Bought one based off your review , while I am waiting on my A1 heat bed replacement. it was great for about 20hrs and then constant issues kept popping up. I have had horrible luck with adhesion on both my K1 Max and K1C. The 'glue' plate A would either stick too well with glue, or not at all without. I tried the textured B plate and it was worse. Finally, I found success with using a green Scotchbrite pad on the smooth plate. It didn't really affect the quality of the print, but removed the need for glue while giving great adhesion. I have never had issues with adhesion on various textured plates in the past on my Ender 3 or Ender 3 Neo Max.

Love your content. Watched this video while printing on my K1 max. Love mine as well. Agreed its a true workhorse. I switched fully to the PEI plate but went third party to save a few bucks. I print mostly PETG followed by PLA, followed by PLA Silk. PETG sticks to the PEI plate amazing well. PLA and silk do too but you have to rub the PEI plate after each use with alcohol and a 0000 Steel Wool pad. Then I get zero issues between prints.
The biggest issue I’ve heard is with having a level bed and having to adjust it. Not mine though, it’s work just fine no issues. But it’s good to know the rubber belts will last awhile!
I myself have had a K1-Max for about 6 months and for what he was unable to speak about at the end for different materials I can add. I have done Nylon-CF prints at 300mm/s and had great results. this printer while not listed as one for said materials is yet to show any struggle towards different materials from PLA. That being said it has struggled with different PLA brands. My recomendation is don't cheap out on the filament type you use. somewhere around $25 a kilo has done wonders for me.
I got a p1p about 3 months ago and it’s been running nearly every day. I’ve been needing the glue stick bc to me it wasn’t worth cleaning the plate every few prints but I’ve noticed the silks have had a bit more trouble sticking to the texture plate than regular pla as well
you should really do a review about the qidi x max 3. i got mine and its working nonstop like a beast. used to have a k1 max but things didnt go so well
Frank, what is the big draw to a K1 Max over the QiDi X Max 3? Larger with a heated chamber etc.. still fast… orca slicer etc.. slightly cheaper. I realize you primarily print in PLA so things like a heated chamber don’t matter but otherwise it seems very similar but larger and cheaper. I also have heard numerous times that qidi has great support. Thoughts?
This printer is $470 on Ebay right now. I was worried if I got this it would be plagued by the same problems. The K-1 was plagued with until the K1C came out. Is this correct? Should I buy? Has everything been fixed?
I have printed polycarbonate on this thing. I know creality has qc issues, but i love mine to bits. It has printed EVERYTHING i throw at it with very minimal effort on me. It is amazing, I love it love it love it.

Not sure if anyone gotten one of these lately. But i just picked one up at my local Micro Center for $699. I can tell they updated a few things from the first release models since i purchased one from 7 months ago.
What is the slicer you were talking about? Okra Slicer is the name? I wished you would have put in the link because these days, there are a lot of fake websites with similar names. Thanks and would love to get the link. Great video and I'm looking to purchase one myself.
So, I bought the K1 Max during the holidays when it was on sale at Amazon for $553.85 (including 4 filament spools). Absolutely insane deal... And I returned it lol. I just read one too many bad reviews about it and decided to go for a Bambu, since I don't want to have to tinker with it
I have one K1 Max and lately I’ve been though a lot of clogs with Pla is frustrating cuz i don’t know what else do😢 I’ve invested a lot of time cleaning and reprinting. I also have a P1S and that’s my beauty cuz that one never have given me any trouble
Thanks for the review. This affirms that being open source, and not sending your private info like bambu does it is better. The only thing this machine needs is an AMS-like device to throw bambu ver the ridge. I reall😢hope they come with some multi filament solution soon
Owner of k1max. My first 3d printer. Issues from box, display was not working, ordered new. AI lidar not working from box, can work without it. Printing PLA perfect, now struggling with PETG.
@ soso. Step right or step left leads to errors, print fails, bad quality prints etc. it’s ok for the beginner and better if you have 50% discount on the price as I had. Next I want to get Bambulab. Do nothing in settings, download 3mf and print.
Thanks, great vid. I have an Ender 3 v3 se, its great but I find the more I use it the more I want a faster printer with a bigger build area. This is looking to be a great option.
Getting back into 3D printing after a couple of years away from it and wow things have changed! I'm tossing up between a P1S or a K1 Max, ideally I want a printer that will just come out of the box and print with little to no fiddling but it seems they are both just as good as each other! Greetings from the UK, hopefully see you in London in May 😎
I've been pondering the same thing between the two. I can't get an answer from anyone really. One youtuber did say the Bambu Lab was more reliable and more of an out of the box printer.
