Thank you so much. I'm a professional Santa who had to go virtual this year. Putting together a 'set' has been a challenge and the proper way to light it was driving me bonkers. Your video was/is immensely helpful and it answered all of my questions and solved all of my problems. As all of the revenue that I generate goes to charity, I was thrilled to learn that I had all of the equipment needed to give the wee ones a realistic Santa visit. Merry Christmas. - Santa Frank of Buffalo
Wow! You know you made it when Santa writes you! I’m so happy to be able to help and so grateful that you are spreading some much needed joy this time of year. Thanks so much for what you do, you totally made my week!
I'm a public speaking coach and I also teach online at my local community college. I'm having my CCV students watch your "How to Look Good on Zoom" video for the practical content. But I also want them to hear your message about beauty, their awesomeness, and the self-absorption of most people. I stress so much of what you're sharing about self-confidence, mindset, audience attitude, and positivity. Thank you. I'm sure they'll really relate to your youth, joy, and energy. On a personal note, thanks for sharing your messy space. So many of us can relate. I feel guilty and less-than sometimes because I know what my place 'should' look like compared to what it 'does' look like. (But who says? Mom's long gone and I live alone now. Why does it still bug me?) Anyway, terrific videos! I enjoyed spending time with you.
What an awesome remark! "I'm getting that little twinge of not wanting to be judged, which tells me I just need to be brave." I also had to stop and comment here. You really spoke to this glasses-wearing introvert who has been teaching online for 10 months. Thank you so much!!!
When you turned the camera to share with us the "behind the scene" area, my heart grew two sizes for you! You are awesome! Thank you for making this video about lighting for glasses. Very helpful =)
I genuinely smiled, I felt her shyness and her honesty while she panned around. We all have moments like this and I hope she didn't feel bad about this, nor should anyone. We are human. ❤️
I have tears in my eyes. At 68yo I want to start a TH-cam channel and learn to do videos to help grow my email list for my online tech support business for Over 60'ers. So I'm taking a challenge with Trena Little, and one of the participants recommended this video for wearing glasses & light. I love, love, love you. I love your honesty, your realness, your transparency (especially your apt), and how clear and concise your teaching techniques are! The best part of the video is your last paragraph (maybe I CAN do this w all my wrinkles and 'oldness'!). Massive twinges. I just need to be brave. That's what Gia says. When I grow up I want to be just like YOU! XO Carol Hennessey
you. you are so refreshing. I don't even wear glasses but I wanted to watch your video because your joy just made the heaviness in my brain disappear for a few minutes.
Glasses, lighting, clutter, adulting, little twinge... thank you for being genuine because I'm living every piece of this and I am scared of all of it. You crushed this. CRUSHED IT. The science, the mechanics, the advice, the experience, it all makes this the most useful 20 minutes I've spent on TH-cam in a long, long time.
As a photographer myself (with glasses), anticipating an upcoming Zoom presentation to a professional audience, I really appreciated your concise, but comprehensive tutorial on lighting, including dealing with reflections from the screen. Great job!
I just want you to know that I appreciate the time you invest in the videos. I wasn't going to subscribe, but I just had to after watching this second video. The "bonus" of you being brave was such a positive thing to share for others to be uplifted.
I know I am SUPER late to the game here but I am so grateful I found this video!! I've been a floor nurse for 14 years, so I have had minimal experience with Zoom and all the new technology that came out the last few years. I just got a work from home nursing job that's ALL online and I feel so silly for not knowing all the tips and tricks the rest of the world has had for 4 years!! I very much appreciated the explanation of light and angles instead of just saying do this bc I said so. You're awesome! 🥰
You're amazing!!!! This is my third video in a row. You teach these things so well and you're so real. That explanation on paper super helped! Thank you Gia!
Thank you, Gia, for keeping it real and for your enthusiasm in sharing your knowledge. I found your content in searching for possible ways to use a ring light to light a photo booth at a ladies conference at my new church next weekend. I am still not sure if it will do what we need it to do but at least I can approach the effort armed with a better understanding of why reflections happen and how to mitigate. I'll also *appear* to know what I'm doing when setting up and adjusting for the space/lighting available to work with. You reference "feeling judged", I am right there with you...I am a nearly-70 Jill-of-all-trades, master of few who finds that keeping a neat-and-tidy tight rein on my environment is def NOT my superpower and I am SO *okay* with that. I have never heard anyone wax poetic about how they wish they'd spent more time tidying up and less time pursuing that which brings them joy or fulfillment. You are a treasure 🫶!
Gia thank you so much for this input. It's been driving me bonkers for the last 2 years. Now I have a solution and have subscribed to your channel for more tips. You've brightened my day (pun intended!) and lifted my 'yuck tech' soul!
