I have mad respect for mailpersons ....I was saved by a mailman once. It was winter I was quite young and we were feeding the ducks by the creek when we slipped from the area up by the road to actually down at the water, the banks were straight ice and there was no hope of climbing up. We had been stuck there for a bit when a mailman discovered us, he took off his belt and lowered the large belt buckle down to us to grab onto and he pulled each of us up to safety. So Paul the mailman who saved 2 little girls in the 80s, thank you you are remembered. (I assume his name is Paul because his belt buckle was a large oval that said PAUL in big letters)

I reiterate, for the mail story, take it from Sam the Eagle, "Let this serve as a reminder to us all: opening mail that does not belong to you is a federal offense, you could go to prison! Thank you."

Your boss taps your phone: Creepy, he gets a fine
Your potential boss asks for your Facebook password on a job application, so HR can check your PM's (actually happened in the UK): Mild, quickly-forgotten controversy, "we did an internal review and found ourselves innocent", "Well, they wouldn't want to employ an alt-right member would they?"

I have always been told that it's a federal offense to deliver an Amazon package into a mailbox even if the delivery instructions are "Please put in mailbox"? If it is, then is it a federal offense to have your neighbor pick up your mail while you're out of town? I would think it comes down to the fact that people are much more likely to report Amazon workers than their neighbors. It's just really weird. And yet nothing happened when I reported that my mail carrier had thrown my mail on the ground outside my skeevy apartment building, including a shirt I needed for a show and had been excitedly waiting for, just because there was too much junk mail in the tiny mailbox. The junk was still there, but my shirt was long gone. Yeesh.

Janice's story is probably the only story I've heard on reddit that really brought me to tears. How could it not? 😞 music is such a special bonding experience between two people who already care for one another. You create your own little world where only you belong and that's totally perfect. I wish we could know what Janice's future would've been had she lived. I bet she'd be famous. Poor love, I hope she has her dream horn in heaven. 🥺

I am sure that Janice would have pursued her dreams to perform across the world were she still here today. Being a fellow musician and music major, the experience of performing with friends is something that is amazing and unforgettable. It changes people, giving them a doorway to show their emotions in ways that are not possible through speech or writing alone. while it is sad that she is no longer here, the OP is doing her part to keep her friend alive by using her trumpet still. It's a way to keep her alive even in death.

I love how when Karens see a person helping another they automatically think that person works there just because of freaking helping someone. Just because someone helps somebody else actually means kindness not being an employee. If I ever meet a Karen in that situation I would say, "Just because someone helps another doesn't always mean they work there, it's called kindness. Which apparently you are in capable of because your too damn entitled, care too much about yourself and need to get over yourself.".

@@DalokiMauvais I will loudly interrupt them. Plus, the thing about it is that they don't view employees as people, they see them as tools to be used. So in their minds, since they'd never help another person for free, clearly the person who is helping people is only doing so because they're being paid to do it. These kinds of people are awful and you're better off avoiding them if you can, but if you can't, make sure there are cameras and other people in the area before things escalate to their natural conclusion. If you're lucky you can teach them a lesson about respecting others and get paid for it out of their pocket instead of yours.

In my previous home, I had a trash neighbor who parked his boat and trailer on my property. He even knocked down my chain link fence so that it was parked on the side of my house into my back yard. When I told him to move it, he refused, so I said I'd have it towed. He informed me that his Dad was the State police Lt. and nobody would tow it cause of that. So I posted a sign that stated the space was available for rent for storage for $100 per day. He laughed and ridiculed me and ignored the sign for a year, then I served him with my lawsuit. He ignored the summons completely even after I had a Sheriff's Deputy serve him. I won the default judgement against him and put a lien on his boat, his new car, and the house. That brought his Dad to my house. He demanded to know why I put a lien on his son's car, which he consigned for, and on his house. I showed him the numerous cease and desist letters, the lawsuit and summons his son ignored, and the judgement in my favor. His father tried to negotiate with me, but I calmly explained how I couldn't get the boat off my property due to him, so either his son pays up in full, or I was proceeding with collections in full. I said I understand his dilemma, and that he could lose his job and pension, but since he'd been a complete tw*t waffle by allowing this to go on, and throwing his power and position around to enable his son, that he had a choice. He could pay me 100%, or kick his son out turn the car over to me ven though he would still be fully responsible for the car loan, and sell the boat. His son would then be responsible for the rest of the judgement by himself then, and I'd remove the Dad from it, or he would get canned from the State police for having a huge outstanding judgement against him. Our state won't allow a Trooper to stay employed if they have an outstanding judgement against them, so he was screwed. He ended up having the bank repossess the car, sold the boat and house and paid the massive judgement to keep his job. His son then got busted several months later for distribution of narcotics, and his parents home was seized and forfeited to the DEA. His kid is in Federal prison, and the Dad took an early retirement for a third less of his full pension amount. He now works for a local alarm company.

