Very useful, thanks ! it would be interesting to do the same type of demonstration when shooting portraits indoor, starting from basic affordable tools to more sophisticated ones.
I did one a few months ago but realize that it was on a livestream that got deleted. Maybe time for a new 'official' tour! I was always hesitant since I would think nobody would care much what my messy and disorganized studio would look like BHS, but it could be fun video maybe...
thank you so much...I prefer to be behind the lens but ok I now need to join in and not turn off the video camera in zoom..I tested by using my modeling light with umbrella and diffuser(einstein 640) but ugg very orangey and over exposed so perhaps Ill get a ring light with a different color temp. Thanks for pointing me in a different direction. As far as background and what looks good on camera..well I think I have that part covered!!!
where the light is placed is so important, when it's off to the side like your $1000 light it looks very professional, whereas everything else is in line with the camera and looks like a flash grenade has gone off
Thanks for the great informative review I use glasses it is very difficult to set the studio lighting Because of the glasses I like the way your lighting in your vudeos Can you explain the way you use the lightin in your studio? The position of the light and the setup and The percentage of Lighting in the siftbox light I use godox sl60w with softbox
Wow. I've literally been looking for a video like this. The office area of my home has ZERO lighting and no window. I have video meetings at least 50% of my week. I truly hope your suggestions work for me.
Hii, I have two Questions to ask.. 1st why my pics get Minnor blur even on 250 shutter speed.. ? 2nd - I don't understand the button top on Right side, next to the shutter button. Plz help me to know.🙏
Thanks for another great video! This brings up a related lighting question I've been puzzling over. I can set a custom white balance in camera using a gray card. But can I have the camera tell me what it measured so I can dial in matching color on a Lume Cube or similar, without going to a computer?
Unfortunately not with Fuji. You'd have to use the custom and then maybe look at the little pixel chart and try and match that. Difficult. I wish they would offer that!
Thanks Ian!!! Sometimes I have to crank out on of these webcam/zoom type videos as TH-cam keeps telling me my audience metric prefers them, LOL. I'm not sure what they are smoking up at TH-cam but their analytics on my channel is CRAZY.
As always, a hugely enlightening video, Chris. Although, I think the racoon eyes look works for you. 😜 I am going to try to get that $30 light for work. Hope you’ve got that link as an affiliate! Have a great day. Andrew
LOL, thank you so much!!! Hahaha, yeah, that seems to be a running theme in my last few videos. Speaking of which, I'm SOOO behind this week. Hope to get at least ONE finished. Working on one now but really really complex subject I'm trying to make a bit easier for people to understand.
I've noticed that with a colleague I have regular zoom calls with - I suspect he's got a window off his back left shoulder somewhere (there was a recent late afternoon call with what I'm guessing was lense flare) so it make sense he uses artificial lighting.
Yeah, I made a few 'webcam' videos about smartphone and mirrorless cameras for zoom, but never lighting. Figured it was time and you're right, I should have done it sooner!
What lighting were you using when you were explaining the other lights. That looked the best, by far.
Thanks!
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate your support!!! 🙏
Straight to the point and not drawn out. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
This video was incredibly helpful. I love your enthusiastic presentation too. Thanks so much!!
TY! I just ordered the $30 light👏

Ya read my mind!!!! Awesome and would be a GREAT video topic!
@@pal2tech a good idea indeed :))) thx again
Great demo. I'm excited to try the $30 light!
When are we getting a studio tour? 😬

@@pal2tech we are definitely interested! Space used, gear used, etc!
@@KristiGay1973 LOL, video just launched today on this! 👍
Quick and to the point. Thanks!!! Needed an alternative to dragging out my studio lighting for team calls, takes up too much space, lol.
Straight to the point, very useful!
Thanks! I think it would also be helpful to know which lights were most distracting to you while shining in your face.
Noted! 👍

I now see the brand and pricing which you listed.
Wearing glasses and a ringlight is not a good combination. You will see the ring in your glasses!
Where did you buy it?
May I know the name or model of $30 ring light ?
Great job!
I would enjoy seeing a tutorial on syncing Fuji XT series to either iPad or iPhone, do you have anything in your library?
Thanks a lot Chris!!! Really helpful video!!
My pleasure!

So true!!! 👍
You have a glare from your glasses. I wear thick glasses too. How can we modify that?
Thanks for the great informative review

Great tips, highly appreciated. Though I was not expecting that much fuzz for a zoom meeting. I guess it depends of the industry and role.
Hi! I don't see the links to these products. Can you repost the link?

What about glasses?? Those ring lights are weird when reflected in glasses
Yeah, I sucks to have glasses (which I do). Usually if you angle the light slightly more above and to the side you can avoid it.
This was helpful thanks!

Thanks! LOL, I have another topic coming!
Come on Chris that $1000 video light gave you the Hollywood look……for one moment I thought I was looking at Tom Cruise…….ha….ha….just joking 😅
Convincing. Ever do a how-to about Zoom? Noticed raccoon in several posts - what’s up with that?
Raccoon = have a look here: th-cam.com/video/0gWWDwWw4_8/w-d-xo.html
I wish you have this earlier.

Ring lighting does not work with glasses 🤓
Great video! Smash that like button.
If you really knew what you were talking about you wouldn't have a reflection in your eyeglasses.
Thanks so much for your helpful reviews!
Great info as usual. Thank you
You bet! Thanks Carter!!!!
