"You're trying to get me fired from Gamestop? Good luck with that. You don't even fit into the demographic of our customer base, so take your entitlement elsewhere."
Correction: you're waisting hours of your own time, because I'm getting paid to but up with your petty BS. I know you're saying "you're stupid, ugly, and should be fired" but all I hear is "getting paid to do nothing"
If I was the manager I would have handed the Karen a job application and told her finish filling this out before you leave the store and I'll see you at 6am tomorrow for your first shift BTW your pay will be $10/ hour thanks for volunteering to take his place because we don't have enough staff to fire someone without having a replacement ready 😂😂 and as she melts down point out she is the one who wanted OP's job and that includes at his rate of pay 😁
Story 5: That has got to be one of the most spineless HRs I've ever seen. Like, the simple threat of a lawsuit (that the company would've definitely won anyway) made them bend to Karen's will, and everyone suffered. And based on the ending, I guess the lawsuit was an empty threat
No kidding. I would've suggested firing the HR staff, as well, for how quickly they caved and gave a spoiled Karen such special treatment even when it cost them work efficiency and undermined the chain of command like that.
I think OP was also not assertive enough. HR always go with the recommendations of the supervisors/managers. I have encountered problematic employees and I first have an informal conversation, then I give a verbal warning and afterwards I start documenting to HR and upper management. Did OP follow the proper protocols? If HR was being uncooperative, you are also supposed to involve legal and upper management. The fact that OP quit their job because of Karen means they were easily intimidated. I really pity them because as you move upwards, you will encounter problematic employees and you can't keep running. My organisation has courses for supervisors to help you navigate such instances and our HR is very professional thank heavens.
@@Azulakayes Good to hear. I've never been in a corporate setting, so I have no idea of the struggles of what you guys have to go through, but I read a lot of Reddit stories that really paints a nasty picture of it. Enough of one to help me get why a friend of mine believes big corporations are more trouble than they're worth.
Why didn’t OP threaten a lawsuit? Why didn’t OP involve the insurance companies being defrauded? None of the story makes sense. How spinelessness spreads from OP to HR. OP didn’t care so why should HR? Everyone in the story is despicable.
@@Jasonfallen71 I think he didn't go for a lawsuit because it wouldn't have been worth it. Yes, Karen did threaten to sue, but that was against HR not OP. Yes, HR did undermine him and enable Karen's behavior, but he quit immediately after the first instance of it. And he did so without being forced to, so there was no act of wrongful termination. And none of the higher ups sided with Karen, either, it seems. Now, I'm no lawyer, but does not seem like grounds for a lawsuit. It be like hammering a nail with a wrecking ball.
Ladies and gentlemen, please please please pick up yourself a bottle of pepper spray! My brain cannot even fathom how stupid and dangerous people are nowadays when it comes to driving or just road rage in general. Couple of months ago maybe even a few years ago, I heard on the news that there was a child that was shot and killed in a Road raging incident. I cannot stand idiot drivers myself, which is why I have a dashcam in my car. Let me tell you when I had just gotten off of work one night; This was a several weeks ago, there was this really ugly Chrysler type car in front of me, and she just randomly started slamming on her brakes trying to get me to crash into her I caught it all on dash cam, and it was definitely an insurance fraud type deal, but I just got the hell away from her. So please get yourself a bottle of pepper spray, and if you have the money for it, get yourself a dashcam for your vehicle- I also wanna note that they are a little bit more on the expensive side but trust me they are worth it! STAY SAFE OUT THERE EVERYONE!
I'm surprised they didn't sue Karen for false documentation, theft of service, and possibly workplace harassment. Also, HR are idiots for believing that Karen could actually sue the company, they didn't violate labor laws, she no NCNS several times, any judge would look at this and heckle Karen out of the court room
It's even worse that they just went "If she says she'll sue that means she can do something!" But then one of the Higher Ups comes in and they're like "Shit, we could lose our job if we say anything." Like that is the worst HR department, they didn't even care about the business. Lady had no leg to stand on legally.
Last story: OP should have called her old company's HR and threatened litigation for workplace bullying and harassment if they didn't make Karen stop. Because the issue is HR itself, and that threat will force legal to get involved, shedding light on how many other cases that HR has been covering up.
Your last paragraph: I really wondered what kind of organization OP was in. There are protocols and if HR cannot handle issues, you get legal on board. I would expect employees to sign contracts and there to be a HR policy on sick leave/absence and that is supposed to be the reference document when dealing with such issues. What an unprofessional HR and OP needs to learn how to be a proper supervisor.
@@Azulakayes The kind of organization doesn't matter. What happens when you threaten legal action is that HR is supposed to forward the case to legal as it could bring about horrible side effects. By contrast, it sounds like the HR department tried dealing with things themselves leading to an abuse of power. Now, in OP's case, there was only workplace bullying that happened when she was there, but what if OP was being bullied further due to her race, religion, age, gender, etc? With HR backing up Karen, these could bring about such massive fines and lawsuits on the company that they could be forced to close. As for OP taking courses, none would help when every attempt to do your job is met with reprimand from the HR.
@@Maninawig I'm sure the company could be sued for the Karen, as an employee of the company, representing the company in a bad light and the threats to get OP in trouble with their new company's HR would definitely land the former company in hot water and tarnish their image. As far as being a supervisor goes, OP should've went one level above HR since they were reprimanded him for doing his job or whoever is above him that can speak to someone higher than HR. That mess could've been sorted out quicker but I understand when people just want to gtfo and want nothing to do with the company anymore.
@@Lightna ok, this is new info for me. I thought HR was an independent branch and that had no superiors... but if there is a way to reach above their heads, then I must agree...
@@Maninawig There's always someone above any branch of a company. Worst case scenario, it's the owner/CEO/board of directors. No matter what department, no matter how independent they are at the company level, they will always have someone to respond to if they themselves are employees. After all, someone had to actually hire and make the rules for the HR to follow.
@@wmdkitty they are allowed to turn when they have green light. If circumstances, like this scenario with snow narrowing the intersection, then "Karen" has to obey the law, and back the Heck away, so the semi have a clear path.
