Best bat toss in the history of baseball. No one in all of human history has ever been cooler than Bautista in that moment.
+Trevor Gebhardt Delgado's bat flip after his fourth home run was pretty dope too
+Trevor Gebhardt lol. just like Hunter's bat flip. :P
+Trevor Gebhardt I totally agree! He might have been the coolest dude in that moment of any sport person!
+Trevor Gebhardt
Cooler than Elvis?
John Lennon?
Muhammad Ali ?
Keith Richards?
Cheech and Chong ?
Richard Pryor?
Dennis Miller?
John Belushi?
Vanilla Ice?
OK, I don't know how he got in there.
+ShaZAM514 Only person on that list that might be a little cool is Vanilla Ice. LOL
I live in Vancouver and I could hear Toronto cheer from here.
+hafabee Same Bro
+hafabee I'm in Spain and i swear José's bat landed near me. Cause that was quite the flip he threw!
+Omar Morales Luna omg, funniest comment of the week hahahahahahha
+hafabee I was DT Toronto for both 92/93 series watching on a HUGE TV screen (huge at that time)...
ABSOLUTE MAYHEM!
I'm looking forward to being at Toronto's "Bird's Nest" at City Hall to watch on the "jumbo" that is set up...
and PARTY! when we win it all again!
GO! JAYS GO!
NEXT!
Bring 'em on...
EH!
+Zee Glassman (Tazz Maniac) Your Enthusiasm is warranted except that the Bluejays won't beat The Royals. That team is as complete as they come. Not to mention Pitching trumps Batting almost every time. I'll take the Royals Starters and Relievers. It'll b a great series. And unless the Royals choke it away Royals in 6!
.... If I'm wrong so what, wouldn't be the First.
I’m not even a jays fan and this is still the craziest baseball moment I’ve ever watched live. So insane
Exactly

Can somebody explain to me like I’m an idiot why this is so wild? I’ve never watched a baseball game in my life but am curious after just listening to a podcast about the unwritten rules of baseball
@@MSFGALLAGHER oh man it’s a long story
@@MSFGALLAGHER watch the whole 7th inning then you’ll know why this happened.
Just want to take a second and appreciate the announcers call on the play. Not as iconic as the bat flip but the phrase “Bautista with a drive, deep left field, no doubt about it!” is something that will stick with me forever
Also, the timing of the fog horn going off right after he said it...great call, indeed.
I feel the same way. A great home run is only made greater by a great home run call, and this one was perfect.
And the horn right after he said no doubt about it, everything went perfect in that moment.
That’s Kenny Albert !
"You can only play with fire for so long" - B Jays announcer 2
That bat flip could cure cancer
Bravo sir!

You have to understand the context of this moment. The Jays felt the game was being stolen from them by the umps, by obscure rule calls, and by simple misfortune. Then, Bautista. The home run moon shot released all the tension in every Jays fan in the stadium and around the world. It was cathartic. It was electrifying. It was a moment of pure emotional release. The bat flip was part of it, but it was the entire sequence. The stare, the swing, the flip, the jog around the bases. Every Jays fan felt it. It was a moment of pure sports exhilaration.
marc80s it was fucking crazy
what grinds my gears is when someone who probably never watched the entire game gets all bent over shape when another person makes a comment that goes against their team. I did watch this game, I hate Toronto, and the game WAS being stolen from them by the umpires, anyone with a brain an actually watched the game would know this.
Also can't forget the four errors by the Texas infield that lead up to this.
(Officially three, but Rougned missed a pop-up that totally should've been an error)
Not just Jays fans I'm a Yankee fan and couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement seeing him bat flip for a crucial HR
@@Gantzz321 the game was NOT being stolen from them. especially when you had a dumbfuck catcher throwing baseballs at opponent's bats
"You can only flirt with fire for so long and it's gunna burn ya" Love the call
That was a good call, not as good as Tom Cheek's Joe Carter call, but still great. However, that same announcer who said that quote also said on air that Canadians can't catch balls, which was just ignorant and ironic since the catcher (Martin) was Canadian and catches 100+ pitches each game and makes sick plays. And of course Hall of Fame outfielder Larry Walker out of Canada can obviously catch.
@@thecaynuck4694 he was probably making a joke are you dumb? Why take it so serious lol
@@JH-ij2nm Well, the announcer for Fox who said that is known for being a clown at times. He just says stupid things. It just breeds hatred against Canadians in a league that is already biased towards them.
The commentating, the fans cheering, the camera shaking, the home run, the bat flip, everything gives me chills
the peanuts flying in front of the camera
How about the cup tap at the end? Cause that still has me floored after all these years 😂

