I am a Hindu and when I discuss history of Islam with my Muslim friends, they just listen to me. They never say but I know they are impressed. I AM NEVER TELLING THEM THAT I AM SUBSCRIBED TO YOUR CHANNEL.
Aditya I will do more videos on other subjects too. The reason why I've focused more on the Middle Eastern subjects is due to the fact that the region is on fire. There are conflicts at every corner, and I want to explain the origins of the mentality and the history of this fragile region. I do plan on doing more videos on Asia and Africa.
MHM eekk sorry but as i know, at uthman time's there are alot people that translates Quran to many dialects, thus made some grammar changes and such, (there are alot dialects in Arabic back then, even now) what Uthman did is collect all of those different versions of Quran manuscripts and correct them based on memorized version of Quran in dialect he use, and burn the rest so there will be no other but just one version of Quran to avoid misconception. (i forgot how they call people who remember Quran by memorizing it, but they are alot of them, and thats how people know Quran before Uthman collected and compiled it.)
Ivan Bayu Good answer. Also if Uthman had really altered the contents, there would have be objections throughout the state (there were too many people who had memorized the Quran). However, conspiracies in Islamic history are plentiful.
***** yes,and thats probably why i never seen Quran translated in another language WITHOUT the original arabic texts up until now, but i dont know if there is one tho, cuz actually some languages just can't be translated literally to another language.
AGS363 If the organization did not already start off corrupted, regardless of the idea, religion or type of government - eventually anytime you get humans in a place of power, there will be corruption.
Who us this guy? His points are accurate and the direction of his analysis points always at the right path. No excess words are used and the flow of information is well adjusted. This is how history should be taught in the first place
You're a great storyteller, my friend! I didn't have the slightest idea of how epic this story was! I know very little about the Middle East (I'm from Brazil), but I got curious about the history of the Islam. Your videos are doing great in explaining it, and I thank you for that! Keep up the good work! By the way, I think you should make a podcast with Dan Carlin from Hardcore History ;) Cheers!
FINALLY I understand the seeds of the fitna. Thank you very much ! To me, as a christian westerner, the assassination of Uthman by muslims is the very sad moment where the religious enthousiasm leaves room to usual politics.
Ahmidsviper haha buddy. go to any proper historical source and ull get better history. even wikipedia has better islamic history than this shia propaganda.
CrackaBox when talking about uthman shirvan adopted a deceptive strategy. he said positive things only about his religious and personal life. but all the financial and social points were negative. the three main points are:1.when egyptians reported to ali that his cousin only cared about revenues funneled from egypt to mecca;and also he was corrupt and oppressive uthman did nothing. THIS WAS NEGATIVE. 2. uthman was the first caliph to authorize muslims to be able to hold(purchase) conquered lands. since the umayyads abused this, grew super rich and influential this was also negative.3. uthman let muabia his another cousin to grow militarily very strong and influential. this is also negative because we all know by muabias order ALIs son and his family was murdered. so ur opinion that uthman was portrayed as positive was incorrect.
Ahmidsviper The question is, is it really neutral? History always has multiple sources and different points of views, this is only one. For example I'm a little skeptical that 1000 people rampaged and looted the city of Madina. Even if people were going to Haj the city was never empty and I'm sure Uthman could've easily rallied at least a 1000 people to confront them. He was living there for more than 10 years and must have had lots of supporters. The people guarding his house were Ali and his 2 sons, what better support do you need? Other sources claim he didn't want any bloodshed and told his supporters to not take up arms. Reading what prophet Mohammed (pbuh) said regarding Uthman this seems more plausible. I hate to say this but the fact that the maker of this video is (most likely) Shia is important to take into consideration. If Arabs give a "romanticized" version of history a lot of Shia are polar opposites, both are harmful. So far I believe he's done a good job of trying to be as neutral as possible giving the good and bad during their reign. He even claimed that what really happened is "confusing and contradictory" 14:30. Anyways the next episode will be very interesting.
As muslims we believe this life is a test, so God will test someone to see if he loves and obeys God or not, this even includes the khalifas. So people will make mistakes, humans are prone to mistakes, we can't be perfect.
Shirvan, I have read many books on Islam, but the way you go through it is simply fantastic, well paced, organized and with a great sense of context, congratulations my friend, you have been getting better and better through the years. I continued to be a long standing admire of your work and you have never disapointed. Keep iy up my friend.
I am a Christian, and although I have read parts of the Qhuran to better understand Islam as a religion (because being judgy is very stereotypical of Christians, and I believe that we should love others, no matter what their religions, race or affiliations), I did not know much about Islam history. This helped me a lot for an article I had to write for work. Thank you for providing such amazing and accurate history.
Leader of an empire yet he had no security guards like the byzantine empire or the Persia empire and was living of bread .... may god have mercy on you and the leaders who are like you
You have a fair enough reporting of history. Some people are indeed not used to hear truths because they are brought up following what their fathers told them and they never use their own mind. Thank you fro the work you do.
I am really impressed about the extende of your knowledge about a history so diffigurated by propaganda those days, and the most amazing is that you don't know arabic, amazing effort that can be expected omly from a brilliant geopolitician.
