Very awesome and informative. Bravo! The middle easterners today need to show more respect for their pre-Islamic past. It is a remarkable history. Thanks for posting.
warm duck milk Oh, and where in my comments do you see anything racist? Please enlighten me. What is racism, do you know? Is Islam a race? Is Christianity a race? Is ignorance and cultural retardation relegated to a race? I certainly said nothing of the kind. If I call the North Korean culture a cult of personality is that racist? If I call Islam a cult of personality is that racist? You people have no concept of terms like "racism" or "critical thinking".
warm duck milk You have no idea. Many Arabs were Christian, many were Jewish. They were hardly ignorant. There was literature and culture. The Kufic alphabet was invented long before Islam. These people were all ignorant? You people still worship a form of the moon God. And if business calls me to work again in Arabia I will go. They need the expertise science and industry and we need the oil. It's a mutual arrangement. By the way, if Islam is a race, then so is Christianity. The Koran singles out Christianity and Judaism and Paganism for total contempt. It is even illegal to build a Church or Synagogue, or Hindu temple in Saudi Arabia. That my friend is RAW and EXPLICIT state sponsored racist bigotry. You are the ignorant fool, and hypocrite that you think you are condemning. Islam is on fire. Syria is hell. It is burning, go put it out, or the rest of the world will be forced to contain the flames.
Oh they are well aware of their rich history. Post WW2 saw a shift in control of the region, and arabs have been marginalized by Western groups because of the potential resource extraction. As a result, today, most westerners only know the propaganda of their nation state which reinforces middle easterners as the 'other' --- this is the only effective way to propel you citizenry into a mindset that enables a nation state to invade and extract resources from a region.
warm duck milk Don't sweat it man, the Amerifat in question literally has no clue how bad their education in world politicing and history is. They honestly don't understand how loaded and racist that statement really was. These fucks in western nations have been indoctrinated pretty hardcore, they just have no idea that even their good intentions are paved with hate an misinformation. I should know, product of US public schooling system here.. its a fucking joke. They stop education on the k-12 level at WW2, and its all pro american chest thumping of course. You should see the hilarity that the educational units that "touch" on the colonial conflict of Vietnam are, its fucking pathetic.
Love Cyrus and the Persians of that time. Zoroastrianism is an interesting religion. That area might be more peaceful if it still reigned. Cyrus was an inspiration of the American founders.
back then people would refer to a point in time by naming a famous event that happened the same as the point in time your trying to point out e.g. " i was born the year the twin towers were brought down" anyone who cant estimate the point in time this event happened is either an afghan or and an alien spy from another planet.
Aside from the very interesting summary history lesson for which I thank you, the thing that stands out is the cycle: Conquest, consolidation, expansion degeneration and then conquest again - and round and round we go to repeat .. again and again. Part of the 'human condition' I guess for ever more. An excellent report. Much appreciated! Very well done to you. Thank you very much. ..
OnGodspath Except it didn't. The Shanameh, Iranian intellectuals like Avicenna, the use of the Persian language, the fact that Zoroastrianism still exists even if only as a small minority, all proves that the Muslims did not "wiped out" Persian culture.
Minkki82 Sorry for responding late. No, they didn't. Zoraostrianism still exists and is still practiced, even if only by a few hundred thousand people. In fact, it has legal recognition by the state of Iran. Also, much of Zoroastrian literature was written around the Islamic period, the Muslims adopted the Shanameh, which is filled with Zoroastrian cosmology, as the national epic of Iran and Persian remained in use even when Arabic was the sacred language of Islam. Other aspects of Zoroastrian culture also remained with Muslims, like painting and architecture. For instance, Iranian Muslims have several portraits of Muhammad, and have a particular style of painting that owes to both Persian and foreign influence with the nations Persia had always traded with, like China and India.
