- October 14, 2015: It was one of the strangest innings in baseball history. What looked like a killing blow to Toronto on a rare momentum-killing technicality in the top of the 7th, turned into the Blue Jays’ most memorable moment in 22 years in the bottom of the 7th. Helped by a historic defensive collapse by the Rangers, and culminating in Jose Bautista's "bat flip heard 'round the world", the Blue Jays go on to win the ALDS in dramatic comeback fashion.

Never in my life have a seen a crowd this loud and passionate.
Only game I attended that season and out of it became a moment I will never forget.....The air was electrically charged !! We were hugging complete strangers....very emotional !!
Some couldn't hold onto their beers passionately enuff either. Luv it the following year with the rivalry between Odor and Joey Bats with the epic sign "Rather Get Punched Out In May Than Knocked Out IN October. " 🤣

Never seen a baseball team so amp'd either. Looks the adrenaline of a football team. Great to see in a sport where they sometimes try to muzzle emotions and celebrations.
I think Dyson, Odor, and the Rangers went off on Bautista so as to remove blame from themselves... maybe it dated back to their World Series losses a few years earlier, but whether it was for blowing their 2-0 lead in that series, Andrus’ errors blowing their 3-2 lead in the game, or the home run, it was ultimately their collapse, and I think they chose to take out their anger on Joey.
Skipping afternoon university classes to go home and watch this game live with my dad was probably the best decision of my adult life.
Excellent decision my friend.
Watch the game with my dad aswell he passed away last year and I come back to relive this moment we were both on a Rollercoaster ride with that inning awesome moments to remember. I'll be watching the jays with my son in the coming years
I asked for the day off work. I had ample vacation time, but because it's MLB playoffs, you had no idea what the damn schedule would be.
So my request was considered short notice. The company can grant the request, but as long as we had suitable coverage. When I told my boss why I wanted the day off, she refused, saying that these short term requests are usually only granted for certain scenarios, I.e.-death in the family.
I was so pissed off that just because I chose to disclose why I wanted the day (when I didn't have to), I was going to miss this game.
Instead, I scheduled a really late lunch, wrapped around an "offsite" meeting, and watched this game in a local bar wearing my suit surrounded by my jays brethren. Running around highfiving the entire bar is one of the best memories I have.
My boss found out that I "ducked" out to go watch this game. I quit this company 2 yrs later lol.

You have to understand the context of this moment. The Jays felt the game was being stolen from them by the umps, by obscure rule calls, and by simple misfortune. Then, Bautista. The home run moon shot released all the tension in every Jays fan in the stadium and around the world. It was cathartic. It was electrifying. It was a moment of pure emotional release. The bat flip was part of it, but it was the entire sequence. The stare, the swing, the flip, the jog around the bases. Every Jays fan felt it. It was a moment of pure sports exhilaration.

For Jays fans, this was something we haven't had since 1993.
For the city of Toronto in general, their big 3 teams hadn't won a major series since April 2004, 11.5 years prior to this game.
It's hard to care as a casual because the Blu jays did nothing right aside from Bautista. It should've been a 1-2-3 but Texas had 4 simple errors in a row

Same. Alex Anthopoulos with his trade for Donaldson earlier, and then THE TRADE that brought David Price and Troy Tulowitzski transformed the team into a juggernaut. Yeah people complain Alex blew out the farm system to do it, but what the hell how long do you hang on to prospects for the sake of having prospects. At some point you empty the tank and just go for it. It was best 2-year stretch of baseball for many of the younger Jays fans who never got to truly experience the early 90s run of World Series winners. “We May Never Lose Again!”
So exciting because the 2015 division title came out of nowhere. They had been hovering around 500 for the past 20 seasons and didn't get a sniff of the play-offs with the Yankees and Red Sox dominating their division. Then the trade for David Price and all hell broke loose. In contrast, the Jays of the early 90's had built a contender since '83 were labeled the "Blow Jays" because of many heartbreaking losses: '85, '87, '89, and '91.