We need more documentaries like these. Many modern day Muslims especially from the south & south east asia did not have correct islamic history education. I thank the people from caspian report who undertook this endeavour.
@@gotzdien1384 He lack managerial skills BUT THAT'S DOES MEAN HE WAS CORRUPT. SOMETIMES HUMANS DO MAKE MISTAKE WITH A PURE HEART .And prophet(pbuh) himself has said the rightly guided caliphs (Abu bakr, Umar,Usman Ali) will rule for 30 years
This is actually informative even to me someone who studied this stuff in school to death. The thing is they hide a lot of details from you and make sure that you see the caliphs as holy beings more than human beings and rarely talk about their mistakes.
He was too old to govern. People of Medina chose Ali as the third khalif, but the prophet's closest friends in the end chose Uthman. The reason being, I think, was to avoid a blood dynasty once Ali gets in power. Little did they know that it was actually the ummayah's family long intention to create that blood dynasty that the prophet's friends feared. Therefore they infiltrated through all the positions through uthman who was old and frail but also too naive to recognise. The "old guards" (people like Ali &co) were too honourable to protest against the naivity of the khalifah and let the things to take the turn they did take. Many avoided confrontations, such as Ali's family or the omar's family. They were the wisest and most noble families but had no great ambitions as the ummayas had. Eventhough Ali and his sons became briefly khalifs, none of them wanted it. They were pushed into it.
History is amazing. Every civilization, especially that of early Islam, plays out like Game of Thrones! Who will win between Muawiyah Lannister and Ali Targaryen???
William Caballero In the 4th part, the Muslim version of Petyr Baelish will surface, the one who orchastrated everything and gave rise to extremist Islamist organizations.
CaspianReport That's awesome. I'm very interested in learning more and I find your videos to be very well done and informative. I play a game called CRUSADER KINGS 2, which starts in the year 876, with the Umayyads controlling the caliphate from Spain to Persia, and have wondered how they came to power. Very interesting!
William Caballero Both Muawiya(ra) and Ali(ra) are respected companions of the Prophet pbuh both had a dispute both fought as well but the Muslims (85% sunnis) do not speak bad of any companions even with their short commings. How ever shia(15% sect) hard core side with Ali(ra) and hate the majority of the companions of the Prophet pbuh because of these political disputes which is one reason why majority of Muslim see shia as idiots(they hold long grudges)
Mohamed Mo The sources I trust say it was one of the rebel leaders who wrote the letter determined to topple the caliph there is no way Muawiya(ra) was involved he was not even in the region he was far up north. That stuff seems like shia propaganda to me to build hatred against Muwiya(ra). Muawiya(ra) and uthman(ra) were also very close relatives
Mohamed Mo You can read about him here www.sunniforum.com/forum/showthread.php?33431-Marwan-ibn-al-Hakim He was very old by the time of Uthman(ra) khilafah. The Shia spread many false hadith and propaganda to malign the image of the other khalifs and companions. Though Marwan perhaps was not a great person early on sunni scholors do not believe he was involved in writing the letter but shia do
Hm. it seems like Uthman was a bit if a disaster, outside of increasing the state's wealth. Money is not everything it seems, and perhaps businessmen are not the greatest heads of state.
Well, that's arguable.. He was a businessman who mastered striking a deal and being diplomatic.. But he was arguably too nice and indecisive to rule basically, and too dependent on his family members who proved to be corrupt in many cases of course.. This resulted in the gradual creation of an economic and political elite.. And given that Islam was up to that point both anti-establishment and anti-aristocracy, those developments basically changed the dynamics of politics in the state irreversibly
Bear in mind that in Arabia, the concept of centralized authority and Aristocracy were both unfamiliar and unacceptable.. After all, those were tribesmen who wouldn't accept the direct authority of anyone other than the person they elected
Its amazing how the forefathers of the islamic faith has such an rich and vast inner world, the responsabilities that had faced that could create things that were such ahead of their era, and all with that humbleness that its shocking.
"Indeed I fear for my Ummah the imāms of misguidance - and when the sword is drawn between them, it will not be withdrawn until the Day of Resurrection (judgement day)" Abu Dawood (4252)
Hey Shirvan! I really like your way of telling History and current Events, well done! Was wondering if you know of any Channels / Broadcasts doing the same for Eastern Hisory (Japanese, Chinese, Korean and so on..). Keep up the good work, always happy to see your Videos and learn something new! :)
Hkuba Objectively speaking, there is no such thing as Real history I am just glad that this video talks about the politics of that time and not tilted towards religion for the benefit of the politics of our time
GOT TOSA True that, history has many facets. Most of which will remain a mystery. I just don't want people hearing one point of view and perceiving them as facts. It's not a healthy mindset. Not claiming you do that just generally :)
Great work; you are one of the very few people I know who understands Islamic history yet tells it very neutrally rather than the idealized way sunni's and shia tell it. My only issue is that I wish you'd dive into more details and go through the developments of character that happen to show the human side of the historical figures more than the idealized biased version usually told. Though I understand you are going for a more detailed summary format rather than 1 hour videos on each segment.
