As an old school Mitsubishi fan, agreed....they have become a joke. Let's go back even before the Evo's, they had a range of cool turbocharged cars in the 1980's, Sigmas, Cordias and Starions. Mitsubishi has lost its way, but then, so have most other mainstream car makers, and if they haven't lost their way, they cease to exist.
The wheels do look good, but cheaped out Rotas instead of some genuine Advan RS style $$. Good looking car nontheless. Feed it some E85 and this is solid street car. Great review btw, keep them coming Ross. The roads you seem to choose are always the right ones to properly test a car too.
I would never say the 4b11 was a better motor than the 4g63. Everyone of my pals who have had the X's had their engines fail on them within the first year of ownership. Stock power and boost. They were pretty weak out the box. Ive got an Evo V so im in the evo clubs here in the UK etc. Lots of issues with Evo's through out the ages but they seemed to have carried over to the X. Another crazy one is the AYC pumps failing and corroding at just a few years old. Absolutely insane as they cost 1.5- 2k to replace. Deffo something to look out for if your in the market for one.
When it comes to the fuel consumption and people saying how high it is, i reckon one thing people gotta realise is that the AWD plays a huge role, more weight, more maintenance, more power and torque and the engines working harder pulling all 4 wheels at the same time. Unlike your regular FWD or RWD cars (Depending on the model) the motor doesn’t need to work as hard unless if the car has a heavyweight engine. Even my mates 2.4L 08 VRX FWD lancer that he turbocharged making 300+hp, for a non evo x car (Same engine) he gets like 400-500km of tank (When he floors it) because he always travels high ways.., now if my mates lancer came with AWD it would get equally get terrible gas mileage like the evo would, It is kinda scary for these 4 bangers to be thirsty than a hulking v8 :/
They still are iconic .. They just needa put out ah evo that can compete with today's mainstream cars... Everybody's bragging on dodges in my area UK ... I see why but I don't like it tho 😂... Jdm cars from the 80s n 90s paved the way for everything

I prefer automatic despite knowing how to drive manual. Automatics are just more convenient than manuals. But if given a choice of the Subaru WRX CVT and the manual, I'd take manual. CVT's are just shit.
Well when the evo x first came out, all the wvo 8 and 9 guys couldn't stop talking about how it's not a real evo, how much better the older ones were. Sports cars are already a niche thing it doesn't help when you had people swaying others from getting anything new. Remember new bad, old good.
This is my old car. Stock wheels were my track wheels Rotas were for driving to street. MR comes with a few more things like better suspension / heated seats / wheels etc...
It’s not an auto transmission. The SST is a manual dual clutch that can be run by the ECU or the driver. Have had one since 2018. Most reliable and fun car I ever had. No way it’s 17L/100km. Need to wait to have it accurate. it’s 9L in hway. 12L in traffic
I have a MY2008 delivered 2010 Mitsubishi Evolution X GSR with a SST gearbox. It wasn't just limited to the MR. If you had the cash, Mitsubishi would option it.
Don't know if I agree with you on the Triton opinion and 4wd24-7 probably would aswell. Have you driven one or owned a ute? They seem to be a well priced ute, reliable and that's what the regular buyer wants in that particular range. Most of the other brands are good but way over priced plus the hilux is not what it used to be.

Of course all the salesmen had been driving it around while it was on their inventory, and had run up the miles (even after I had signed the contract) like the dodgy pricks they were.
My answer to the question on the title... NO! I was looking at getting a '14 MR for very long time, and the price point is still the same as the MSRP if not higher than it was almost 10 years ago. So basically you're looking at buying a car for the same value a decade ago with a lot of miles, and more than likely has been modified, and ragged out.

I think Mitsubishi may be investing & focusing on electrification & will bring out an electric EVO that will probably be an SUV🤷♂️‼
EV Evo, sedan, Ariya powertrains (base 250hp top 400hp), good price, reasonable build, will sell like hotcakes🔥
an electric EVO.. not sure i like the sound of that but still would be interesting to see!
hey, what modifications were made to the stock car?
I love brutally honest ross
HAHA i have to speak the truth
Any chance of giving the new Z a drive soon?
I’ve tried to get it no hear back from Nissan 💀
I have yet to even spot one here in WA and drive all over the metro area for work. I have a feeling there is very few here in the state.
What’s the story behind your tā moko bro?
my family is from NZ i'm part maori
Chur, where do you whakapapa back to?
if you can afford to maintain the car correctly, if you get the MR save the $ for a trans rebuild and the gas bill.... such an amazing car.
the gas bill!!!! its crazy thirsty these cars
If you could find one it would be interesting to see you review a Magna Ralliart
i want to but cant find any
Loved the evo since I was a kid and dream to buy the MR one day :)
they are seriously quick!