That is not the law in every state. In mine, you are not required to exit your lane or reverse to give space to a commercial vehicle that cannot complete a maneuver in their own traffic lane. In fact reversing on a public road is a violation in many instances.
The question is why did she park in front of someone's driveway, when that driveway is a block or more away from her house? And then she acted like nothing was wrong.
Story 3 reminded me of this guy at a parking lot. There were maybe 4 of us waiting to turn out of the parking lot onto a busy street. A guy in the back kept constantly honking at everyone to go when there were still loads of cars coming and no safe opportunity to exit. I nearly got out to go ask what is problem was and if he was blind.
Going on what Fluff said about being armed, I've seen HUNDREDS of videos online where Idiots LEAP out of their vehicles, SPOILING for a fight, only to IMMEDIATELY 💩 themselves when the Driver of the recording vehicle pulls out a 9mm or a golf club. As we say in good ol Blighty, all fur coat and no knickers..
A few years ago, a woman had a road rage incident. She (let's call her Karen) followed the other driver home (let's call him Paul). Once Karen find out where Paul lived, She went back to her home and asked her son to take his gun. She then went back with her son to Paul's house. Paul also had a gun. A shoot-out ensued. Karen got shot and died!!!! No charges were brought against Paul.
Story 1 So just because Op made one little mistake (even though he was very busy), this karen wanted to ruin his career, even though he apologised on multiple occasions. If i was the manger she'd be getting no more sorrys from me, just a mouthful of abuse. It tells you what a piece of garbage she is. I'm glad his manager stuck up for him, She's the type of person who can never do wrong. Either blames circumstances or others for her mistakes.
At work, hubby fell off a roof, broke *both* of his feet, and fractured his spine! But even with all those problems, he still worked more than his coworkers! 🙄 Some dudes he “works” with won’t show up, so he’ll have to fill in for them. And I don’t get how any of those dudes still have jobs! 😒 lol
If you call you are just a person on the phone, if you come into the store just to harass someone you are a psycho, if you go into a store and buy something then and only then are you a customer.
Road rage is really no joke. I remember getting to a new city in the early 2000's and this dude was trying to cut me off going god knows what over the speed limit. I pulled in to the right lane to exit and he went nuts screaming his head off since he was trying to pass me. He even followed me and started getting really aggressive after I pulled into a parking spot at a bank (there were cameras). After a few minutes of screaming he said "YOU WANT TO GO RIGHT NOW!?!?!?!" and I just calmly said "I'm armed"...I've never seen someone pull a movie stunt move trying run in my life. Granted...I just had bear spray after a back woods fishing trip...but bullies aren't known for their bravery.
The first time I experienced a coworker just not showing up to work, it was a new hire. She seemed pretty nice, quite competent, and we had a lot in common (I thought). She had been there about a week when a blue jay landed on the railing outside the windows. She went on a rant about how evil and nasty they were. I calmly said that they have a place nature, and even though the thought of eating the young of other birds is distressing, and hogging bird feeders doesn’t appear “fair” to us humans, it’s all part of the natural balance. She pouted a bit. Next morning she didn’t show up. Around noon, the supervisor called her to find out if she was sick and did she need anything. Nope. The work environment was “ just too hostile” so she wasn’t coming back. Our supervisor called her last place of employment (it turned out she had only been employed there for 2 weeks) and found out she had walked out of there during her lunch break and never returned. I wonder if someone at that place also liked blue jays?
The first story sounds ridiculous, but I actually had that happen to me. I had a lady yelling at me and filming me because I wouldn't fire an employee in front of her for being rude. (He had told another customer to put a mask on.) People like this are why I can't stand working in Food Service anymore.
We had a very similar Karen to the last story; actually two Karens, who found a doctor to sign-up sick-leave constantly. They were gone two months, got back two weeks only to brag about their "trickery"; then back to sick-leave. It lasted one whole year then HR finally considered they had enough documentation to fire them both without compensation. HR wasn't on their side, but explained it was very difficult to fire people on sick-leave since they are protected under labor laws. I wonder if the HR from the story had some sort of secret agreement with Karen; like a payment or blackmailing.
“I came here to give you a piece of my mind!” I’d be like: Whoa, now! I don’t think you can spare that, ma’am! You should hold on to whatever little you have left!
Story 5- That is insane! I wonder how such a lazy woman even got that job in the first place. Or did she become lazy after her minor accident? Either way, I'm in shock how that HR handled that. I would think the head of HR should have been let go too.
It sucks but this does happen. You threaten a lawsuit, and companies let people get away with all sorts of ridiculous crap because they are scared of going to court even if there is no real case. 😮💨
I've been passed at high speed while I was doing the limit. Short version: They got pulled over by a cop car which was monitoring speeds while parked in a side-road.
Story 4: Parking stories always crack me up. It seems to be this weird trigger point for a lot of people, and most drivers who can afford a car can also afford the fines and inconvenience of one illegal parking tow or ticket just fine. I remember when I visited a major college during a football game back in the early 90s, a small tow yard was set up with a kiosk, they would tow lots of cars parked in red zones and charge $60 cash only for retrieval. The place always made quite a bit of money, although you would usually see a bunch of angry people hanging around it, as if they had parked legally.😂😂
Too many drivers are entirely ignorant of right of way laws in the first place, but then you get entitled drivers that think right of way priority is "me, then x, y, and z." The former need refresher driver's education courses. The latter need their license revoked as a public menace.
They're the same kind of drivers who think that turning on their indicators somehow gives them the "right" to push in and that safety is "someone else's problem."