During Ali as, Caliphate Islam recieved the best justice and equality in history of man kind ever experienced. Ali counted from every born child and give them same share of the wealth from goverment. One of Ali brother Aqil, was belind he had enjured from batlle during Mohammad sa, conquering of mecca, he was poor He wen t to Ali to ask for more money, after an arguement with Ali, Ali put a hot sword close to his hand and said if you cant bear this heat, then how can i bear the heat of hell, This is not my money its peoples money they all receive the share as you do. Aqil got angry and went to Damascus to Muawya, Muawya offered him food and 3000 gold coins and a new arabic dress with golden buttons, Muawya demaned Aqil to go to Damscus mosque and say all bad things about Ali government to people and good things about Muawya, When Aqil went mosque then refused to give speech, Aqil said if Muawya give me all Damascus i would not lie about the justce and equality of Ali.
+Piotr Błaszkiewicz Hi Piotr, like Caspian Report I am making videos about international affairs. The style is a bit different though. I am trying as hard as possible to make good videos, but I do not have many people to watch them. As you love Caspian Report I think that maybe you could be interested by my channel! Anyway, I would be soooo glad if you could have a look and tell me what you think! (I recommend the last episode)
+IA2009 No but there was an analogue in the arab culture, not sure about the name tho it's like a tube you smoke from. You can still see pictures of old arabs/turks using it
If this is not proof that greed is the root of great evil in the world i dont know what it is. When it comes to losing wealth, there is nothing people wont do.
Nice video, just curious to know where do you get your information from? The last part of this video is a bit confusing, just want to double check my info the assassination.
I'm very impressed by your work and research, very few historians tell you about the true history of Islam. the problem with history of Islam is that either it's told by Sunni or Shia perspective, I'm born in a Muslim household but consider myself to be an agnostic. Most Muslims don't agree that slavery existed in early days of Islam but the fact is that it did exist. how the politics for power corrupted them, how they justified their invasions and how they alerted the meaning of jihad. so for this is one of the most neutral history of Islam I've seen.. keep up the good work.
עילי מרטון That is actually a super interesting map. It was an upside down map of the world: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/a1/TabulaRogeriana_upside-down.jpg/300px-TabulaRogeriana_upside-down.jpg
עילי מרטון It's called the 'Tabula Rogeriana', one of the earliest and most sophisticated world maps dating back to the 12th century. It was compiled by a Moroccan scholar who used the sources and chronicles of distant-travellers, Viking voyages and Muslim and Christian pilgrimages.
CaspianReport Since the map is upside down, I'm sure that the Muslims probably had a different perspective of what area of the world wore the pants. Reminds me of this map: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/87/1581_Bunting_clover_leaf_map.jpg/1280px-1581_Bunting_clover_leaf_map.jpg Which showed Jerusalem as the Middle of the world. I think that you could add something in your next videos about the Muslims view of themselfs and others in the world stage. Would be very interesting.
Islam doesn't seem all that bad if you don't think about the terrorists, you get to marry multiple women n shit. Just wished they weren't so homophobic, but that's with all religions.
***** I never said there was anything wrong with it. Also, people having multiple girlfriends aren't considered "playas", they are considered "assholes".
***** How interesting. To be honest my first comment was a bit of a joke, of course I'd like to marry 4 hot babes but it's not very modern or nice imo. In fact I don't even want to, I myself can only love one woman at the time and I think that's true for most men. I think by the logic in your comment you shouldn't be allowed to marry more than 1 woman anymore at this day and age. However it would mean that you don't take the Quran 100% accountable since you use the "at the time and place" argument, I don't think a lot of hardcore Muslims will agree with that. But what I find interesting that according to you the Quran doesn't mention homosexuals, that's good to know. But I wonder why are many Muslims who've read the Quran multiple times and study it a lot, so homophobic? What is their motive, I mean a lot of them claim it's because of their beliefs.
***** Thanks for telling me this. Personally I'm atheist so I will never believe in anything supernatural, and I do believe in the Quran it says those people should be killed...
Mohammed only had one daughter, the one Ali married named Fatima Zahra. Also you forgot to mention the fact that the people of Kufa caught their Ummayah governor drunk during prayers. So that was one reason why he was kicked out of Kufa. You also forgot to mention that Marwan killed a Sahaba by that arrow, Muawiya and Uthman also killed a few companions of Mohammed, especially Abu Zar Al-Ghiffarah, he was exiled to a desert where he died of hunger and thirst, his crime? he protested and spoke against Muawiya against the oppression and injustice he committed. Ali was also forced to take up the Caliphate, he refused to take it because it had become too corrupt, he wanted it from the start so that the 3 fallible beings do not cause this corruption, the corruption which the 3 did cause. Ali also declared that he will not accept the rules and innovations of the previous 3, he would rule in his own way, the Islamic way. You keep forgetting to mention the innovations made by the 3 into Islam, the Islamic Laws they broke.
