Nothing but tires and a cabin filter in 100k miles, that's truly impressive. Really appreciate the thoughtful update.
If all he does is sit and drive on highways without the wear on the suspension. Yes, it’s impressive. Otherwise, this is not how most normal drivers drive.
It is absolutely true. I haven’t even changed the air flitter after 90k miles. But he forgot to mention the windshield fluid refill, which is of course trivial.
@@dhui777 At 60K, you should flush and bleed the brake fluid. OP does not know better.
@@marketbuy it’s different in EV from an ICE car. Brakes are very seldom used in EV because of regenerative braking. My brake still feels brand new at 90k.
@@marketbuy Bleeding the brake fluid is in the service manual to be changed after 3 years.
My 3 is fron 8/20/2018 it just turned 205,000 miles 270 miles is my actual range. I always charge it to ninety percent and drive it down to 20 percent it's a great car
Very impressive 👏
I had to have an oil change and it was a Saturday. I had to pay $80 for this privilege. I am an old fart here in Louisiana and I have never even seen a Tesla but I have a few shares of their stock and am glad.
I had to pay for oil change every month when I had my ICE car. Afterwards I only purchased EVs and put 50k miles and literally paid zero for maintainer, not even tires. Only purchased a set of winter tires which I would have done it anyway with any car. It is great feeling for sure, but sometimes I miss my Corolla, because it was paid for. My Tesla has monthly payments, but I have to remind myself the savings I had with the Tesla. It is easy to consider them given. But they are indeed not.
If you do a lot of miles like me, I would highly recommend one. If you don’t, it is a nice splurge which you can resell with minimum losses. Tax credits help massively when bought new.
this is the best boring guy I ever saw. Finally someone who isn't on drugs
Agreed. We early adopters bought the 2018 TM3 sight unseen. My first sighting was my car when picking it up July 2018. I drove it around the block. Stopped. Took a deep breath. Called my broker and instructed her to buy as much Tesla stock as possible. She thought me crazy. I still enjoy the 2018 TM3 continue to be pleased with my decision to buy Tesla stock.
I did the same thing in 2018 after test-driving TM3. I am looking forward to test-drive CT and make another investment decision.
My Ex Wife bought the new Model S with the 402 mile range with free money made off her Tesla stock that I told her to buy! I bought her Long Range 2018 Model 3 and am buying another New Re Fresh Model 3 Long Range! I am hoping for a 400 mile range on it! My daughter is getting my 2018 M3! When you drive a Tesla you don’t want to drive anything else!
Didn’t buy stock but been watching it since 2013 it’s been a roller coaster 🎢 ride lots of ups and downs but if I bought some back then I could have bought 10 Tesla’s by now.
Did the same thing with significant stock purchase after our reservation in 2017. Knew it was going to be a game changer.
Looking back, I could almost say our dual motor model 3 was "free" from the stock market gains, and it is also supporting my early retirement.
The stock can be a rollercoaster as Elon is a divisive billionaire business leader. I think SpaceX shows that he still has the disruptive itch.
Great video, people need accurate information about Teslas. It's amazing how regular media won't acknowledge what an amazing transformation this is. Thank you for putting this video together.
I agree! Too much nonsense on both sides of this topic. I will never drive an ICE car again, but it has nothing to do with any political stance I have. Honest reviews like this are what we need.
Yup! The people at the ICE Car industry plants people to bad mouth Teslas’s it’s the same with foreigners that watch CNN they all hate President Trump! The big Three Auto manufacturers are in Big Trouble along with Toyota, Honda and Nissan! They Have to Bash Tesla with Negative information to try to get even 10% of us to buy Gas Pigs with constant problems! I have had Zero Problems with my Tesla long range model 3 and Enjoy the Car immensely over my Mercedes CLS 550 twin Turbo V8 with real wood and Message seats that heat and cool…… the Beauty is the Simplicity and Quiet ride! As fast as a Porsche 911 S Carrera and 1/3 the Price and next to nothing to Travel anywhere! I go from Palm Desert to Marina Del Rey going 75 for $12 & no oil changes or engine air filters or rotor/brake pad replacements! My Paint is Perfect and I have No panel gaps for the ICE Care Nut Jobs out there!