Story 1: I'm convinced that the internet and overabundance of pride has killed the patience of thousands of people. 10 minutes and she tries to get someone fired? She wouldn't survive with USAA support (Average hold time is 1-2 hours according to my dad)
We were trying to do something with our taxes, getting something switched from mine to my husband’s. I called during the day and got all that I had to do done but my husband called after work and was on hold to talk to someone for close to two hours. Then goes through the chain of people to get to the particular group he needed to talk to and the person says, “I’ll put you on hold and get right back to you.” Click. She hung up on him by accident. So he tries again the next day and is on hold for about as long and the guy basically gives him the “fuck off im almost done for the day” answers that amounted to check it out online. He tries online but can’t figure if if they actually did it. So he calls again, takes forever, about three hours that time. And gets hung up on again. He calls earlier in the day and she’s incredibly helpful and looks the information up for him. Dealing with the CRA (Canadian Revenue Agency). We just wanted to make sure it was processed so our tax refund was issued before they joined the strike that was at that point looming but is now happening.
Judging by the interaction, honestly, I wonder if she had some kind of secret kink, like public humiliation or something, that she was using the incident to feed into.
When i was managment i would dismiss customers complaints, and when they would throw some variation of "the customer is always right" id tell them except they never are and that i really dont give a shit if they return because why would i want to see someone thats as attractive as a dead whale and smells just as pungent as one ever again. Yeah i wasnt cut out for customer service because i dont know how to kiss peoples ass, i can bearly handle being polite to anyone that is rude to me surprisingly I quit instead of being fired.
S1: She wasted hours of her day, gas money and other people’s time because she felt she deserved to watch someone else get belittled, yelled at and possibly fired? Her life must really suck. I’d have asked her if she needs a cookie.
Last story: Yeah, the people and companies who think you can and should be punished for things you do outside of the job(barring crimes of course) are fucking stupid. The airline I used to work for decided they had the right to patrol everything their employees do off the clock because “You’re always representing your company.” Ummm…no. I’m representing your company DURING MY SHIFT! What I post on social media that has nothing to do with your company and is not criminal in anyway, or the fact that I didn’t help out that person in Wal mart who mistook me for an employee and couldn’t take no for an answer is none of your damn business! Hell, they would actually take disciplinary action against someone who walked into a bar with any article of clothing or accessory that had any visible connection to the company. Companies have to learn they do not own their employees’ off the clock time
@@CloudyNight2156 Pretty much. I like the direct team I worked with. Most of them were awesome people and I have a few friends among them still. We had a manager who would do everything in her power to protect her employees from the higher ups as long as said employees didn’t try to cover up the mistakes they made. It’s the higher ups I couldn’t stand. The one I hated most is when a customer has to be rebooked for delays, if the reason is something akin to maintenance, we had a lot more options than if it was weather. More than once, we had solid proof it was a maintenance issue, but they labeled it officially as “previous delay of the aircraft.” Basically that’s customer service speak for “We don’t know the exact cause(even though we do) so we’re treating it as not our fault and limiting your options.” Had them do that once WHILE I WAS REBOOKING SOMEONE!! I literally had to look this person in the eye and apologize that I had to take away the accommodation I was in the middle of giving them because of that. Even stupider is overselling flights to beyond the physical number of seats. In a big hub city, this makes sense. Delays happen and connections are missed. Doing this in a city like the one I was in, where there are no connecting flights, where everyone is starting their journey with us, is asinine. They sell 51 seats on a 50 seat plane in hopes that someone will fuck up and not show up in time. When that inevitably doesn’t happen, we’re the bad guys who have to say, “Sorry you were the last person to check in and no one volunteered to give up their seat. I can’t put you on this flight. Have this voucher that may cover 1/4th the cost of another ticket that you can’t use for anything else.”
@@kranberry3318 Yeah, this is why I ask people to be nice to airline workers and not try to argue about rules such as carry on limits. And I actually had someone call me a whiner who need to just do their damn job for voicing that request on one of these videos once 🤣
@@raarasunai4896 Anyone who works airline has it rough because you’re guaranteed to get lots of abuse from people pissed off about something you have no control over. In that kind of situation, you should have nothing but support on the staff side, but airline workers rarely have that. I do NOT fly well and planes give me nausea and anxiety, but I always go out of my way to be nice to airline staff. If I can’t talk because opening my mouth will cause a mess, I just wave or something. Even if I feel like crap, I do everything I can to be a nice, polite, passenger. They all have a million problems and I don’t want to be one of them. I feel bad for throwing up on planes as a kid, but there’s absolutely nothing I could have done differently because I was literally a child. Even then, as a green-faced, sick-to-my-stomach little kiddo, I always apologized to staff after throwing up.
I swear every time I hear a Karen say “I’m going to give you a piece of my mind“ I answer back in my head “yeah, as if you can spare any portion of that pee size brain of yours”
Last story: OP should look up the number to Chuck E Cheese's store at the furthest point from where they live. Then block her number. Imagine how much more pissed off she woulf be when she realizes she wasted her time on this bs- much like she wasted all her coworkers' time with her ridiculous demands
Story 1 = In my country, she would have been dragged out of the store and been permanently banned, and if she would come back, cops would be alerted. EDIT : Story 3. If she made threaths i would have called the cops (handfree calling). If she followed me, a gun would be waiting and pointed at her and i will most definitly and absoilutely defend myself, and inform the cops as such. EDIT : Story 5. I would have recorded all of Karens calls and would go file a complaint to the police for stalking, harrasment and slander. After that, i would also notify my old work HR team of her behaviour (with the needed proof, off course).
Story 1: It seems that Karen has given out so many pieces of her mind that she no longer has one. Story 2: I believe I saw this on one of those TH-cam videos that highlight the actions of Karens. If it is this one, she even argued with the police when they arrived.