@@guitarflyer172 that's basically the same information as I have been getting. I had CR-10S's and I spent the majority of the time tinkering and fixing rather than printing which is what I don't want. I these 2 printers are much of a muchness in that they do pretty much the same thing, but maybe the Bambu with it's proprietary hardware and software are a little bit ahead of Creality? I think I'm ultimately going to go with a P1S to get back to printing as I've missed it dearly, with then a view to getting a K1 Max or similar later on in the year. I say similar because I'm sure we're going to see a fair few more printers coming out over the next 12 months
@@guitarflyer172I’m having nothing but problems with my k1 Max. It’s about to be packed up and shipped out for a replacement p1p. It just gives me error codes.
Love my K1-Max's. I originally purchased a Bambo X1 Carbon, however the day Creality introduced the K1 Max I quickly sold the X1 Carbon and purchased 2 x K1 Max's, and I couldn't be any happier with the choice I made. Compared to the X1 Carbon when I had it, I've not yet had a single problem with my K1's.
Great video. You've convinced me to buy a K1Max over the Bambu Labs P1S. However, when I go to buy it offers all these other things that it says I might need. Is there anything else I actually need to buy aside from the printer? I'll be using TPU so buying that from Fiberlogy.
Question - When I watched Uncle Jessy's review (and partial destruction) of the K1 Max, he complained that he had to "root" the printer in order for it to accept Orca slicer, and even then a bunch of features were disabled and unavailable because he wasn't using Creality Print. You didn't mention any of that in this video when you were recommending people use Orca with this printer. So, the question is: Did you have to jump through the same hoops as Uncle Jessy to get this printer to work with Orca, and did you lose functionality? Or did you just figure out a better way to do it without all that nonsense? Because, honestly, if I spent that amount of money on a printer, I'd be pi$$ed if I had to "root" it and do a bunch of half-a$$ crap just to get it to work with my preferred slicer. Just thought I'd ask, since you liked this printer enough to purchase 4 of them. For context, I'm looking at potentially getting into 3D printing as a hobby (Yes, I watched your price-based recommendations video - thanks for that!), and the K1 Max is on my list (along with the X1 Carbon). I have the money to spend and my thinking is this: If I'm just getting into this, I want something high quality, that's going to be big enough to do whatever I want to do for the foreseeable future (minis, vases, cosplay, props, etc.), I want it to have easily reproducible, excellent prints, and I want it to just work well out of the box. I don't want my hobby to be tinkering with and/or constantly fixing my 3D printer. I want it to be printing fun/useful things, learning slicers and modelling, etc. Sorry for the long post, but thanks for putting all of this cool content out there. I like the concise, no-BS nature of your videos. Really helpful and entertaining!
@yeshua5707 because all the people I talked to and most of the reviews all said that it was pretty much a normal thing for this printer to arrive with the busted door. Why creality didn't take measures to prevent this is beyond me. I've heard that they ship better now but don't know if it's true
Got my K1Max for Black Friday and it's been printing my Mk39 armor basically non stop since then. Had some bed adhesion issues at the beginning but the glue cured that. Lately I've been running into clogged nozzles, or some kind of issue where the filament gets stuck between the feeder and the nozzle. Doesn't take too long to clear, but it's really annoying when it happens during a print. The last pieces of the right thigh took an entire spool because of failed prints halfway through 3 times in a row.
How do you feel about this as a second printer for a fairly new person to 3d printing? I have a new k1c and love it but would like a bigger printer to use. Thanks for another great video!!
I would have waited a little longer and just got the PRUSA XL ... know you've dropped another $800 you could have spent on the XL - that's 40% of the cost ...
@@krollmond7544 the only printer I've ever owned is a Prusa i3 mark 3S (3800 print hrs) so now that I need a large volume printer I'm getting the XL because I just don't see the others having the same reliability. I need my printer to just work, no tinkering, no upgrades, no fiddling to make it work " like a Prusa" ...
Love your content as always!!!! I am in love with my K1Max! However for Orcaslicer I have issues with the perfect settings or near it! I'd love to see a helmet or mask slice up using Orca and Max in a future video.... that would be a game changer for me! 👍 Keep doing what you do forever Frank! You ROCK!!!!!
I run 2 of these sidexside and a heavilly modified e3max - and they have not quit. i had the gen1's so i had to replace the extruders as they started to fail. but once i swapped them to the newer extruder they havent skipped a beat. much like you mine run 24x7 for sales as well, and i agree, this printer fills a specific space perfectly and i DO recommend it (if the price point is acceptable)
Which would be a better first printer for someone that wants to print helments that are funcitonal along with vases and pots? P1s or K1 Max? Please respond why? you have used both
I have VFA and ringing since the beggining. Rooted, input shaper calibrated correctly, still got some ringing on the X Axis. I think is because of the rear bottom bushing.
