- Off the coast of California lives the alien-like Sarcastic Fringehead.
Better known for its aggression, rather than it’s sarcastic nature!
Clip taken from episode 4 'Deep Trouble' of our series Spy in the Ocean. Spy in the Ocean is available on iPlayer in the UK:

This final episode explores the challenges ocean life must overcome to survive. On the island of South Georgia, a version of the first Spy Camera ever made makes a triumphant return. This new Bouldercam dodges eight tonnes of colliding blubber as male elephant seals fight off rivals. In the chaos, an elephant seal pup is separated and his survival depends on finding his mother. Bouldercam is with him all the way as he fights off skuas and other dangers. Spy Crab meets the infamous peacock mantis shrimp and soon finds itself on the receiving end of the strongest punch in nature, a knockout blow faster than a speeding bullet. In the Galapagos, Spy Seal does its best to keep up with a lonesome sea lion as it chases tuna, one of the fastest fish in the ocean. Not only must he catch this enormous fish alone, he must do it while fighting off hungry sharks. In the hidden depths of the Californian coast, there are fish that must be seen to be believed. Alien-like sarcastic fringehead use their outsized gaping mouths to ward of rivals. Spy Fringehead is soon caught in the brawl, but its open mouth reveals a camera, one that captures a fish-eye’s view of the threat it faces. Off the coast of British Columbia, huge herring shoals face even greater trouble as they head to their spawning grounds. Spy Herring eavesdrops on the strange sounds produced by flatulent herring as they guide others to the spot. Our Spy slips into the shoal as they attempt to dodge marauding sea lions and the diving scoter ducks that are after their eggs. Life on the beach isn’t always the paradise it’s cracked up to be. When hermit crabs gather to swap their shells, things can go very wrong, very quickly. When a crab loses its shell it has to think on its feet. Its solution is inventive - the lid of some suntan lotion provides a temporary refuge from predatory birds. Our Spies are not immune to trouble themselves. When Spy Pelican films the spectacular spawning of grunion fish as thousands emerge from the sea to spawn on the beach, it takes a catastrophic plunge into the surf, leaving Spy Crab to takeover filming duties. Spy Iguana is also in trouble when it tries to film iguanas gallantly battling the stormy sea. Despite its best efforts it is soon washed away. When the same happens to Spy Octopus, all is not lost. It’s rescued from the storm surges by its old friend, the coconut octopus. On their many adventures across the series, our Spy Creatures travelled the globe to reveal the extraordinary intelligence, surprising emotions and complex social lives possessed by ocean life. On the way, they shed light on the mysteries of the deep as never before.

AYO WHO'S TRYNA MAKE HENTAI WITH ME?
When you're swimming and something touches your -leg- fin
@@BalaenicepsRex3that's definitely what the octopus said as soon as the loser entered it's lair
I like it when they close the mouth and just look at each other like " _Soo you from around here?_ "
Hoods be like:
Two Fringeheads: 😡🥊🥊😡
The spy fish: 😲😲
Love the flounder just sitting there watching the show

@@ashleyjohnson9651around 1:32 and 2:36 you can see him, if he’s visible more often than that I didn’t notice
These robot spy videos area amazing!
no kidding, i need to meet the engineers that make all the aquatic spies
I want to know who films the robots.
Sarcastic Fringehead? that’s what they used to call me back in highschool
Because of your mouth???
Frosted tips too?
Sarcastic fringehead?is that you?
I kind of love that the spy bot just goes AAAALL the way up to the other fringehead's mouth. Like "oh hello, you are threatening me? let me put my entire head in your mouth lol"
Must have been a rather bewildering experience for the other fish.
That's exactly what they do to each other all day. Normal sarcastic fringehead behavior
Probably didn’t care didn’t seem scared or anything
I like how he headbutted the octopus because he was mad that he got spooked by it.
The octopus coming out of the fringeheads home😂😂😂
1:10 "this is what a rival sees.."
umm, well i think they dont have eyes(camera) in the mouth like these robotic fringehead lols
they are also pshyquits they develop a third eye in their throat during mating season and also to see what they are swallowing

Controlling the robot animals sounds like the most fun job in the world
I love the Fringe-Head fish robot’s design and how it mimics the real ones.
I know I have work to do but here I am watching 2 fish and a robot kissing aggressively...
Thanks for the introduction to this fish. It looks like a dinosaur from Jurassic Park.
I can see how they evolved to walk out of the water with their fins acting as hands and legs. I also found the fighting style interesting.
Thank you for all you do to create robots and videos and share with us.
YES
I was thinking the same thing. It resembles the dilophosaurus from Jurassic Park!
You ever wonder if the animals being filmed like this get the uncanny valley effect?
Unless they are very social, they shouldn't. We get the uncanny valley because we are fine tuned to identify facial expressions and body language, and when a robot replicates this unnaturally, our brains triggers the alarms.
Why I never seen those before ??? That's awesome !
Fukishima. Godzilla next
That poor octopus 😢
I cannot get enough of these “robot spy creature” videos! ❤❤❤
That octopus was the last straw
just imagine if they are just saying "HEY JEREMY, GOOD MORNING"
Theee robot spy creatures get better every time
Love these
Real sarcastic fringehead:”Your teeth are in bad shape!”
Fake sarcastic fringehead:”They’re fake!Fool!”😁
it just happened when im thinking why he no need check inside 1st, tot he has reverse camera..😂really comedy...
I’m always so confused where all of the other cameras are. Because there are clearly quite a few. Including the ones to get the shots of the various robot animals with the cameras. I’m also surprised that the octopus actually left and agreed to being evicted!
Well obviously they aren’t gonna leave their expensive fake fish unattended.
They have rock cams!
Fantastic channel Dear John 🤩 🤩 🤩 🤩
These spy animals are so amazing.
That's wild video title lol

