    Found one with the ecodisc motor being at the shaft bottom, making it a bottom-driven MRL. And another one, wich is a mod. It had the ecodisc placed in the machine room, wich was next to the shaft at top floor, so the arrangement was like on a real ecodisc.

    It certainly saves space in the motor room. That's great with being able to pull the chip and reprogram it.

    Here in Sydney we have THOUSANDS of Kone lifts at our train stations, with Waterfall station having one door on the front, one door on the SIDE!

      But do any of the Sydney KONE lifts have KONE fixtures or do they have the same crappy boring Dewhurst round buttons as the Liftronics that QR seem to use everywhere here in QLD? (I don't get why transit operators all over this country love Dewhurst buttons so much)

    Interresting design. Beeing first generation, maybe this was put in a motorroom for regulatory reasons perhaps? Some countries where reluctant to approving MRL’s and where staring the cat out of the tree.

    Ah so some first and second generation VF drives were replaced. That explaines why some first and second generation ecodiscs don't jolt after a safety break.

    Why do the first generation ecodiscs have such fast levelling? There are some from 2001 in my city and they are just as efficient as schindler even without pre-opening. It was one of the first MRL installations in the USA and is built to much better standards than the current KONE low rise model.

    • @lzh4950
      @lzh4950 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many KONEs in my country can level quickly but then wait for ~3s before applying the brakes, & another 2s before opening the doors, so they end up not being that fast

    • @benolifts
      @benolifts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is just the engineers interface that locks out. The engineer can only enter calls after this. It is no longer possible to change settings or view the fault log, but it is still possible to view active faults.

      The lift gets semi position lost (also known as JU mode). It does normal behavior for LCE on JU mode. Very occasionally these get fully position lost, but it is rare. If this happens it runs at slow speed and goes down stopping at every floor until it reaches the lowest.

      Interesting. How does a say Lester controls logic act to this? I'm guessing just goes out of service

    • @benolifts
      @benolifts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hariranormal5584 The old blind Lester controls don't get position lost when the lift is stopped between floors. It just carries on. But on inspection it does not keep track of position and becomes fully position lost and goes to lowest floor at full speed and reports fault "Lost LAR". New Lester is different. It has a 2D barcode positioner so the position is always known.

      I wonder why can't they make it make it level as efficient given it even has the 2D barcode, it knows it;s position ALMOST every Millimetre on the shaft.

    • @theliftrider
      @theliftrider 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@benolifts Which type of LCE does the stopping at every floor thing. Out of all of my safety breaking, I've had ecodiscs lose position a handfull of times. 3rd generation just goes down at full speed until it gets to the bottom of the shaft (was able to get to a secret basement this way). It has also happened once in a 1st gen, the lift went slow speed to the floor below, which was the lowest floor, so I can't really say if it would have continued at slow speed past that if it wasn't the lowest floor. I might have to experiment some more.
      Also some models of TMS have a reversal trick. If it has lost position and you safety break it when it has hit the limit switch but not quite leveled, it will reverse and go all the way to the other limit. You can keep doing this until it eventually gives up and goes out of service.
