@@TheKristianHarloff as if dark knight and begins aren't worse with their flaws...rises gets way to much critique and hate from fans...kinda like batman returns did back in the day...basically only because there's no joker...let's be honest for a second about both sequels
TDKR was a great conclusion to the trilogy. It had emotion, it had great action, phenomenal music, and really great character moments. You cannot walk away from the movie and not feel something. I personally loved the Robin easter egg at the end. The fan in me appreciated it. All three movies are great, but not perfect, and that's okay.
The only superhero film for decades & decades to make me deeply emotional & on the brink in tears. Took another 7 year for same emotional response in Endgame & then in James Gunn’s SuicideSquad. Love this movie Bane take over of Gotham is probably my favourite action set piece in superhero movies.
Kristian I loves these videos that y’all do! I really appreciate y’all going through the pain of watching Batman and Robin and now we are here to see The Batman!
I love Rises, just watched it last year for the first time since it initially came out, not as strong as the first two movies but it is a rare great third film in a trilogy
Hey Kristian, I’ll just add my two cents on the whole Bane being a henchman,: He was following a plan, Talia’s plan (she is the head of the league), but he has total autonomy. People always miss how independent he was and that he basically did what he wanted, case in point when Talia tells him not to kill Batman he was going to do it anyway. I just didn’t like the way he was killed…. Love your rewatches!
8:42 I love JGL in this movie. He was pretty much at his peak too with nice movies 500 Days of Summer Inception Don Jon Nice to have him back in the game
This is an absolute brilliant conclusion to the trilogy i have 3 favourite scenes to this movie and that is 1 when batman is being chased down by GCPD through the streets with the music and the police sirens it gives me major chills, 2 is the scene when Bruce makes the climb out of the pit on his 3rd try without the rope that scene with the chanting and the music sore build up gives me goosebumps and 3 the fight scene between Bane and Batman that fight was brutal and chilling. I also thought that it was a great opening for a Robin spin-off or rather a Nightwing story that would follow on for office Blake at the very end of the movie
Oh man. The Dark Knight Rises is my favorite of the trilogy and my favorite Batman movie. Can’t wait to hear you guys talk about it. I’m for sure going to piggy back on this comment section. Some folks are mad weird when it comes to this movie. It’s become the edgy and cool thing to say this movie is a “mess.” Could it have been polished up a bit more? For sure. But you can say that about almost every movie ever. I still feel Nolan and Bale gave Batman their best. And I love that Nolan gave Bruce what no one else has before. Peace. He cleaned up the city and moved on. That ending was fantastic. And Hathaway, it’s not stated enough that she was the first live action Catwoman to portray a comic accurate Catwoman. That Batman Returns Cat lady ain’t it. There’s so much Batman history in this third film and the franchise overall that it’s ridiculous when people say Ben Affleck is the most comic accurate Batman. Comic accurate is more than a suit. Comic accurate is characterization. It’s narrative. And Nolan and the screen writers referenced so many great storylines while telling an original 3 part narrative. The movies that followed may have improved on the hand to hand combat but that’s about it. The stories in these films is top tier stuff.
Oh man, I agree with you on this. I love this film. And I think Bane is amazing in this. He is so menacing from just his presence, and then the mask, the voice, the dialog, down to his theme music. This is one I can watch whenever it's on.
Really enjoyed these reactions every week very passionate and I’m proud to be part of this community ❤️🎥👊love this movie not as much as begins and the dark knight but it’s still one of the best without a doubt…the Nolan trilogy gave us the three best Batman movies of all time…and if next Friday THE BATMAN is on the same level as these three movies I’ll be absolutely over the moon 🤞🙏🎥
Talking about how good Tom Hardy relays emotion with his eyes is a great point, especially when this is a lead up to The Batman, in which Pattinson is clearly doing so much work with his eyes under the cowl.
I really like League Of Shadows is the arching story of the trilogy. Unexpected and different and proves Nolan knew how to use Batman Lore to strengthen the story he wanted to tell. Great podcast once again 🔥
the overview of the scene in the dark knight rises when the batman statue is revealed Chris Nolan made a happy face using the placement of the seats and statue as the eyes, nose, and mouth that was a nod and thank you to heath
I so glad you guys didnt crap on this movie because I love it! This was the first movie I followed every single leak, spoiler, and set pic I could find and i had a blast doing it, which is prob why I love the movie so much.