Ahahahahahahabahahahahahahahahahahah a completely mass media BRANDING operation to boost the agenda BEHIND the 2030 agenda, and as usual another PROPAGANDA video, noting to see HERE.
It's amazing to you becasue you're an obvious automobile neophyte. If you REALLY knew anything about he cars, you'd run like hell!
It's very simple. Musk bashed Biden. Game over from the media. No unions in Tesla factories. Are you catching on yet ?
According to the internet a replacement NEW Tesla 75kw battery pack for this car is $16,500 installed. So if you buy a used 100k miles 2018 for $30k. Drive it till it’s 400k, the battery fails, replace for 16.5k and go another 400k. You’ve spent $46.500 and gotten 700k miles. Not a bad deal today.
no mention of the electric motors. They can’t go forever..surely? What do they cost to replace? You’re right about the battery just not sure which would go (become a liability) first, the battery or motors?
@@lawrencecoleman6998 Actually electric motors do last a long time, I would be surprised if you needed to replace them in 700K miles. I believe they are designed for a Million Miles however they are only warrantied for 120,000
Some Teslas suffer from inverter failure (occasionally very early in the car's life) that renders the drive unit inoperable. There was a recall in China but not so in the United States.
@@lawrencecoleman6998The motors generally should go much farther than the battery.
Early Model S motors have been known to fail, in some cases before 100,000 miles, but these are groundbreaking motors, the first of their kind. Later ones seem more reliable.
I watch and read a lot about EVs. I'm not aware of any motor failures in Model 3 or Y. It must have happened to someone somewhere, but it's not something you hear about.
@@lawrencecoleman6998 The motors are expected to last 800k miles.
Nice to see that a Tesla Model 3 from 2018/19 is still in that good condition in 2023! I have my M3 now a good year and it is still the best choice I've ever done.
m3 sounds like bmw lol
Made our reservation for the long range dual motor as soon as we could in June 2018, and took delivery of one of the first in Canada in September 2018.
100,000 km (62,000 miles) later and it is still amazing. Did PPF paint protection as I knew this could easily last 20 years. Looking at how much used ones go for, others would agree.
My 2018 M3P is at 93k. 11% degradation, slower charging even with pre-conditioning (20 min vs 30 min). Charging habits are half SC, and half 240V home. Had a windshield replaced under warranty. Paid for a dead 12V just after warranty expired (of course). Replaced normal wear and tear items (on my 3rd sets of carbon cabin filters & tires). She still pulls 1g accelerating!
Love the car, no regrets.
Sounds like u got a lemon
My 2018 M3LR at 90k has 12% degradation. Seldom supercharge, only about 5 times in 4.5 years.
TH-cam videos of people experiencing Tesla linear acceleration, being pressed back in their seats, from stop to whatever speed you want to get to, still gives me a smile! Our production dual motor without any modifications is rated 0-60 in 4.2 seconds. Over and over and over.
It is beyond comparison with any other mass produced internal combustion can ever be.
Change has arrived... our kids will wonder what took us so long.
My man look like he was about to tell me about the power of Jesus
My 2019 Model 3 AWD Long Range is 50 months old now. Never been in the shop. Had to replace the little 12V battery a couple of years ago and the service team came to my house. Love my car!
Have the same car with 70K on it. It is so cheap to drive, I still walk to my car with a smile everyday. Best purchase of my life.
70k miles in how many years? Its not about the miles, but also how many years it last.
I bought a used Lexus LS400 for $3500 and put on 70,000 miles and it still runs like a champion. It needed a $600 repair in that time. It used 3500 gallons of gas and I changed the oil 12 times at a cost of $27 each time (I do it myself). It used two sets of tires at $550 each set and three sets of brake pads/one set of rotors at $250 total cost (I do the brakes myself) plus two alignments. That's it. $16,774 - let's call it $17,000 in total. Probably 1/4 the cost of your car so far. It's about the money for most people, and spending 4 times the money to start instead of a good used car is not a good deal.
@@privateer0561 can you compare a used Lexus to a new Tesla?
You're pretty easy to appease and haven't do e much in life yet... I look over at my neighbor's Tesla and want to vomit every morning.