This video was made specifically with ME in mind. hahahah I have a ring light. I's the first thing I bought. I have eye glasses and I've done those long video meetings with GLARE for days. I've been annoyed about it but just took it as something that I have to live with. I am SO glad I found this video. Thank you!
Yesterday 2/13/21. I began getting myself ready to do Zoom and my glasses were driving me crazy. I have a window behind and to the right of my camera. This video and your video explaining how light works has SAVED ME. I’m subscribed to your channel and I have to say that you are one of the best presenters I follow. Continued success and I look forward to watching all your videos.
this is by far the BEST video I've seen on glasses glare! And the tidbits on confidence are amazing reminders of our unique awesomeness - and yours. thanks!
Thank you so so much! I've been working as a telehealth therapist for a year now and my eyes are so tired of wearing contacts! Now you've given me what I need to be more comfortable in my glasses so I can make that lovely eye contact with clients and be more present with them. Love your mission, thank you for this :)
LOVE your genuine honesty !!!! You have your life together and your “clutter” is just proof of how busy and productive you are . You go girl !!! Happy I found your channel. ❤️
Gia, thank you so much for your informative video! I love TH-cam. I learn so much from informational vidios, such as yours. First, you have such a positive outlook and I really appreciate your, “Work with what you have” concept. I appreciate your science lesson on Angle of Incidents, Family of Angles and flags. Your visuals also really helped bring understanding to the concepts. I, too, sit in front of a large window and I’ve worn glasses since high school. I’m on Zoom weekly for a virtual class and once a month to “meet up” with friends. I purchased a small clip-on ring light. After watching your entire video, I created a flag with a large, paper grocery bag with handles. I use the handles along with large paper clips to hook up the entire flag to the window shutters. I have the ring light clipped to a free-standing telescopic stand. It works perfectly. No more reflection. Thank you!
Gia, you are amazing. Not only do I now know how to work Zoom better, but I have important tips to improve the photos I take! Thank you - and congratulations on your success! You have absolutely earned it. 😊
Oh thank you so much Nicole that really means a lot! It's been so meaningful to know that these videos are having a positive impact with real amazing human. Thank you for taking the time to write, you totally made my day!
This is my first video I watched from you and you seem like a really nice person! We definitely need more people like your good self in this world! Not to mention, very informative video!
YOU JUST SAVED MY LIFE! Thank you for this. I have a job interview tomorrow and need glasses to see the screen. I spent about 2 hours finding the perfect place in front of a window and then finding a way to prevent the reflection in my glasses. (which means I have to remember how to angle my head and NOT look up!) I did pretty well (I'm a graphic designer so I understand a bit of the theory you taught), but now that I know if I block the light from the window, I can cut the glare even more. LOVE the content. You're great! Love the pep talk at the end. Hugs to you!
I'm here to say that I really appreciate you sharing your clutter with us!! I'm also working on more authenticity and vulnerability and it is certainly a challenge haha. It's inspiring to see other people doing the same, and a reminder that our fear of being judged is usually the hardest part to get through. Odds are, others aren't judging us as readily as we judge ourselves
I a few days I am giving my first ever zoom presentation for a conference (first power point, first conference, first zoom - go big or stay home!) And, I wear glasses. Nervous doesn't even begin to describe what I am feeling. I learned so much from your video. I really love your vibe, it is so natural and relatable. You are a real person sharing your life with us. I felt good and hopeful just watching you.
Gia I am loving you! I have had a few zoom meetings, telemedicine, etc and I have looked so old ( I am older but no reason to look “old”!). You have helped me so much! And the glasses thing, girl YES! I can’t see close up so I have to wear readers and the glare blinds me when I look at myself, I can’t imagine being on the other end! I’m going to practice all what you said right now❤️! Thank you for the great education!
This is your second video I have watched. I have been wearing glasses for 60 years. During the pandemic I am attending meetings on Zoom. I really needed this glasses video. Thank you for posting.
Looking at the space around you was the best part of the video! Now I don't feel so bad about my mess. Thank you for being so brave. You should be proud of the fact that your filming area looks perfect! Who knew?
Oh yay! That makes me feel so much better because it is definitely a source of embarrassment. But you were totally right, we’re creating and sometimes a part of that creating is messiness and that’s a part of the process. Thank you for being so gracious and amazing!
@@Gia.Goodrich Dear Gia, I don't know if you saw my comment on another video of yours, but I have a problem sometimes with my skin looking red on Zoom. It doesn't always look that way. Any help?
