Cool. I think I'd remove those touch sensors if I did this though. Touch sensors are so unreliable, and those options are in the OSD, so as far as I'm concerned the touch sensors can go in the trash where they belong.
The bat pad on the the ips kit is optional. It's just so you can see battery levels. Which doesn't work very well depending on what kind of batteries you use.
That screen looks great! Nice video! I’m thinking of doing this mod once I find a new shell I like. I’m curious what this does to the battery life. Is it still pretty good or will you be burning through those AAAs?
Congrats, another enyoable video! brw great and nice looking mod, also one of the easiest (with the right tools) and cleanest to install. As someone said, touch controls are feature but just unnecessary.
so correct me if im wrong, if you don't setup the menu you can use the touch sensors, but if you plan to use the menu you can ditch the touch sensors all together ?
It's very misleading how easily you made it look to solder the wires to the A, B, Sel vias. Those are conformally coated and are a nightmare to get solder to flow into
I’m not sure what to say about that. I try to film everything as I do it. With the right tools it’s not too difficult to get solder to bond to those vias
@@LIRetroGaming Maybe different board revisions didn't have as much coating but my board in particular was near impossible to get solder to wick down into the via

Ive got one and I'm really happy with it. Chose to go with a glow in the dark shell.
Wow I was really surprised to see how good that scanline effect looks, nice mod
My favorite part of Fridays. Great mod, thanks for showing us the install.
I got this with the same shell. Really
pleased with the quality. Add in an everdrive 😎
Yes that is the perfect combination!

so dont install it
Man, that mod is sharp! Great video!
I always love seeing you do a new mod (or even an old one) on a Friday morning.

It does shorten the battery life unfortunately. I’m hoping that a rechargeable battery solution gets developed for the pocket too!
Congrats, another enyoable video!

Nice mod ❤️😀
I dont have any soldering Equipment/ experience. Can i use the Screen without soldering? Are the wires only for the osd?
Correct, it’s only for the OSD so you don’t have to install those wires
cool
Link's Awakening 🥰
The screen comes from Blackberry Q5. Thus the Q5 title
Cool, I didnt know that. Thanks for the additional info!

Yeah you do not need to install the menu buttons. The touch sensors can do most of what the menu offers
Do you have the STL file for that bracket. I ordered elsewhere and it came with adhesive and not that bracket but I'd like to use it.
Yes, you can find it here www.thingiverse.com/thing:4788780

Bracket doesn’t look great in the clear shell
lots of soldering it won't be worth it