The final detail of your story that convinced me it wasn’t true: after the son was “sent to federal prison”, supposedly the “parent’s house” (which parents - your next door neighbor’s parents {his dad} or your neighbor’s dad’s parents {your next door neighbor’s grandparents} ?) was “seized and forfeited to the DEA” . That can not happen in the USA. No matter what someone is convicted of, their family members will not have their own property forfeited to any person/business/governmental agency on behalf of the criminal. Your story is pure fantasy.
And the word is *cosigned* not coNsigned. Two very different meanings.

The story about the peeping kid, THAT is the exact reason why I NEVER just leave my keys laying around, my sister gives me a bad time about having my keys in my pocket when I'm home, but I'm a private person, and if someone grabbed my key, or one of my spare keys, and something like that happens, I'd most likely spend the night in jail punching the person who swiped it in the face, and kick the peeping kid in the nuts and cause the kid to be scared to death of me and my SO. I keep my keys where I know where they are, and no one else.
As for the hot car story, I honestly believe that people who willingly leave their kids and pets in their vehicles during the hot summer, should be forced to sit in a black vehicle for a little longer than they left their kid/pet. I've had to sit in a vehicle without AC for a hour before, that was black, in the middle of the hots time of July, I would not leave any pet or kid in a vehicle of ANY color during the summer time. I'd either take them with me, or hire a sitter for them.

Story 1: Always. Press. Charges. Karen will never learn that their actions have consequences unless they are arrested & prosecuted for their crimes. Never allow this stuff.
Story 2: If it ever happens to me my response to a Karen demanding a manager fire me would be "You can't fire a customer Karen!" and then walking away.
Story 3: OP should have had the trailer towed off the property...at neighbor's expense...after putting up the cameras. Calling the police for the "abandoned" trailer would also work.
Story 4: OP should have just kept all the presents...if noting else than just to spite her mom. She could always give them to a charity after keeping them for a while.
Story 6: OP could have told Karen that her friend's boobs are REAL and that God is the one who gave them to her so maybe Karen can complain to Him.
Story 7: "Hey asshole...would an employee be able to say FUCK YOU and I'll beat the shit out of you with this frozen turkey?" And then put my bird in my buggy and leave.
Story 9: Had I been the prosecutor I would have closed with "By the defendant's own testimony she freely admitted to trying to unlawfully take the child away from her mother."
Story 11: OP should have gotten a TRO while the Karen when arrested with a distance of greater than where her apartment is...that would have solved both the problems.
Story 12: If you are being followed (stalked) call the police and arrange to meet an officer in their station's parking lot...drive there and let them know you are there.
Story 13: Good Samaritan laws protect people that do things like OP did to save someone's life...Both the US and most of Australia have these laws in place.
Story 15: Texas...like my state...is a Castle Doctrine & Stand Your Ground state. That criminal is damn lucky that the Mom didn't kill him. It would have been a legal shoot.
Story 17: OP did not have to wait for the police but he probably figured that waiting was better than a felony police stop in the middle of the Autobahn before clearing it up.

you have a weird way of numbering stories.
if you skip a story, you need to skip the number too.
story 1 is the lady rushing to the front of the plane.

the walmart one got me because I've seen this happen so many times. I've had it happen to myself on occasion when walking into work to start my shift. I won't even be clocked in, so I don't have to do anything, and they will grab me just because I have a work shirt on and ask me to do something for them. It's so frustrating and most of the time they never listen.
Also, the one with the trumpet absolutely ticked me off. I am a musician myself, and unless someone has special permission, or is my instructor, they don't touch my flute or piccolo because they are expensive and precious to me. No one should touch or play another persons instrument unless they have permission. To hear that an entitled parent tried to force the OP to let her son play her friends trumpet because she was dead and he was a better player is one of the worst things someone can do to a person. If someone did that to me, I would not hesitate to hit them because that is one of the rudest things you can say about a musician.

