- Spy Crab joins thousands of Christmas Island crabs as they march to the sea. But their journey is anything but easy as the crabs have to climb fences and dodge the oncoming traffic as they cross the roads to get to the sea. Will Spy Crab make it?

Spy in the Wild is back in one of the most innovative natural history series ever presented. This time it deploys over 50 ultra-realistic animatronic Spy Creatures to go undercover across every region of the world. The 4 x 60 series captures some of the most extraordinary animal behaviour ever seen, filmed from inside the animal world.
Using special state-of-the-art 4k resolution “Spy Creatures” the viewer is plunged into the very heart of the extraordinary lives of over 40 remarkable animals. They reveal previously unseen behaviour as animals gather, feed, fight and breed in among some of the greatest wildlife gatherings ever witnessed. This team of hyper-real Spy Creatures not only look like the animals they film, they behave like them too. Accepted by the families, these robotic look-alikes can not only film from an intimate perspective they also interact with the animals and so gain revelatory insights into their worlds.
Each episode explores a different climatic region of the world and is packed with its own menagerie of animatronic Spy Creatures and extraordinary animal subjects. They discover how the animals have adapted their behaviour to not only cope, but often flourish, wherever they live. At times, their subjects occur in incredible numbers creating astonishing gatherings, found nowhere else on earth. From the hot and humid Tropics, to the freezing Poles, the seasonal North and the world’s most spectacular Islands, this new series of Spy in the Wild will transport the audience deeper into the animal world than ever thought possible.

I like to imagine that during the road crossing, the people controlling the robo crab were having fun and treating it like a game while for the actual crabs this was a life or death situation.

I feel so badly for the crabs. They are brilliant to figure out how to deftly scale fences, to overcome great obstacles only to end up on roads where people drive over them without a second thought.
Sometimes humans just suck.
Spy animals are always wonderful.
They are also adorable, every one of them.

It was almost as if it knew there was something off about the robo crab. Maybe the robo crab's locomotion and the way it was moving gave off some red flags. Awesome video though!

I love how there is more film footage of spy crab then of the spy crabs own filming.
Crabs also can see light polarization, so it's not enough that it's a similar color and shape, if it doesn't reflect light similarly to other crabs, then they're likely going to see something equivalent to us seeing a neon purple person.

@@snoutysnouterson no, they can see light that has been interrupted on its path to their eyes (reflection being the main source). Because reflected light tends to be more polarized, they can see an object not based on its color, but based on the polarized light that it's reflecting. Giving them a way to distinguish species, sex, and to see predators and prey that are otherwise camouflage in color.
@@checkle1 But all animals can see polarized light, polarised light is no different from any other light, it's just that it's wave is horizontal compared to the eye.
And all light that we see has been reflected off something, the only way you can see light is if you are looking directly at the source or if it's been reflected off something. Are you sure you haven't got this mixed up?

you do realize how crowded those tunnels would be unless you made them very big right?

i mean, i don't think they are intelligent enough to look for the tunnel and use it instead of the direct route over the road. mammals etc. will use it as they are actively avoiding cars whereas these crabs just yeet themselves over the road
