That’s my crowning achievement, that’s the best thing I’ve done my whole life, we did it.
I was with you until the end, when you changed the game to feature "the best boy" which is wrong, because the game does not yet have my cat, who is the actual best boy.

Au contraire, my boy is the best boy, despite actually being a girl. She is the bestest of all bests! Never damages furniture, loves to cuddle with or lay on you, doesn't play too rough, is super friendly with all guests, she is just the perfect best boy!

@@Forthelemon I didn't even have captions on, or know that he actually took the time to add them instead of just using auto generated captions. I was just listening to the video while working, and assumed that he was making a dad joke there, so that just makes it even funnier to me that I was right.

The cat parasites valiantly fought the Nintendo microchips in nerrel's head for the one actionable neuron left, and it's right for a video.
The more I watch this channel the more I realize Nerrel couldn’t care less if his videos do well or not. The man just wants to play good Zelda and cat games and frankly that’s a viewpoint I can get behind
That's what I love so much about this channel. I hate every Star Wars sequel, I love Hollow Knight, and he doesn't give a fuck. It's always a genuine perspective with Nerrel.

You can really tell how Nerrel really resonates with the cat protagonist. Things like him saying that it's a lot more disturbing to die as a cat than a human and that the cat's actions emphasize its fragility and preciousness in a dead world is really neat. Nerrel's admiration for these creatures touches my heart

I didnt really see the appeal to this game but when you put your son in the game I suddenly felt compelled to play it.

When you put the shrill cat screech at the ending monologue I instinctually looked around the ground to see if I had stepped on my cats tail accidentally.
Part of why I love this game (among other things) is the fact that it's such a quaint and tight game released in a time when every big studio takes the bigger is better approach, often resulting in the games feeling padded, lifeless, and in worse cases broken.
This is my new favourite episode of "Barely In Time, Everyone Loves it"
This game kinda reminds me of Ecco the Dolphin. That game started out like it was a dolphin simulator and then you get sperated from your pod and it gets more and more sci-fi from there. Kinda like in stray where it starts as a cat simulator and then you get separated from your friends and it gets more and more sci-fi.

@Fat Chocobo STI made Sonic 2 and Comix Zone, sure there are Stinkers but STI made good games too.
I played it on PS5 and it uses the dualsense controller astonishingly well. You can fell the cat scratching with the adaptive triggers, all of its meows through the controller's speaker, and the cat purring with the haptics.
My one complaint narratively is that the cat inexplicably understands the robots and complex instructions. I know this is in service of a video game, but it did occasionally stand out when otherwise the cat was so true to life.

This review is what got me to buy the game and here I am hours later after beating it in a single sitting just because it was that good, thank you funny MMHD man.
I bought this game when it first came out but played it just now in one sitting at midnight. Shit made me cry at the end. I 100% predicted it, but just seeing a kitty cat thrown through a post apocalyptic dystopia was so moving.
Wasn't interested in this once I heard it wasn't really a cat parkour simulator, but you've successfully sold me on it through showing off its variety. Will pick up on sale.
the lack of actual platforming makes it more accessible to catgirls or whatnot, but definitely is a disappointment i feel for most gamers.

As much as I want to say Stray was overhyped, having beaten it in a two night play session with my wife was a really memorable experience, and I find that kind of game what I'm looking for more and more these days. Love your content, Nerrel. Keep on keepin' on. 🌟

I bought this game on a disc for ps5, and at the time the internet hadn’t been set up in my new apartment yet. It actually can play entirely off the disc, beginning to end, with no initial installation, and no updates. The graphics seem to be slightly downgraded this way, but i was actually really impressed to see this. Uncommon these days!
4:36 THIS. So much. So many games now are just about exploring worlds and finding out what already happened in them, usually involving ancient ruins. Video logs or diary entries are a must apparently.

It's great to see that nerrel has finally discovered his true passion. Game was absolutely fantastic though. Visually nearly every single location was absolutely stunning.

Was expecting you to be more critical like your usual lovable contrarian persona, but I guess the edgy "games need to be hard" Stray backlash got big enough that wholesome lovable cat parasite Nerrel became the lovable contrarian we needed. Also what a great teaser for the Steam Deck.

I appreciate you approaching and critiquing this game for what it is, a short, simple and chill indie game with gorgeous atmosphere and visuals and an interesting perspective (that being, you're a cat), rather than this AAA release from a big studio with super deep and complex gameplay elements and insane platforming and level design that pushes the genre forward with a mind blowing narrative. I understand some critiques against Stray, but considering it wasn't trying to be revolutionary and it's an indie release... it gets a pass, the experience is so nice and the visuals and world are so gorgeous that to me it just makes it great. Plus no annoying microtransactions or any sort of invasive stuff like that, in today's day and age that makes it a 10/10 for me _already_ .

Nerrel continues to put out some of the wittiest and insightful videos around. Also it certainly helps that his voice is extremely satisfying to listen to.
I'm allergic to cats and haven't owned a cat (not even a hypoallergenic one!) in over 20 years. I still like them though. They're very fun to watch. And whenever a family member or friend with a cat invites me over I WILL shove my face directly into the cat fur for as long as I can handle it.
I loved this game and its weird how it feels like a valve game.