Story 2: Ugh, the entitled people on the road are the worst. Next to the local mall and close to all the major shopping areas in town, there is a lane of traffic that only goes to the on-ramp for one of two major highways. The other highway's ramp is one intersection away, on the other side of the overpass that causes a bit of an artificial hill situation between them, AKA you cannot see the other intersection very well. Of course, this is a very busy area that I normally avoid unless I am going onto said on-ramp. I was at the front of the line at a red light, in the lane of that on-ramp and there were a few cars behind me. BUT! I could hear sirens incoming, heading in my direction from the other side of the overpass/faux-hill, and it is rather close. As I am stuck in traffic, I do what you are supposed to do and don't go anywhere, even when that red light turned green. This drew the ire of a Karen behind me, and they began honking at me, as all they cared about was that the light was green. The fire truck could now be seen at the top of that hill, maybe 150-200 yards away. I was NOT going to get in their way, I am not a moron. Apparently this Karen was a moron, as the traffic to the right of us thinned out (it was a right turn only and clears rather quickly when the light is green) so they whipped around me and sped through the intersection, COMPLETELY cutting off the firer truck. I could see the guy in the passenger seat of the fire truck throw up his hands in the universal "WTF are you doing?" movement. The truck *BARELY* avoided T-boning that little car. It would have been a disaster if it had. The car sped through the intersection, the truck carried on to where it was going, and once it was away from the area, I drove through the intersection. My dad and best friend were in the car as well, and they agreed that I was in the right and that the other car was an idiot. Also, because of the way the ramps are done there, I was maybe 200 yards behind that car when I got to the freeway. I made a point of staying away from them.
Story # 3! Many years ago I was traveling south on I-25 north of Denver pulling a horse trailer at the then 55 MPH speed limit, in the right lane where I had been for at least a 100 miles, clear back into WY! This big Cadillac pulls alongside with 4 dudes in it giving me the finger, yelling, etc! To this day I have no clue what the heck I did to piss them off, but apparently I did somehow! I had laying on the seat next to me a Colt Sixgun with the gun belt wrapped around the holster! Picked it up and laid it on the dashboard right in front of me where they could see it! The drive punched gas and they took off. Never saw them again.
Road Rage Karen story: I saw a similar thing happen only with a bus. The bus was making a right turn and the car he almost hit was making a left turn. The car had a red light and had plenty of room to back up but refused to. The bus had to wait until he had the light again because by then the car would have made its left turn and been out of the way. IDK what is wrong with people! Sometimes people should not be allowed to drive.
Story 3: the fact that the idiot got out to the wrong traffic lane to threaten someone for something they have no control over is stupid and dangerous. And let not forget he causing traffic to be more back by getting out of his car to just threaten OP is even more stupid. Let hope police ticket the idiot for that stunt.
For that road rage story that had a follow. I have a sidearm to defend myself and I know many others that do as well. I live by the phrase mess around and find out
Story 4: my grandparents live across the street from an elementary school with a high school next to it. Their driveway is basically a hill and has a cement wall on both sides. People from the school love blocking the bottom of the driveway and the way my almost 80 grandfather has handled it for the last 50 or so years? Lol he walks over to the school and tells them. They usually make an announcement on the PA system, which you can hear from the living room from my grandparents' house. The house us just about 100 years old and the elementary school was being built when my grandpa was little growing up in this very house. My mom and aunt are the only ones allowed to block the driveway according to them.
I think with how fast things are now, people's patience has dwindled. Whereas I'm on hold with the Tax offices for HOURS with no recourse but to listen to the crunchy hold music
The semi truck story made my blood boil. I have a transport truck driver's license and some corners are really hard to get around with a long truck, not to mention a semi.
Story#1-i know it's again the law to put hands on people, since she wanted to give them a piece of her mind, a good hard slap would have assisted her😂😅😊
My driveway being blocked is a bit of a pet peeve for me. My yard has a fence around it, so it doesn't take much to block my driveway enough that I can't get out. My neighbors are all nice folk, so when my driveway has been blocked (by one of their guests), its usually just a brief inconvenience, no harm, no foul. It just strikes me as a very rude or thoughtless thing to do to someone.
Story 1 - I've always said people in front of me matter more than the phone because they can throw things at me. Also, I absolutely love it when other customers bring down the hammer on them and start mock them
Second Story: Yea the Karen is so getting a ticket for blocking traffic as due to her not moving allowing the semi-truck to go. Hope she's ready for a 200-400 dollar ticket and she won't be able to argue to the cop that it was the truck drivers fault for blocking traffic as the police can see if she move the semi-truck well be able to complete the turn it's going to move and her not moving automatically put her at fault for blocking traffic. Last Story: OP should have just go straight up the chain of command if HR won't do anything instead of quitting. Also OP should have also ask the Co-Worker who got picture of Karen going to clubs to send her the picture so OP can report Karen to the Social Security for disability fraud. As in the US Disability fraud can land you in prison for 5 years and a fine of 250 thousand dollars.
Last story: That was an incompetent HR or there was a conflict of interest between the HR and Karen. There are labour laws that protect both the employer and employee because the relationship is supposed to be mutually beneficial. If someone absconds from duty without just cause, even in unionised jobs, they are supposed to undergo disciplinary action. IMO, HR didn't follow up to find out exactly what was going on or someone in that office was easily intimidated by Karen thus couldn't support OP fully. When the new more assertive Snr VP/supervisor came in, all that stupidity stopped. If I were OP, I would use this as a learning opportunity on being more assertive at the workplace. Its a part of management and you will always encounter problematic employees at times and you cannot switch jobs or be fearful at all times.