As a lady who has grown up around guns all of my life, I really need to make an important point here...
Please, ladies, do NOT keep your firearm in your purse in of all places. It takes way too much time to get it out when split-seconds count and your life is under imminent threat. There was a study with videos showing a man coming up to attack a female with her purse and her trying to get her firearm out for protection. They had a whole list of different scenarios and none of them favored the lady with the gun in her purse. None. Especially the one where the attacker came from behind in an attempt to steal her purse. So not only did he get a purse, he got one with a firearm.
So, if you’re going to be armed, which isn’t a bad thing if you take classes and refresher courses on a regular basis in proficiency, safety etc., do Not put it in your purse. There are so many ways for us to be concealed nowadays, it will be easy enough to find what is comfortable and works best for us without a purse.
I live in the Interior of Alaska so we don’t have any concealment laws, and it’s not a shock to see others armed in and around town either. And to be honest, I like it that way. Heck, if you’re pulled over, you need to tell the officer you have a weapon. They are so nonchalant over it all and the next thing you will see is your firearm sitting on top of your vehicle with the magazine pulled out and your gun is showing nothing in the chamber. It’s very much par for the course, I guess.
I had one of the best doctors I could ever have had years back. She carried her firearm in her purse and she even had a special purse where it was made to supposedly make it easier to pull out. When I told her what I had learned and encouraged her to take her purse out with her in the weekends where her husband and her have their own club and try it out. The next time I saw her, she pulled up her blouse to show me she had changed her ways to concealment on her body. I just simply stated, “I guess your purse didn’t hold up?” And she came back with a whole bunch of frustration of the different scenarios they had set up and her purse failed every single one. Please note, my mind had been fresh with the study and videos, so I was able to expand a great deal more than I am sadly doing here. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if they had something on yt to show the purse scenario. I do know a lot of people tried it out, especially us ladies who had wanted to prove them wrong, but couldn’t in the end.
This is why it is so important to practice practice practice and then practice some more. You need to instill muscle memory. Those few split-seconds may end up being what saves you/your loved ones life. And for goodness sakes, keep your handgun out of your damn purse.
    Be safe.

In my country, it is normal for people to get up earlier to be the first to leave the plane, bus or whatever means of transport. As I researched it, I discovered that in other countries people disembark according to their seat, the front ones first and then the back ones, as if it were a queue. Why are there Karens? A large part of it is clearly NPD - Narcissistic Personal Disorder. Such people truly have no regard for you or your boundaries - whatever they want is absolutely due to them in their mind, and getting a 'no' is an absolute violation of their rights. This condition is an absolute nightmare for all concerned, but especially for the person with it as it tends to destroy their lives. Unfortunately, they often bring others down with them. I've said similar before... When you're in store, know the uniform, know the logo, look for those when seeking assistance. It's not that hard. If a store has no uniform and you're not sure, six simple words ("excuse me, do you work here?") would clear up confusion in a heartbeat. When in Walmart, for example, I don't just look for someone wearing blue. I check for the logo. Then I ask politely "do you know where X is?" I do the same in any given store. Many times I've gotten help that goes above and beyond. There's a right and wrong way to do these things, and how so many Karens can screw up something so simple is baffling.

    • @nancyomalley6286
      @nancyomalley6286 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @namethestars
      @namethestars ปีที่แล้ว +2

I was actually mistaken once for an employee of a media store, doesn't happen often but it's in the delivery of how they handle it when the mistake has been made - this person has a for instance was very kind, respectful and simply wanted to know where a film was that he couldn't find. Now I could have directed him to the staff and if he had been anything less than polite I might have but because I knew the layout of the store and knew where practically everything was I was able to find the item and he was happy. Only after I'd procured it did he realise I wasn't one of the workers 😂
Very apologetic, nice young man who I was quick to tell it was fine and I'm just glad he got the item. It's all about the courtesy you extend to the person who might not necessarily work there and I think that's something most Karens forget, you are more likely to get a kind response/reaction by being humble rather than demanding, insisting; respect is something they seem to be clinically unaware of going by their actions.

    • @hollyhartwick3832
      @hollyhartwick3832 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@namethestars Definitely. There are some wholesome stories of honest mistakes, but most of these yahoos see blue in Walmart or red in Target and don't get past that. That what always pushes it from oops to meltdown.

