    You actually brought up a card I have a question about, it's Typhoon. The hand trap part of this card says that "If your opponent controls 2 or more spells/traps...", I'm curious about the defined part of the word "control". A set card is controlled and a continuous is controlled, but when someone goes to activate a card from hand (with a set spell on board) does that spells attempted activation put it in a frame of "controlled". Ex. When someone sets a card then activates MST (mystical space typhoon) to destroy a card, can I respond with Typhoon from hand to destroy MST

      It was used to counter dragonic diagram while players controlled Amano iwato, they'd activate diagram then if they set or activated any card to use diagram on it from field or even just a normal spell they now controlled 2 s/t so you could chain it l. Control means on the field.

      Edit, it means on the field, face up or down, mistyped

      @@LegacyCrusaders That actually helps with a lot of cards that I'm probably unaware of right now, and definitely helps problem solve cards. Thank you so much for responding (especially so quick), may shove it into a budget deck

      It's more of a side deck card for specialized scenarios, in most cases mst or ghost ogre and snow rabbit would be better.

      @@LegacyCrusaders I'm trying to find fills and side cards for my altergeist deck right now and finding solutions is hard without dropping 20$ per single needed. Thought typhoon might not be as good as a set solemn or inperm but it could add another utility

    So, trap cards will only actívate in response to something? Can't I activate it just because on my opponent's turn?

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      No, you can activate traps on your opponents turn. Depends on priority and activation conditions of the card.

    • @joeyjelsch

      Does this mean one full turn? Or can I set a trap end my turn then activate it on my opponents turn when appropriate? Or his next turn?

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can set a trap on your turn then use it on your opponents turn, if an effect let's you set a trap on their turn, you can then use it on your turn, since you can't normally set traps on your turn this likely won't come up. Once they've been set for 1 turn they can be used on any turn after of appropriate

    • @joeyjelsch
      @joeyjelsch 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @LegacyCrusaders okay. If I set a trap on my main phase then end my turn is that 1 turn or do I have to wait till my main phase again to be considered 1 turn.

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can use it after the next draw phase starts, draw for turn will be the manatory first action before that unless another card does something specifically before a draw.

    Why is it that when I activate red reboot in master duel, my opponent is able to activate trap cards in the gy?

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To activate a trap card is to flip a set trap card or to place one face up from your hand onto the field. Activating the effect of a trap card that is already face up or on the graveyard is not activating a trap card. It is activating the effect of a trap card.

  • @DillPickle-c6y
    @DillPickle-c6y 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If rangbali negates the activation of gravediggers trap hole would gravediggers get sent to the gy? Or would the card stay on the field unable to be activated until the next turn?

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It will go to the gy from nowhere when the chain resolves as all spells and traps do if their initial activation is negated, unless it's negated and destroyed in which case it may go before the chain ends. A successfully resolved spell / trap also goes to gy when the chain resolves unless it's continuous like or says it stays. If an already face up continuous like cards gets its effects activation negated it will stay on field unless it's negated and destroyed but in this case it will be considered sent from the field.

    Say my opponent attacks me with Ultimate Crystal Rainbow Dragon Overdrive, then I use Kunai with chain to make it go in defense position. Does that count as a battle? Because it's quick effect says if it has not battled this turn it can use it's effect. Does a battle have to evolve two monstrous actually attack and destroy or it doesn't count if I stop it's attack?

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It will not have battled as it has not made it to damage calculation, additional information below regarding why.
      This is from page 52 of the rule book, I've made minor modifications to clarify weird phrasing.
      What does it mean for a monster to Battle / Or to have Battled
      A monster “battles” (and is “battling”) starting from when it declares an attack or
      an attack is declared it. This includes both monsters attacking other monsters, and
      monsters attacking a player’s Life Points directly.
      When a card requires a monster to have “battled” (past tense), the attack had to have reached the
      damage calculation portion of the Damage Step (the part where you figure out out who takes damage) in order for the monster to have “battled”.
      If the attack stops before damage calculation, the monster did not “battle”.

    If all my spell and trap zones are full (either of other monsters or spell/traps) can I still activate traps from my hand as long as I meet the card’s conditions?

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, you can not activate traps from your hand unless the card lets you. And even if they did they need to be placed into a open zone on the field.

    So if a monster with an effect to tribute itself, (that is a quick play) to special someone other monsters, can it be negated by a continuous trap? By fiendish chain?

    • @bluesteelrvb2763
      @bluesteelrvb2763 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The quick play effect was used first and I tried to negate it with fiendish chain after the effect was used.

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, but once it's tributed it will not be negated and you can activate a card that's negated.

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can't fiendish a card that tributed itself as cost already, it's not on the field.

    Does anyone know if I activate Red Zone to Special Summom in response to a Trap destruction or banishing that would get rid of Red Zone, can i do that or will it just send the monster to the gy simce red zone is no longer on the field?

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When your opponent activates a card or effect while you control "Red Dragon Archfiend" or a Synchro Monster that mentions it: You can target 1 card on the field; destroy it. You can target 1 of your banished DARK Dragon Synchro Monsters; Special Summon it. You can only use each effect of "Red Zone" once per turn.
      Number:SDCK-EN033
      Rarity:Common
      Attribute Monster Type/Card Type:TRAP /Continuous Trap
      If you use red zone to summon and they chain a card to pop red zone it will not summon.
      If they use a card to pop red zone and I'll chain red zone to summon, it still summon.
      As red zone is continous it must stay face up to resolve.

    So question. If I summon a monster with an effect and my opponent plays a bottomless trap hole or compulsory evacuation device, does my monster still get his effect off? Or is it instantly killed/ put back in my hand?

    • @LegacyCrusaders
      @LegacyCrusaders  ปีที่แล้ว

      If the effect was on summon it will start the chain as chain link 1 and most cards don't require themselves to stay on field to resolve successfully.

    • @HillGuyXD
      @HillGuyXD ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for replying so quickly. Just for clarification, if I synchro summon something like “Trishula, Zero Dragon of the Ice Barrier” which his effect is to banish 3 cards your opponent controls. Then other stuff he happens to be destroyed. If my opponent uses a “Bottomless Trap Hole”. Does that trap happen first? Or does the link start where I can banish 3 cards from the opponents side then if that trap card wasn’t destroyed then it would be 2nd in the link to destroy my monster?
      Sorry if question seems confusing. I’m just getting back into the game and am trying to get an understanding on how traps are properly played and how the order of operations work.
      Thank you again!

      @@HillGuyXD Chains resolve backwards, so the trish activates on summon because its a trigger effect, your opponent can chain a trap as its a quick effect, the chain then resolves in reverse order, the trap will resolve then the trish will resolve, I have another video in this series later on chains I'd look at.