Son OF Ishmael Ahhh the follower of Ibn Wahab, the son who was disowned by his Father, who only came to be important because of the Saudi family and who was a clear Nawasib. How do you take Salafi/Wahabism as a trusted religion when it is only around 150 years? Cmon you are just Wahabi, you and your beheading and hate against everyone who is not Wahabi.
there is a channel called wesal farsy .talk about shitee and sunna and thousands of shitte in iran and the world became sunni. search about it on internet . t present almost in many tb satellite
Did you read Destiny Disrupted: A History of the World Through Islamic Eyes by Tamim Ansary? I am not accusing you of stealing, but a lot of your Islamic historical videos sounds like the details in his book. I mean that as a compliment, it is a very good book. Either way, I'm a fan your videos.
Daddy McHotloads I've used a number of variable sources including Ansary, Aslan and Esposito, these are sources from the Western-Muslims school of thought. However, I've also used several prominent Azeri-Russian sources such as Hasanli, Vakilov and Aliyarli. And off course, for quotes, I've used al-Tabari (at least what is available of his work in our libraries). For other videos, for example on Turkish/Ottoman history or on the Iran/Persian history, I’ve used specific books on those subjects.
CaspianReport Wow! Like I said before, I am a huge fan of your channel and just got excited that you even responded. I really loved Ansary's book, especially that he told the history from the view of Muslims, and not sound like an unbiased history book. I also enjoyed his book on Afghanistan (Games Without Rules). Thank you for the list of sources - I will definitely check them out. I was raised Catholic, but I am obsessed with the history of Islamic culture - especially the Iberian Peninsula conquest around the 8th century, and the Mongol invasion around the 13th century. Speaking of which, I (and your subscribers) will enjoy a video about the Siege of Baghdad and the events leading up to it. Please keep up the work and do you have a link for donations?
*For those who are still confused with such thing as "cults", *please allow me to help clearing the water a little bit* *Definition of Cult: a belief system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object* Figure = Person, Images, a living creature's bodily shape, ect Object = a material thing that can be touched, *contemplate this* Christian = Following the belief system of a person named Jesus *Christ* (Figure) Buddhist = Following the belief system of a person named Siddhārtha Gautama Hindu = Following the belief system of local place named Indus River (Object/ name of places) read also the historic local name for the Indus River in the northwestern part of the Indian *Islam* Is the only name of belief system that the derived from the purest word on earth *Arabic*, Slm "Salam", & استسلام because the name came from the same root, so it it has 5 meaning simultaneously "Sincerity, Surrender, Submission, Obedience, Peace" So please use your intellect & free-will which one of all religions that has the purest monotheistic teaching even just simply by contemplating on the names?
Zarrov Firstly He did not embed his name (Muhammad PBUH) to the name of the Religion. Secondly Name Of Muhammad (PBUH) in the Qur'an is the least mentioned in the Quran. The Quran Mostly mentioning the teaching of Moses, this proofed that The only Mission of Prophet Muhammad [PBUH] was to resurrect the purest monotheism of Prophet Moses, just like Jesus [PBUH] when he used to teach his disciples with 10 commandments from Torah!
I'm muslim and I call bullshit on your analogy, just because the religion was not named after Mohammad PBUH does not mean it's not the following of his teachings, Muslims uphold Mohammad as high as Christians do with Jesus, in fact muslims would ignore you if you cursed allah but kill you if you curse the prophet
The Qur'an was revealed in 7 different dialects, recently in San'a Yemen in the 70's a renovation of a ancient mosque led to the discovery of precious scrolls of the Qur'an written in the Himyar dialect which is the dialect of the Yemenis. What Uthman (ra) did was standardize the book, making the dialect of the Hijaz (region where Makkah and Medina) is located the dominant dialect for the Qur'an to be recited in. Besides this, he re-arranged the chapters making it from the longest i.e the 2nd chapter of the Qur'an being over 280 verses long, to the smallest i.e the 114th chapter being 6 verses long. The content remained the same, Uthman (ra) was one of the earliest Muslims and had memorized the entire Qur'an orally from the Prophet (pbuh) himself, him being a man of unmovable faith there is no room for assumptions as to whether he added or removed certain verses. Up until this day there are people who still transmit the Qur'an in it's entirety orally, and they date this tradition to the circles of the Prophet (pbuh).
One explanation to be made here is,that the Quran was a verbal revelation different Arab tribes used to read in differenent accent and similarly used to write down in their own accent.Prophet,Abubaker,Omer allowed it to happen but Uthman sensing a possible conflict in future made a ruling that no other accent except the accent of prophet's tribe will be accepted. All Quran written in other accent were dismantled.
I do question the piety of these first leaders. It sounds to good to believe. After all we are talking about humans, right? and we are talking about leaders responsible for killing and pillaging all over, so let's not be naive. I guess your sources are the traditional themes that were chosen by the establishment. With that, I do thank you for this wonderful review
Mohamed Mo No a better reality... not some imagined fairyland called hell or heaven. haha I realised that hell was a fable when I was 8 years old sitting in Church. Sorry to hear that your cognitive abilities are shit.
Mohamed Mo It's history and influences a lot of stupid people, like yourself. I want to understand the world, sadly religion still plays a large shitty part in it. And I'm agnostic btw.
Mohamed Mo Oh right because agnostics can't show interest in Islamic history/ tradition. *facepalm* People can be interested in societies/ cultures/ ideas that they wouldn't want to live in/ under.