I mean, it's not click bait at least lol
Seen a lot of these, but this is new to me! 😊😊
Whoever made the robot did an awesome job. Looks incredibly realistic.
Great video! Thanks! ❤❤
You're welcome!
Clearly "private property" is not a concept among sea animals
I thought the two real fish would fight I got kind of excited now ai is starting to instigate fights that’s a long way 😂😂
imagine being the fish.. a literal visit from what amounts to an alien encounter.
2:30 it looks like that robot is watching in awe
i love these videos their so entertaining and fun to watch
Phooooooooone, jip jip jip!
Those tentacless coming out looked like something out of a horror movie.
Sarcastic Fringehead is often misunderstood unless he uses emoji
I wish you had merchandise with David Tennant autographs
Would've been funny if Spy just took his home while they fought
The weakness of the flesh is visible in the presence of the much superior machine
I could watch these videos for ever, that's a lot for someone with adhd😅😅
Never thought I’d hear David Tennant say the word “gape”
😂😂😂
Great stuff
impressive work, must've be difficult to make a robot fully waterproof and withstand the pressure of the ocean
the fish incarnation of; OI! OI! MY SPOT
!!!😂Okay, this is just cool and it’s one of the main reasons why I’m going to be a diver in the future just to see the amazing life underwater and to explore more of the ocean to find more creatures you can dialogue😂!!!
So cool!
1:16 open mouth smooch
Fish:Now CHECK THIS MOUTH!!Scare? Huh. oh...wait, bro. BROOOO that's tooo close. WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?!?!
It’s like two guys in a fight and they both say swing first
I've **never** seen this fringehead fish before! 😲
Wow what a great video
Bass frogs have this same type of jaw mechanism the back view looks like lobster tentacles also octopus that seems like a really old fish with preditorial survival
You cling to your scales like they will not decay and fail you.
I love you forever Mr Sipoy ❤
Having Scrooge McDuck teach me science while watching a fish do battle with its robot doppelgänger renews my faith in the internet.
Now we know where the inspiration for the Predator came from XD
Pls build one that’s like double the size and just scare all the real ones xD
So much personality
Something tells me that octopus has had to deal with these fish before and just can’t be bothered doing it again 😅
If I working in this , that'll be fantastic .
I love how their fighting looks like they're french kissing violently.
Donde esta el traductor!!!!
“Yo, is your mouth bigger? Sheeeeet, mah bad dog, consider this home yours”
Best spy ever
Thank you. That’s very kind
@@JohnDownerProd Any chance for a baby elephant spy?
I love how we’re basically doing the Mandela Catalogue to animals now with these robotic alternates.
Imagine someone sees it while swimming and decides to pick it up
These really do like like Jurassic park creatures.
there’s a spy.
Looks like the robotic one about to fire out a cannonball
This is how to inspect the throat of a fish.
1:45 Spider-man ❗POINTING❗
i really enjoy that british nature shows dont bother adding the pointless scary music over unusual-looking animals.
These gotta be in the goby family
Poor Octopus. 🐙
Nature: - Hello?
Evolution: Greetings, evolution speaking.
Nature: Yeah, it's me again. Its about that shipment I ordered.
Evolution: Yes ma'am? What about
Nature: So I was wondering how is it going.
Evolution: Oh yeah, its going fine, we've got the mouth done already.
Nature: Hmm. Any chance you can finish it by late Chattian?
Evolution: Well its not going to be easy but I think we can do that for yah. Just give me a couple million years and I'll see what I can do.
Nature: Oh thank you so much. With all these changes recently, I sometimes don't know what to do.
Evolution: Oh don't worry about it. Leve it all in our hands and have a nice eon.
Nature: Thank you, good day.
Evolution: Yo Charlie!
Darwin: Yeah?
Evolution: What are your thoughts about this one?
Darwin: But sir, this... the size... the energy input... the... I don't think makes any sense sir.
Lamarck: HAHA! NOOB!
Is this the fish that Subnautica used for the Ghost Leviathan sounds?
is there a way to buy these robots
Nah jit this is crazy!
It's actually pretty adorable
yeah..if you think swimming v@ginas with teeth are adorable 😂😂
Robotnik does that to scare away rivals
The real question is, do they kiss with those giant lips when they mate?
There will be robot spy versions of everything
I might get silenced/replaced in the year 2036 by my robot spy variant
Todo me recuerda a ella 😔
Amazing...⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️💖
❤
I did not know where was a fish named Sarcastic. 😭
Bro that fish looks like el gran maja bro
muito show
Then if there are spy robots then who is spying on the spy robots?
Plot twist: their all spy cameras
Why do you need both a spydrone and a camera all up in their business at the same time-
Who films the robot?
خلق الله المبدع ❤❤❤❤
I miss her...
That’s a title