The ultimate street car..👌
Very fast car!
My dream car man
Awesome fun
Looking for a new car next year and this is one of the dream cars...would you recommend it. Kinda novice at car stuff so not sure what to go for. But nothing really excites me like this Evo and a couple of other jdms....any help would be FABBB
Yes, absolutely but keep in mind it’s expensive on insurance and fuel
I prefer automatic despite knowing how to drive manual. Automatics are just more convenient than manuals. But if given a choice of the Subaru WRX CVT and the manual, I'd take manual. CVT's are just shit.
Can you please do a Ralliart comparison??
If I could find one!
Please come to Japan again🇯🇵🙌
I LOVE JAPAN
Still crazy to think Mitsubishi thinks a new Evo won’t sell… but somehow an $80k CAD Outlander 2.4 will😂
ikr! haha how ridiculous
Well when the evo x first came out, all the wvo 8 and 9 guys couldn't stop talking about how it's not a real evo, how much better the older ones were. Sports cars are already a niche thing it doesn't help when you had people swaying others from getting anything new. Remember new bad, old good.
Just sold my X MR. I got more than I paid for it and went back to nursing school. Miss that car!
I’m sure it is missed eh
This is my old car.
Stock wheels were my track wheels
Rotas were for driving to street.
MR comes with a few more things like better suspension / heated seats / wheels etc...
Legend! appreciate letting us now very cool car
Anyone know what head unit that is?!?!
After my Lancer X... I want an EVO X 😍
Evo 💪💪💪
my first car is a 2008 lancer, love it!
😈👌
It’s not an auto transmission. The SST is a manual dual clutch that can be run by the ECU or the driver. Have had one since 2018. Most reliable and fun car I ever had.
No way it’s 17L/100km. Need to wait to have it accurate. it’s 9L in hway. 12L in traffic
I’ve driven a lot of these and they are always super thirsty! More than V8s
I have the same car, it's perfect..
Great machines
What is that area? Because i would love to go there and drive
Obrien road
Mad review, little beast. But are Tritons that bad?
I hate them 😅 each to their own tho
I have a MY2008 delivered 2010 Mitsubishi Evolution X GSR with a SST gearbox.
It wasn't just limited to the MR.
If you had the cash, Mitsubishi would option it.
Thanks for the info
GSR only came in manual , your car is not original it’s a mixed parts car 😂😂😂
I'd like to see these people Sit down at the table with these car company's top brass or any employee and tell them...your trash lol! 😂😂😂
awesome review
Thanks bro
Love a good turbo v6 popper streamers
Don't know if I agree with you on the Triton opinion and 4wd24-7 probably would aswell.
Have you driven one or owned a ute?
They seem to be a well priced ute, reliable and that's what the regular buyer wants in that particular range.
Most of the other brands are good but way over priced plus the hilux is not what it used to be.
He owned a Work Trition for years and said it was fcking terrible and I agree with him Hilux is still one of the best trucks ever made Triton is garbage because it’s cheap 😂
@@xclsv1350 tug tug
@@xclsv1350 Better than a ldv though 🤣
i'm going off my experience in them.. i've had one as a work truck ( Terrible ) also rented one for a weekend once.. got me to where i needed but thats it lol.. cheap garbage IMO
The triton is one big piece of 💩 I driven plenty for work and I hate them. Hilux is still superior don't know what you are talking about.
You need to review the 3000gt
Would love to see one!
Well when i am completing my Traineeship i am planning to trade my Subaru Legacy 3.0R to a mitsubishi lancer ev0 10 the same one in this video idc if it is an auto i like all cars if its manuell or auto trans
both transmissions are great TBH just depends what you want out of it
Like the looks of these ones more than the evo 9
good looking cars
Looks and sounds good
They go very good
@@RossReviewsau for a lot of reasons
My dream car ❤
Bring back the Evo! Evo 11?👀👀
They need too!!!
It’s a good damn money pit. Haha
So , not like anybody cares but I got mine when I was 21 back in 2016. It’s a 2012 gsr ,now owned pink slip ofcourse but let me tell you ! Yes ,it was a gas eater , people didn’t even believe haha “it’s a 4 cylinder “ 😂 yes ,it’s pricey to maintain but my god ,it’s the most rewarding . My advice is get your dream cat young. If it’s possible . Just get through it haha . Now I’m 28 and I own that built evo and now I’m almost half way through a 2021 srt charger .
Evo takes that win every time even then.
*”cheap tradies buy’n the Triton”* 😂😂😂 _com’n Ross, angry Karen😡had one!_
Have you had one?