I'm a virtual elementary teacher and I've just been dealing with glass glare thinking I had no other options. I was just thinking I would need to spend a ton of money on a bunch of things, but then I found your video! Thanks so much!
Oh my gosh! You are so confident & upbeat on camera! Not only are these specific "glasses" tips helpful---I will probably watch one of videos before every interview. Your attitude--watching that is so helpful/inspiring too!!!
Gia you are the absolute truth, charming, engaging, positive and informative. This video totally addressed my concerns. You've found your niche, just stay focused. You are what this world needs!!!
I learned something today! I am completely dependent on my glasses, and had the same problem you described but did nothing about it. I just stumbled on your video, and I love it. You are so transparent, relatable, and unpretentious, Your content is right on point and you explain everything intelligently yet not condescendingly. Gia, you’re the real deal, I just subscribed! Thanks so much!
I LOVE YOU!! You're my "clutter sister"! thank you for all the help, because I'm an actress with glasses doing tons of Zoom room productions and computer glare is always challenging.
Gia thank you so much. You saved me from buying a ring light for my PC. I subscribed to you and for the very first time clicked the bell. Amazing lady-much respect.
Yep, my house is a freakin' disaster (pandemic homeschooling, running a biz, etc.) and I am CONSTANTLY panicking about what my camera picks up during board meetings, client meetings and crap. That moment of bravery was a thing of beauty. You are ALL OF US. And you are my hero.
Oh, and thank you for the terrific tips on glare on glasses. I had a stress-induced sh*t show meltdown the other day due to the 2 lightbulbs where my eyes should be.
A fellow glasses wearer here!!! I thank uuu and the bts of stuff is 👏🏼👏🏼. One of my hurdles in not filming is cause I always tell myself I can’t even get my room clean. Ugh. Thank u for showing us it’s possible and that it’s normal to not have it all together!
I love how hyped she is in this video about getting to 6,000 subscribers in 2021 and now in 2022 she’s at over 105,000 subscribers. Congrats 🎉 Great energy, great content, love it!
Gia, thank you so much for this amazing video. I’m in zoom mtgs 6 times every week and the glare on my glasses drives me crazy. Great tips I’m confident will work for me. And I didn’t mind the technical content because you broke it down and explained it beautifully.
Hi Gia! Thank you so much! You are awesome! I found you accidentally and am so happy I did. I am 66 years old and have hated how I look on selfies and zoom. I have avoided making a video for a new jewelry line I started on Etsy. I am trying to learn and you helped me. Digital marketing for those of us who were in school when computers were the size of a city block, is a constant learning process. Again, THANK YOU!! Cindy B
You are so welcome! Did you see your little cameo in the video? I screenshot comments. Thank you so much it really means the world to me to know I'm not talking to an empty room. I mean, I am, but I'm also talking to you
I agree with Mary M & Tree House Playschool !! I love your authenticity!!! I am a septuagenarian trying to convince myself that it is OK to be on camera and "out there" in many new ways to share many health tips that I have learned over the years. This is the first video that I have seen that addresses the glaring glasses that drive me crazy. Thanks so much for being yourself and being brave!!
Thank you, Gia! I love your comment about clutter! I am at a point in my life of wanting to show up despite the clutter and judgement so thank you for being brave and showing your clutter. Your courage endeared you to me. I am sending a link to your video to a friend now! Thank you for being so open and informative. You are wonderful, real and authentic.
I’m really grateful for the content you’re sharing and helping me feel more confidence as I lead Zoom meetings. Thanks for the vulnerability of leaning into the sharing of the “behind the scenes”. As a creative who makes beautiful things in the middle of a tornado of clutter, I can relate! I also want to say how much I appreciate and am glad that you’re sharing your personality, interpersonal sensibilities and your mission through these videos, too! It’s great to see someone sharing something that lights them up (but not their glasses)!
The real standout from this video is that you mentioned how exciting it was to get to 4k followers, and me in the future seeing it for the first time sees that you now have 115k!! That’s awesome! Great job!
I love your vibe Mia! so engaging, real and informative. I've been frustrated with glasses reflecting light and making me look like an undercover alien for so long! I now understand about angle of incident and how to adjust my lighting to reduce the glare. Now I'm looking forward to my next Zoom meeting as a human 🤓 💗💗💗🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽😉
Glad I found your station. It’s helping me. I have always been camera shy but there’s no running from it now....it’s become part of our job for many. Thanks!!!
Thank you for your words... I have wanted to create my page to help Veterans and yet... That "... little twinge of not wanting to be judged. Which tells me I just need to be brave." is a BIG CHALLENGE for me... WOW, what TRUTH!! Thank you for teaching me about lighting and looking better on my computer!