Mohamed Mo No I haven't because it doesn't make any sense. Could you imagine heaven, a place were everything is perfect and nobody suffers.... the most boring wankfest for all of eternity.
why did you even say that nonsense?? seriously i want to under you kind of people..you know you are laying doing that same thing that iba saba(if he did what he did) did..divide muslim nation..are we not already underattack by from all sides...
Uthman (la) was killed by the people of Madina, the Egyptians also helped in the killing of Uthman (la). Uthman (la) was a tyrant, he took the entire taxes of Africa and gave it to one of his family members. He (may God Curse him) would take part in torturing people who opposed him, he was the third worse tyrant. He oppressed the successors of the Holy Prophet (saww) and the people so the people killed him. They did kill him in the wrong way though trying to siege him and his family in his palace, Imam Ali (asws) wanted him to be trialed and then killed for his crimes as his murder gave people like Aisha and Muawiya (la) an excuse to fight Imam Ali (asws) after him in the name of avenging Uthman (la) even though they caused the death of Uthman (la). Aisha (la) would call for his death and get people to oppose him after he stopped giving her unjust amounts of money, Muawiya (la) said he would send an army to save him but purposely held them back as he was waiting for him to be killed so he could call for revenge against him and then take over after him.
+Amar Abidali So you come here, and in stead of learning something or listening to other point of views, you come to spread the rubbish that you were taught by the Imams, who themselves copied from the rubbish and biased history books. The only reason people do that is to protect themselves and keep the their own community bonded together. Wake up, Shia & Sunni are nothing but political factions who fight over old and uncertain events, backed up by lies and illusions. You're profile picture is disgusting and shows how brainwashed you are, which makes you no different from the fanatic Sunni slaves.
It was actually Ali (LA), who conspired against the caliph Uthman(RA) and got him killed by mohammed ibn Abubakar to capture the caliphate. All the people who were involved in the Shahada of Uthman(RA) were not only protected by Ali(LA) but also fought along side ali in the battles of Siffin and Jamal.
thats such a great summary of othman's rein as a khalifa , as humble and a good hearted man that he was its a fact that internal struggle of the islamic khalifet began with him , his biggest mistake is that he trusted his own family or "tribe" members to take control which were in no shape or form as a humble or good intentioned as he was , he paved the way for the fith khalifa muawiya (his own cousin) to take control of the leader ship after Ali which ended the rein of the democratic voting system and thus the end of the rashideen khalifet . that was the ultimate curse to islam and the beginning of the decline of the morality of the islamic state by the umaya empire , first thing muawiya did was implement a system of succession father to son to grandson which is really a system that is still prevalent till this day with the arab counties
It's really interesting to listen to other people's opinions about Islam, that's me speaking as a Muslim. This might be hard to believe, but the vast majority of Muslims would disagree with your narration. I'm assuming it would sound more interesting if you narrate the story the way you did. I understand where this comes from, as you don't know who's credible and who's not...the dilemma. Needless to say (again), it's always interesting listening to your reports.
I love to listen to non Muslim story about Islam because they will not romantize the character but I love the islamic scholar also because it has a heart I felt it more...but still this is a good video unbiased...keep up the good work.
Note how the narrator tries to answer present day confusions and doubts about the Islamic doctrine by these historical events. Also in a clever manner he passively indicates how Islam though violent is less violent compared to the contemporary Sassanid and Byzantine empire. [example- the reconquering of the Sassanid empire cities were more violent than the original conquering. That cleverly fabricated comment says it all] These things make me wonder if his stance on the subject is completely unbiased and scholarly.
what movie or darama footage was used in this video series which depicts Hazrat AbuBakr and Umar and Ali and Usman ? What is the name of that movie/darama?
You forgot to add during the time of Uthman, This was the period China and Islam began connecting. Uthman sent Saad bin Abi Waqqas as a delegation to China.
@CaspianReport Good video and analysis as always Shirvan. such an eye opener to listen to this report. May I know the name of books that you refer for this video? I would to read it in the near future. Thanks
It is a good and moderate narration of accounts from a western non-Muslim however I think lack of access to classical Islamic sources to the author makes the video lacking. The author should also consult the classical Islamic sources like the books of Hadith, history (in addition to that of atTabari), and specific books. Ibn Taimiyyah and his students particularly ibn Kathir is a good source.
What is your source on uthman RA reordering the Qur'an. From what I just researched he pretty much made sure all the Qur'ans matched the one of quraysh dialect, which is what it was revealed in... I can't find anything saying he REORDERED the Qur'an...
Hazrat Usman (R.A.) giving political posts to his own clan and removing prohibition of acquiring land were the two biggest political mistakes which caused a lot of trouble down the line. O man, I wish this didn't happen. Alas! I recommend people reading Khilafat o Malukiyat by Moulana Maududi.
