt!!? Are you kidding me, pal? You're talking about my mother? jajajaja How old are you...? Really, how old?, because maybe I should stop messing with you and just suggest you to talk to your parents and look for psychological help... Take care champ.
Watching this again after hearing it was mostly improvised by these two, makes it so much more enjoyable for me. When Jason Sudeikis breaks at around 2:55 it’s so genuine, Melissa is an absolute pro
Jason is too tho. The rage at 4:54 👌 both of are such a great actor. Jason has always been fantastic straight character on snl
You can tell that he was not expecting her to give him the second pen...he's trying not to laugh hahaha
Every time she handed him a pen i lost it.
I love the fact that this was mostly improv on Melissa's part, makes it so much funnier
Exactly
Michael Richmond yeah it was
Handing him those pens just cracks me up!!!!!!!
“Boop boop.. hey kids👋🏻”
😭😭😭
😂😂
Why did u put crying emojis
It's funny because she's so unhealthy and unattractive 😂😂
laughin til I cried 😂 😭
"oh my gawd is that the pizza eater?"
"And I'll go "boop boop, hey kids"
I live in Wisconsin. There are literally thousands of Barbs here 😆
Lmbo
I love how at points, you can tell that Jason is trying to keep himself from laughing, and in order to do so he simply adds a soft 'smile' as he's responding to her....
“It says it says pizza! It’s written! Let’s go!”4:15
At this point, I am laughing so hard I can't breathe.
"Crispy hot!"
I love her when she does this kind of characters, so much impro, she is so talented
Uggghhh why cant this be a reoccurring role!! The characters she plays are so real.
True
Someone please explain me what "leftover pizza" means. That doesn't exist in my world.
I read about it. There was some guy who had pizza once, and for some reason which was never really determined with certainty, pizza was found remaining in the pizza box at a later time. Clearly facts are missing.
@@free322001 Dude, that's made up, no way that's real.
I think its like the few slices you have left from the pizza dinner you had the day before, that you eat cold for breakfast.
SirCraigius but, who wouldn’t finish pizza? I’m so confused
Even if its cold from fridge from next day lol
Her sad look is both funny and adorbs!
She's so infectious and talented. She has more of the old school Carol Burnette/Tim Conway semi-improv style. Very refreshing.
I was thinking the same thing while watching this. She really exudes a strong Carol Burnette vibe.
OK, good. I'm NOT crazy. I thought to myself, "No, Jen. It's just the wig that giving you that idea". I'm glad others saw it, too.
Yes!
Never thought she was funny. Certainly no Carol Burnett.
"And the kids will say OH MY GOD IS THAT THE PIZZA EATER!?!?.... and I'll say BOOP BOOP HEY KIDS" 😂😂😂 almost pissed when she said that

4:16 "yeah man it says pizza. It's written. Let's go!" 😂
How the hell did jason sudeikis not break character
He broke. Several times. He just kept recovering XD
He definitely did 😂
He broke with some of those nervous laughs he made...was just able to not completely lose it. Great work on him.
I was gonna say the actor didnt break, the character was able to chuckle a few times cause he wasnt being absurd.
He almost really lost it but recovered well I wouldn't have lasted
They work so well together! :D
2:09 - That face she pulled after the shotgun blasts
Jason Sudeikis plays the straight man so well, it was great when he finally broke at the end.