I don't have professional lights but by using your suggestions I was able to use some really old clip-on desk laps I had from 15 years ago(!) to creating lighting that took care of most of the eyeglass glare. You can see my eyes and there is very minor reflection on the edges of my lenses. This was helpful and I believe I'll be in good shape for my zoom calls. I appreciated this content!
Thank you for this. We're all amateurs trying to look good on camera. I also bought a ring light because everyone else was. I usually don't wear glasses but the light is so bright and I am on Zoom all the time that I needed to cut down the glare of the computer so I got glasses. And then the glasses created a whole new problem. This is very helpful!
Just love your enthusiastic about your expertise and your authenticity and bravery of being yourself in your own space. You are good, real and funny! Thank you.
Finally a video that not only works, but considerate that not everyone can afford to keep buying stuff whenever they have a challenge. And it breaks it down in a way that I can make the solution work in all scenarios. You taught me how fish😂
I thought this was going to be about glare.... but wow! You are an awesome human being: "Getting a little twinge of not wanting to be judged. Which tells me I just need to be brave.".... and then showing us your messy rooms. Thank you for making us feel human!
Gia...your energy and vulnerability is captivating. Great advice, incredibly delivered. I agree with Ian, the world needs more Gia's and so glad you're ratings and subscribers has rocketed..!
Thank you Gia. Up with the Glow. Down with the Glare!!! As an interpreter doing more and more RSI (Remote Simultaneous Interpreting), I'm finding myself trying to get a handle on the very issues you are addressing. So grateful for all your tips because in our "Le Monde d'Après" (the post-covid19 verse), this is so much part of the conversation. Have a great, glowing day with no unwanted glares.
thanks for the curly hair, beautiful face comments. I never thought to look on youtube to fix my glasses look. Wanna let you know that I opened you tube to look for my channel to see how to make videos to put on my new site and there you were. I didn't even search for anything yet. Whatever you are doing its working! congrats.
Oi listen .... OMG .... this video content + authenticity + transparency is such a dope combination . You not only gave the answer on HOW, but the break down on family of angles IE the WHY was brilliant for how a learn and apply. Your AWSOME
Hi Gia, First time viewer here. I really appreciate you teaching me what to do when I get "that little twinge". I never knew it meant I needed to be brave and take the leap. Life lesson, and I'm 69 years old! Thanks!
LOVE your authenticity where you show your space. It got me hooked on your content specifically because you were vulnerable enough to be real with us. And...thanks for the great tips on lighting and glasses glare. I'm going to share this with my Toastmasters peeps.
🤓Useful video! My GF wears glasses *and* asked for a ring light for a holiday gift. Your wonderfully-nerdy explanations will help me come up with a better alternative.
Gia! You are darling and awesome!! I am far-sighted, and now, a fellow glasses wearer. Of course I'm wayyyyy older than you (just a silly number in my opinion) and went searching for help now that I have to be on camera on Zoom. Yikes. Then I found you. Your video is the bomb!! Thank you for the tutorial. You are such a natural on camera and I loved watching you. Hard not to people watch and be interested in how everybody REALLY lives. I recognized myself in so many things you said and the craziness I saw in your abode. I get it! No need to feel sheepish. I am going to find your "How to look better on Zoom" video now! I'm sending you love and light... not that you need any "amping" up!! Stay spectacular!!
Love your honesty, authenticity and vulnerability. Shows you are human and not trying to display a fake image. Keep being great and thank you for giving us helpful content put in layman's terms. Blessings!
Gia’s no nonsense cheerful attitude is very contagious. And yes, I have come your very useful first video. I like that you mentioned that if you get X amount of support and likes, you can get ”monetized,” which is only fair, for providing a free service. (I knew that happened somehow, but never knew what it took.) Your videos that are very nicely paced and professionally done. Though you make it look effortless, I know there is a lot of your hard work behind the scenes to achieve this. Your effort is noted and appreciated.
Just found you, a year and a half after you posted this, as I begin a job search after a couple of decades away from paying work. Thanks for starting your "ignore the negative voices" with "too old", cuz I need to hear it. Well, actually, I need the hiring managers (and the ATS bots!) to hear it, too! Congrats on hitting 100K subscribers! WooHoo!!!!
Hi Gia! I'm from Brazil and I wanna thank you SO much for this vídeo! I made 2 Gia Balls (from the diy video) and put at each side. Now I look professional and feel great about the result of my vídeos! AND my eyes are more confortable without a direct Light. AND I can use my glasses! You are great! Thank you very much! Obrigada!
Your videos are great because you get to the point and you don't talk on and on before you get to the point. Your video for zoom was fantastic. Thank you for all your help.