I remember seeing this opening night in imax in a special imax event where they showed Batman begins, the dark knight and then the dark knight rises at midnight. To see all 3 back to back to back was amazing. And then waking up the next morning and hearing about the shooting in Colorado theater I believe. Crazy and sad.
Right now, I feel like The Dark Knight Rises is more resonant than ever with everything going on in the world. With everything going on in Russia right now, the tanks patrolling the streets and armed forces storming buildings in the film feel so real. I think the film features some powerful commentary regarding the corruption of our justice system and the dichotomy between the upper and lower class.
Hey Kristian, Great rewatch as always. With the flash movie on the way and Coy and Winston mentioning moments of flashpoint, I was wondering if your open to doing a rewatch/ first time reaction to the flashpoint animated movie before the flash movie cones out?
I don’t think this movie is as bad as people said it was at the time. I just think it was going up against the previous two installments which were phenomenal. Plus I really like Bane, and the Ra as Ghul and Scarecrow cameos are fantastic
When this released everyone was positive on it this has 90 audience score after 250k reviews and 87 critic score that's mighty impressive .it just gets shit in twitter that's it anyone whom I talk to to the least likes this movie
He never read the comics this 'story' was based on and it shows. I liked his 2nd batman movie at the time but that was only because of Ledger's amazing acting. 2nd rate director that has convinced the world he has talent.
This is maybe my favorite batman movie, even though I admit Dark Knight is objectively better. Love love love this movie. I was surprised to see how many people crap on it, but to each their own!
I liked it a lot. As you said, TDK is hard to follow up, being the pure classic it is. Despite similar runtimes, this film began to drag a lot I thought. That’s my only criticism.
This must be one of the movies I gave the most chances to, I didn't count them, but the last time I saw it was when I re-watched the trilogy on the quarantine... And each time I watch it, I like it less and less...
Thank you gentlemen for reviewing these films!!! Throughly enjoyed the discussion and appreciate your time and consideration. Can't wait for The Batman!!! Let's go!!!! 🙂👍
This review will be your reckoning! Love this movie. I think it is a few holes. Casting that aside I think this gets overlooked because of Dark Knight and Hardy's voice. How about Domink Mysterio for the next Bane?
Why does Nolan have a thing about Sound Mixing? I wish I Knew. Thank you for a great convo about all these movies. Really enjoyed them guys. My Order Batman, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Batman Forever, Batman Returns, Dark Knight Rises, and Batman and Robin
Hadn’t seen this all the way through in a while. I loved it the first time and honestly, apart from a few things, I still love this movie. Really enjoyed this rewatch with you guys and can’t wait to hear your thoughts on The Batman
On how Bruce got back into Gotham: People can go between multiple locations in an instant in this movie anyway. In the one scene Bane takes Miranda Tate/Talia Al Ghul with him from Crane's "courtroom" and in the next scene she's back with Lucius Fox in a completely different location with no Bane in sight. Right after that they flip-flop between two scenes, making it look like the events are happening simultaneous but in different locations, and Batman gets from the one scene to the other in seconds when it looks like the locations aren't that close to each other. Sadly the editors made a bit of a mess of the third act's timeline, but then again, it isn't that weird for a Nolan movie to have a messed up timeline. Also, I don't think Bale will show up in The Flash, as he's busy shooting Thor: Love & Thunder. We might get Joseph Gordon Levitt in a batsuit though.
Another rewatch I missed when it was released. By far my favorite of the Bale Batman movies. I love Bane as a villain. Funny stuff the three of you mocking Bane.
Really great discussion. I recently watched this trilogy and pretty consistently, my favourite is Batman Begins, then Rises and finally the Dark Knight. Overall, an exceptional trilogy.