"Received reports that he was starving Egyptians to double his taxes/tribute" - you brushed over that rather quickly. That aside I do appreciate the limited bias history of Islam, you're not trying to convert me and the bias' are extremely obvious so they can be taken into consideration as I learn. The funny thing is, when you take "God" out of history, a lot of people of very different religions learn to do the same things: control of your diet, personal health and hygiene, medicine, civil laws, police force, military, philosophy/poetry, education, social welfare, increased crop yields, etc... But when you add religion back in many of these become commandments from God/s or gifts from God/s and the age of their discovery almost always predates their religious adoption by some time. You even see it with groups like Morman's (attempt at Bible revisionism to excise the inconsistencies), and scientology (capitalistic pseudo-psychology turned religion). The best proof of this is to look at China/Eastern Asia at the same point in time as events occur in the west - China has had no great prophet, and practically no deistic state religion for several thousand years and for a long time led the world in innovation, they only faltered from a lack of military innovation brought on by a preference for diplomacy over war and then Western intervention in East Asia's military development.
even today there are surviving quorans from this period and they are different from those of today, as the standard verison wasn't decided before 1925 from a Egyptian version.
+CaspianReport Re 9:30 Actually we don't know if Othman's Koran is the same one we're using today. The oldest manuscripts of the Koran that we have today are the Sanaa manuscripts, which go back to the mid-Umeyyad period (the time of the Caliph Abdelmalek Ibn Marwan, according to Gerd Puin the German scholar who studied them), and yet they differ a bit from the one we have today. The Yemeni authorities have seized them and locked them away, to prevent any further study, so we don't know if there are any other differences to be found in these manuscripts. Also, according to British historian and Arabist Alfred Guillaume, in his book "Islam" (chapter 3, page 58, in the edition that I have), there was another version of the Koran, which was used in Kufa in Iraq, until around the year AD 1000. Islamic tradition also hints to the fact that some parts of the Koran may have been lost, altered or added.
I have to correct you, he married the second daughter of the prophet when the older one died. he was not married to both of the prophet's daughter at the same time.
I am a Hindu and when I discuss history of Islam with my Muslim friends, they just listen to me. They never say but I know they are impressed.
I AM NEVER TELLING THEM THAT I AM SUBSCRIBED TO YOUR CHANNEL.
Prashu Anand keep up the good work, id be impressed too
Prashu Anand LOL, you just made my day :)
CaspianReport Cheers to you and your channel mate.
Aditya Fantastic Idea.
This is much better than GOT, because this happened in real life!
seriously?
we got warned there's gonna be drama
The interesting thing is how everything, one step at a time, gets more and more corrupt.
james turd That's originl, coming from someone whose a self confessed piece of shit
Uthman married the second daughter of the prophet after the first one died. It's illegal in Islam to marry two sisters at the same time.
Thank u for clarifying this Islamic rule for non Muslims

Who us this guy? His points are accurate and the direction of his analysis points always at the right path. No excess words are used and the flow of information is well adjusted. This is how history should be taught in the first place
+Harris Fahiridis You should check out his other videos too! His lack of bias and fresh perspective are my favourite things about his videos.
+Harris Fahiridis "it is me Sheervan"
+Harris Fahiridis Yea he's good ,and not biased i noticed that .
+Guy From Arabia I find his voice to be quite annoying sometimes
agree I subscribed an hour ago.
You're a great storyteller, my friend! I didn't have the slightest idea of how epic this story was! I know very little about the Middle East (I'm from Brazil), but I got curious about the history of the Islam. Your videos are doing great in explaining it, and I thank you for that! Keep up the good work!
By the way, I think you should make a podcast with Dan Carlin from Hardcore History ;)
Cheers!
Leonardo Amaral yesss with dan fuckin Carlin ❤️
So we learnt a lot of things
FINALLY I understand the seeds of the fitna. Thank you very much !
To me, as a christian westerner, the assassination of Uthman by muslims is the very sad moment where the religious enthousiasm leaves room to usual politics.
It wasn't the assasinatiin of Umar that led to fitna it was the election of Abu bakr
Muslim world will forever suffer from fitna, with the direction we're going.
thanks for the great video, its refreshing to see a neutral documentary, rather than arab one, which tends to slightly romanticize our history
Ahmidsviper haha buddy. go to any proper historical source and ull get better history. even wikipedia has better islamic history than this shia propaganda.
thats not what i meant, and you have no idea what you're talking about
zorin leroy Thank for all the evidence and mature criticism. That totally wasn't a childish rant.
Once again EXCELLENT video sir!

I have a bit suspicion on muawiya. He seems like the mastermind of all of this
+probo rahadianto You could say, he was the real life "Little Finger", since he was able to break the first and only real Islamic Empire.
+probo rahadianto 100% orchestrated by Muawiya. The letter, the arrow - everything.
+probo rahadianto Basically, some people even mentions that H.Muawiya's charactor was made of Justice for H.Uthman's assasination+ Greed for rulership.
marwan bin hakm is said to be behind all of this
The next episode explains it. Question is.., did the conspirator was paid by muawiyah
Leader of an empire yet he had no security guards like the byzantine empire or the Persia empire and was living of bread .... may god have mercy on you and the leaders who are like you
@@MuhammadAhmed-qh7ut ramadan Kareem akhi
You have a fair enough reporting of history. Some people are indeed not used to hear truths because they are brought up following what their fathers told them and they never use their own mind. Thank you fro the work you do.