As a truck driver I had a similar experience. I made it first by a split second to a three way intersection. All points of entry had a stop sign. There was a car to my left wanting to go straight and nobody on my right. Now this intersection is horrible to begin with for semi’s because even if you make the widest turn possible (without curb checking cause that’s risking falling down the drop of a hill to an apartment complex) the trailer tires will still kinda enter the lane of on coming traffic. Because of this, most people who see me coming either hurry out of intersection if they are at the stop sign, or stop a car length or two away from the stop sign. Having completed my full stop, I proceeded to commit to the left turn. As i started cranking the wheel left ( because you have to wait last second to start turning) i noticed that the guy on my left still was coming to the stop sign, california stopped his vehicle and entered the intersection as far as he could go with out attempting limbo with my trailer. I stop immediately and there are inches away from my trailer and his vehicle. I dawn what I call my “trucker callace” look and watch the driver waiting for him to back up. although it is evening rush hour, this is a medium sized city in iowa so people are still able to maneuver around us via right turn and detouring from there. After a bit a few cars that were going in the same direction have accumulated and realized the situation and backed up to give the other driver plenty of room to do the same. Now let me tell you rule number in driving a big rig on the roads (ok it’s more like rule number 3 or 5 but it’s still has the same impact on safety) The only reason you should back up, is when you’re docking. I say this so y’all can see why I wasn’t budging. That and maybe because I’m not one to let a four wheeler push me around (i’m not as prideful or a bully as that statement makes me sound i promise 😅) While this is going on, I see the driver frantically gesturing and clearly yelling at me. I don’t know what was said because I refused to roll my window down. Especially when he gestured me to do so. Seeing that he was not moving anytime soon, I called the city’s non emergency police line to inform them of the situation. By the time I was giving details about the other vehicle, I don’t know if they realized I was on the phone with the police or their will to fight ebbed, they finally backed up enough for me to complete the turn. I informed the police of the update and where the vehicle sped off after I cleared the intersection. I finally got docke and was about to head into the store to unload when one of the responding officers arrived and asked a few questions as well as to inform me they couldn’t find the other person. I retold the event as best i could in a non accusation matter because i think I probably could have handled it better as well and told the officer as much. The officer reassured me that I wouldn’t be in trouble for this and allowed me to go about my night (i work overnight) My final thoughts are. I don’t claim to be superior on the road but i ask yall to give us truckers the respect and room we need to do our jobs. for the next necessity you need to survive might be what we’re hauling 🙂👍
That grated on me, too. Another non-word that drives me batty is "incentivize." What's wrong with "encourage," or "motivate?" I even use "incite," although that has a somewhat negative connotation these days.
Once, when I was going to yard sales, I was passing through this street that had cars parked on each side, leaving only room in the middle for one car to fit through. As I was passing through, a car entered from the other side. I'd been going through way before her. We soon came nose to nose, and I motioned for her to back up. She shook her head no. Now, there were empty spaces she'd passed by but none on my end. So, I put my car in park and dug in for the long haul. It didn't take long before she changed her mind on reversed into one of the empty slots. Another yard sale story was where I was parked at a yard sale and this woman decided to park in the road in front of me instead of behind me on the road edge. The only problem was that she completely blocked the road. No amount of me talking to her could get her to move. She kept telling me that the person who parked across from her that they needed to move. I was beside myself, until finally, the owner of the yard sale, who was parked across from her, said he'd move his car. One last story was at a gas station. It was a narrow aisle with a curb on the other side of the pumps. I pulled in first behind another car. While I was pumping, another car pulled in facing me. I waited until she was done and expected her to back out. She told me she couldn't because she didn't have reverse in her car. Great! I'll back out then; except I couldn't. A car had pulled in behind me. I put my car in reverse and motioned for that car to back up, but nope. She shook her head no. Now I was getting mad, and she knew it. I started to get out of my car to explain that the car in from of me didn't have a reverse, but I didn't make it very far when she decided to finally back up. I reversed and went on my way. I'm not sure if the other car made it out or not.
On this side of the world, one way of handling that last situation would have been to call the traffic police since I'm fairly sure that not having a reverse gear in your car would make it unroadworthy, meaning the only way it could leave would be on the back of a tow truck. And since leaving the car there would not be an option, a tow truck would be mandatory, whether called by the driver or called by the police.
The last story kind of reminds me of that one story where the lady had to do a TH-cam video apologizing about something she didn't do and how her lawyer husband used a wadda-call-it from the place he worked at where it made it seem like the law firm was going after a special needs school.
Must agree 100% that is IS the truck drivers job to do so safely and not hit people, but, it is 1) NOT your job to make it more difficult or to put yourself or others at needless risk...and 2) don't we teach defensive driving anymore? It IS our job each as drivers to be ready for the stupidity or error of others...and intentionally setting up a situation that could cause an accident, is not something to be proud of.....
Story 5: Wow, the company I used to work for (Fortune 100 corporation) had, IIRC, a "three strikes" no-call/no-show policy where three no-call/no-shows in a rolling 12-month period was automatically an immediate "voluntary resignation" from the company -- with progressing disciplinary measures on a point system for **any** tardiness or absence not scheduled more than 24 hours in advance. How that HR department expected any work to be done with them coddling that Karenoid is beyond me.
Love your show. After watching it for several months, I did watch my reactions to things that happened during my day, to make sure that I'm not a "Karen".
Last story... as soon as Karen called me at home, as an X-Employee... I would have contacted the HR and CCed Legal and advised them of the harassment and how HR's actions/inactions had already forced me to quit... and included all the details of what had happened before that point... With a polite request for compensation at the end. No threat of litigation written, but legal would see it and see it as something they could try to deal with before it got to the courts... which is public record.
Wow...that Karen that didn't want to work reminded me of what my sister was faced with when she was transferred to the traffic division of a metro police department, as a clerk supervisor. She had around 50 people under her, the vast majority of whom became enraged at her expecting them to actually do their jobs. They tried all kinds of nonsense (including outright lying) to get her fired and even tried to get the supervisor position permanently deleted. When she tried to instruct them as to how a certain job needed to be done, they told her she was completely wrong, which was hilarious, considering that SHE was the one who wrote the procedure manual! She also got no support from her bosses as they didn't want to be bothered with the situation.
One thing I loved about NYC when I drove a rig, run into a Karen blocking and refusing to move, the cops will tell you to move the POS with your bumper.....NYC'ers informed me more than once in NYC that I was #1, for double parking while unloading a full 53' van(nowhere to go and only delivery entrance) around Lunch time traffic....
I am disabled and my disability has gotten worse. I was working part time (3 days a week) and even then I was missing work. I had doctors notes for every absence. I called my supervisor at least an hour before any shift I had to miss. It finally got to the point that I had to go on short term disability leave. When it started to get close to the time I was scheduled to return I found out that the company was laying people off. Since I was going to have to extend my leave due to a surgery I contacted my work and told them that I was quitting so that someone else could keep their job. Some illnesses are unpredictable but that’s no excuse to not at least give notice when you can’t get to work.