Bacab You are partly right, Islam tried to wipe out Persian Culture but failed. Look at how passionately ISIS tries to wipe out minority today, If this is the case today, Can you imagine how barbaric Invading Islamic armies were 1000 years ago ?
Shaykh Al-Kuffari Its not bullshit its history dude. There were actual wars when Israel was a Judean country. it was from 1200 to 1000 BCE, Then again when it was re-established from 530 BCE to 70 CE .
+Rose Kahn Yes, he did. The time period was written about by the historian Flavius Josephus in "The Wars of the Jews" or "The Jewish War ". This was a very important time in history where the Romans destroyed the second temple in Jerusalem.
+Rose Kahn he also left out Armenian kingdom, and their empire expansion of 140 - 55 BC, a major empire of the region.. also the fact that their kingdom was never conquered by the alexander great.. there are some other kingdoms that he left out.. the narrator seems to be from the post-soviet country known as azerbaijan, they tend to make fictitious narratives to give historic validity to themselves for some reason.. e.g. he tried to squeeze in that name, there's no such thing as land of azerbaijan, coca cola is older than that name... there's a strange effort made these recent times by turkic authors to re-write the history, academic community is weary of this.
+SleepingCube Funny is that the pre-colonial (well, maybe not exactly "colonial", let's say "imperial" Middle East was pretty damn peaceful, what with being run by a handful of powerful kingdoms. Historical literature will show that European colonialism and imperialist interests combined with a terrible administration of decolonization in the region can be blamed for many of their woes today. Not all, evidently, but it was a very strong factor. As for contemporary events, the current instability in the region can also be attributed to "Western interests". Looking into, for example, oil interests in the region will show very decisive actions, be it the CIA-aided Iranian coup in '53 and the following oil state and revolution, or the whole OPEC affair. The Carter doctrine is essentially just that. Protect oil interests in the Persian Gulf at all costs. Likewise, knowing the US also helped finance an amalgamate of Syrian rebels which would engender the current instability and, whoops, Islamic State, is a sad consideration. A long destabilized region with a historical tendency to tension and strategic interests vying for control. We like to generalize, but the people of the region are not the whole problem. Seeing the current wars there is, though, very sad.
obviously he meant heaven and hell , plz dont start nitpicking , we should be thankfull that he wants to spend his time making this historically accurate mini docu
ward 21 I wasn't nitpicking, just highlighting what he said in the hopes that someone will see it from where he could put up an annotation or something to clarify what he meant. Just sounded confusing; I wonder what his first language is.
I assumed he was Arabic, and from the Caucasus, but he's chosen to explain in English and he speaks English well. "Hell and Hell" is a reasonable slip to make. Zaroastrionism is one of the most severe religions the world has ever seen; like Shakerism its so extreme they don't give thereselves room to propagate and expand-- they're diying off in this generation. Yet it is one of the reasons for modern Iran's esolation.
When a person talks about his religion and culture he becomes arrogant. He thinks his culture is the best. There no room to argue. He forgets that there were other cultures just a brilliant before his since civilization started. Cultures superimposed upon one another to improve the next. Historians know that.
@John Triplett I wish I'd get some references to some of your claims, I don't dispute them but there's just so many information all at once... Like scottish people are the ancestors of indians? The chromosome numbers... it's interesting part about the inner fight, i agree.