I have a 2021 Model 3 LFP, picked up Sept 2021, to date I have 86,500 miles. It still drives like a brand new car! Best car I’ve ever owned! Picked it up w/ 253 miles @ 100%, now I get 237 miles! My wife has a 2022 Model Y Performance and she loves it too! We’ll never go back to ICE!
I am not a fan of EV's, but I am a realist and I understand that the world is going in this direction. So eventually I probably will break down and buy one. But, what I want to say here is that I appreciate your review greatly. It was a fair and honest review of your real world experience. You didn't try to persuade people toward or against EV's. You presented your facts and your reaction to what you experienced over time. A great review. Thank you. I enjoyed it.
I would recommend you consider plug in hybrids. They are the best of both worlds. It’s like a mini ev with mini ev range. They tend to have 15-40 miles of electric range which is good for most of the peoples commutes.
Accotding to Elon Musk, gas cars have at least another 50 years before we notice a diminished presence on the road. the igasoline/diesel nfrastructure is there as opposed to EVs with close to 2% infrastrucure and 2-3hour wait times to get an open charger then another 45 minutes to charge to 50%. Yeah... sounds like a REAL revolution!
@seanoleary1979 all new cars sold in the eu will be evs after 2030. Doubt it will take 50 years to see EV dominance. There are already tons on the roads around me. (But I live in quite a wealthy area)
@@froge_ The EU always seems to think they are looking forward while in actuality, they're going backwards. On the other hand, there is probably 10X the amount of nuclear power to generate electricity while the US is still 60-70% fossil fuel and coal. The needs and demands of cars in the EU is NOT anywhere near the same as the US. People over there drive around in cars that resemble pimples. Here, men are men, and sheep are scared!
@@Beafybrian we had a plug in Pacifica hybrid which was great for when we had it. Zero complaints. One downside to the hybrids that I came to recognize is usually overlooked: they have double the engine / motor maintenance / potential problems vs a pure EV or pure ICE as they have both propulsion systems. Still a good choice I think when the pure EV doesn't fit the requirements for some reason (other than FUD)
I’m going to buy a 2024 Teslar Model 3 in March 2024. I like this presenter who speaks without any drama !
My first language is Arabic and I have been working in media for a long time.
You can imagine that I did not complete a video of more than 20 minutes a long time ago and I often do not write comments, and I am not even obsessed with Tesla, but as soon as I opened the video I completed it to the end, because your style and the arrangement of your ideas and your ability to choose your words and the transition between points were smooth, beautiful, and beneficial to the audience, so I found it my duty to tell you that I enjoyed watching the video, and I strongly advise you to produce videos about anything in life, and you will find viewers. best regards bro.
Thank you!
@@edfessler I totally agree with this commenter!!!! I thought a similar thing when watching this video!! Subscribed!
For 100k miles, I must say the bodywork still looks solid.
Watching this in my 2018 LR Model 3 currently 290 miles displayed at full. No issues so far. Only maintenance has been windshield wipers, 12v battery and a set of tires. Car drives exactly the same as the first day I got it. Best car ownership in smiles per mile ever!
You covered every point in detail that someone would want to know before getting a tesla. Thank you.
Great video! I have a 2018 LR as well and charging to 100%, I get 306 miles now vs 310 brand new, so I am extremely pleased. its comical listening to all the Tesla hate out there. If you don't like the vehicle, don't buy one. it's that simple. For most Tesla or EV owners, our cars do what WE need them to do for US, so WE are happy. please continue to do what you do to make yourself happy in life.
...c'mon, you know as well as I do just how tough it is watching a train wreck! But, could YOU turn away? Normal people can all sit by and watch the self-serving lemmings buy Teslas and praise Teslas as the Teslas continue to absolutely trash the environment under the guise of being green - but any sensible person (any non-Tesla owners) just can't help commenting such a disgusting and pathetic trend.
I have a Tesla and I know many owners at the charging stations that don’t like em. They have horrible range, charging is a hassle if your out and about. It’s such a basic boring car. Only reason I got it was because my sister had major health issues and couldn’t afford her lease so I took it over for her for an extra car. It’s good for short commutes tho.