Life Pro Tip: Narcissist parents will often use their children as tools to garner some advantage in any situation... using them as emotional tools, or even telling children to do dangerous or harmful things. The narc parent's reasoning is that the child will not get in trouble or receive the benefit of the doubt, or even try to twist the situation in order to get someone else in trouble for harming their child. Remember this, parents are 100% responsible for their child's actions. It will always benefit you to remind them of this fact if you suspect this is the case when dealing with a Karen such as mentioning, "You know, having your rugrat do things unsupervised, and/or harassing others won't get them in trouble, but you will get in trouble seeing as how you are their parent, that makes you responsible for their actions. If they run around hitting people, you are assaulting people. If they break something of value, you will be charged with destruction of property. Stop using your child like a tool and shield."
P.S. When video footage is there for evidence, you should implore that the officer has the Karen fill out a report, as Karen will inevitably lie in writing the report. This works wonderfully if Karen knows nothing of the cameras, or that any video footage exists. Sometimes though, the Karen is too stupid and even with knowing about it, will still lie in the report. This helps squash the wild Karen population to manageable numbers because the officers have no choice but to arrest for filing a false report, plus whatever the video shows.

Always press charges. ALWAYS. If you don’t press charges it’s YOUR fault when some poor fool didn’t lock his door and she tries to steal it. And because you didn’t press charges she doesn’t have it on her record so the cops won’t know who to believe.

I love the parts where the managers of the stores play along with the "You're fired!" notions since I got quite a few situations where customers often mistaken me as one of the employees. But most of the times they're just politely asked me about where to find some stuffs from which isles etc. I guess I really have that strong retail worker aura 😂

@@SilverionX luckily I was at home. I rarely drink, once a year on new years eve to be exact, and that was the first time I drank enough to actually get drunk. in hindsight me falling over in the kitchen then falling over again while getting back up was kind of funny.

the heavy charges regarding mail tempering is actually quite logic. The number of sensitive information you can get/destroy/alter when you mess with a box ! And the possibility that some packages contain expansive items !

A lot of these Karen's are lucky to not have charged pressed on them, only for them to become even more emboldened to do it again to someone else. The Karen who pretended live in Ops house, I would've left when she told me to leave and went out of sight and called the police and said people were trespassing on her property and wait for it... Pressed Charges.. Lol

people like that annoy me. faking like they own expensive things, claim they own things when its someone else's and ESPECIALLY taking photos of peoples expensive things like they own it, and posting it on social media. that is so stupid.

2nd story to Karen’s credit it is the most frustrating thing to have landed and be ready to go and have to wait for all the slow people in the rows in front of you to get off. And the only reason why this happens is because airports care more about money than efficiency.

I think it depends on how they can play their cards best.
Small female Karen - best to assault a big strong guy and play the victim afterwards, to get the maximum power trip.
Big and loud Karen - go after people who are shy, introverted, isolated to intimidate and physically & psychologically harm them.

I love listening to these! I'm bed ridden now, so I don't get to go out into public very often. About once a month I get to get into my wheelchair and escape my apartment, but thats only for doctor's appointments. I haven't been to a grocery store, or a book store, or toy store in years! I really miss going out into the real world and people watching the crazies out there!!!
I'm an artist, and I remember decade's back when i used to find a comfortable spot on the floor in some corner at the mall with my sketchbook and art kit, and I'd draw the people and sometimes crazy crap going on around me. Sometimes people would stop and ask what I was doing, sometimes they would ask to buy some of my drawings, it was fun.... But I cant sit on floors anymore. My service dog draws too much attention and I just can't keep people away. And I don't do well anymore being away from home for more than an hour... Even sitting in my wheelchair causes pain.
So it's fun to listen to your stories and imagine.

This was an amazing way to spend 2 hours! I've heard the stories before, but they still made me smile, angry, happy, and sad.
The story about the trumpet always gets to me. It makes my heart hurt that Janice died, but it makes my heart happy that her trumpet brings such joy to her friend.
Thank you so much for all of the time and effort you put in to all the stories. They are very much appreciated. I click on the notice as soon as it comes up knowing I'll have a bit of a vacation from my own problems hearing about entitled people, people who don't listen, and people who just don't seem to have the brains that God promised a soggy bowl of cornflakes.
    Blessings
