@@knifelyfe6565 Larry Carlton is one of my favorite players ever. On top of that, he's a good man and respected around the world. In this clip however, he's having a lot of trouble. Very, very unlike him and I'll bet he'd be the first to say, "Boy, I blew that one" Carlton isn't the first or the last to fall from the top of his game as he ages. Only natural. Doesn't diminish my respect and admiration one bit.
I’ve been a huge Larry fan over years. I even purchased Larry’s signature Gibson 335. However, all musicians have a peak and pass through their peak into a slow deterioration of skills. Often health plays a role in the slide. I greatly admire Larry’s career and his legacy but he appears to be struggling throughout these NAMM 2024 videos.
That's a bit harsh and I woundn't say he's struggling, as much as he seems maybe a little tired, and not bringing all the fire that he used to, to the table. Let's just say that.
You've obviously never been to NAMM. It's loud, exhausting, and a bit of a pita for performers. You expect studio quality on the floor of a convention hall. What planet are you on? Just keep sucking, Cox
Try what? Did he play "Room 335"? Larry & Matteo are two completely different players and one of them has decades of experience and more soul, than most guitarists, except for maybe Clapton and a few others. Larry's vibrato I'm sure kicks that kid's ass, and that's what you need folks to make your guitar sing. Think B.B. King or Hendrix, which I hear in Larry's playing. Anyone can play a hundred notes in a few seconds, including me. I clone Yngwie when I so desire, so I do know a thing or two about speed.
This kid is ever so grossly overrated. My god, seriously. If all the raving here is on this video's thread is genuine, and not about tribalism or marxism, well then fine, we can just agree to disagree. But if all this hype is the equivalent to supporting your local politician, or what have you, then eyes out, yo, to speak the venacular of some of ya's out there who may be reading this little ole rant here. I'm sick of the warrantless Larry Carlton bashing here. That kid doesn't have a fraction of the soul or feeling in his playing, and that goofy thing he does with is fingerws. Come on now. Pushing novelty are we, like that 400 pound Kingfish guy or the hotties of the day. Identity politics really shouldn't have any place in music or in the promotion of certain talents, primary based on their identity over their actual merits.
Having said that, some of the greatest guitarists have been italian guitarists through the years......Tony Iommi, Frank Zappa, Pat Martino, Joe Pass, Jimmy Bruno, Tommy Tedesco, Frank Gambale, Al DiMeola, Dweezil Zappa, Joe Satriani, etc. etc.
Sounds like he's losing it. Never heard a better 335 than the original album. All the improvised 335 solos kind of suck ass, nonetheless his recorded solos are indeed awesome
Love Larry Carlton. Some of my best golf shots have occurred while listening to Larry playing guitar😊😊
It's sad to see. I remember him at his best. One of the finest
I'd listen to Larry Carlton hitting the bottom of a toilet bowl with a rusty spoon, because it's him. Guy is a legend.
my guitar.......🤩
is it a Sire guitar?
I do believe.
Just love his technique tone everything
Me too!
Damn father time spares no one
Ain't none of us getting any younger, I tell ya.
Nothing like Larry's tone on the 335.
Precisely.
@@jasondotson Have you heard Larry's solo on Eye To Eye "Falling for a Funny One?"
HAPPY LISTENING!
he was wrong several times... but i still love him
Sorry but I would greatly disagree. This man is never wrong, musically speaking.
@@jasondotson i'm talking about his mistakes during his play
The life of a guitar player often ends sadly
What does that mean?
@@knifelyfe6565 I'm afraid I know. And I couldn't be a bigger fan of Larry Carlton.
@@douglaswilkin4991 Explain it to me.Larry is alive and well.
@@douglaswilkin4991 I just saw Larry in New York and his son Travis played bass.Larry hasn't lost any licks and his tone was perfect.

After seeing Matteo Mancuso play it, it's hard to watch anyone else try, even Larry.

agree ....it's hard to watch him play nowadays, he plays like a beginner unfortunately.
After Mancuso's version of this tune If I was him I would drop it from my repertory permanently 😂

Sad to see and hear how his playing got here.
Nonsense.
Since decades Larry Carlton is my fav guitar player. It really hurts me to hear this. He should retire with all respect he deserves.
Totally agree!
Poppycock, I say!
He looked pissed off
Baby's momma was gettin' in his face. That's why.
Sadly I think he is seriously ill
Perhaps. But that's not for us to judge.

Yeah, San Bernadino can be a little dodgy. Sure.
