I saw a comment on a video saying Jason was in someone's little league baseball team and high school film class. I think it was from another TH-camr on Peter McKinnon's TH-cam.
I could swear that Jason shoots all of his videos with no sound and then makes an excellent foley work and wildtrack mixing to fool us. Great dubbing on that "why is your phone all fucking cracked?" You almost got me.
Imo best photography related channel on youtube rn, the commentary and puns are gold and the locations and shots always interesting. Production and format are also great ,rarely watch such a lengthy video to its end without skipping. I really hope more people get the chance to discover it soon
On a real note Jason, idk how long ago I found your channel but I’ve watched all you videos countless of times and your work inspires me. Your work is alike Edward hopper but without humans preset, a good twist. Your vids and humor helped me through dark times man and still do. Keep the grind up Jason, keep it up.
Please keep making these video’s. They are great and take a away my sadness for not living in USA where i would love to take these kind of landscapes...
@@tallboda668 haha definitely. And not all Americans have the privilege to travel like this either. I was just teasing since the imagery from this video highlights the typical outdoorsy americana aesthetic. I'm from Canada with strict asian parents, so I can't really imagine myself going on a road trip like this, but it's fun to fantasize what it could be like through these videos
Super-8 cameras use a fixed prism for the viewfinder, as opposed to a shutter mechanism, so the washing out comes from light hitting the film through the eyepiece. Gotta keep your eye tight on that eyecup unless light leaks are your jam. There’s no fix for The Office pans though, those just come with the territory.
as someone who's working in glacier np right now and has been shooting it all summer - its so cool to see these familiar places through new eyes. it truly is a mind-blowing place and this video and your shots helped remind me of how beautiful this place really is
What a banger of a video! Really gets you in the mood of you know what I mean. For a road trip of course. Just a small nitpick: I think the Nikon R10 is a super 8 camera, using cartridges and whatnot. 8mm film is a completely distinct format that comes on rolls and is quite a bit more cumbersome to use.
Damn Jason every time I watch your videos it makes just want to go out and shoot. Definitely have been a big inspiration for my own photography, I appreciate the vibes man.
That first shot from Yellowstone - I remember shooting that exact perspective on… I think it was my mom’s Minolta AF SLR, maybe it was an i-series? That or it was on my Kodak-made fisher price 110. But I think it was the Minolta. It was like 27 years ago okay
Welcome to the wonderful world of super 8! If you throw an s-curve on that footage you'll be astounded how the color in that film comes to life. Kodak Vision 3 really knows how to sing.
The film project cuts down and canisters Kodak vision3 into rolls for 35mm still film. It's actually what cinestill is made from but it still has the remjet. Because if that it has to be processed in ecn2, which I'm sure you're aware of. I've really been wanting to pick up some 50d and 250d to try out as it appears to have really nice colors and contrast.
I think your SX-70 may be fine, it just needs its rollers cleaned. Also shielding your film and keeping it refrigerated will minimize the blue streaks and blue cast (along with the majority of other imperfections). And if you’re not happy about the exposure of your shots I’d recommend using the crap out of the exposure dial. I set it with pretty much every shot I take. Sick video!
Those salt flats photos are killer!! I love those nice, bright, soft backgrounds with the subject nicely exposed. What did the 8mm cost to develop and scan?
Why are all of the Mamiya 7/Porta 400 shots over exposed by a stop or more? Great trip. Being an old fart, my days of tent camping and sleeping on the ground are gone, but I can vicariously enjoy it through others.
Just sent in my first roll of 8mm from my Canon 310XL, gotta say your say your stuff looks amazing and is making me really excited for me to get it back.
I think Baxter was the man of the house before the road trip....
biggest balls in the house for sure
Oof.
Jason was that weird guy in your school. But look at him now. Still weird
I saw a comment on a video saying Jason was in someone's little league baseball team and high school film class. I think it was from another TH-camr on Peter McKinnon's TH-cam.
the jokes hurt physically😂😂😂
Came for the photography, stayed for the amazingly thought out jokes and corny lines. 10/10
Jason broke the axe because he wanted to prove that his Mamiya 7 glass was sharper and more adept at splitting wood obviously
Wow. This must have been a shit ton of work to edit and add sound to the 8mm footage. Thank you for sharing this.
I'm planning my own trips already.
almost at 69k, you got it champ keep going
nice
Now a 97.9k almost too 100k subs. I want to see the whole Vidie on the Road to 100k with plenty of sample pics From the Leica M6.
160k today, you’ve come a long way dude keep it up. Truly inspiring.
I could swear that Jason shoots all of his videos with no sound and then makes an excellent foley work and wildtrack mixing to fool us. Great dubbing on that "why is your phone all fucking cracked?" You almost got me.
I can’t wait to see the day you have the fame you really deserve

He just takes absolutely beautiful shots and makes sure to show us plenty. That in itself puts him a step ahead of most other channels.
more like youtube algorithm choose him
Dude... you have a life
family, good friends, nice places to be and photography
I live for the purely dead from inside "Yo waddup"
Glad to see our incredible beer on display so much. Cheers from Montucky.
Every time Jason posts a video I'm like "welp, there's another place i have to visit"

Don't think this former middle-infielder didn't appreciate those short-hop picks in the park. Nice saves, camera boy. Nice saves.
Such strong bro vibes in this. Is this what it means to be young and American
It's also possible to be young and african, european, australian and so on.

Just so so good! Make me want to go out and make my own videos!!
30 Plus minutes of Grainy Days? I'm in heaven.
35 minutes of memes and Jason. Ow yes.
Hi Jason, no matter how depressed you are, your videos are the best! So hilarious! The most entertaining film photography channel! Keep it up man!

