  • You know when you think of something independently and then go look it up and see that everyone and their mum has already thought of it? Yeah, so that's what happened here. When I was reading Fire and Blood a year ago I thought 'hmm, this seems familiar', and when I looked it up everyone else had the same thought. Even though there's a dozen perfectly good videos on the internet explaining this, I couldn't think of anything else to make so here's another. I do have some ideas now for a video to make next month, so the well hasn't run completely dry yet.
    Anyway, sources:

The Plantaganets by Dan Jones (part 1)

The vast difference between the anarchy and the dance is that Stephen is King Henry's nephew but Aegon is Viserys son so it is not 100% the same. A King's children will always take precedence over other relatives. Whenever a King has both sons and daughters traditionally, sons take precedence in the succession regardless of age.

I don't know who told you that Blois was pronounced like Lois but they are wrong. It is indeed pronounced like you had assumed (at least in modern french). In older form of the language it was probably pronounced something like "Bloey" but I am no linguist so don't quote me on 12th century french pronounciation.
Also I agree he definitely is Azor Ahai

As someone with a rabid obsession with the wars of the roses and the Tudor period, I’m more knowledgeable about the parallels between the main ASOIAF books and history. I mean, come on. Lancaster=lannister, Stark=York, Martin did not attempt subtlety here.
That said, the anarchy was such a cool time period, and makes excellent basis for fictional stories like the Dance

Amazing video, please make more Asoiaf content. Your Cersei’s Trial video was the freshest theory I’ve heard in a while, would love to hear what else you think will happen that is not just likely, but more importantly thematically appropriate.

Which book on the Anarchy did you read? I read When Christ and His Saints Slept by Sharon Kay Penman at Uni, but that's a somewhat fictionalised version of the events. I'd love to read more some day

I really hope House of the Dragon follows Fire and Blood especially as it relates to Rhaenyra's reign and how it ended.