I love this film. It’s my favorite film of the trilogy and my favorite Batman film overall. It comes full circle with the trilogy and Bruce Wayne’s journey as Batman comes to an end while ensuring Gotham will have a protector be it a new Batman or Nightwing. Lot of what people consider to be plot holes are already established in the other films of the trilogy, such as how Bruce Wayne was able to travel without money or identification. If something like that was shown in the film, people would have complained how we already saw that in Batman Begins and we never needed to see him sneak onto a plane or boat or getting into Gotham, but since a scene like that wasn’t in the film many just say that’s a plot hole when it’s not. That’s just one example, but other criticisms are either things already established in the trilogy or are little nitpicks that doesn’t ruin the film alone or the overall trilogy. I know many will always prefer The Dark Knight as the best and that’s understandable and of course there will always be people who won’t like this film and they’ll have their reasons, but there are a good amount of people who have taken another look at this film within the 10 years it’s been released and their thoughts have changed to a more positive perspective on this film and while it may not be their favorite of the trilogy or favorite Batman film, they don’t rank it or see it as low as they previously did. Christian Bale is still my favorite Bruce Wayne/Batman to this day, his performance in all three films was phenomenal.. I’m glad that after a decade, more people are able to accept this film for what it is as opposed to what they wanted it to be. Apologies for the length of this video, but I really love this film and it’s nice to see more people talk positively about this film. Take care!
The direction Nolan went to make the villain image of Batman at the end of Dark Knight to give him a situation to fall down & rise up during the all time crisis of Gotham was commendable with an ambigious storyline of a revenge story of Ra's Al Ghul after Batman Begins & this being the continuation of dark knight was absolutely commendable But along the way this was a bumpy ride slightly however very emotional & the last hour made this movie satisfying & him getting the sacrificial hero name & people knowing the truth of harvey dent & Alfred's wish of seeing Bruce at the restaurant fulfilled was satisfying. Ranking: 1. Dark Knight 2. Dark knight rises 3. Batman Begins
I’ve always felt TDKT compared well to the OG Star Wars: 1st film that revolutionized a genre, that a vocal minority think is best. 2nd that perfects what the first did and is not only great in the genre but great overall. 3rd that is a flawed but ultimately satisfying ending to the trilogy.
the score or music in "the dark knight rises" when bruce climbs up the pit is identical to heath ledger joker laugh when he enters the rooms with the mobsters in "the dark knight"
It's mad that critics of Rises are happy to suspend they're disbelief when Batman appeared and disappeared in the middle of a Bank Vault in a building surrounded by police officers but Batman sneaking into a city that undercover operatives had already successfully penetrated is too much to handle. Ultimately, I think Rises suffers from being a sequel to a very popular film. It'll be interesting to see how Rises ages over time. I think it's very under appreciated.

yeah this is underated. Saw it opening day with full crowd and it got an ovation at the end. Honestly it's better than what won best picture. Bruce goes through hell in these movies. What emotion is evoked in this movie through his imprisonment and escape and his 'death'. My only problem really is the league of shadows. Bruce becomes Batman to fight crime in Gotham, yet in 2 of the 3 movie he's fighting this outside force. Also they're in this big real city yet there's no people/extras anywhere.
I have to give a shout out to Nolan for even paying homage to the Adam West Batman, whether intentional or not. When I watch the sequence of Bale's Batman flying that big ass explosive out to sea, I'm always momentarily reminded of the 60's Batman movie and watching Adam West run back and forth across the pier, bomb overhead with the fuse rapidly burning away, and saying the classic line, "Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb!"
Thank you for telling the guys what I told you about Val being difficult on set for Batman Forever. I got to see a glimpse of it first hand when I worked in the electric department for Seven Below. (sidebar: Val was also laying on the charm with your friend Bonnie---he would drive her around in a golf cart on the farm we shot) Val didn't care for me much cuz one day I was very outspoken concerning our "do not speak unless spoken to" in our contract.
Any chance of leaving spoilers for films until after their home releases (excepting spoiler videos of course)?. Yes Spiderman made a shit-ton of money, but plenty people who want to see it don't go to the cinema, either for health, financial or other reasons. I already heard the spoiler you mentioned in this video but not everyone would have.
Top 3 scenes in TDKR...1)opening hijack scene in IMAX was a sight to behold, music, sound, action, all perfectly blended...2)Bruce finally rises out of the pit without the rope, chills...3)The street battle fight between Bats and Bane only because Bane catches Bat's fist thinking he's got him, but nope Bats been working out and comes out the victor.