I love these mini travel docs and I rewatch them a lot especially the Iceland one
Jason. I had an upset stomach and this video gave me comfort for the 30 minutes i was on the toilet, thanks.
That pic of motel at sunrise/dusk at 3:08 - ooooooff. So nice!
love your sense of humor man! A lot of regular film videos can get boring but the jokes you write in really are always great!
Thank you for these videos! They’re the perfect amount of funny, entertaining and relaxing.
I can't get enough of this channel. Idk why you don't have more subs.
The amount of AESTHETIC in this video is unreal.
Your photos honestly make me smile which feels rare lately. I just want to travel, and these made me have a little taste of that, great video
This is a dream trip for me. Just chillin in national parks shooting film with the boys
as someone who's working in glacier np right now and has been shooting it all summer - its so cool to see these familiar places through new eyes. it truly is a mind-blowing place and this video and your shots helped remind me of how beautiful this place really is
This has quickly become one of my favorite TH-cam channels. 🤙
That’s a solid set pictures. I particularly liked that motorcycle on the salt ground.
your videos bring me peace and this one gave me 34:49 minutes worth of peace so thank you
Thank you for blessing us with this half an hour mini film i loved it :)
Take a shot every time Jason says “one of my favourites”

No one:
Jason every other photo: This was my favorite from the trip so far.
What a trip! Loved all the moments. Reminded me of trips with my friends that I wished to capture better
Shoving firewood under a prius and drinking a beer is honestly going to be my new hobby
Damn Jason every time I watch your videos it makes just want to go out and shoot. Definitely have been a big inspiration for my own photography, I appreciate the vibes man.
What a warm video during these rough times
I really liked the Ford F 150.
I agree with the b&w sofa pic.

This video just fixed my depression
thanks for existing dude :)
Thank you nigga
Glad to see that SX-70 goin to good use my guy
Drawn in by the thumbnail, hooked by the first three shots, stayed for the humor.
Well, i thought that was a fake 8mm overlay. Blown away when I find out that's real.
Do you know apps that have the same overlay?
I did that waterfall hike a few years back. Was just getting into photography and was using my dads dslr.
Your videos get better and better. Every time I watch I wanna go out and shoot! Keep making awesome stuff!
Another great episode, loved the addition of Super 8 too! :-)
12:50 my favorite shot, i think. love the colors, the light, and the smiles
It all feels so nostalgic, not just the 8mm shots. Got inspired to trabel with my friends :) Very nice, man. Thanks for this video...
Love the sound the SX-70 makes when spitting out the film. 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Great trip! Great video! Great images!
probably my favorite youtuber rn
So dope Jason. Love the narrative of your videos
first video to watch from the beginning to the end in youtube for years
10 minutes of travel, 10 minutes of photograpy, 15 minutes of alcohol.
Love everything there is in this video!
Beautiful trip. Ace photos
"How many camera's from how many different eras did you bring with you?"
Grainyhipster: "Yes."
Loved it! Your enthusiasm is contagious...
One of my favorite episodes! Nice work!
After the second oil dipstick check on the Prius I was dead certain there will be three oil checks, was not disappointed.
Those overexposed salty photos look absolutely great!
I like the vibe of your vids, truly something else
Welcome to the wonderful world of super 8! If you throw an s-curve on that footage you'll be astounded how the color in that film comes to life. Kodak Vision 3 really knows how to sing.
Magic - really enjoyed watching this!
what a wonderful documentation of a cool trip. great memories
Thank you, Jason! Needed this roadtrip in my head. Lots of beautiful shots. And the long format suits you just as well as the shorter vids.
Just found your channel. Love your editting and story-telling. Love your honest perspective !!
Great film, love the 8mm. Nice soundtrack too cheers 👍
I think this is your best video yet!
Damn, that 8mm footage sets the mood. The whole trip looks awesome. :)
The shots at 30:39 looks really nice to me! Even if the camera told you they were over exposed, they turned out great.

Every time I watch one of your videos dude I just wanna give you a hug and say ‘it’s okay, it’s all going to be okay!’ 👌
Nothing makes me yearn for a cross country road trip like grainy days videos
Those salt flats photos are killer!! I love those nice, bright, soft backgrounds with the subject nicely exposed.
What did the 8mm cost to develop and scan?
This is def my fav video on ur channel. I luv it
Loved this. Loved the motorcycle footage you shot. Thank you for making my day brighter.
i8z - from the gram.

This really makes me want to go out and shoot photos, thanks Jason!
2:10 is that the boat that our lord and savior "nick carver" photographed in one of his videos???
Yes, it is. I noticed it too, so did Jason.
What video?
Lmao ikr
th-cam.com/video/BHNxsibPLW0/w-d-xo.html I noticed it too
Beautiful as always!

Just stayed at the Village Inn at Glacier last month, thanks for the reminder and the laughs.
Loved it. Thank you.
You need to try using warming filters with Ektachrome. The gas station shot with an 81a filter would have made you toss the portra in the bin.
Wow! Beautiful film. I love the shot at 24:57. Lovely work
Epic video, loved every second 👏
ahhhh your videos are hilarious! So glad I came across this channel!
The 8mm Video reminded me of the Wonder Year's intro, Thanks for the Video. I got my Mamiya 7II 2 years ago lol, still havent used it :D.
just got back from a roadtrip cross country. memories forever boss, some dope shots here
Glad to see you traveling again and having fun bruh