I am really impressed about the extende of your knowledge about a history so diffigurated by propaganda those days, and the most amazing is that you don't know arabic, amazing effort that can be expected omly from a brilliant geopolitician.
We need more documentaries like these. Many modern day Muslims especially from the south & south east asia did not have correct islamic history education. I thank the people from caspian report who undertook this endeavour.
You mean Arab history, right?
iam arab ...and islam is not for the arabs only...he is for everybody and this is what our prophet preached
We love uthman may Allah be pleased with him
@Rob Moreno my guy you replied after 5 years
@@gotzdien1384 He lack managerial skills BUT THAT'S DOES MEAN HE WAS CORRUPT. SOMETIMES HUMANS DO MAKE MISTAKE WITH A PURE HEART .And prophet(pbuh) himself has said the rightly guided caliphs (Abu bakr, Umar,Usman Ali) will rule for 30 years
Been waiting for part four for a month !
This is actually informative even to me someone who studied this stuff in school to death. The thing is they hide a lot of details from you and make sure that you see the caliphs as holy beings more than human beings and rarely talk about their mistakes.
Great work. Compiling so much info in just 20 mins
Uthman’s first mistake, of being a caliph, was nepotism
@@vinlondon8904Wow i am impressed to your perspective of Ummayad treachery moves. You are not even Muslim but you are correct on what you said
History is amazing.
Mohamed Mo You can read about him here
www.sunniforum.com/forum/showthread.php?33431-Marwan-ibn-al-Hakim
He was very old by the time of Uthman(ra) khilafah. The Shia spread many false hadith and propaganda to malign the image of the other khalifs and companions. Though Marwan perhaps was not a great person early on sunni scholors do not believe he was involved in writing the letter but shia do
All your videos are awesome!
Eagerly waiting for the 4th part.
Ignore the haters. Keep up the good work. Thank you Caspian Report.
Hm. it seems like Uthman was a bit if a disaster, outside of increasing the state's wealth.
Uhm Donald Trump brother?
Exactly
Ali said
"Never made a business your leader"
He's a person who will spend all of his wealth to this ummah
Its amazing how the forefathers of the islamic faith has such an rich and vast inner world, the responsabilities that had faced that could create things that were such ahead of their era, and all with that humbleness that its shocking.
This is, in my opinion, the best Caspian report, well researched and balanced. Thanks Shirvan

One of Ali brother Aqil, was belind he had enjured from batlle during Mohammad sa, conquering of mecca, he was poor
He wen t to Ali to ask for more money, after an arguement with Ali,
Ali put a hot sword close to his hand and said if you cant bear this heat, then how can i bear the heat of hell,
This is not my money its peoples money they all receive the share as you do.
Aqil got angry and went to Damascus to Muawya, Muawya offered him food and 3000 gold coins and a new arabic dress with golden buttons,
Muawya demaned Aqil to go to Damscus mosque and say all bad things about Ali government to people and good things about Muawya,
When Aqil went mosque then refused to give speech, Aqil said if Muawya give me all Damascus i would not lie about the justce and equality of Ali.

Uthman never drank nor SMOKED ?!?!
Did cigarettes exist 1400 years ago ??
+IA2009 No but there was an analogue in the arab culture, not sure about the name tho it's like a tube you smoke from. You can still see pictures of old arabs/turks using it
+TheWoodstock2009 you mean shisha or hookah ?
That was invented hundreds of years after uthmans death xD
YESSS He smoked Winston!!
Yeah I was very surprised by that, to the point that I thought Shirvan just made it up
Before the discovery of the new world and the importation of tobacco by Europeans, Middle-Easterners smoked cannabis in hookahs and pipes.
If this is not proof that greed is the root of great evil in the world i dont know what it is. When it comes to losing wealth, there is nothing people wont do.
Excellent documentary!
This is amazing. Any chance you could do one on the History of Christianity?
Nice video, just curious to know where do you get your information from? The last part of this video is a bit confusing, just want to double check my info the assassination.
Never smoked? were there Marlboro or Winston back then?
Dotatchin K 😂
+Brise Frais cannabis was already been smoke in that region
What are you talking about? cannabis does not grow in the mid east! secondly i'm sure he meant cigarettes lools
initially cannabis was brought to europe by napoleon's soldiers after the conquest of egypt ... egypt is not in the north pole
True but the narrater meant cigerattes
eagerly waiting for part 4! love all your videos Shirvan!
When will part 4 come up?
***** Thanks!
Where are the maps in the video from? I really want to see the map presented in 6:28 - 7:05 !!!
עילי מרטון That is actually a super interesting map.
It was an upside down map of the world:
upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/a1/TabulaRogeriana_upside-down.jpg/300px-TabulaRogeriana_upside-down.jpg
Why upside down? It seems northside up like todays maps, to me!
Where did it come from? Who created it?
עילי מרטון Look at the top of the picture, the title is actually upside down.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad_al-Idrisi#Tabula_Rogeriana
עילי מרטון It's called the 'Tabula Rogeriana', one of the earliest and most sophisticated world maps dating back to the 12th century. It was compiled by a Moroccan scholar who used the sources and chronicles of distant-travellers, Viking voyages and Muslim and Christian pilgrimages.
