Lon tv is one of the most professional and informative channels in TH-cam. It’s nice to have a very neutral channel that shares product and tech information that just gets straight to the point.
Timely video. I just loaded this up on a Lenovo ThinkCentre I picked up used for under $60. I'm able to just boot up and launch into a bunch of old favorites and it's been a blast. The system fits right under my TV and it handles up to 1080p resolution for Wii and PS2 games.
I’m such a fan of Batocera and using Syncthing inside there to sync my games between devices and my Retronas. I really gotta try this Emudeck too though!
i think the only thing this is lacking is making mods, enhancements and other types of hacks for old games be more manageable as well, it's quite a big ask to make but without being able to actually tinker with the old gamers rather then just be able to play them is the main reason why I care about emulation in the first place so i'll stick with retroarch and dolphin myself...
For Windows, I prefer RetroBat. You don't have to copy/move your roms around like with EmuDeck. And the installer doesn't seem sketchy like EmuDeck does.
I wish I could find a PS2 or XBox emulator that could run Psychonauts. I'm fairly certain that it's a matter of not implementing a given feature of the hardware that the game requires, but as usual, it's another backburner project. In my opinion, this is one of the few downsides of Steam. Because the game can be bought there, people don't consider it important to make the game run through an emulator, which to my mind is a detriment to preservation efforts. All that said, I really like RetroArch because I can use a ton of emulators from one place with one controller.
My problem with PC emulation is that i spend to much time configuring things and then some months later i format my pc for whatever reason and then i need to do everything again, it's like every time i want to play some old game the whole thing need to be installed and configured again and i end up not playing the game or just going to the console to play it... I almost prefers using emulators on console, its like, more straight forward. The game just run and almost everything load seamlessly, the control work, the virtual memory card loads and even when years have pass the savegame i left is still there, cause who format consoles?
LOL it is not recommended to save Emulators or Roms on a C Drive. I use partitions or another Harddisk for Games, Music etc. Windows is on Harddisk C and on a Partition. So when i have to format Windows my other stuff is not deleted. When the Drive is damaged i have my Roms etc on another Drive and of cause not on the Drive where Windows is installed. Who in this world use only one Drive, or install all on C:/ ?
I haved used Batocera. But i dont like to Restart my Windows PC to boot into Batocera. From now on i use Retrobat. Its the same like Batocera, but installed is a Application within Windows and not as o seperate Operation System.
And I'm going to do the same right now. On the iPhone or iPad you can download emulators from the Apple app store. Do you think Apple would allow you to install illegal software?

Awesome. Thanks Lon. I have a steam box and you just re-activated my interest. Elder is awesome and your narration is excellent
This looks great. I will try it on my steam deck.

So wait, use windows to run steam, to run emulation station to run retroarch to run rom? 😮
Great video sir! Retrobat next please, it's just as easy.. you could make the vid in 10 minutes lol.
How do we direct the front end to open a different emulator than what was installed originally like lime 3ds for example instead of citra
have you used Retrobat at all? That is usually my goto and a great option for Windows (Y)
Yes working on a follow up video with Retrobat soon !
RetroBat is solid, but I find it limiting for advanced options

Most persons simply hack their fridge to play donkey Kong and they stand there all day and play that.
Pfft.. My fridge plays Doom and Crysis
it surely is pronounced ehm-you-deck... right??
That's what most TH-camrs call it. I cringe every time he says E-M-U Deck.
❤❤❤
Retrobat is better period, you would get so many views on a vid for it. Thanks for the good emudeck vid

This is what I like about emudeck - it just works and configures everything.

anything gaming oh yeah
Please try batocera or Launchbox on this n100 pc. Also stress test upto which Console can it play smoothly.

so why bother, use retropie ore emustation etc
Funny because i thought emideck was just fine 1 year ago, no updates needed
"emudeck for windows"
I mean I guess you could.. you could also run Safari on Windows..or Edge on Linux.. but who would?
You're telling ppl how to set up and play copyrighted games? Dad of the year award here folks
notice he left out where to get the system bios files