So I’ve got an answer (educated guess more like) for the question raised around @10:40 Bruce gets in the city with supply trucks & stays in. We’ve already been shown that supplies for food & water etc are coming through; obviously because people need to live. He can get in one of the trucks & doesn’t go back. Simple. Never really thought that as an issue for me. For those who had issue with it… how does my explanation sound? I’m using movies internal information. Not making a wild guess.
I think Juno Temple’s character was supposed to be a nod to Selina’s friend, Holly Robinson. She’s a girl that, in the comics, Selina takes in and looks after. She eventually becomes the 2nd Catwoman. Her name in the movie is Jen, so we could both be wrong. Nothing about the character ever made me think she was a nod to Harley though. Great show, guys! I hope you enjoy The Batman! 🤙✌️
My personal ranking of the seven they've covered: 7 Batman Forever 6 Batman & Robin 5 The Dark Knight Rises 4 Batman Returns 3 Batman Begins 2 Batman 89 1 The Dark Knight
Pretty sure batman just got in either from the underground stuff they mention in begins or you know cough the secret passage in begins they mention once near his home to get unto the city only he and Alfred know about which he probably used to get out of the city before it got taken over by bane
I know "Rises" tends to get shat on as the weakest link of the Nolan trilogy.... but I legitimately do love this movie. Thematically, it does a great job tying up all the loose ends established in "Batman Begins", and makes a valiant effort of upping the stakes after the intensity of "The Dark Knight". The cast as a whole crushes it again, with Bale at the centre as Batman. I never had a problem with any of the voice choices through the trilogy, so Tom Hardy's Bane didn't bother me whatsoever. I give it to him for being able to add that muscle to play a character like Bane, and pull off the intimidation and physicality. I think the only let-down is how he dies lol.... And speaking of death scenes, YES i agree Marion Cotillard's Talia's death scene was horrible. Like, y'all didn't have another take lol? I did love her in the role, and liked the reveal of her connection to Ra's Al Ghul. While Pfeiffer as Catwoman is legit iconic, I loved Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. Her's really did feel truer to the comics, in that she was a legit con-woman, able to jump from character to character, and be that thief we all know her to be. I recall you guys saying on an earlier pod that Joseph Gordon-Levitt's John Blake being revealed as Robin was stupid. I actually really liked it! I remember my theatre actually cheering opening night when they name-dropped him as Robin. Was it clunky and fan-servicey? Maybe.... But honestly, I thought it was a good way to include Robin in these series of movies. Considering how grounded the Nolan Trilogy is, it definitely would've been off-putting to have *THIS* version of Batman willingly draft a child into essentially a war. Having John Blake fill the sidekick role as a cop, and kind of Batman's secondary lieutenant (after Gordon), in helping liberate Gotham was a good take. Having Blake inhabit traits of all the comic-book Robin's at the time was pretty much an indication that he was gonna play the sidekick role: him being a cop (like Dick Grayson), lost a parent due to petty crime (like Jason Todd), and him deducing Batman's identity on his own (like Tim Drake), and just overall looking to Bruce Wayne as guidance were all sure-fire signs he was essentially Robin. Him having the legal name of "Robin", i thought was just a nice nod. Doesn't have to be his hero alias; it's just a tip of the hat to the fans, and saying: "Here's our version of this character". I think it works better than Zendaya's reveal of MJ in "Homecoming", in that at least John Blake exhibited characteristics of a Robin throughout the movie; Zendaya's MJ didn't (or maybe it was just too subtle). Yes, there does seem to be less Batman, but at the end of the day, i still feel this was 100% BRUCE WAYNE'S movie. And that is more than I can say about a lot of the other live-action movies (well, mostly the 90s movies, where Batman is frequent, but doesn't feel like a character). As a movie, it probably is the weakest, in that it just tackles too much for its own good. But because "Begins" feels so conventional to me, I actually rank the trilogy, favorite to least-favorite: "The Dark Knight", "The Dark Knight Rises", and "Batman Begins". Great discussions guys!
We saw TDKR at 11:30 pm on a Sunday after smoking some bowls in my garage. We were the only two in the theater, sounds great right? After the film ended I legit said out loud "when does the movie start?" Because I felt so cheated out of a Batman movie. However I did myself dirty and spoiled myself before seeing the movie. Just felt kinda hollow where TDK was so full. I need to rewatch this movie again tho, however I own all three of them and it only trilogy set. Loved these reviews, X-Men movies next before DS2??
