Great video, but you committed the cardinal sin of not showing any gameplay on said console at the end.
I do show some gameplay throughout the video as I normally do in my videos. I don’t spend too long showing gameplay because the performance is almost always the same and a lot of the time I’m reviewing the mod process, like I say at 4:48. I feel I show enough of a variety of games in this one and in many of my videos, but if I’m missing something please tell me nicely and more specifically what you’re looking for.
Don’t worry about doing too much gaming in these. After RetroGameCorps being scandalized by Nintendo, I’m happy with whatever I can get personally.

Wanna clear up the power board question you had since you said you were curious!
Why can't we use the original power board?
- In my tests, the original power board just doesn't play nicely with my MGBC. You could technically potentially get away with using it, but you'd probably have to play on only original carts (no flash carts), volume turned down, brightness at its lowest, stuff like that. I didn't want to give people headaches wondering why their build wasn't working (and also wanted to avoid troubleshooting questions about it, lol).
Can't the power board be incorporated into the main PCB?
- It *could* have been part of the main board, but I wanted to provide compatibility with other creators' boards, like the Frogulator (which was/is pretty popular!)
- Honestly, the aesthetics is what I was really after. I personally don't like the look of builds that incorporate the main power stage into the main board. I like the OEM-style look.
- I also made a lithium-ion battery power board (and Natalie has as well) that slots right in. That way I don't have to make another whole revision of the main board for a separate lithium-ion capable version.
- The power board somewhat acts like a "skill filter". If someone cannot assemble the power board themselves, they probably can't assemble the rest of the build. So in the Github I recommend attempting to assemble the power board first as a low-risk trial run with new parts, potentially saving someone from accidentally killing a non-replaceable GBC CPU.
- A bonus is that making a separate power board means that my design can also be used as a replacement for damaged Game Boy Colors/Pockets.
Also, apologies about the cramped components between the crystal and link port. That's really the only place they can go unfortunately, lol. I recommend trying a hot plate next time you assemble one instead of hot air - it's a lot easier to solder parts on. You can also use it to remove the old parts on the donor GBC

Man that's cool, but the Pocket needs a laminated IPS or OLED kit before I'd consider buying one.
A GBC in a DMG shell, though? Yeah like you said at the end of the video I'd really love that. It'd last forever on four AA's. And that one has a laminated IPS kit and compatible shells available now on Ali Express (built a DMG with a laminated IPS kit and posted the video, but I'm a super amateur...still, your vids inspired me to try it myself).
Lammy IPS for the pocket do exist but they are a little tricky to come by as you have to order them from China through a proxy like superbuy.