Thank you, Gia. I pointed my 10" ring light at the ceiling and got rid of the glare on my glasses! I am new to online teaching and this really helped me!
Gia, I adore your energy, and often I was your videos over and over again to make sure I can get it! I'm older and I wear glasses and they glare in my Zoom calls. Thank you for "angle of incident" & the family of angles!
I really like the detail you gave us. I have not been able to accomplish removal of glare because I didn't understand the technical reason why I couldn't over come because I didn't understand the family of angles. Thank you so much
Not only is this super helpful for looking better by managing lighting, but just as importantly, she has a great message of inspiring us to own our uniqueness and be bravely authentic! It's practical AND spiritual!!! LOVE IT!

I’m addicted to your teaching after the Zoom tutorial. Hugs from Tanya from New Zealand 🤗
Any help?
Lol Was that a back-handed compliment? About not feeling bad about her messy background. 🤔
Sorry. Just saw the bit when she shows the space around her! My apologies. I thought you meant the bit behind her. 👍🏻😄😋
I can see Gia teaching young children with her warmth and fun. Beautiful woman inside and out.
I really needed this. Lighting, glasses, clutter. Phew, you taught me and made me feel better all at the same time. Thank you. p.s. New Sub :)
Congrats 🎉
Great energy, great content, love it!
Great info - thanks for being ‘real’ and for showing the behind the scenes stuff - most helpful!!
You are so full of energy, fun, transparent, & informative. I love how "normal" you are.
Cindy B
I love your vulnerability and authenticity, Gia. Thank you for this and all your videos! And for letting me know it was up!!!
Thanks Gia! You solved the issue I was having with my Lume Cube. I am going to set it higher to get the glare off my eyeglasses. What a gem you are!
You're a natural! Your videos are changing everything for me. I do not dread meetings anymore!
Thank you so much! I need this! You explain things clearly and you’re so personable and relatable
You're so welcome! I'm so glad it was helpful. Because I totally get how much of a struggle it can be with glasses. I so appreciate you
Glad I found your station. It’s helping me. I have always been camera shy but there’s no running from it now....it’s become part of our job for many. Thanks!!!
So good, Gia! I love your content and the authenticity is stinking adorable. Way to go. You are amazing!
Oh thank you Kimberly so much! I can tell by your smile you have that same energy ✨✨✨
Appreciated all your helpful hints and your energy!
Oh Sarah thanks so much I’m so glad it resonated with you!
Oh my, thank you so much for explaining this in a way that makes sense to me.
Gia, You're awesome. You were all in my head. Every time I get on Zoom all those voices start up. Thank you
Thank you for this.
I like how instructional this video is. It is not just tricks and tips but I understand what is actually happening now!
Love this for so many reasons - not just the super helpful advice but also how genuine and lovely you are and your great messages about being real
Whatever you are doing its working! congrats.
This is the BEST explanation of this I've seen. I was about to go out and buy another expensive light! Thank you so much for this.
Oi listen .... OMG .... this video content + authenticity + transparency is such a dope combination . You not only gave the answer on HOW, but the break down on family of angles IE the WHY was brilliant for how a learn and apply. Your AWSOME
I love how you talked about colour accuracy and value authenticity.
Organizing is MY superpower! I wish I had one afternoon in our space to clean you up! Alas, I'm in NYC. Love your bravery and smarts and expertise!
No apologies needed, Gia. I love the honesty and vulnerability.
Gia -- Please don't feel back about you clutter. Your videos are absolutely FABULOUS and you're teaching us a lot!!! :)
Love your honesty, authenticity and vulnerability. Shows you are human and not trying to display a fake image. Keep being great and thank you for giving us helpful content put in layman's terms. Blessings!
Wonderfully helpful. Great to see an honest presenter and a lived in house.
Gia’s no nonsense cheerful attitude is very contagious. And yes, I have come your very useful first video.
I like that you mentioned that if you get X amount of support and likes, you can get ”monetized,” which is only fair, for providing a free service. (I knew that happened somehow, but never knew what it took.)
Your videos that are very nicely paced and professionally done. Though you make it look effortless, I know there is a lot of your hard work behind the scenes to achieve this. Your effort is noted and appreciated.
I'm an art teacher and photographer and I think you are a great teacher and I got great reminders of what I learned in school from you! Thank you!
I really feel like your genuine interest is helping me do better on screen so I feel better about being ther. THANK YOU
Just found you, a year and a half after you posted this, as I begin a job search after a couple of decades away from paying work.
Obrigada!
What a joyful experience it was to watch this! I got the information I needed and I had SO MUCH FUN doing it.
LOVE IT!