Hey Kristian! I know you have already seen The Batman. What do you think of the score? WaterTower music has put all of the soundtrack on TH-cam. I REALLY LOVE IT! The themes for Batman, CatWoman, and Riddler are really excellent.
I know it may be recency bias, but the Catwoman theme gives me feelings of Leia’s Theme, with LA Confindential and stuff you’d hear in Damien Chazelle’s films cooked inside it as well. It may be my favorite part of this new score
Why does this movie get so much hate? “I wish I knew”. It has flaws but they are outweighed by so many incredible aspects in it. I love TDKR. An epic and fitting conclusion to one of the best trilogies of all time. This really was an “event movie” for me. The hype going into it and being in the theatre opening day was a really special cinematic experience.
This movie has it's fair share of issues, Bane's voice being the one most talked about, however Tom Hardy still gave a very strong and intimidating performance. Although the character's demise was a bit anticlimactic to say the least.
The voice is never an issue. I never understand why people idiotically complain about that . There is no problem with Bane's diction and if you think there is I suggest you get a hearing test.
Don't sass the class! Some great content over the last couple of months, don't forget to like! Loving the rewatches, are you planning any more, like the avengers movies or a group of nowlan flicks maybe (the prestige, inception, interstellar)? Also Tom Hardy is brilliant if somewhat kooky in this "what a lovely voice" 😆
I like Tom Hardy as Bane and Anne Hathaway is hot. I'm trying be more positive and optimistic, so i'll stop commenting there. Thanks for another fun video, guys, can't wait to see your review of The Batman!
Christian bale was 6'3 but when he was working on his American hustle project in 2013 since his character liked to slouch forward a lot he did that for the role and ended up with a herniated disc and ended up losing 3 inches of his height so in 2012 for the dark knight rises he was 6'3 and then 2013 and on he is now 6 foot tall.
Kristian: Why have you followed me from Schmoes to Collider to the Big Thing? Why would you subject yourself to so many years of such absolute torture? I mean why would you do that to yourself??? Me: I wish I knew…… (sound of popcorn crunching). ----- Love you and your crew man! Keep up the good work! I didn’t like Rises. Then or now. Don’t like the change of city from Chicago to Pittsburgh, I love Pittsburgh, but was jarring for continuity from the first two movies. I thought the whole story and plot was a bit absurd and felt like this movie was not connected to the previous two. I agree that Bane was awesome up until the point that it was revealed that he was just a henchman…….Again. For me this ranks just above the toilet flushing end of the last series. This movie failed for me on so many levels to stick the landing of what was set up in Begins, and then the ultimate awesomeness that was Dark Knight. I would prefer Nolan would have just never finished the trilogy than given us this. That being said. When viewed as a standalone comparison to “present day situations”, I do have a better appreciation for it.
when bane releases the prisoners from jail he rips the picture of Harvey dent straight down the middle of his face representing who he ended up becoming which was two-face
I read an interesting comment on here once. Someone had mentioned Selena's roommate resembled Harley Quinn. She was in a couple scenes is all. She had some color hair
I loved Bane in this movie! would say is tight with Ledger’s Joker for me. Love the lines and the way he delivers them. He is underrated, but I agreed they did him wring with the henchman thing at the end after building him as the big bad through the whole movie. Again I’m not into the Ledgers Joker is the greatest villain in any comic boom ever wagon. I believe Dave Bautista could do a great job as Bane. He did pretty well in BR2049 and Dune. Plus he definitely has the physicality. I dont mind him not being latino. Either way most latin actors who play Latin parts with spanish lines, don’t actually speak spanish and is not credible for any spanish speaker.
Did you catch how they showed that Miranda was actually Talia before she revealed it? After her and Bruce do the big thing (see what I did there?) Bruce touches a scar of hers that they show very very quickly. It's the demon tail that Ra's wanted to brand on Bruce after he completed his training. I remember my best friend and I geeking out in theater when that happened and the rest of the theater was just silent lol. I was just curious of you guys caught that.
