    As an old man I tell young people that if they join the military and are in for 20 years that they can retire with half pay and get 2 payshecks rest of life like if they were making 50k they could get 25k but i tell them to do their own research Now I hear even army reserve get this but then again look into it.

    HB I’m a dentist in Brazilian navy and what you said about the amount of money you can make outside the military is also true in Brazil. Dentists and physicians for example make almost 3 times their paycheck in the navy. And I should confess that is a hard decision deciding stay in the navy. You should love your job and your country, otherwise you’ll give up. But I stayed and I don’t regret. Actually I’m proud to be here.
    Thank you for your videos. Keep it up!

      Thanks! Duty to the country is more important than mere money, but hey people will make the decisions they consider the best for themselves, or for what they care about. You've made the more noble choice!

    Correction to your video…anything with “pay” is taxable. Base pay, sea pay, hardship duty pay. Everything with “allowance” is not taxable. Clothing, BAH, BAS, family separation allowance.

    • @HaedenBeck
      @HaedenBeck  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I said the only thing taxable is the base pay, not any allowances. Thanks for the clarification.

      @@HaedenBeck Yeah, that’s why I said correction to your video. You said the ONLY THING TAXABLE IS BASE PAY. Which is wrong, so I provided further information.

      If you're reserves you go to boot camp and A school like a regular recruit and then your career splits off from the active duty experience.

    Are you satisfied with your pay? Im 20 years old joining for one enlistment to get college benefits and the opportunity to travel and learn a valuable skill. But the pay seems good for my age with not much experience considering that most expenses are paid for already by the Navy.

    • @HaedenBeck
      @HaedenBeck  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Absolutely. In a few months in the Navy I far surpassed the paycheck size of my last job that took 7 years to build up. The bigger difference though is that in the civilian world over half my pay went to bills like rent and stuff but here I'm able to save almost all of my pay. If you're coming for college benefits, travel, and skills, it's definitely a great stepping stone and you can save some money along the way if you play your cards right. Best of luck!

      @@James-hs1eq so i did 1 contract and am trying to actually reenlist. But the alot of people think the pay is horrible, but what do you have to pay for? A phone bill really is all. They give food, medical and everything. Especially being young and taking the benefits for education is worth it because 4 years isn’t anything

      @@anthonysequeira8448 That's good to hear! I browse on the Navy subreddit sometimes and a lot of servicemembers complain that the pay isn't enough so that got me a bit concerned. I know the pay isn't the best, but it seems decent enough if all the benefits are taken into consideration. Plus I'm doing this more for getting experience and skills than money at my age.

      Bahrain is a tax free zone, and with separation pay, OHA, etc. it's $9,000 a month gross pay.