🤣🤣🤣 your right she did
@@howtofixyourtech9945 an angry Karen?😜
@@thatguyben3128 sorry I get what you mean now. It was the video where the Karen was driving a Triton and flipped ross off right?
@@howtofixyourtech9945 all cool brother 👍🏼
Haha awesome commentary
🙏🙏🙏
Mitsubishi evo is one the best affordable enthusiast cars but right now they don't make a single car that I have interest in all
100% the prices are still attainable here.. new mitsubishis are just not the same
I want one so bad
this one is for sale ;)
Man that car just has fun written all over it hey & why have they stopped making them because all this climate & EV crap has scared them off ? I'd say yes the woke dogs lol, anyway it was a great review & you had a blast so thanks Johnny Mate.
Beautiful cars these!
They are!
Thanks..17 ltrs/100kms you'd be kickin yourself if you're gonna daily it def do ya homework buying cars
100% young buyers beware! This is an expensive daily ⛽️
I've got down to 9L/100km in my evo 8 when driving normally
All Mitsubishi make now is SUV's
And crap ones at that
Rip 🪦
Nice car but considering its being sold by next ride it would be a hard pass unless you want to get taken on your next ride lol.
What wrong with NextRide lol
@@RossReviewsau low ball on trade ins for cars that have a premium price tag on them because their deemed 'rare'. ended up getting 5k more trade in at another dealer
How the hell a 2L turbo manages to get 17L/100km is beyond me. Even the Territory Turbo supposedly drank less than that.
It’s insane how thirsty this car is
@@RossReviewsau how many km can it cover for a full tank ?
@@nafisjuraimi6882regular street driving in normal mode I get about 150miles on a full tank and a full tank of highway driving about 250 somewhere around there.
@@swaytv. thank you so much
@@nafisjuraimi6882 no problem bro!💯
Bro just said they sell for 70k? Get me in contact with that buyer!
Australia $ 🇦🇺
The original new price was between $70-82,000 depending on the model, it was later reduced to (from memory) $56K for the X MR. I paid 42.5 for mine with 88k on the clock, 6k more than the dealer (Bilia Volvo in Camberwell) had advertised. Of course all the salesmen had been driving it around while it was on their inventory, and had run up the miles (even after I had signed the contract) like the dodgy pricks they were.
The paint matched fender vents don’t look good
EVO X is the only good looking EVO dont @ me
The Evo V for me is arguably the best looking evo of all time. And I used to own an Evo TME.
i like all evos
we have the 2022 tritons at work, youre right cheap feeling garbage 😏
they are trash.. maybe the top of the line one is ok.. idk but all the ones i've been in are absolutely terrible!
These cars hold value because they are desirable and not made anymore.. I would argue it’s probably a safe investment tbf
@@RossReviewsau appreciate the response, but yeah I definitely already understand that. It's just not worth it in my opinion. I desire the Evo x for very long time. Almost pulled the trigger at the beginning of last year to purchase one, but said nope. Got a 911 instead lol. Still love the Evo x. I know they don't make them anymore, they're still highly desired, they still hold value and increased as well, but in the end I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
70 - 80K ….. idk where you got that number from 😅
Australia
Evo X Forever
They go hard
I’m not a Mitsubishi fan but the comment about the Triton being garbage is bs, probably one of the most reliable utes on the market!
I had a work triton for years with the city of Stirling 💀🤮 worst vehicle I’ve ever driven sorry
I think both of you are looking at it differently. Ross I'm guessing you are talking about the driving experience while rwd is talking about it as a work tool
Mods, don't trash it. 🥴👍
Ugh this car looks like something a 16 year old would want
Why?
My mate’s got a 2019 Triton with about 40,000km on it. He hates it, says it’s a complete shitbox and is about to unload it. Just his experience and opinion.
Sad that Mitsubishi has lost the plot
Pre 2019 tritons were solid vehicles I’ve seen them go well over 350 thousand klms but this generation seem to be very hit and miss
i'm just going off the work truck i used to have.. absolute cheap garbage..
First of all your reviewing an SST evo which is not the best one to compare for the raw feel, should've done the 5 speed GSR.
secondly no!! Mitsubishi Triton is not Garbage because it is the 4th best selling car in Australia. Please do your research before putting words and slander out there to the public.
Thts what happens wen u focus more on business rather than customer experience.I was laughing all along as u were butchering Mitsubishi as u drove the Evo,you just nuked japan once again🤣🇰🇪
HAHAH glad you enjoyed that roast
sst is quicker if you are a newbeginner
What happened to mitsubishi?...same as nissan. Renault happened i think. Damn shame
RIP :(
Evo x has 300 lb torque