I'm like "it wasn't really at batflip, he just chucked his bat" lol little did I know how big this thing was. That batflip by Jose created a whole movement in baseball and MLB's "let the kids play" stemmed from it. And now u see more batflips than ever in baseball and each one done in a big moment is compared to Bautista's. And then u see other sports mimicking it like in hockey last season.

I’m a Braves fan so I have absolutely no dog in the fight really when this was happening but I remember this moment so vividly. One of my favorite moments ever in sports. I was just casually watching this game not really that into it and I reacted to this game as if I was a blue jays fan. Gives me chills just seeing it. I couldn’t imagine being there in person at the stadium if I was a fan

I was laying down on the couch when I saw Jose's face at 3:34, and I was like "oh my god... he''s going to jack it" and he fucking did, though I think it was on the following pitch that he did. Still one of the top 10 calls of my life.

Been there done that. The Super Bowl and NFC/AFC championship games trump any baseball including the World Series. And btw I was just at game 5 when my Red Sox won.

Bautista was pure passion. he's the guy you wanted on your team and if he wasn't on your team and playing against him, u hated him. He's my fav player or was but I've never heard a bad thing said by ex teammates about him and actually all I heard is ex players rave about him being a great teammate and leader. He got a lot of flack from Rangers fans and some the retired players, meanwhile that batflip started a movement in baseball and is why MLB started the "let the kids play" motto and set off batflips like never before. And every one of them in a big moment is compared to the Batflip heard around the world. I never at the time realized that HR and Celebration would be such an iconic moment in sports (not just baseball). MLB.com writers even said if Jays had of won the world series after that, the batflip image would have been the logo for MLB for decades to come!

5 years later and I can still remember going through the hour long emotional rollercoaster of this 7th inning as a Blue Jays fan in my basement. May not have won the World Series that year but this here is something special that Jays fans who watched this live either in their home, apartment, at the Jays game or wherever will forever remember this wild wild wild moment.

When i heard Dyson and Hamels, I was thinking to myself... What did Mitch Williams do when he gave up the most epic walk-off home run in World Series history? He admitted it was a bad pitch, that he disappointed his teammates, and said he wasn't going to curl up and die because he gave up a home run in the World Series. After Mitch did that, on-camera about a half-hour after the game ended, I ended up having so much sympathy and respect for him. Comparing them to Mitch, Dyson and Hamels are whiny crybabies who wanted to blame others for their shortcomings. I loved Hamels as a Philly, but lost respect for him as a Ranger.

This is the greatest sports moment of my life. Been a Jays fan since '92 when I was a boy. The wait was worth it, even if we couldn't get past KC.

Jordan, he was/is my favorite player. He almost single handily forced a game 7 vs KC. Those 2 big HRs in game 6 to tie the game and then was left on deck as Donaldson grounded out with the tying run on 3rd. But KC was so hot offensively, just a monster during those playoffs. Felt like every inning they were getting hits and threatening through the series. But who would have known that was the last of Bautista's prime ball playing years. He was a scary hitter though.

The bat flip is absolutely epic no doubt. But the thing that gets me emotional is the shot of Bautista rounding the bases with the camera wobbling cause the crowd is literally shaking the stadiom
It was his crowing life moment and you can see him proccesing that fact. special to see someone reach it
I know it's probably illegal for him to have done it, but in that moment I thought it would have been great if José Bautista was lifted in order to Stan on top of the dugout and wave to the crowd! That was EPIC!!
Yankee fan here, not afraid to admit this here is as iconic as Jeters ball flip play. Baseball at its best.

This is one of the greatest innings/quarters/periods for a home team, of all time. The meltdown by the opposition, capped off with the hr and bat flip. Epic stuff.

I remember watching this on TV in 2015, I still remember the amount of tension and pressure that was building up. It's already been half a decade since this happened
Still watching this in 2021. The Mad Max music is perfect. There was something about this inning and the 3 errors in a row that made you believe that perhaps the baseball gods are real.

You gotta love the rumbling in the Dome' (first job I ever had in 01') still the SkyDome to me. It becomes unreal, I don't remember if it was designed that way, but even with "the wave" you can feel the energy. When I was at home for this game, I knew and remembered how a moment like this felt, but not entirely to this level and magnitude.