Timothy Burton I Am a cubs fan and I get chills every time I watch this.
And to think that was only the ALDS. Imagine if it was the World Series! Hopefully our stadium fills up again. Our team is looking bright for the future. Sadly there were many bandwagoners back then, but still a loud and enthusiastic atmosphere.
@@thecaynuck4694 Honestly though, as a jays fan. That moment being as paramount as it was, it felt like we won the world series.
@@Flexb123 Felt like Joe Carter had hit another WS winning home run!
I don't understand how Texas could be mad about his bat flip. It was an in-the-moment display of excitement or hype...... This is just one of the best scenes in Blue Jays history.
+Austin Whitnell I agree! I am not at all for look at me celebrations, like in football pointing at the back of your jersey. But in baseball there are some dumb unwritten rules. When playing street basketball you might stop and scream after a dunk. When playing volleyball you might pump your fists after a spike. Why is a bat flip disrespectful?? If he pointed at the pitcher I could understand or started moonwalking to first base, but when men get pumped they show excitement screaming, beating their chests and tossing the bat that you just used to go yard.
I think the punch from Odor will be remembered longer.
+Austin Whitnell for someone claiming "best scenes in baseball history" I'd assume you'd know a lot about baseball history, like, you don't show up your opponent. And one of the biggest ways to show up your opponent is to stand at home plate while admiring your homerun and then throwing your baseball bat to the side with a huge pile of stink eye. I'd say Bautista was a little excessive, while I can also appreciate your "in-the-moment" comment, sometimes you just have to stay professional. Biggest problem with that display by Bautista was because there was still some ball to be played... it wasn't a walk off homerun.
+Scott Hescht watch the replay from the pitchers perspective. Bautista clearly glowers at him with some serious stink eye before flipping his bat in a way that basically said "suck it, bitch" There is just no way you are going to walk away from that one unscathed in baseball.
+Duke Nukem Yep, he went too far. They beaned him to get him on base, that should have evened the proverbial score. the hard slide was just that; a hard slide. and Odor's retaliation will no go unpunished... that much i'm certain of. He was punched for hitting the homerun (his job) the hard slide happens every day to every 2nd/SS position.
I tried to deny it but I can’t. It is the greatest home run of all time.
Bartolo Colon gives him a good run for his money, same season too
I'll go with the Joe Carter World Series walk off HR.

The Rangers got dropped, Bautista was still standing.
+Jeremy Alii-a-Kailihou the truth has been spoken!
Bautista was still standing thanks to Beltre.
+Duke Nukem You got it backwards, chump. Odor was still standing thanks to Beltre, not to mention the other Rangers who prevented Donaldson from beating the shit out of Odor.
+WSC9293 Donaldspn did his typical "hold me back dance". Donaldson is a bigger bitch than Bautista.

That bat flip made thousands of kids in the states switch back to baseball!!!
And made baseball in Canada popular again!
Im a yankees fan and even i thought bautistas bat flip was bad ass. He hit a huge home run in an ELECTRIC atmosphere. Next time make your pitch and get him out, otherwise get over it. The one video on TH-cam where i check in on every October
I'm a Yankee fan but I do love the Jays. Jose Bautista is one of my favorite players and so is David Price. I'm hoping to see the Jays go all the way. No one deserves it more. Canadian fans are passionate about their teams and that's why I hope the Jays win it all to reward just a deserving fan base. And this is not taking anything away from other fan base. Just giving credit where it's due.
+Louis Diaz How are you a Yankees fan and also love the Blue Jays? That makes no sense at all! They are our enemies. 1985, 1993 and this year they beat out the Yankees for the division title. Canadian fans are ok, but if you are a Yankees fan, (which you are probably a 96'r) your above statement is ridiculous to me. Did you have Bautista on your fantasy team?
Man, every time I watch this video I get insane goosebumps. Blue Jays for life.
I’m in the crowd for this, front row just above the WestJet sign. Never in my life had I FELT a sound like that roar, and still haven’t since. Sometimes when I’m having a hard time with life, I come back just to remember what that felt like: the whole game felt like a movie, and that we were doomed to lose. Calls just kept going against the Jays, but in that one game it all just worked out. And for me, It works every time things feel impossible. 💪