CaspianReport Since the map is upside down, I'm sure that the Muslims probably had a different perspective of what area of the world wore the pants.
Reminds me of this map:
upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/87/1581_Bunting_clover_leaf_map.jpg/1280px-1581_Bunting_clover_leaf_map.jpg
Which showed Jerusalem as the Middle of the world.
I think that you could add something in your next videos about the Muslims view of themselfs and others in the world stage.
Would be very interesting.
Any reference of the point made at 1:40 that his wives denounced him? How did that happened.?
Islam doesn't seem all that bad if you don't think about the terrorists, you get to marry multiple women n shit. Just wished they weren't so homophobic, but that's with all religions.
***** I never said there was anything wrong with it. Also, people having multiple girlfriends aren't considered "playas", they are considered "assholes".
***** What do you mean one less excuse?
*****
Thanks for telling me this. Personally I'm atheist so I will never believe in anything supernatural, and I do believe in the Quran it says those people should be killed...
***** Does it literally say that?
Fascinating - I'd never considered how the economic and bureaucratic power of the early Islamic Empire contributed to its success.
This has helped me so much thank you so much
I realy like your little docu`s and your proffesional reports on geo political issues. Keep up the good work.

The Byzantine emperor meanwhile sips his wine thinking "Fucking noobs. You always keep a loyal army in the capital. Fucking always."
*For those who are still confused with such thing as "cults", *please allow me to help clearing the water a little bit*
*Definition of Cult: a belief system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object*
Figure = Person, Images, a living creature's bodily shape, ect
Object = a material thing that can be touched,
*contemplate this*
Christian = Following the belief system of a person named Jesus *Christ* (Figure)
Buddhist = Following the belief system of a person named Siddhārtha Gautama
Hindu = Following the belief system of local place named Indus River (Object/ name of places)
read also the historic local name for the Indus River in the northwestern part of the Indian
*Islam*
Is the only name of belief system that the derived from the purest word on earth *Arabic*, Slm "Salam", & استسلام because the name came from the same root, so it it has 5 meaning simultaneously "Sincerity, Surrender, Submission, Obedience, Peace"
So please use your intellect & free-will which one of all religions that has the purest monotheistic teaching even just simply by contemplating on the names?
handsomethecat XD
Islam-following the belief system of a person named Muhammad
Zarrov
Firstly He did not embed his name (Muhammad PBUH) to the name of the Religion. Secondly Name Of Muhammad (PBUH) in the Qur'an is the least mentioned in the Quran. The Quran Mostly mentioning the teaching of Moses, this proofed that The only Mission of Prophet Muhammad [PBUH] was to resurrect the purest monotheism of Prophet Moses, just like Jesus [PBUH] when he used to teach his disciples with 10 commandments from Torah!
handsomethecat yes yes, whatever you and your cult are funny.
Also just the way you think that this analogy is enough to convince people to leave their religion and join Islam is ridiculous
The Qur'an was revealed in 7 different dialects, recently in San'a Yemen in the 70's a renovation of a ancient mosque led to the discovery of precious scrolls of the Qur'an written in the Himyar dialect which is the dialect of the Yemenis.
What Uthman (ra) did was standardize the book, making the dialect of the Hijaz (region where Makkah and Medina) is
located the dominant dialect for the Qur'an to be recited in.
As an ex-Muslim i have to admit that history of Islam never was interesting to me until now thank you Shirvan.

Uthman chosed wealth over wisdom or decency, and ended up destroying the caliphate. A lesson the Sauds should learn as well.
Excellent video. I only wish the Islamic World had more rational and objective people like you OP
Thank you for giving education on this subject. I really appreciate your videos.
That cleverly fabricated comment says it all]
These things make me wonder if his stance on the subject is completely unbiased and scholarly.
what movie or darama footage was used in this video series which depicts Hazrat AbuBakr and Umar and Ali and Usman ? What is the name of that movie/darama?
I CANT WAIT TILL PART FOUR!
Poor Utsman and Ali
Live in time of fitna, good leader bad society. May Allah bless them more
You forgot to add during the time of Uthman, This was the period China and Islam began connecting.
Great Job!
Could you please let me know the name of the person who assassinated kaliph Uthman.
Kinana ibn Bishr al-Tujibi. The person that instructed him to kill Uthman, was Muhammad ibn Abu Bakr, son of Abu Bakr.
Very nice series.
From a present-day perspective, destroying all other editions of the holy book was unpardonable. We'll never know what was lost that day.
even today there are surviving quorans from this period and they are different from those of today, as the standard verison wasn't decided before 1925 from a Egyptian version.
@@Khasidonbullshit
@@NahintheW nope
I thought that Uthman was killed because he started giving more war spoils to the commanders than the soldiers?

Re 9:30
Actually we don't know if Othman's Koran is the same one we're using today.
I know you didn't say that in the video, but viewers might think otherwise.
you have amazing videos!
The Mosques And Harems and multiple other Arab Architecture is noteworthy for generations
