Coming up on the 29th of the February 2024 - exactly 44 years ago when this was recorded. It STILL sounds as outstanding as the day it was recorded! Rest in Peace Chet Baker.
Dear Chet, The year is 2022, July 28th to be exact. The world is rapidly falling into chaos and I find peace and refuge in your music. You and Your music lives on forever. Rest in paradise Mr. Baker.
Chat Baker is a spontaneous composer! Unlike many jazz musicians, he does not limit himself to platitudes and appeals in his improvisations. He always follows a melody that has already started and tells stories that go deep into the soul of everyone who has ears to hear. In this live recording he conveyed to his fellow musicians through his melodic playing that melody stands for “love” (without love there is no life in this world). All fellow musicians were inspired by Chat in this live recording and have thus left an immortal video for humanity.

These clips/tunes/improves of a date Chet Baker played in Paris place, front and center, all the reasons he is considered one of the greatest musicians of all time. The intense concentration in improvisation, the warn tone that he retains even in the fastest tunes, the compelling use of space and hesitation, the subdued, prolonged passages that suddenly erupt into swashbuckling fire, the emotion that always imbues everything he does... all these added up to unforgettable performances. And one thing more, most important: a sense of the "hip" that is genuine and not forced. On this first tune the out-chorus of melody with the saxophonist makes you think of being in a sleek, low-slung Lamborghini convertible, racing down an Alpine road on a warm spring day with the engine singing its own paean to speed and liberation and the pine trees and streams racing by in a blur. Go man!
Best ever rendition of Round Midnight IMHO. I don't normally like sax much but this guy has a lovely mellow style and tone. And Chet is, well... Chet! His timing and emotion are fabulous.
But his music will always be with us, forever! His subtle, sensual sound was unique and could evoke deep feelings in one's soul! Greeting from Jazz man Kuala Lumpur!

I reserve the right to be wrong, but it appears to me that the video and audio are out of sync. I hear a cascade of notes when fingers are not moving, and I see fingers moving rapidly when sounds are sustained. Still, the performance is well worth listening to.
That sax solo on Round Midnight was excellent who is that guy? Is he French? Italian? The more I listen I can't believe how great he is with his sound, his smoothness and his selection. The pianist is certainly adept but feels a little stiff to me on solos. Great bassist and drummer as well.

Essere un musicista e' diverso dal fare il musicista
Anche se facendo il musicista si guadagna ed essendolo molto spesso no
Yes, Chet is timeless and immortal! Long live Chet!!!!!!
Heard him the year after at the festival of jazz, all stunning play and song! 🥰

I can feel thet jazz dancing with my soul now.
Un très grand monsieur!
So wild that black an white video was still prevalent in 1980.
Round midnight ...tout est dit.
Qué verdad aquello de que en Francia tratan a los músicos de jazz como a personas....
Just watched a lot of the videos, fm '80 to '88, and one can see the progression of his addiction; so sad
Una Delicia de Musica merci beaucoup M Baker

Could those vocals be Ella's influence? I suspect it is. Beautiful stuff
the clientele did not realise they had stepped into a time-machine to be transported to 1957.
How is this sound quality even possible? Anyone know what it was recored on? Crazy man...

Como é o nome do senhor segundo tema do vídeo
Does anyone know and can tell me where in Paris this concert took place?
Very great sound. Is it the conn connstellation 38B?
I believe so, I had a retro version from June of '78, I am sorry that I sold it. I do like my Bobby Shew though, from December of '06.
@@HADJEE I've got one as well, from '59 but i bought a martin committee from '40 the tunes is pretty similar but it's less heavy than the conn.
@@tistefou Yes, the Conns are tanks with funny valves, but what a blow and sound! My Shew is like a Committee, but lighter and plays in tune!
