How long does the 18v 2.5mah battery last, and can you recommend should I use an orbital for sanding a vertical fence to then stain, or should I purchase a different type of sander? Thanks

We have not timed it but probably about a bit less than an hour for a fully charged 2.5amp battery.
Is your fence straight edge or feather edge?
If straight, a belt sander would work much faster but then you would need a mouse sander to finish the inside corner spots or do them by hand.
You could use an orbital sander instead of a belt sander but it is very tricky to handle as you might find your sandpaper ''flying-off'' if you don't handle with cautiousness. Also not as fast as a belt sander.
If your fence is feather edged then you will need more time with any sander.
What we would do? Brush off any excess paint with a wire brush or pressure wash and paint over the remaining previous paint, two or more coats if needed. It all depends on how long your fence is, what is the colour difference, and what makes financial sense.

Did you test the batteries for the first time? Everyone knows that new batteries will start performing properly after 2 or 3 charges. What capacity do your batteries have?
The microfilter is not holding everything and this is exactly what we say in the video! USE A FACE MASK!
Do you know of other sanders at this price range that the on/off switch returns to off after changing the battery? It does pose risk of injury and this is why we say in the video that you sould have the sander on a surface when starting and stopping.
What was the point in the video that does not correspond to reality?
Perhaps you should give all the information before stating that the video does not correspond to reality....