People complain about charging time during road trips and most have never driven a Tesla, let alone road tripped in one. My wife and I drove from Massachusetts to Minnesota after purchasing our MSLR+ and it was a lovely experience. Quiet, cheap (from a fuel perspective), fun, and enjoyable. Yes, our average stop was 15-30min but by the time you go to the bathroom, get some snacks and take a leg stretch, you aren’t waiting long at all. And I’ll say that despite it taking a bit longer, I didn’t feel like we took a cross country road trip because it forces you to stop a bit longer. I’ll never own an ICE car as a daily again.
And I have spent Zero minutes at the gas station in 6 months and Zero minutes charging because I am sleeping. So I am 2 1/2 hours ahead already if I take a road trip.
@@kerrott Valid points.
You should make more videos! Your review was concise and very interesting, had me watching the whole way through! A+!
Thank you!
I like how he talks. Kind face, nice demeanour.
I drove my 2021 Model 3 LR to Texas last year 3000 miles. It was a wonderful experience. We did 200 to 275 mile hops between charges and never charged more than 25 minutes. Most stops the care was done before we returned to it.. Never really waited more than 10 minutes after returning from the bathroom and getting a snack. Supercharger network was awesome every single stop the charges were working. Plug in and walk away.
Imagine, for a moment, stopping every 200 miles on a long trip? How long would it take you to get to Florida from NY... 3 or 4 days? My old F250 Power Stroke diesel with a 7,3 and 2 tanks totaling 58 gallons of fuel can go over 900 miles at 20 mpg in a single shot. Plus, I don't look like a limp-wristed douche while doing it!
You shoulda' stopped in Vegas, you would've done well... you were obviously very VERY lucky! And, Vegas is one of the few places in this country where driving a 4-wheeled tampon is OK!
@@seanoleary1979sheesh dude, who touched you? I’ve had two American muscle cars, two Chevy 5.3 trucks, a Japanese coupe, and a Japanese turbo 4 cylinder car. I’m getting my Model 3 tomorrow and I’m stoked to try out electric vehicles. Let people do what they want.
@@beechcraftpvp Of course you can do what you want, just don't call a pig with lipstick Jennifer Lawrence because it'll ALWAYS be a pig with lipstick. Same with EVs... don't call them green if they contribute to destroying the planet even more so than gas cars, with all things considered from cradle to grave. Now go do your best to destroy the planet all while lining the pockets of some eccentric South African billionaire!
Still looks brand new and *modern.*
Like the cat, looks quite long lived and healthy!
Maybe someone from Tesla's Ad team should use this as their first ad.
Seriously. Tweet the link to Elon and see what he thinks.
I’m 32 and I like it quiet, the world is so noisy 😊
Now this was a very nice video, I watched it twice just to enjoy the peacefulness of it again. It’s so much better than all of the other obnoxious noisy videos… thank YOU!!!
I like this dudes vibe, real chill!!
underated comment
Great colour choice. Our red dual motor has over 100,000km (62,000 miles) since delivery in Sept 2018. I love that with the free over the air software updates, it's better than the day it was delivered! Map software is always current, without additional fees (compared to our Chrysler van $$$ for updates).
The "come to you" service is underestimated. No time wasted at the garage waiting for your vehicle to be serviced.
People need to experience it to believe it.
I’m a hardcore BMW and now Porsche fan and owner… I used to mock Teslas but considering the sustainability I think is the beginning of the end for gas cars…
I just purchased this vehicle❤ your video helped me
Mine has 41k miles and they took amazing care of it
Sounds like you’ve had the ideal Tesla experience, where it basically delivered everything an EV claimed to. Well done and glad to hear a success story.
This is like 99% of Tesla experiences. The rest are the ones you always hear about.
Honest reviews are the best. I appreciate you took your time and explained your experiences to the people who are looking to get a Model 3, like myself, but debating on the current 2023 or the new refresh.
thank Ed for sharing your experience.
One of the best automotive long term reviews! Thank you!