I’d love to see Scarface and the Ventriloquist in live action in this Batman trilogy. Now if I were Matt Reeves, I’d introduce Joker in this film, but he is already in prison locked up. And throughout First two and half movies Batman goes to him for information. Then in third film he escapes or something being the bigger threat bts
I would watch Batman and Robin over this movie any day. I get the feeling Nolan didn't care much about making a third instalment, and is clearly running on autopilot here. It looks and sounds like a Nolan movie but it's shallow and boring, yet it's still somehow trying to convince you that it's epic and meaningful. Script and editing are just plain bad. This video is more entertaining than TDKR. Good stuff as always. Also, can you please hook me up with whatever Winston is smoking to think Hathaway is better than Pheiffer.
I like this movie, is it the best of franchise? No, but its such a great conclusion on the way that everything links together, it was great. I always thought Bruce snuk into Gotham by having some connections, some pirates or smugglers etc that he built up in his crime career before Batman Begins. Buts thats just me, trying to fix bad writing. Thanks for the retrospective, it was fun. The Batman is going to be amazing.
Bane is not a henchman. Bane is a the equivilant of a military general. Talia is like the president. She tells the general what she wants accomplished and the general makes the plans and puts those plans into action.
Objectively I would struggle to put Rises past TDK. But for me personally I have it slightly higher despite the plot not flowing as well as TDK. There's just so many little perfect Batman moments throughout that you don't quite get with TDK. And the end is perfect as far as character and themes. It's about feeling more so than perfectly crafting the plot and I think that's where fans struggle with Rises because the plot matters less than the other two and if you don't go back and make yourself familiar with Batman Begins I don't think you'll get the full emotion of Bruce's arc. And remember, BB didn't make $1 billion, or really all that close. Most people came to this trilogy through TDK and maybe didn't even see BB. If BB works for you I bet Rises will hit more too.
Oh man. I actually put Dark Knight Rises over Batman Begins no question. Batman Begins is a great Batman movie but there's something soulless about it for me. Dark Knight Rises however excellently concludes all the remaining dangling plot threads while also delivering a very satisfying ending. I also honestly never saw Bane as a henchman but rather a partner. I just don't like how they killed him off. That said I think as a Batman fan, Dark Knight Rises feels like an absolute love letter to Batman as the movie astoundingly adapts the graphic novels Knightfall, Legacy, Dark Knight Returns, and No Man's Land yet it manages to be coherent and a great film. Great chat guys!
I'm a huge defender of The Dark Knight Rises! I notice some of its flaws but it's still a beautiful and incredible movie that ties up the trilogy!

Banes “you think darkness is your ally” stil gives me goosebumps til this day.
It is a great line. Please check out Friday Night Titans, would love to hear what you think! th-cam.com/video/ZbsYDttQgv0/w-d-xo.html
The only superhero film for decades & decades to make me deeply emotional & on the brink in tears. Took another 7 year for same emotional response in Endgame & then in James Gunn’s SuicideSquad.
Love this movie
Bane take over of Gotham is probably my favourite action set piece in superhero movies.
what about logan for making you cry and what about the cold open/prologue in rises with the plane for best action set piece?
True
I never thought Bane was less than Talia. They were both in on it. And the way she looks at him, shows very heavily that she is one with Bane.
What I love about your rewatches is you are give words to my thoughts on these movies that I could never clearly express myself.
Thank you
Kristian I loves these videos that y’all do! I really appreciate y’all going through the pain of watching Batman and Robin and now we are here to see The Batman!
Thank you! Review out tomorrow AM on The Batman!
I love Rises, just watched it last year for the first time since it initially came out, not as strong as the first two movies but it is a rare great third film in a trilogy
True
Hey Kristian, I’ll just add my two cents on the whole Bane being a henchman,:
He was following a plan, Talia’s plan (she is the head of the league), but he has total autonomy. People always miss how independent he was and that he basically did what he wanted, case in point when Talia tells him not to kill Batman he was going to do it anyway.

I so glad you guys didnt crap on this movie because I love it! This was the first movie I followed every single leak, spoiler, and set pic I could find and i had a blast doing it, which is prob why I love the movie so much.
Totally agree!
