I think I've only finished Tekken 8 campaign this year 😅online games take too much of my gaming time, I think I'm very close to finish FFXVI as well but maybe not this year
Thanks for doing these types of summary videos & your other more meta videos like the one about the games you did not finish. I often wish channels would reiterate over their content more. With TH-cam rewarding hyperbole and trend chasing, it is often difficult for me to feel out which games have actually been great and even more difficult to tell which aged well after their initial release. Even just consumed as entertainment, it just makes me feel strange sometimes that there is all this information produced that is never considered again, so the feeling that you keep this big picture overview of your gaming and content really relaxes a part of me that sometimes gets anxious about TH-cam. Tl,dr: Really appreciate this channel!

My top game is definitely Nioh 2. I've been playing it for years and I've been grinding my way through the depths (Underworld) in the true end game as a fist/flaw player. Thank you for your efforts! Up until this week my goty was Octopath Traveler 2 but then along came the Blue Prince demo... Highly recommend keeping an eye out for the full game!
As an older gamer, I have had issues to enjoy games this year due to heavy depression. So jumping into No Man's Sky again made it a bit easier for me. Also I have enjoyed Cities Skylines 2 and replay of Elden Ring.
Love your list. Especially ranking oblivion at no.2 - this game's highs are so so good (Exploration, vibe and of course... Every faction questline + the daedric questlines) that they sincerely make the leveling system or the bugs almost an irrelevant negative factor for me. It just works 😂
Awesome video! Some things I disagree with, most things I agree with. Thanks for all the great gaming and putting me onto a bunch new games. Merry Christmas!
Great list Mort. I'd probably also put Indy as my goty. Thanks for all the work you put in this year, and I hope you get to enjoy some time off. Merry Christmas! ⛄ 🎄
Kudos for putting together a video with everything you reviewed this year - especially in the mid tier there were some games I had simply missed this year that I’m going to take a look at now!
I’m so grateful that I found your channel this year! What a wonderful talent, and your insights are always appreciated. Wishing you and your family a great Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
I always thought that the combat side of The Witcher 3 was kind of lacking something, it never really evolved during the game, and it felt rather stale and impactless for me. It made sense, lorewise, that Geralt wouldnt deviate too much from the fight a Witcher would perform, but I still hope that Combat will be improved in The Witcher 4.
@@SapphicMysterie That is both impressive and terrifying. How does he manage his daily life routine? Even on weekend or holidays when I'm totally free, I couldn't even put in more than 10 hrs of gaming a day
Merry Christmas, Mort! Thanks for all your hard work. I have limited time to play so if you have a review for a game I’m interested in, I can reliably guarantee I will be able to determine whether I will like it or not. Looking forward to next year and wishing you all the best.
I like these end-of-the-year overviews. In most cases, I'm not trying to play games on release anymore, so waiting for a video like this to pick stuff for next year and benefit from Steam's Winter Sale is awesome 😁 And man, you are a beast. Considering that in addition to all of those reviewed titles, you also play plenty of games for your "Check out" videos and demos during Next Fest makes it even more impressive, so hats off to you.
I was initially surprised that Wukong, Veilguard and Indiana Jones fell back so much, but then I remembered the older stuff you reviewed and was like "yep, that might make sense." haha Ghost of Tsushima and The Witcher 3 are just so. damn. *good*! Edit: As a fellow reviewer of games, I managed...considerably less than you did lol. In terms of my own personal Top 5 for the year, I'd say they were (in no particular order): Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door Remake, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Path of Exile 2 and Hades II. If you won't let me include Early Access stuff, then toss in Black Myth: Wukong and Last Epoch instead of those last two.
Good lord man, you are a machine. I started 62 games this year, but I probably only finished 20 of them. I still need to finish Rogue Waters, but I keep starting up other games instead of just finishing it. I tend to find your list sound, and I am guessing the game you will get the most grief about is Veilguard. My son also enjoyed it, and it seemed polished, but the character dialogue was bad at times, and sort of killed it for me.
After playing Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 I wonder what you'd think of Fallout London as for me it was one of the best iteration of the series even so from a modding team.
Happy holidays man! Thank you for this amazing year of content! Cant wait for all the amazing reviews coming in 2025, specially the craziness that will be february!
Thank you for a wonderful list. Haven't actually played all that much that was released this years (my backlog always seems to have near final say in my game choices) but I am playing and enjoying Indiana Jones. In any case have a good holiday and, as always, good vid
the best part about this video is that i get to find out about games i missed, such as Drova and Sumerian Six.. love to see that. anyways, my personal GotY goes to Dragon's Dogma 2.
One of the surprises for me this year was picking up 'The Surge' I & II . I had no expectations other than it's a decent souls like but they definitely surprised me. I think it has hands down the best combat mechanics of any souls like. Another was Enshrouded, I started playing only in November but it surprised me due to the sheer depth of the crafting system, the rest of the game was average but I just kept grinding for better gear whose impact could be felt instantly. Finally, my personal sleeper hit - Balatro. Can't count how many days were ruined because I played this game way past midnight.
60 games covered in 49m. That's less than one minute per game and yet somehow Mort manages to give both an overview of the nature of each title and the reasons why he personally did/didn't like in commendably coherent, entertaining and concise commentary. This video is IMHO an extraordinary feat of script writing.
I came looking for a new game recommendation and it’s just my luck your #1 was Witcher 3 in 2024, haha. That crab game looked fun though so definitely adding that to my wishlist.

Your reviews mean a lot more than you know to many of us. I have been following you for years and these reviews can help people get through challenging times. Just wanted you to know the impact you have on people.
A game I liked a lot this year was Black Book. The deck building aspect was really fun but what really sold it for me was the awesome story and the interesting mythology that I had never seen before.
Great video. Always look forward to them at the end of the year! You are an amazing human "specimen"! I don't understand how you ca possibly have enough hours in the day to do so many in depth review videos and have time to 100% games and relax enough to enjoy them! Love the vids Mort! Some games I enjoyed this year: Helldivers 2: Basically everything I wanted in a co-op shooter. And with. Starship Troopers-esque theme to boot, better than the source materials game itself? Sign me up Star Wars Outlaws: Still working through it but enjoying my time. I can see some of the repetition but there's so much stuff to do, Easter eggs, and amazingly crafted worlds, just going around checking the boxes is quite fun for me. The Quarry: A little janky with some of my choices to be sure, but I was surprised by this one! If you can get on sale or stream service, I'd recommend. MK1: I thought it's been a great reboot story wise, and the DLC characters have been a blast so far. Can't wait for Injustice 3!