I'm already at 50,000 miles on my 2021 M3. No issues except one rear door has never closed as smoothly as the others despite Tesla working on it twice. I also has a little wind leak issue when it was brand new which their mobile service fixed. We recently bought a model Y for my wife and I can see Tesla has made significant quality improvements. Her car has no panel gap issues, all the doors close more smoothly. etc. It just feels a bit tighter and more refined than mine. But we've had nothing significant to worry about with either car...except that I'm on my 3rd windshield thanks to a daily commute with construction everywhere. A rock recently cracked the top glass on my M3... I don't let those things bother me because broken windshields are just a way of life with any car in this area with so much construction and trucks spilling gravel everywhere.
Own a 23 model 3 and i think the quality was overall very good. This replaced a Lexus so we know what solid is.
thank you for this!! just got a 2023 model in october 2022 and it’s been serving me well. i really wanna camp in it.
Thanks for the video Ed! You seem such a nice guy, always with a smile in his face and with good explanatory skills. Altogether, a very good all-round communicator. Thanks again for the video and a big hug from Spain!
Great video. I bought my Model 3 (same colour) back in October 2018 and it’s been nothing but fun and excitement. Battery degradation is similar, but like you said it doesn’t really matter, as long as you have a good number of miles in the battery, you’ll be fine. Your cat stole the show, by the way.
#TeamRed rocks ;)
came for the info, stayed for the cat
LOL
This is an excellent well put together video. Very good job here. Hopefully people understand. Just a great job here on this vehicle. Congratulations too on hitting that 100K mark. Great video too. Thank you.
Thank you kindly for sharing your experience with the Model 3.

Thanks Ed for an excellent and honest report from normal driver! Enjoyed it!
Thanks man, you have no idea how much this review helps!
Thank you for this. You're a pleasant guy to listen to.
Got my Y last month and as you said the quietness and effortlessness is one of the most wonderful features of the car. Another game changer is one pedal driving on twisty country roads. How good it this😊!
Phantom braked a couple of times but I know why, it occasionally mistakes shadows for physical objects and paints marks on the road can throw it at times also but overall a fabulous car to drive..and the amount of space is a whole other topic.
Very informative video btw. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺👍
I’ve owned my 2023 model Y for a few months now and this has ease a lot of anxiety in terms of maintenance and longevity. Thank you!!!

thanks for sharing your experience, makes me feel comfortable even more with my Y purchase, no problems so far :)
Good info. Our Model 3 was my wife's car until we sold it to our son. I'll mention this video to him. All your comments were exactly like our own experience. My wife now has a model Y and I have a Model X---the one thing you didn't say which I expected to hear was how excited you feel each time you get in the car. That's my feeling anyhow. Thx for a very important video for anyone thinking about buying a Tesla.

Great video, you had great points to make and it was right on track with my experience. I've been driving a Model 3 for about 6 months now and I love it as well. Also a 2018, and I'm nearing 100k miles myself. Like you, I've had very little maintenance, and it's been the most reliable car I've had by far. Hardest thing about the car is resist "goosing" it for fun. Thanks for a great video!

Congrats on 100k! The future is bright with Tesla 🌞
Thank you Ed, great video. I love my Y too
I appreciate your review. I have a 22 M3LR. Your remarks are inline with my experience and use case. I had lunch with a long time friend/former coworker today and this subject came up. I have had my car 18 months. He asked about service. I told it required one service, and that I performed it. I refilled the window washer fluid. Total cost $3. I sent him a link to your excellent video.
Thanks! I still love my 2018 M3 just like you. 👍🏽💯
Great video! Many thanks for sharing . I have a model Y with 4000 miles so a long way to go!
Very well thought true video CONGRATULATIONS
Thank you for taking time to made this video !
People are concerned about range because that’s all Tesla owners make videos about. As an average guy, I don’t worry about range. I fill my tank and go. So with a Tesla - owners need to make videos on the benefits not the range anxiety. Good video. Give an update when you hit 150k.
GREAT VIDEO. Can wait to get one soon
Great video! Many more miles...
Thank you Ed, the best Tesla review I have seen by far!

Great review Sir!! I am betting you might get closer to 500,000 miles based on how well you take care of this beautiful ride! Cheers!!!🎉
Well done! your video and approach really resonate with me
you mentioned everything i love about my Tesla. very little maintenance, always a full battery and never needing to go to a gas station, good range. other brands should take note of what Tesla does right.