One of the Best baseball moments that will go down in history.
No doubt about it (pun intended). I completely remember every detail of what I was doing when I watched this live because I instantly knew that I had witnessed an iconic moment in baseball history
@@WavyKid13 I was watching it live and when I saw it, my jaws dropped, knowing that I just witnessed one of the best, if not the best, moments in not only baseball history, but probably all of sports history.
That was the most electrifying moment i've seen in sports. And that batflip really started a movement in baseball, changing the culture. Now everyone is doing it and its cool, when Bautista did it 5 years ago he was crucified for it by other teams, players, ex players but what he did changed the game and transcended sports. You had NHL hockey players, kids around the world, other sports mimicking or reenacting it in their own celebrations. I believe this batflip will be looked back at 50 years from now and celebrated. Its the benchmark for big moment hrs and celebrations.
This will go down in history along with Sidney Crosbys OT goal in the Olympics
Man, the Rangers can't even handle fucking Bat Flip that came out of pure excitement. If anything, they should be plunking Elvis Andrus for this. Not Bautista
+krionic You do realize this was ALDS Game 5, right?
+MrQ000000 haha! ok. i guess somehow my comment about 3 yard football completion was, in your mind, "uncalled for and disrespectful"
I guess I tend to reserve such exasperation for things that actually matter. You're right; I completely disrectected the NFL... by the way, a first down is the equivalent of a basehit or walk.... extending the inning... sure glad ball players are not doing chicken dances after a base on balls. chicken dance, is that better?
Or maybe they should get mad at their pitcher for throwing a meat ball on his 7th pitch
That is seriously the most exciting baseball moment i've ever seen.
@DVJFan You dont know the difference between important and exciting.
Even tho I am a Red Sox fan, if you went to this game you are so incredibly fortunate
Legends say that that bat is still flying around rogers centre
You mean the SkyDome
This crowd was cheering before he even hit the home run and after he hot it was just nuts honestly one of the best crowds of a game coming from a phillies fsn
He knew the second he made contact that it wasn’t coming back
Got to watch this at least 3 times a year. The atmosphere, along with the HR horns make this sport beautiful! Crowd so loud the camera was shaking!!!!! GOOSEBUMPS!!!!
Martin's homer against the Yankees. Donaldson's walk-off homer in the final (regular season) home game. And now this. Keeps getting better! Keep it going, Jays!
Man, I’m an A’s fan but that Toronto crowd was freaking lit!

When people talk about the loudest stadiums/arenas in sports, people barely ever mention the Toronto Skydome, I remember watching this game as it happened, one of the things I took out of most after that game was over, it was how unbelievably LOUD that place was, the cameras were shaking the fans were screaming so loudly, it was AWESOME!

“THE 1-1 FROM DYSON, BAUTISTA WITH A DRIVE, DEEP LEFT FIELD, NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!!” Kenny Albert is awesome.
This is my favorite home run clip not only because of the bat flip but the audio, it just sounds so different, I’ve never heard a crowd cheer like that!
I don't know how anyone could be upset by this. The guy is playing for a team that hasn't been in the postseason for 20 years and hits a monster shot in a monster moment. Baseball needs more of this!
I'm from Texas and can confirm the Rangers are a bunch of thugs and deserved the nail in the coffin. Go 'Stros.
I agree, if jays had playoff success a few years earlier this moment is not as big, the bat flip represented relief, an entire generation hadn’t seen them in the playoffs.