I have had the psycho road rager be upset because I will not block the traffic. Every afternoon trying to get out of this garage was an act of frustration. People would pull through and block the intersection. So we have sat there through 3 light cycles. This lady behind me starts yelling and screaming, honking her horn. I raising my hand like I have no control over this. She started getting nasty. So I opened my car door and stepped out. Honking stops and she decided to turn right and slides over a soon as she has an opening. So please note I am a 6 foot tall female built like a football player. I am pretty sure that my size had an impact on her decision. The gun hanging on my right side might have had a little bit of impact too. When I have been in interviews, one of the question a I usually get us, "How do you handle conflict?" My answer, "Usually I just stand up."
I've had to deal with idiots on the road before but never had to deal with road rage. I might be lucky, or it could be the fact I have a bright red hat in my back window that says "FIREARMS INSTRUCTOR". I'm not, but I like the hat and it seems like a good deterrent.
Lady in the first story has no excuse. I've been in the same position as the customer in the first story, more ways than one: - I've been forgotten, both on the phone and in person. (When I choose to be non-imposing, I can almost disappear.) - I've been served food which had an ingredient to which I'm allergic. Either they forgot to omit it, or accidentally included it when it wasn't supposed to be there. (This happened more than once.) - I've been (accidentally) insulted on multiple occasions. I won't bore you with the specifics. Oh, I'm a middle-aged woman. Guess what! I politely explained my grievance, acknowledged the mistake was not deliberate (it wasn't), requested they be more careful in the future (sometimes they offer compensation in the form of a discount or free item), and GOT THE FUCK OVER IT. These Karens give all decent women a bad name. Worse when people EXPECT me to act like a Karen just because I'm in that demographic. I am, as a rule, polite and friendly to the customer service people. So they're usually polite and friendly to me. And when they fuck up, we behave like adults and deal with it. No Karen-tantrums here, thank you very much.
My son lives across the street from an elementary school and people block his driveway EVERY DAY. There are signs everywhere, but no one pays a bit of attention.
Story 3: Here’s some valuable advice for violent road ragers. If you notice them following you, drive to your nearest police station. They will either be stupid enough to follow and have the cops to deal with or leave you alone
11:27 this story, where a complete stranger is making threats to beat and/or kill someone due to a traffic situation that is totally out of their control reminded me of something that happened to me at a smallish local train station. At the time I (F) was 26. I had just walked down the long and steep stairs and I was heading over to the benches to take a seat and wait for the next train. About 2 minutes later 2 young men were walking down the stairs. Now as a young woman, alone at night, I realised immediately just how vulnerable I was and so I braced myself mentally, just in case. Well, almost immediately and before I had a chance to sit down, one of the guys had walked up to me and he demanded that I give him a cigarette, oh and another one for his friend. It was at this point I realised that two had initially split up and while one had walked directly up to me, the other guy had walked around the station building and was now approaching me from my other side. Inside I was incredibly nervous and afraid, but I was trying really hard not to show it. I said that I didn’t have any cigarettes and I thought that would be that. Oh no, no it wasn’t. The guy then asked again saying - give me your packet of cigarettes Now!! I repeated that I didn’t have any cigarettes, clutching my bag to my body because he and his friend were now standing right next to me. I had the guy in front of me, his friend to my left and a bench behind. Give me your f-ing smokes NOW or I’ll f-ing beat you, I’ll g-ing STAB you so gimme them. I’m thinking wow, that escalated fast. At this point I noticed out of the corner of my eye someone walking across the footbridge heading towards the stairs and I was so relieved. These guys noticed it too because they kinda took a step back from me and tried to act like everything was fine. I knew the train would get here any moment now and I just wanted this to be over. Thankfully several more people were arriving at the station and I made an effort to move over to my right, away from the friend and closer to a more illuminated area. Just as relief was washing over me, the guy said - give ME the cigarettes NOW or I’ll f-ing KILL you. Now a few people heard that and one gentleman had started making his way towards me. My hero. It was at this point that I looked at these guys and I said - seriously, you’re going to KILL ME for a cigarette? You’re prepared to go to jail for the rest of your lives for a cigarette? The train arrived and was pulling in at this moment and everyone was distracted for a few seconds, the bad guy was just about to step closer towards me and say something when the hero stepped between us and shouted at them to leave me alone. One guy took off running and just as the main guy was about to leave too the gentleman hero guy grabbed him and twisted his arm behind his back. Just then several police officers came running (and waddling) down the stairs all out of breath and began to take the guy into custody. From what they were saying they had picked up his buddy in the park next to the station. Someone had called the cops and these 2 guys had also been bothering people all evening. Cops had been looking for them and they had slipped down to the station platforms to get off the street. The guy that walked up originally and grabbed him was a detective. I’m not sure if someone had seen the situation on the station CCTV and reported it if they had just found them but it was good timing regardless. With hindsight, I don’t think anything really bad would have happened but at the time it was really really scary. I just told them what had happened and I was given a lift home. I don’t know what happened to the two guys. But they had obviously done something earlier that night. Yeah, that’s it, not really that exciting but just crazy that someone would threaten to kill somebody over something so trivial and ridiculous.
My driveway is blocked everyday before and after school by Karen's. I also got into a shouting match with a male Karen or Chad whatever u call them. Told him it's against the law to block my driveway and garage. Needless to say I was late for my doctor appointment. Cops were a no show and I emailed the school and never heard back.
First story: I worked in retail and was the cashier. When I first started out I accidentally hung up on a few people or forgot them on the phone or it got pretty busy and if they called back I apologized profusely. Most were understanding and ok with it a few were understandably upset with me. I never had to deal with a Karen which is very surprising.
Semi story reminded me of this twit in FL some years back. My husband is a lineman and was in FL about 5 years ago for a hurricane. Bucket trucks going down the highway, doing what they do. One guy was in the far right lane, slowing down to exit. This Karen was on his driver's side, pacing him as she signaled to get over in front of him to exit as well. At about 30 mhp, this woman turned in front of this bucket truck doing the same speed, forcing him to t-bone her. The passenger side of her car is toast, they pull over, she stumbles out crying about her everything hurts, call paramedics, her husband blahblahblah. Until the driver said he had a dash cam, and the gas station they pulled into offered their footage from their cameras as well. She suddenly was fine, called her husband off, and ended up with about $7000 in tickets and fines. 😂😂😂. Yay, Karen!!!
