Bosch is an excellent manufacturer that doesn’t get much love in the US. I am almost exclusively Bosch in my shop, and that is having used several Festools. Can’t go wrong with either brand 🤝🏽

as a novice my first powered sander is GEX18V-5N. I paid $164 shipped for new sander, open box 4.0 battery and open box charger. Project Farm has a rigorous 18V sander comparison and the GEX18V-5N stomped all competitors in all metrics. It hurts to pay the cordless premium but eliminating the risk of tripping on a power cord is worth quite a lot to me. Jonathan katz-moses has a rigorous robotic sandpaper test and based on those results I'm starting with a variety pack of Cubitron Mesh.

Here in Europe, both Bosch and Festool are revered brands. My parents have always used Bosch tools and although I would like to use Festool, I can't justify the cost of those products yet. I have the CTL-MIDI dust extractor and it does its job perfectly with all of my Bosch tools. I do have a Festool C18 cordless screwdriver/drill and it's my workhorse, it does it's job for almost six years now. Many thanks for this video, I was looking for a side-to-side comparison of Festool vs Bosch Professional and I appreciate your video.

I'm interested in a sander and the Bosch GEX34-6N sounds perfect for me because vibrations are my biggest motivation for upgrading. I'm not against spending more but that would mean I put off the purchase, but it's nice that it's the lowest vibrations in this shootout. It's too bad the battery unit wasn't great. I have it and my biggest complaint is the vibrations. I appreciate the shootout.

I purchased a used one as the piece is a bit pricey, but the machine th-cam.com/users/postUgkxG6fbm3cHBd7CNTjk5D-dwYe9c9tCB9ZN has surpassed my expectations. We sand small parts by hand often, sized around 1"x1/2," and specifically look for a piece that's designed to be vertical. The motor has plenty of torque and great speed settings. The only inconvenience I had is that the disk measures 5" where we trim 6" stick-and-sand disks down easily by mounting it then cutting with a box cutter.

Great video. My only suggestion would have been to specif7cally name model number AND use pop up captions each time you held or picked up a sander. "This" vs "that one" doesn't work if one is completely unfamiliar with any of the models OR is listening to this as a podcast and without watching screen. This is a common error on youtube as most videograohers arent professionally trained

All the breands have strengths and weaknesses. For most of us heavy duty diyers with limited budgets (not retired dentists), if we want cordless, best to stick with one battery and compromise on our battery brand's weakness while benefiting from their strengths which most match our particular uses. Corded - we can be more picky with each tool. DeWalt corded is mostly rubbish now, unfortunately, which simplifies the options by excluding the whole brand. Makita has maintained the standard of their corded tools for, eg, diamond drills and circular saws. I always found Bosch drills and drivers disappoint - but that's cordless and some years ago. The Bosch sanders seem best for me - results and use match Festool (some better, some worse, some equal) and prices beat Festool.

So compare a festool ets 125 3mm stroke to bosch 6 in 5mm stroke. Of course bosch is faster. If they were both 6 inch sanders the bosch would still be faster.it like comparing the festool 3mm vs 5mm. 5mm larger stroke will always remove more material faster.

I've ordered replacement bases and within a few uses with brand new paper the sand paper just flies off. Once it starts doing this your buggered! To make matters worse the center bolt which holds the base on has a habit of coming loose quite frequently (dispite doing it up with a wrench), it rips through the sandpaper and gauges the crap out of your work piece. Genuinely shocking!!