Horrible
Right now, I feel like The Dark Knight Rises is more resonant than ever with everything going on in the world. With everything going on in Russia right now, the tanks patrolling the streets and armed forces storming buildings in the film feel so real. I think the film features some powerful commentary regarding the corruption of our justice system and the dichotomy between the upper and lower class.
Great breakdown
Hey Kristian, Great rewatch as always. With the flash movie on the way and Coy and Winston mentioning moments of flashpoint, I was wondering if your open to doing a rewatch/ first time reaction to the flashpoint animated movie before the flash movie cones out?
Well now we will be waiting!
@@jrich749 just your opinion
Agreed
This is maybe my favorite batman movie, even though I admit Dark Knight is objectively better. Love love love this movie. I was surprised to see how many people crap on it, but to each their own!
I liked it a lot. As you said, TDK is hard to follow up, being the pure classic it is.
Despite similar runtimes, this film began to drag a lot I thought. That’s my only criticism.
I really enjoy it as well
Damn the second that Coy mentioned he was one of banes henchman I was hoping for the "oh good for you" soundbite
Hahaha I need to get that one
This must be one of the movies I gave the most chances to, I didn't count them, but the last time I saw it was when I re-watched the trilogy on the quarantine... And each time I watch it, I like it less and less...
:(
Thank you gentlemen for reviewing these films!!! Throughly enjoyed the discussion and appreciate your time and consideration. Can't wait for The Batman!!! Let's go!!!! 🙂👍
Thank you for checking it out!
This review will be your reckoning!
Love this movie. I think it is a few holes. Casting that aside I think this gets overlooked because of Dark Knight and Hardy's voice.
How about Domink Mysterio for the next Bane?
Fair points!
The fire rises .

Just think he should have shared the info!
Another fantastic rewatch series 👏
Thank you!
Another rewatch I missed when it was released. By far my favorite of the Bale Batman movies. I love Bane as a villain. Funny stuff the three of you mocking Bane.
Hahah
I've absolutely loved this series guys 👏👏👏👏
Thank you
Really great discussion. I recently watched this trilogy and pretty consistently, my favourite is Batman Begins, then Rises and finally the Dark Knight. Overall, an exceptional trilogy.
Thanks!
Take care!
Such a good one!
Hans Zimmer soundtrack played such a HUGE role in making that trilogy so great.
The direction Nolan went to make the villain image of Batman at the end of Dark Knight to give him a situation to fall down & rise up during the all time crisis of Gotham was commendable with an ambigious storyline of a revenge story of Ra's Al Ghul after Batman Begins & this being the continuation of dark knight was absolutely commendable
But along the way this was a bumpy ride slightly however very emotional & the last hour made this movie satisfying & him getting the sacrificial hero name & people knowing the truth of harvey dent & Alfred's wish of seeing Bruce at the restaurant fulfilled was satisfying.
Ranking:
1. Dark Knight
2. Dark knight rises
Agreed had the same feelings when watching Return of the Jedi
Good point Chris
the score or music in "the dark knight rises" when bruce climbs up the pit is identical to heath ledger joker laugh when he enters the rooms with the mobsters in "the dark knight"
Real good
It's mad that critics of Rises are happy to suspend they're disbelief when Batman appeared and disappeared in the middle of a Bank Vault in a building surrounded by police officers but Batman sneaking into a city that undercover operatives had already successfully penetrated is too much to handle. Ultimately, I think Rises suffers from being a sequel to a very popular film. It'll be interesting to see how Rises ages over time. I think it's very under appreciated.
I love it

yeah this is underated.
I really enjoy iy
I have to give a shout out to Nolan for even paying homage to the Adam West Batman, whether intentional or not. When I watch the sequence of Bale's Batman flying that big ass explosive out to sea, I'm always momentarily reminded of the 60's Batman movie and watching Adam West run back and forth across the pier, bomb overhead with the fuse rapidly burning away, and saying the classic line, "Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb!"
Haha
Thank you for telling the guys what I told you about Val being difficult on set for Batman Forever. I got to see a glimpse of it first hand when I worked in the electric department for Seven Below. (sidebar: Val was also laying on the charm with your friend Bonnie---he would drive her around in a golf cart on the farm we shot) Val didn't care for me much cuz one day I was very outspoken concerning our "do not speak unless spoken to" in our contract.