Hi frank, im going to buy either the max or k1c this week. A beginner at printing myself but outsourcing prints since a few months. Will this be a beginner friendly option, out of the box ?
I got a question im planning on buying a 3d printer and im stuck in between the k1 max and k1c, i prefer the cheaper option which is the k1c but if the differences are significant i might have to reconsider. But i did watch your other videos talking about the k1 and k1c and you did say the k1c is a very good option. I am very new to this whole thing aswell just so you know. I am also planning on making masks so I would like to know which one is better for stuff like that. And do you by any chance have a taoutorial on how to print and make these kind of stuff. Thank you 🙏
great video i love your channel. i bought my first printer got the a1 mini as a gateway printer. i have a question about the bambu slicer. can you like add prints to a que. like i know i want to print 3 parts because it is a small bed. it would be cool if it made a que. then it can tell once the piece had been taken off and then automatically start your next print
Hey Franklin built! When you got this printer the K1 Max, did you switch the hotend at all with the micro Swiss flow tech hotend instead? Just wondering if I should change it out or not
i have been using the k1c and its been absolutely great, no issues at all, and the orca slicer profiles for the k1 printers are like he said in the video, they are also great.

Currently 700-800 on ebay/amazon right now. Not a bad price considering i bought an Anycubic Kobra 2 MAX, and i've had nothing but issues trying to get it to print....
I was concerned about buying this printer after fighting with my Ender 3 Pro and Cr10S4 and making countless mods to make them run more reliably. Creality had a bit of a tarnished reputation in my house, but i decided to risk it since it looked like everything I wanted. Runs great to the point I even threw in TPU I gave up on and it printed with no issues. I'm loving this thing and your initial review video is what convinced me to try it. Thanks Frank!
My ender 3 pro is a beast. Had no problems with it except for clogging cause of the ptfe tube. Upgraded to a micro Swiss hotend and runs like a dream. Did some other upgrades to run high temp filament.
Love my K1 Max, it just works! I upgraded to textured PEI sheet from aliexpress because my B plate had adhesion issues too. The aliexpress one has zero issues. Only complaint I have is the VFA lines on the prints. For cosplay who cares, you're sanding and filling anyway, but for others I do hate the VFA lines. Hoping fixes are on the way.
Yea I love the k1max, been stuck using the creality print just because it’s extremely simple software but have found it struggles to do curves smoothly like a sphere for example but then complex high detail things it prints near perfect.
How is your original K1 max compared to the new version 2 and version 3 K1 Max? Did you level your print bed or you just leave it to ABL the entire way?
mine failed its 2nd print with creality hyper pla filament. It just stopped extruding 25% through the print and the lidar sensor didnt pick anything up. I think the filament snapped at the tight bend where it meets the hot end assembly. I know there are some fixes for this, but this should happen in its default config. My filament was opened the same day and shouldn't be wet. I could of dehydrated it, like I normally do with already used filament, but i have never had this issue. Keep in mind i have been printing for years and have a small print farm. I would say it is not fully reliable without modification, similar to my cr10s pro v2 that was grinding filament when entering the extruder. I had to get a bearing and 3d print a filament guide to amend this. Both great printers, just after people test and modify them.
Uncle Jessy is never going to live down shattering that door.
My kids kids will still tell the tale lol

What is the slicer you were talking about? Okra Slicer is the name? I wished you would have put in the link because these days, there are a lot of fake websites with similar names. Thanks and would love to get the link. Great video and I'm looking to purchase one myself.
So, I bought the K1 Max during the holidays when it was on sale at Amazon for $553.85 (including 4 filament spools). Absolutely insane deal... And I returned it lol. I just read one too many bad reviews about it and decided to go for a Bambu, since I don't want to have to tinker with it
I love the video!! Can you please do a predator theme video (wrist blades, mask and more)? I would really appreciate it.
And yes… glue NEVER fails, period.
Love this vid. I got this printer and I don't even regret it at all.
How’s it been lately?
Owner of k1max. My first 3d printer. Issues from box, display was not working, ordered new. AI lidar not working from box, can work without it. Printing PLA perfect, now struggling with PETG.
How’s it been lately?
Hey Frank, Thanks for the video. Can you add a link to the plate you got for the K1 in the video description?
Thanks!
Thanks for the update!
Love the video. I would appreciate it if you could please show us your print settings for the k1MAX. Including the support settings.
Man is just casually holding a dussack as he enters in. My kind of video 😂
*bullsh*t*
How’s it been lately
I love mine. I got it Black Friday from Amazon with 5 rolls of filament for about $550.
you got a K1, not a K1 Max.