18:32 yeah, I have been as a human resource representative for multiple companies for over 15 years either the person posting this story is lying or something else going on as human resources. When we get threatened to be sued, we immediately involve lawyers and document things we do not tell the manager that he or she cannot give certain assignments today, Employees especially if they don’t have, a legal document from a doctor or something similar stating that employee cannot do certain tasks. I do not know what country that takes place in but if it’s in the US then it’s highly unlikely.
I work in retail, I've worked in retail for 5 years now I've had one Karen encounter and it was during COVID "I'm never shopping here again, I'm going to shop at Publix from now on, atleast they wear a mask" Literally one person wasn't wearing a mask and it was another customer About 2 years later she came in with her husband and I over heard them say "I told you I don't like shopping here anymore, they are rude people" "Ok and I have coupons and we get a discount here, but oh if you ask for a discount card at Publix you get laughed at, were shopping here today"
That karen continuing to harass after he left the company...sounds like it would have been a great opportunity to hire a lawyer and go after them for actual harassment
Car and semi: i can picture that a number of drivers get out of their cars and physically pick up that person's car and physically move it - to a spot that would strand it/prevent it from moving anywhere! 😅
I have seen someone do what that Karen did in a turn lane so a semi couldn’t move. This person even had the audacity to pull up even further so they were slightly under the trailer. I’m so surprised the driver didn’t get out to fight the car driver. The cops did come, make the “Kevin” back up, then proceeded to ticket him and let the semi go.
Last story: I loved it when she demanded OP give her the number for HR at OP's new company. Like, sure I'd be happy to give you that number so you can get me fired from my new job. 😂😂😂 Story 1: Anyone with any common sense would know that customers who took the time and effort to get their butts to the store get priority over the customers on the phone. That woman only wasted more of her time going to the store and still not getting the game she wanted. Yeesh! After 5 minutes you give up and just call again later. Some people are just dense. Again, some people are really dense. I was waiting to turn left at a light in an area that's mostly industrial parks. I saw the semi turning left right in front of me and watched him very carefully to see if he was going to make it or if I was going to have to back up, because, common sense dictates that I don't want my car to get hit. Fortunately, he made it. 😊
That story about the Karen that followed Op reminded me of the time my husband and I had some guy follow us home and start bitching at us because he had his window down while there were puddles everywhere and he got a few water drops on him when we went by but made it out like he got splashed and that it soaked the inside of his vehicle, which I know it wasn't cuz I could see the inside when he got out to bitch. There was literally nothing that he could do to us. If he called the cops they would laugh, if he tried to fight my husband I would call the cops. Total waste of time.
Karen not showing up to work and getting rewarded for it is wild. We've all had those coworkers and everyone hates them. They should have fired her after her 2nd NCNS and her "lawsuit" would have been thrown out
Story 5: At one place I used to work, if you went on long time disability you were guaranteed a job at the same pay but not the same job or department.
I had a car parked IN my driveway 3 times. The first 2 times I called a tow company and had it towed. The third time a pulled it out of my drive, wrapped the chain around the steering and moved it into the middle of a busy street, disconnected my chain and called the police. Only took about 3 minutes before they were there. Never parked in my drive again.
Karens: "How dare you waste 10 minutes of my time, I'm going to waste HOURS of my time to try and get you fired and yelled at!" 😂
"You're trying to get me fired from Gamestop?
Firing Karen wasn't enough. They should've fired the entire Inhuman Resources team as well for allowing this to happen in the first place.
Yup, that HR team needs to be replaced
@@tara_lynnnn_ um... ok. This relates to what you're replying to... how?
Story #1: I don’t believe she could afford to give anyone a piece of her mind, not that it’s in all that good of shape either.
I wanna give you a piece of my mind...
We can't accept something that small...
@@chezsnailez pull out a jewelers loupe and go, ok let's see it. 😂
Probably she's given people a piece of her mind many times before, that's why there's so little left.
I was wondering if she could spare it.
Won't accept any rotten piece... Even zombies would reject her offer.
Fun fact. A turning semi has the right of way. If you stand your ground it's a ticket. They teach us to pull our brakes and wait.
Turning semis still have to obey the rules of the road, they can't just turn into traffic.
@@royn7093 Bad laws exist...we know this. Thank you for stating your state has bad laws.
Lugnuts rule is a hell of rule.
How can she give a piece of her mind when she doesn't have one?
Driveway blocker story: At least Karen didn't wind up paying impound lot storage fees on top of it all. She should be thankful for that.
If it was so far from her house, why did she park there and not closer?
This second story actually has a video on TH-cam. I watched it a few months ago
I think her ego got shattered when she waited for ten minutes
at least the manager had OPs back unlike most management that would likely side with the Karen and do as she asked or worse
Coming into the store to shriek at the employee warranted calling security.
Most likely there wasn't any security to call.
Cops would be good.
I live in FL. That kind of mess will get you shot. You never know when they will "Stand their ground".
😒 lol
If you miss 24 days you would be fired immediately and the HR department should be replaced with someone who would fire her immediately
They did fire her soon after the Snr VP took over. That tells you alot about how incompetent the HR department was.
Sadly with the laws more in the workers side, companies can't do that even with documentation without risking to get sue...
3 days would count as job abandonment here in new zealand
@@josephmckee3605 same as no call no show in the USA
@@mariluro5399 Unless the entire company has evidence back them up if the Karen tries to sue the company.
If you call you are just a person on the phone, if you come into the store just to harass someone you are a psycho, if you go into a store and buy something then and only then are you a customer.
Disney stores call people just enter just to browse "guests" it's a little inside joke they had to describe people who don't buy anything
In my state Karen just holding the phone while in traffic, moving or not, is illegal and a $234 fine. Deliberately blocking traffic is illegal too.
The first story sounds ridiculous, but I actually had that happen to me. I had a lady yelling at me and filming me because I wouldn't fire an employee in front of her for being rude. (He had told another customer to put a mask on.) People like this are why I can't stand working in Food Service anymore.