Pretty nuts

Any chance of leaving spoilers for films until after their home releases (excepting spoiler videos of course)?. Yes Spiderman made a shit-ton of money, but plenty people who want to see it don't go to the cinema, either for health, financial or other reasons. I already heard the spoiler you mentioned in this video but not everyone would have.

So I’ve got an answer (educated guess more like) for the question raised around @10:40
Bruce gets in the city with supply trucks & stays in.
Love the guess!
Kristian, I love the Transformers The Movie reference!
Thank you!

Love this! Thank you!!
Sorry ya felt tat way Kate!
GREAT SCORE
Why does this movie get so much hate?
“I wish I knew”. It has flaws but they are outweighed by so many incredible aspects in it. I love TDKR.
An epic and fitting conclusion to one of the best trilogies of all time.
This really was an “event movie” for me. The hype going into it and being in the theatre opening day was a really special cinematic experience.
Haha yeah I really dig it
This movie has it's fair share of issues, Bane's voice being the one most talked about, however Tom Hardy still gave a very strong and intimidating performance. Although the character's demise was a bit anticlimactic to say the least.
The voice is never an issue. I never understand why people idiotically complain about that . There is no problem with Bane's diction and if you think there is I suggest you get a hearing test.
I loved his voice
Loved Bane in this.
The movie I think you should rewatch if you are continuing to do so is 3:10 to Yuma with Christian Bale and Russell Crowe. Great Western

Love you and your crew man!
Hahaha
when bane releases the prisoners from jail he rips the picture of Harvey dent straight down the middle of his face representing who he ended up becoming which was two-face

I read an interesting comment on here once. Someone had mentioned Selena's roommate resembled Harley Quinn. She was in a couple scenes is all. She had some color hair
I can't remember what Coy said, he might say it in this ep.
I believe the original Bane voice hijack scene played before a Mission Impossible movie.
It did!
The one thing I remember about this film was seeing all the back acne on Hardy. I was like damn, he juiced, big time for this role.
Maybe
I agree on Bane being the henchman as a negative. The Talia reveal as the leader was weak sauce.
I agree on the Bautista call.

I did!
Is it step down from the last. Yes, do I still enjoy it. Also yes
Same
I’d love to see Scarface and the Ventriloquist in live action in this Batman trilogy. Now if I were Matt Reeves, I’d introduce Joker in this film, but he is already in prison locked up. And throughout First two and half movies Batman goes to him for information. Then in third film he escapes or something being the bigger threat bts
Nice!
Another great episode of I wish I knew
I hope U do Jurassic Park later this year.
Maybe 2 rewatches of fantastic beast films in time for no.3
We missed it
I think you use the Mountain as the body for Bane and Javier Bardem as the voice of Bane!
Good call
I would watch Batman and Robin over this movie any day. I get the feeling Nolan didn't care much about making a third instalment, and is clearly running on autopilot here. It looks and sounds like a Nolan movie but it's shallow and boring, yet it's still somehow trying to convince you that it's epic and meaningful. Script and editing are just plain bad. This video is more entertaining than TDKR.
Good stuff as always.
Also, can you please hook me up with whatever Winston is smoking to think Hathaway is better than Pheiffer.
Haha
I like this movie, is it the best of franchise? No, but its such a great conclusion on the way that everything links together, it was great. I always thought Bruce snuk into Gotham by having some connections, some pirates or smugglers etc that he built up in his crime career before Batman Begins. Buts thats just me, trying to fix bad writing. Thanks for the retrospective, it was fun. The Batman is going to be amazing.
Review tomorrow!
batmans re appearance in this movie is legendary

Tdkr is the return of the Jedi of trilogy has some bad parts but the characters the story and conclusion are phenomenal.
I can see this!
Bane is not a henchman. Bane is a the equivilant of a military general. Talia is like the president. She tells the general what she wants accomplished and the general makes the plans and puts those plans into action.
GREAT call
I remember when Batman and Bane had their first fight there was dead silence in the theatre I was watching.

@@TheKristianHarloff I meant as in the audience was really into it because Batman losing the fight.
Could be
Gotta admit, the bat plane scenes were badass..

My biggest issue with the film is Gordon sending every single cop underground. That made no sense
True
Thank you!