@@briant5039 nope K1 Max my friend. I believe the K1 was $300 on Black Friday.
@@briant5039 nope. I have the K1 max
Nope: with the new updates for the k1 systems it just links up perfectly fine
@@FranklyBuilt - That's really good to hear. Hope your K1s are still performing well for you. Thanks for the response.
Nice. Happy you like them. I have a k1 and it's quite modified. It prints like a dream. I will get a k1 max at one point.
My k1 arrived with the door shattered so I just got a sheet of plexiglass and a roll of magnetic tap and created a removable glass door. Cheap easy.
Why didn’t you return it?
@yeshua5707 because all the people I talked to and most of the reviews all said that it was pretty much a normal thing for this printer to arrive with the busted door. Why creality didn't take measures to prevent this is beyond me. I've heard that they ship better now but don't know if it's true
@ got it.
Thank you, man 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🤘
Can you build life size suits aka Iron man suits with this? and or Iron man helmets? what would you recommend for first time cosplay?
How do you feel about this as a second printer for a fairly new person to 3d printing? I have a new k1c and love it but would like a bigger printer to use. Thanks for another great video!!
Got this printer for the size and enclosure until I can save up for the XL. Not disappointed at all, this things a beast.
I would have waited a little longer and just got the PRUSA XL ... know you've dropped another $800 you could have spent on the XL - that's 40% of the cost ...
@astrophysicistguy yeah I probably should have, just wanted something large until then. I probably should have got a Neptune.
Can you elaborate on how you got Orca Slicer to play conveniently with the K1 Max?
Thanks
Love your content as always!!!! I am in love with my K1Max! However for Orcaslicer I have issues with the perfect settings or near it! I'd love to see a helmet or mask slice up using Orca and Max in a future video.... that would be a game changer for me! 👍
Keep doing what you do forever Frank!
I see a mask with two colors, is that paint, or are you using an external multifilament system like Mosaic?
Which would be a better first printer for someone that wants to print helments that are funcitonal along with vases and pots? P1s or K1 Max?
Please respond why? you have used both
I have VFA and ringing since the beggining. Rooted, input shaper calibrated correctly, still got some ringing on the X Axis. I think is because of the rear bottom bushing.
Great Vid! Can you use CURA with it? I have a lot of finish stl`s.
Hi frank, im going to buy either the max or k1c this week. A beginner at printing myself but outsourcing prints since a few months.
Will this be a beginner friendly option, out of the box ?
hi Frank, I wanted to say thank you, thanks to you I decided to buy this monster, I am extremely pleased with the purchase
P/S I've been working on an Iron Man costume for six months now, and thanks to K1 max , everything has become much faster
not a k1 max but i have over 1100 hours on my K1 and havent even changed a nozzle yet. *fingers crossed*
Always making such great high quality videos. Love it.
I am so torn on which I should get between Bambu p1p or k1 max
Hey Franklin built!
When you got this printer the K1 Max, did you switch the hotend at all with the micro Swiss flow tech hotend instead? Just wondering if I should change it out or not
I’m looking to get a k1c and can’t wait for a review
i have been using the k1c and its been absolutely great, no issues at all, and the orca slicer profiles for the k1 printers are like he said in the video, they are also great.
Cosplay Armor Tekkaman Blade... ✌️Very informative, as always, keeping me updated on what it's needed to create the perfect costume 😎 cool B. helmet, btw, amazing really, can't wait to see it finished!
Loving my k1max so far, bought it because of your recommendation. I feel most of my headache is from filaments now…
I got the textured PEI bed but i have gone between switching between the smooth bed and the textured one.
Great long time review.
Any idea if Creality will bring a multi-material add on?
It's been rumored over and over again. Who knows if it'll come soon or not.
Currently 700-800 on ebay/amazon right now. Not a bad price considering i bought an Anycubic Kobra 2 MAX, and i've had nothing but issues trying to get it to print....
Is there a separate machine or something we can add to it to do multiple colors?
Can you teach me I have the AI one and I'm new
Love my K1 Max, it just works!
How do you feel about them switching the k1 max to the new unicorn hot end ?
Also how long until the k1c max hits do you think
Hi Frank! On any of your K1 max printers. Does the cable chain grind or sag onto the linear rail? 😅
Having no context knowing about uncle jesse until you say, "or you can shatter the door like uncle jesse did" had me laughing too hard
Just a quick one, is it a good printer for clone trooper armour?
I’m loving my Elegoo Neptune 3 Max
textured better for adhesion? I thought smooth was better for adhesion and textured better for easy release?
My older FlashForge Creator Pro has that whizzing robot noise 🤖 Can't seem to let it go though.. it works SO good 😎