Story 1: Apparently Karen has given away too many pieces of her mind...
I'm picturing swiss cheese 😆🧀
And she had little enough to spare when she started.
That first Karen can't give anyone a piece of her mind. She can't spare it.
"she got me writen up multiple times wrongly but I did nothing about it, wanted me fired so I quit"
is NOT the win he thinks it is??
“I came here to give you a piece of my mind!”
I’d be like: Whoa, now! I don’t think you can spare that, ma’am! You should hold on to whatever little you have left!
You cannot fix that kind of stupid in the last story, it goes into her DNA.
Let's hope her kids take after their dad. It sounds like he was at least smart enough to run away.😂
Now what's HRs excuse? How crappy are their lawyers that a lawsuit scared them that bad? Is their law team Ted from Scrubs?
No legal ways to fix stupid anyway.
Story 5: Karen be like "I'm gonna tell on you!" like a 5yo lol
Story 5- That is insane! I wonder how such a lazy woman even got that job in the first place. Or did she become lazy after her minor accident? Either way, I'm in shock how that HR handled that. I would think the head of HR should have been let go too.
Story 5 : is it karen have a friend in HR ? I wonder if OP can sued them ?
It sucks but this does happen. You threaten a lawsuit, and companies let people get away with all sorts of ridiculous crap because they are scared of going to court even if there is no real case. 😮💨
I think their legal team is Ted from Scrubs if a lawsuit scared them that bad
I’ve gotten honked at for driving the speed limit. It’s bananas out here
I've been passed at high speed while I was doing the limit.
Story 1: "I want to give you a piece of my mind!"
Me: "Better not. Sounds like you don't have that much to give out for charity."
Your dad is on hold with USA for an hour or more? Dang I’ve never had more than 30
We were trying to do something with our taxes, getting something switched from mine to my husband’s.
"Pride is not the opposite of shame, but its source. True humility is the only antidote to shame."
S1: She wasted hours of her day, gas money and other people’s time because she felt she deserved to watch someone else get belittled, yelled at and possibly fired? Her life must really suck. I’d have asked her if she needs a cookie.
The threatening Karen would have had to prove she can kick my ass.
Last story: Yeah, the people and companies who think you can and should be punished for things you do outside of the job(barring crimes of course) are fucking stupid. The airline I used to work for decided they had the right to patrol everything their employees do off the clock because “You’re always representing your company.”
Ummm…no. Companies have to learn they do not own their employees’ off the clock time
Companies want to make us modern-day serfs
@@raarasunai4896 Fuckin YIKES dude that’s insane
I think the worst part of the last one is the spineless HR department, enabling wastrals
Story 5: I would sue Karen for corporate fraud and then threaten HR with a lawsuit for enabling her.
The woman stating she should give the other driver a beat down is clearly Felisha behavior.
Most likely there were reports.
If Karen threatened me..... "Let's go, B**tch, we'll see who spends the night in the ER!" 😡
Story 3: People like this are why I never go anywhere without my sidearm.
Love the Fluff. You should totally do an entire post devoted to stories where the OP is the entitled one. Those crack me up
Last story: That was an incompetent HR or there was a conflict of interest between the HR and Karen.
#1: Whenever somebody says they're going to give me a piece of their mind, I always have to wonder of they can really spare any.
Another Felisha getting her car towed.
13:15 There is no such word as 'Conversate', the word is 'Converse'.
That grated on me, too. Another non-word that drives me batty is "incentivize." What's wrong with "encourage," or "motivate?" I even use "incite," although that has a somewhat negative connotation these days.
Actually, there is.
Wtf is wrong with people? O.o
I remember that one.

I love that story! My mum in-law is a math teacher and she cry-laughed at that one!😂
Thanks for the stories DF. Some people shouldnt give anyone a piece of their mind. They cant afford to lose any.
I’ve never heard of an HR department like that! Most HR reps are ready for battle! They enjoy making employees cry and wither away.
Cholesterol Karen blocking an artery...
This is the most unsatisfactory list. Most of these karens got away unscathed
Lady in the first story has no excuse. I've been in the same position as the customer in the first story, more ways than one:
- I've been forgotten, both on the phone and in person. (When I choose to be non-imposing, I can almost disappear.)
- I've been served food which had an ingredient to which I'm allergic. Either they forgot to omit it, or accidentally included it when it wasn't supposed to be there. (This happened more than once.)
- I've been (accidentally) insulted on multiple occasions.
With hindsight,
I don’t think anything really bad would have happened but at the time it was really really scary.
If she told me "I came down here to give you a piece of my mind." Me: "Do you think you can spare it?"
Yay, Karen!!!
she really couldn't afford to come to give them a piece of her mind... clearly she can't spare any, she has done it so many times she has none left
Some companies are wracked with stupidity, incompetence, or both, I reckon this was one of those companies
I work in retail, I've worked in retail for 5 years now
I've had one Karen encounter and it was during COVID
"I'm never shopping here again, I'm going to shop at Publix from now on, atleast they wear a mask"
Literally one person wasn't wearing a mask and it was another customer
About 2 years later she came in with her husband and I over heard them say "I told you I don't like shopping here anymore, they are rude people"
"Ok and I have coupons and we get a discount here, but oh if you ask for a discount card at Publix you get laughed at, were shopping here today"
I saw once someone blocked the semi like this and amazingly about 7 muscle men showed up, picked the car up and moved it out of the way...lol
Complainer: "I just came here to give you a piece of my mind."
Other Customer: "I wouldn't if I were you. You obviously can't spare it."
That karen continuing to harass after he left the company...sounds like it would have been a great opportunity to hire a lawyer and go after them for actual harassment
If she gave you a piece of her mind, she would have VERY little left.
Why am I not surprised the last Karen in the final story was a self righteous and spoiled single mother.
Story 1: Anyone with any common sense would know that customers who took the time and effort to get their butts to the store get priority over the customers on the phone.
"I wanted to give you a piece of my mind."
"Ma'am, I don't yhink you have any to spare."