11:00 that people can't name Byzantine poets, philosophers, rulers or events is not due to the Byzantines not improving on Romans and Greeks but due to a general disinterest/ignorance about the Byzantine Empire.
Middle Persian proverb: _”heč afrāz nest ke šep ne hač peš, u heč šep nest ke afrāz ne hač pas.”_ “There is no peak not preceded by a trough, and there is no trough not followed by a peak.” ^ It sounds like a totally different language from the Arabic hybrid we call 'Persian' today. Spās!

yup until Your filthy imperialist and capitalist captured the world in the name of capitalism and colonize them .. Middle east was really bitter but after your satanic British occupation many suffer and still suffering because of this so call Jewish Zionism
The ancient persians established the satrapy system. They were great innovators. Darius the Great, Cyrus, and others are infinitely superior to the rulers of the weak Persian states that emerged after Islam. The Islamic Persian states were rather weak, they got taken over by hordes after all, and were constantly fighting the Islamic nations of India and the Ottomans, unsuccessfully I might add.
I agree that Zoroastrian Persia was a great civilization, although all things considered the Parthians were somewhat weak, you should agree. However, the Greeks accomplished great things, and Christian Rome (Byzantium to you I suppose) likewise accomplished great things. The cradle of civilization was definitely mesopotamia, but after the fall of Persia the center of civilization did move into Europe.
BlacK DusK look up Cyrus cylinder. It's the first charter of human rights. The Persians were very tolerant. against enslaving captured people ( which was the norm in those days. ) they kept captured cities happy, thereby avoiding revolt. Zoroastrian was a highly ethical religion. Look it up. Jason Reza Jorjani (scholar of Persian history)has a lot on tube. Horodetus the Greek historian also wrote very accurately about Zoroastrian
The argument about the Byzantine poets is quite an injustice one. The arts and culture at Byzantine times was all about Christianity, at its Eastern-Orhtodox way... So, after the fall of Byzantium to the Ottomans, all of this was somewhat lost, as its importance to the the Western Christians was at least low (both culturally and historically). If you study them more, you will discover something you gonna like.
A few corrections for you. Alexander founded the city of Alexandria, but the Pharos (lighthouse) was built by Ptolomey II more than fifty years after Alexander’s death. The real controversy about Alexander’s sacking of resisting cities isn’t that he sacked them, but that he didn’t sack EVERY city that he conquered! In most wars the destruction of the conquered was what normally happened. Think of the Sack of Rome by Alaric and the Visigoths. Rome surrendered and the Visigoths plundered the city for three days. Now, to something that archeologists are now theorizing. The famous Hanging Gardens of Babylon probably existed, but not in Babylon. The latest digs (interrupted by war) seem to indicate that the Gardens were in Nineveh. This is not yet settled but is an interesting take on history.
Please note that Islam has done and will continue to do all it can to erase this history. Apparently there's more than a few instances of Mohammed wiping out other cultures/religions, and Muslims consider it holy to mimic him. For example, it was Muslims that stripped the Great Pyramids of Egypt of their white stone facing for their mosques.

Yes, unfortunately, most of us are spoiled and ignorant. But I believe Crimea to be Russia's and not Ukraine's, both by resident population and historically, mister Ziboshchenko. Hey, what do Darth Vader's men call him, behind his back? --Vlad the Inhaler.

Crimea belongs to the Tartars they are the original people who settled the land and many still live in Crimea.
Since any statute of limitation has long passed since the Tatars' atrocities in expanding their Empire, perhaps the tiny remnant of their descendants may have some claim. But certainly not to reparations. They were vanquished by, who was it Catherine the Great?

Nicely done!
An excellent mini documentary. I learned a lot there about a period I knew little about. I love how you referenced events to more well known events happening around the same time. It puts it into context well. Credit to you.

Adding dates would make this video much better. Adding a timeline to visualize events in time sequence would make it perfect!
It works the opposite way with me, I can't visualise the sequence of events when the person keeps telling dates, but I can make it easily with the strategy he adopted in this video, just saying what was happening after what.
do you realize, of hell it would awaken??
of threads and comments.. of dispute, ,and senseless arguments.

warm duck milk Oh, and where in my comments do you see anything racist?

Wow! I can't believe Caspian Report YT channel has been posting such informative videos for 8+ years !! 🤘
I think it is a great shame the way that islam wiped out the Persian culture and Zoroastrianism.
OnGodspath Except it didn't. The Shanameh, Iranian intellectuals like Avicenna, the use of the Persian language, the fact that Zoroastrianism still exists even if only as a small minority, all proves that the Muslims did not "wiped out" Persian culture.
Minkki82
- sarcasm, right?
rencrow Hi rencrow - The Byzantines were not responsible for the elimination of the Persian 'culture'. That was wholly due to the islamic incursions.
Minkki82
Sorry for responding late.
You left out that the Romans sacked Jerusalem/Israel in 70AD.
Roman historian Cassius Dio is more reliable than judeo-christian bullshit mythology and he exposed the jews as what they really were.
+Rose Kahn he also left out Armenian kingdom, and their empire expansion of 140 - 55 BC, a major empire of the region.. also the fact that their kingdom was never conquered by the alexander great.. there are some other kingdoms that he left out.. the narrator seems to be from the post-soviet country known as azerbaijan, they tend to make fictitious narratives to give historic validity to themselves for some reason.. e.g. he tried to squeeze in that name, there's no such thing as land of azerbaijan, coca cola is older than that name... there's a strange effort made these recent times by turkic authors to re-write the history, academic community is weary of this.
he left out a lot more than that...
it was mostly jargon! Turk jargon never turn your back to them...

Good upload.
Sad to see civilization end where it started.

Pre islamic Persia are so interesting!
read about the Islamic Persia and you will know that Islamic Persia was way more suprior
I thought this was america ! He said interesting not superior
The Parthians were Persian, I don't know about the Medes.
I love Persia and what they contributed to all civilizations, including the Human Rights which is the ground for every human rights up today!

Thank you, I don’t find many videos that I can watch. I’m gonna look for more now!
This was amazing, really well put together
Thank you for that brief history lesson. Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.
